Yes, I do agree. I found nothing negative about this game, despite watching the gameplay and different outcomes of the game. I really love these Interactive Narrative games.
Didn't play the game myself, but watched a complete playthrough. This is one of the best games by plot and engagement that I've seen over past YEARS. The studio definitely made improvements since the Heavy Rain, making Detroit feel bigger, brighter, epic and... real? If you are into sci-fi genre or want to feel as a part of something significant, this game is for you. Very few recent games make you actually think and are be delighted by simply observing the plot, and almost none delivers emotions to you every single minute of the game, without taking any pauses like mindless fights or grinding. Every minute of this game is a masterpiece worth experiencing.
I don’t understand why people are complaining about the price tag and game time... Until Dawn had a game time of about 8 hours and a price tag of 60 dollars. Both games are designed in a way in which they are both replayable due to how the story adapts to the choices you make, except this time it seems Detroit has more endings than Until Dawn so wouldn’t it still be worth the money?
I agree..Until Dawn, while one of my favourite games..still took all the usual short cut's and by the end is pretty much the same..this one on the other hand. I'm seriously impressed at just bloody different it becomes depending on what you chose to do. I'm sure having the charts on the end of each level was done as much for the designers as much as it was the gamer..so they know that they can no longer take the standard shortcut's..we will notice!.
This game is so amazing. It had my emotions feeling strong the whole time. I teared up and cried a lot bro. I loved it. Tense moments, feeling scared, understanding what makes you human, etc. A great game for making you feel the feels.
“Don’t think it’ll win over new fans” lol I didn’t even know about the company who made Detroit Become Human or their other games until I watched it on RT’s channel and I absolutely love it!!
Same here (except for knowing about heavy rain but not knowing about the company who made it) but with my best friend introducing me to the game and me watching jacksepticeyes playthrough
I really don’t know if anybody’s gonna see this but i just finished this game earlier tonight & WOW i was so hooked from beginning to end, such a connection built with so many of the characters and seeing those relationships get built. This game is a 20/10 and i cannot wait long enough for another game like this
8-9 hours? are you crazyl? this game has to offer WAY more than that, Sooo many options and decision you can make, that everything has different outcomes. Well its understandable to wait for a sale too
I mean yeah, it would involve you replaying the game and trying different options. But then you kind of already know most of the plot and all that, yknow? Won't be as exciting as the first time
Not everyone will want to replay it and a lot of the people who do will do it a long time after release. So it's just not going to be a big factor of a good portion of the people interested in the game.
To be honest I thought this game is kinda old when I first saw someone play this, but I recognized the android's face from a trailer back in 2012, then I looked up that it's a new release. Visuals are not as Jake puts it, I noticed a lot of mistakes and other stuff that seems like it's a crappy game, but it just might be because it's on PS, but I really enjoy the story of the game.
Just the game in general, but the guy who plays Connor does a really good job. It feels like a robot trying to act human, not a human trying to act like a robot.
@@ziyan_zrooznope. It's a choose your own adventure game. You can move around a little bit but just in so far as to get yourself from A to B. It's a phenomenal game in this genre.
The issue I always had with Teltale games was that the choices never really seem to matter in the end. But with this branching paths of outcomes it seems really interesting... shame I don't have a ps4 tho...
Thats a big difference between Telltale and Quantic Dream in my opinion. Telltale games have a set story with minimal branching parts whereas Quantum Dream games have a general plot with many stories that all branch differently, so your choices seems to matter more.
They did matter at one point if you played the walking dead season 1, wolf among us, tales from borderland, after those games it seems like the choices didn't matter in the end without having a good outcomes on what we decided.
True, but thats the problem with TT games, they stir their games over many titles... which limits the branching stories a lot since where you end in season 1 has to synch with what they bring up on season 2. If you do a one off, you could have as many endings as Nier Automata (about 24 endings, admitingly 20 of them are ''joke'' endings punishing you for your choices or abilities has a player)
Telltale writes above average or average stories, though. Quantic Dream writes cliched, inconsistent and hilarious-for-the-wrong-reasons, at least mostly. So far only Heavy Rain was decent in the story department, and even then it had a few major, major problems. Telltale has made some bad stories, but not as bad. And they've made some incredible stories, which QD has never come close to. It just has good production values which helps to mask the fundamental writing problems. I'd rather play an excellent linear narrative game than a crappy narrative game with true branches. Detroit seems like it's better than the others though.
About the dialogue cringe thing. It annoys me beause it makes it seem like people in real life never say cringy things, in fact real people say way more cringy things. So why does everyone seem to want to point this out? This game is about people going through shit, they're not gonna gonna even really care how they sound, they're probably too busy worrying about their lives falling apart around them.
People don't normally talk like cringy novels. And if they do, people around them notice. Nobody notices, nobody reacts like people would. So no, it's not at all like you describe. There's a different between human awkwardness that is real and writing awkwardness where they sound like they're just in a story and aren't real characters. QD is VERY MUCH the latter.
Shimaketsu read Wveth's comment, it is kinda explain the difference. Not say awkward people aren't real tho. But mostly, the cringe dialogue in movies just went UNNOTICE by the other characters, when in good written movies, an awkward/cringe person did make uncomfortable tension to other characters and their surrounding.
we have morality and empathy on top of emotion. robots however just have choices, and choices to come across like they have them... sociopathic in nature
Did you really suggest detroit didn't have writing as good as movies? lmfao. I wasn't a fan of heavy rain, it's drawn me in. ;) Powerful storytelling. The quick time events actually portray the desparation in the scenes where it's used; its insane the way it creates atmosphere, especially knowing you can end up actually losing the ability to continue the story of the character because you failed - except in one case.
The writing isn't as good as in most movies. It's not even good. This game has plotholes oh my god. If it was a movie honestly I don't think anyone would give a shit about it, but being a game makes it somewhat special and the technical stuff is amazing, the graphics are gorgeous and there are many choices to make that have a great impact. But the writing itself?.. Nah man. Nah.
Played through it in 12 hours, I’ve still got a lot of endings left though. I think it’s worth the price tag. Story isn’t mind blowing or anything but it is enjoyable.
Michael McDonald You didn't get a good ending? There is one where everyone of main characters lives, Kara and everyone with her goes to Canada. Connor becomes a deviant and helps Marcus and Marcus releases androids from concentration camps while USA gives them Detroit (USA won't give them Detroit if Connor doesn't become deviant, as soon as he becomes one less main characters die so remember that)
I finished it in two days (purchased day one). I enjoyed the game overall, though some chapters (such as Markus getting to that location early on) didn't really have any branching paths and was pretty much a get from A to B chapter. Visually, the game is very impressive and I think its one of the best looking PS4 titles on the system. One thing I really liked is the game's menu system with Chloe interacting with you and being able to answer ethical questions in the survey. I thought that was a nice touch.I can definitely say this is a vast improvement over Beyond Two Souls which I personally found disappointing.
Heavy Rain and Detroit Become Human will always be in my list of being one of the greatest games I've played. I'll be buying every single game QuanticDream releases from now on.
I highly recommend you Beyond Two Souls. Of course this is my opinion but for real that’s the greatest and most emotional game that Quantic Dream ever made.
4 years laters and it’s still an amazing game. I do want to say one thing, you really underwhelmed the “losing your characters” bit. On my first play through I made some mistakes, which I thought were just minor, and ended up killing it deactivating connor. Personally it left me devastated. These characters feel so real, it’s almost hilarious how these androids feel so real (Ik this is the type of message the devs were sending). When I lost Connor that first time, I wanted to cry. Other then that, in my opinion, it is a well portrayed game with a well possible message/foreshadow. Spent over 100 hours on this game and can gladly say, it’s a masterpiece
I'm on my first play though. Kinda finding it a bit to much button prompting at the moment I'm not to far into the game yet and I'm also finding the camera control a little clunky
I'm really scared to play or watch it. I hate when things fall into the uncanny valley. Animated things need to have some kind of artistic flair for me. And the premise of the story is just as terrifying. Good to hear something contradictory to my own first thoughts!
@@BloodyKnives66 Oh ya I did once then regretted it because I liked seeing her on the screen. Chloe. I think she came back because the Company decided to make an update to put her back on the main menu! So I was happy about it! This was in June 2018 they made an update about it!
I loved this game. I really felt that my decisions mattered and I feel like the flowcharts are the reason for that. I also felt super connected to the characters and actually cared about what happened to them which is rare in a lot of games.
This one is my favorite from them. As someone who spent a lot of time researching AI and thinking about the possibility of having these types of Androids really hit home with me. I loved it so much and will be playing it several times.
I legit finished playing this game just now, and it's honestly such an enjoyable game and good story arcs that envelope throughout the decisions you make in the game. Easily i'd replay the game but not anytime soon, i'd need time to forget and just embrace it for the first time
Got this game like many others through PlayStation plus. This is the first game in years to completely captivate me and look forward to replaying it just so I can make different decisions and have different outcomes. The graphics and the environment are also breathtaking! It's games like this that remind me why I love PlayStation exclusives. Don't get me wrong Xbox has amazing exclusives but these games just have a certain amount of finesse to them.
This game's pacing felt more like a TV series with each segment being an episode as opposed to Heavy Rain feeling more like a really long movie. I personally like the pacing of both and I think it helps for players that want a good leaving point before taking a break or such.
I liked the story split into small mini chunks given I could still enjoy it getting home from work and only being able to play 1 or 2 'levels'. I get your point, but from the viewpoint of having limited time the flow is good imo. I agree as well that the story and writing is great, but a bit cliche top heavy.
Hi! I have played through Detroit two times and just started a new game once more. I have played all quanticdream games since the first one (Fahrenheit/Indigo prophesy) and I think detroit and Fahrenheit is the the two best ones. Great video, continue your work.
The amount of branching paths and different cutscenes and endings are insanse! I keep seeing videos popping up on youtube of people trying different options. The amount of ways it changes the stories are INSANE.
5 years later, I’m still playing the game over and over, it’s the best story game I’ve ever played because it gives me the fear in the future something like this has a chance of happening, just gives me that realistic feeling other games can’t. I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t played it.
I loved Heavy Rain, so I was looking forward to Detroit since I heard about it. I'm still working through my first playthrough and I LOVE it. It's just my kind of game. Action/Adventure games are fun, but I get really frustrated with them very easily. With Detroit, I get to engage in a story and choose my own way through it. I dunno, I think it's amazing and so worth it. I feel like the stakes are so unbelievably high that every decision you have to make is both exciting and terrifying. Like, I actually found myself needing to take a moment to breathe cause I was so anxious and worried, but I'm also addicted and can't stop playing. I love love love it.
I just tried this game for the first time and I was blown away. The graphics are amazing and the story leaves you thinking about deep stuff. Not much action sadly, but the story makes up for it.
Solid 9/10 I say that because part of me wanted it to be longer. Even though it took me a bit to complete. Insane game, graphics, soundtrack as well to fit those intense moments. Loved this game from the start of it
I just finished this and I think you’re hating too much on this I really thought this game was amazing, I didn’t like heavy rain but beyond 2 souls is probably my favorite story game of all time and this is up there in my tops for sure. It’s a top tier game and really recommend it
Playing this on the PS5 is insane… I mean the tv I am using might be helping too but between my ps4 pro and ps5 I am just loving this story and game…. Maybe I am just overly sensitive but it made me cry too lol
Honestly, I absolutely LOVED this game, Story mode games usually bore me pretty fast (havent even went past mid gta 5), but this one absolutely kept my attention, every choice u make have a direct impact on the next events it makes you having a HUGE real role on the story , I would describe this game THE game for me , I hope I will discover new games like this one
Amazng game, have played the entiere game twice now and it still feals like I can play trough the entierre game again several times and still get completely different story’s
This is the first time I’ve played a David Cage game. Needless to say I have played through this 3 times now so that I can see everything that I wouldn’t see with only one play through. I really have enjoyed this game and I am glad I bought it. I ended up playing my first time through totally differently then I thought I would.
Watched people play heavy rain when i was a kid was never into games like this, this game however ive played through 15-17 times beginning to end and got all trophies will play it again as i still have not unlocked all paths, one of the greatest games ever, with a great storyline
I played it for the first time in ps5 and at first I was like... Well, this kind sucks. Then I realized it was a branching story, similar to telltale's games before they went under. The story once you get to Kara's part is when I got completely hooked. Great game
I don't liek the stupid reliance on gyroscope on the controller, that bit is annoying. Wish we could turn it off bc I hate(d) awkwardly throwing my controller around.
I just downloaded this from the psn+ and I’m surprised by the story and playing mechanics of this game. It has really kept me entertained throughout all 3 characters that i found myself annoyed when I had to turn it off.
I got this game pretty close to release and just snagged it again on PC and I is one of my favorite games. First time I played it was entirely on a long 3 day weekend and I was floored by the graphics and the story. The behind the scenes stuff was amazing too. I highly recommend especially for replayability.
The first and only game I've ever played made by quanticdream was fahrenheit which was fantastic. Taking into consideration it was 15 years ago I cannot wait playing this one on my ps4. Just bought it along with heavy rain & beyond two souls, also made by quantic to keep my collection complete.
Just started this game. Finished the opening act and got damn, had to stop real quick because this shit feels like a movie. Can’t wait to have a full opinion on the game but at the same time I hope this feeling doesn’t change or end
I just wanna mention how a lot of people may be misjudging the game for being an Interactive Narrative, or being "cliché". From my experience, I recommend it a lot, since the idea was executed very well, and may change someone's perspective on racism, for example. Those 750 SEK's were worth it in my opinion.
Thea Rose As soon as my game arrived in the mail, I played through it, and completed it in 14 1/2 hours straight. I love the game so much. The team did a really good job on some of the choices in the game, and there were many times I had to stop the game to really contemplete my choice. I especially loved Chloe on the main menu, when she would comment on how she likes your decorated house, or ask a yes, no question on whether or not I consider her to be my friend! 😰😮 It made me feel really creeped out, but in a good way. ☺️ Can’t wait for the next game Quantic Dreams will make! 💕👍🏻👌🏻

Can’t believe that this game is 4 years old. I just started it for the first time, and really loving it so far. I love these games and when I saw it was the studio behind Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain, I was sold. Even Life is Strange is amazing. Can’t wait to play more!
Really digging the characters so far. If you can get past a bit of corny dialogue, the actual performances themselves are enough to draw you into a well realized world, and engaging narrative. Definitely gets a recommendation from me.
I was looking forward for this game and I wasn’t disappointed at all I was playing the game like damn I would pay double for this in my personal opinion I like this kind of game a lot so if your into this kinda games It’s a defentitly buy Connor is awesome !! now when I get to work on the elevator I like to fix my tie just before getting out 😂
I got to play this game with a buddy of mine, we would play on two separate accounts so we each had our own story and we would play two (or more) chapters then swap off. This way we would each play a scene the other guy and then one new scene, the other guy would play the scene that had just finished then a new scene, and so on. We both really enjoyed it and came up with profiles of "This is MY Connor and these are his goals and what he will do." We're both fans of these games and we both quickly became attached to the characters (Especially Kara and Alice) and I agree with what was said in the review. They don't do much that is new (except for the flow chart) but everything they've done they do well. My only complaint is that there seems to be a few places in the QTE's where the motion inputs (Like having to move the actual controller) either require you to be REALLY precise with needing to hold the controller a certain way and move exactly, or they just strait up arn't working, as both of us failed inputs that we knew were coming.
I always get into games a year er two after release..and this was no exception. Just borrowed it off my buddy and I'm looking this up 1st..and I KNEW that was Clancy Brown!! I had no idea he was in this. That SHOWS just how GOOD this came out. 👍👍👍

“Don’t think it’ll win over new fans” lol I didn’t even know about the company who made Detroit Become Human or their other games until I watched it on RT’s channel and I absolutely love it!!
Same here, but from CoryxKenshin
Same here (except for knowing about heavy rain but not knowing about the company who made it) but with my best friend introducing me to the game and me watching jacksepticeyes playthrough
Same but I played it
I really don’t know if anybody’s gonna see this but i just finished this game earlier tonight & WOW i was so hooked from beginning to end, such a connection built with so many of the characters and seeing those relationships get built. This game is a 20/10 and i cannot wait long enough for another game like this
I dunno I actually really enjoyed this game
Yeah but 60 bucks for like 8-9 hours. I'm gonna wait till a sale, or rent
8-9 hours? are you crazyl? this game has to offer WAY more than that, Sooo many options and decision you can make, that everything has different outcomes. Well its understandable to wait for a sale too
I mean yeah, it would involve you replaying the game and trying different options. But then you kind of already know most of the plot and all that, yknow? Won't be as exciting as the first time
ZDEyE same. I loved heavy rain so i enjoyed this
Not everyone will want to replay it and a lot of the people who do will do it a long time after release. So it's just not going to be a big factor of a good portion of the people interested in the game.
Just finished it. Totally worth playing if you own a ps4.
Man, this looks gorgeous.
The Spongy Mallard it absolutely is.i just got to the second act on the pro and it's gorgeous.
The Spongy Mallard on a pro with a 4k screen looks god damn amazing
To be honest I thought this game is kinda old when I first saw someone play this, but I recognized the android's face from a trailer back in 2012, then I looked up that it's a new release. Visuals are not as Jake puts it, I noticed a lot of mistakes and other stuff that seems like it's a crappy game, but it just might be because it's on PS, but I really enjoy the story of the game.
+The Spongy Mallard you're talking about connor right? the android sent by cyberlife?
Just the game in general, but the guy who plays Connor does a really good job. It feels like a robot trying to act human, not a human trying to act like a robot.
This review doesn’t grasp how amazing this game is
u r right
Is it openworld?
@@ziyan_zrooznope. It's a choose your own adventure game. You can move around a little bit but just in so far as to get yourself from A to B. It's a phenomenal game in this genre.
@robwaters8848 Thanks, man
This game was actually really incredible
@Zoe Wetzel maybe it's the console or pc that is the cause of the problem
I don't even know what I'm doing here, I don't have a PS4...

RaVOo Tv they said ps5 wont release for another 3-4 years
RaVOo Tv Bruh ffs stop with the rumours, Days Gone is gonna launch on the ps4 and furthermore, it'll take 3-4 years until the PS5 comes out.
Carl, me neither. But I watched the whole gameplay of MKIceAndFire to learn the story.

Best PS plus game I've played and finished. Kara was my fave. I was so glad they swapped this in place of a soccer game.

You mention actors and don’t mention Jesse Williams (Marcus).
Markus*
Probably because Markus' storyline was boring and tedious after he laft Carl
@IssyFishyy um... You literally play as a robot. But overall, all the protagonist seem emotionless.
@IssyFishyy forced you in a relationship? I'm pretty sure that's your choice alone that's the point of the game after all.
Markus* STOOPID
CryoNios watch a playthrough, I watched about 2 and had a great experience.
Shimaketsu Are you stupid?
Monkey.D Luffy so u never say cringy things I guess
People don't normally talk like cringy novels. And if they do, people around them notice. Nobody notices, nobody reacts like people would. So no, it's not at all like you describe. There's a different between human awkwardness that is real and writing awkwardness where they sound like they're just in a story and aren't real characters. QD is VERY MUCH the latter.
Ok so awkward people aren't real... Logic I guess
Came here after I already beat the game. Didn't even need a before you buy cause this game is a MUST HAVE in your PS4 collection.
"Wont win over any new fans" where did you get that from?
I find it interesting that you're playing a game about making choices with characters who wouldn't technically have a choice.
Robotman when you play the game, it’ll make sense. They definitely can make choices..
For a while one of the characters doesn't really have choices because he isn't a deviant like the other 2 main characters.
Andreas Scott isn't that just what we do? Of course we filter outcomes through the lense of emotion, but honestly we do almost exactly the same thing.
we have morality and empathy on top of emotion. robots however just have choices, and choices to come across like they have them... sociopathic in nature
Humans are just highly advanced robots technically. I'm assuming in the game the androids actually have emotion and stuff
I just beat this game, and good god I fucking loved it!
Quentin Prucha beat? U mean u played it?
Minh Nguyen she/he meants they finished the game. i finished it too
Same dude and I only got it 2 days ago
I just beat it today. It was amazing! I will be playing it again in the near future for a different story and ending.
@breste 557 lol! No. I just did one play through. I'm playing it again though to get a different ending.
The segment with the chick in the house looks like the house from Heavy Rain
It has a same feel to it.
when you’re sneaking through town with Kara, “Heavy Rain” is playing in theatres
ZUCC: *THE GAME*
This game is a true work of art. It’s mostly story driven with quick time events but this is just what I needed something fresh.
Nah man. Nah.
@Prince of Lies So far, whenever someone talks shit on the writing, they're just spouting out blanket statements.
@@misanthropy9295 yeah with no evidence whatsoever, they're just saying it to say it.

Garon Bradley How he probably doesn't own a ps4 but really wants the game so he just watches it.
Olive I do own a PS4 but I don't buy games like this I'd rather see other peoples choices and how they think about the situations
you know , maybe if these type of games released on all platforms......more people would get it
Played through it in 12 hours, I’ve still got a lot of endings left though. I think it’s worth the price tag. Story isn’t mind blowing or anything but it is enjoyable.
Just buy it! Now I'm gonna cry in the corner because I just finished the game.
Michael McDonald have you tried replaying the game.
Since it's a non-linear game it should offer a lot of different outcomes
how long is it?
fuloran1 45 hours to find every choice, path and ending possible.
fuloran1 very long. Like 10 Hours on my first try.
Hank: why the hell did you take a straw here
Connor: *looking at blood* you know exactly why lieutenant
Hank: Connor no!
Connor: Connor yes!!!
Plot twist: Connor is a futuristic vampire.

Life is Strange is equally good. Better IMO
I highly recommend you Beyond Two Souls. Of course this is my opinion but for real that’s the greatest and most emotional game that Quantic Dream ever made.
@@dropdead3026 agreed.
Ik my opinion went everywhere but I hope the message gets across
I'm on my first play though. Kinda finding it a bit to much button prompting at the moment I'm not to far into the game yet and I'm also finding the camera control a little clunky
I'm really scared to play or watch it. I hate when things fall into the uncanny valley. Animated things need to have some kind of artistic flair for me. And the premise of the story is just as terrifying. Good to hear something contradictory to my own first thoughts!
I beat the game in one sitting, took about 14 hours. Loved every second of it. Can't wait to do multiple runs and see all the differences in the game.
You ever Platniumed it? It took me 3 weeks for it, wasn't hard, I'd say its easy. Back in June 2018 that is.

I loved this game. I really felt that my decisions mattered and I feel like the flowcharts are the reason for that. I also felt super connected to the characters and actually cared about what happened to them which is rare in a lot of games.

The graphics and the environment are also breathtaking! It's games like this that remind me why I love PlayStation exclusives. Don't get me wrong Xbox has amazing exclusives but these games just have a certain amount of finesse to them.
sad its on pc too now
This game's pacing felt more like a TV series with each segment being an episode as opposed to Heavy Rain feeling more like a really long movie.
I agree as well that the story and writing is great, but a bit cliche top heavy.
there are 100 endings. It depends on how u make ur choices that those "cliche" moments dont occur

I just wanna mention how a lot of people may be misjudging the game for being an Interactive Narrative, or being "cliché". From my experience, I recommend it a lot, since the idea was executed very well, and may change someone's perspective on racism, for example. Those 750 SEK's were worth it in my opinion.

As soon as my game arrived in the mail, I played through it, and completed it in 14 1/2 hours straight. 💕👍🏻👌🏻
