The astronaut scene was one of the greatest scenes I’ve ever seen in a video game. Brought me to tears. Just wow.
That scene was moving man. One of Ellie’s last genuinely happy moments with Joel. Ellie was Joel’s baby girl and he was her daddy.

I was fine with the beginning of the game I just wish they pulled off the second half differently
Being as vague as possible here but; Yeah I’ve just reached the second half, after about an hour and a half I was like “oh my god how long does this last” and googled it. Which was when I realised this shit lasts basically as long as everything I’ve played so far... I actually might just give up because I do not care enough to wade through this shit for that long. No spoilers pls but... is it honestly worth getting through the rest?

I managed to stay in the dark, saw the two first trailers released and nothing about the leaks.
Played the first game when it came out and was very, very hyped for the sequel and I wasn’t let down at all, it’s amazing how they managed to make me like Abby over time, despite the fact that I wanted to bash her face in for what she did to Joel.
The last fight between Abby and Ellie didn’t give me any satisfaction or hype in that I didn’t want anyone to die. Both of them lost a lot because of vengeance.
As much as it sucked to lose Joel, it wasn’t that unexpected, he doomed humanity to endure the Cordyceps without a shot at a cure whilst killing scores of people, of course someone would come after him.
Regarding the end, when Ellie sees a flash of Joel on the porch and then we see the full flashback. She says she would like to try and forgive Joel for what he did and that what she does with Abby. Try to forgive and let go. That’s just how interpreted that moment.
Also, the Scars with their hammers had nothing on Abby when her pythons were unleashed. She looked badass when brawling!
That is in my opinion the aim of the game, letting you see both sides of the story, many people did not understand at all the point of the game, and just kept seeking revenge against Abby, being disappointed when Ellie let her survive
I felt so conflicted at the end... I wanted to go to town on Abby, and at the same time I wanted Ellie to spare her... I just wish they explored Abby's character longer instead of trying to condense the entirety of "TLoU but with Abby" in just a few hours... I get what they were going for, but it was a bit too rushed. At least they should've shown Abby to be more remorseful about killing Joel, then her change of heart wouldn't come so out of nowhere as it did. Still, great game.

I loved the game. I agreed to everything you said. I had to take a break after playing as a certain character for a while, I started to feel like I wanted to get it over with and see the end. But after I took a break from the game for a couple of weeks, I started playing again and it didn't bother me as much. I give the game a 8/10. This. Exactly what happened with me. 4 hours in and I stopped playing with that character. Little did I know there was still about 4-6 hours left... That's the main reason why I'd give the game a lower rating. It's because of how they structured it. If I had to that character in the beginning and have both paths meet, it would have been much better.

I loved it too! Just as much as the first. I sat on it for a while after only playing the first chapter or so, but I've just come back and smashed through the game exploring every single nook at 50 hours and finally finished. Loved it 100%, loved the characters, Abby was great IMO. I would love to see her an Ellie eventually see eye to eye and work together, two very powerful ladies. Honestly we'd all hate Abby if we didn't get her origin, but playing out so much of her story was great.
Yeah I was invested emotionally too so when "that moment" happened I had to turn the game off lol. Really made me feel a way.. but when my wife had the same reaction as me (she watched me play part 1) I knew I wasnt the only one. This game is a masterpiece for those reasons on top of everything else.

The game combat is what really sets it apart. Especially facing human opponents! I would of replayed it a second time on the new difficulty if it didn't go off ps now. Its one of the few games that blew me away with the combat situations you would get in.
I loved the gameplay, the story, setting...everything. So many fans hated how the story went but I loved it. Definitely in my top 10 favorite games. And yes, the graphics are consistently gorgeous and at times I would completely stop playing and just stare at my tv. Jaw dropping.

I still enjoying the gameplay after not only finishing the game for 4 times and playing my favorite encounters in different difficultys and it's one of the best gameplay I ever experienced because of the cool animaitions and details.
I completed the game and IMO this game is a masterpiece if u don't try to be a 'smart-ass'. You will love it if u take it as it is and don't try to be an expert. It is an amazingly depressing story of love, revenge and loss.
Amazing direction, acting, graphics and the gameplay is great very similar to the previous game but amazing nonetheless.

It makes you think about so many things and makes you feel so many different emotions, and it’s much more complex than the first one. I feel like people wanted a game that didn’t make you think, they got the opposite, and they got mad, it’s sad really.

@@moai4110 That's literally the point of the game tho. You see your favorite character get killed, so you immediately hate the killer, that's everyone's reflex. The genius part is that during the game, you learn that your reflex was flawed, because the person you hate is not even that bad, compared to the main characters, who are also psychopathic murderers. At the end of game, you understand just how much of the empathy you feel towards character is created by just being close to them, by having the camera on their shoulder, and that's why it's a brilliant use of the medium
@@moai4110 The whole fucking point of the game is that you're fighting your initial reaction. The goal is for you to hate abby. What you also need to start doing, if you're a rational human being, is when seeing what happens to Abby, you realize that she's not worse than anybody, so you start hating her less and less. But the manchildren playing this game have such hate boners that they can never learn to forgive, and that's the point of the game, forgiveness, both on the player's part and the characters.

honestly, i find the story fine. the first one is a simpler tale and really an exploration of how a relationship develops over time. This one is more a rumination on how a person can be humanized by another. its got some flaws sure, but the game itself is better and overall it balances out. Id say the two games are pretty equal, where one has a better story but weaker moment to moment gameplay, the other is the reverse.

@@quinnmarchese6313 nah dude I get you have your opinion and I respect it but after finishing it this is a complete and utter chaos, nobody prepared us for what was to come, the game looks amazing and I loved the graphics but the story is not fun, the gameplay Is pretty much the same but I would also argue that at some points it's even worse than the first one, I never actually had any problems in the first one but sometimes stupid shit like being being shot while I was under cover and stuff like that happened to me on the first one but it didn't matter cause the story was consistent and I wanted to see more, you cared for the two of them and I didn't have to play for half an hour or even an hour for something interesting to happen
Now jumping to this new game the gameplay is kinda fix but new features look weird, look beautiful and the attention to detail is on point but none of that matters cause you don't really care for the story, I was so into it at the beginning but then after the first hour if you know what happens, you're like "then what's the point" why would you do that naughty dog? You just changed the whole story and now you bring new characters which I don't really know and they are not interesting enough for me to care about, honestly I didn't even wanted a sequel to begin with cause there was no reason for it or maybe if it was the game could have been focused more on the major story event of the first one and not a revenge story, but I decided to finish it up and what do you know the ending was a disappoinment, is basically a masochism story, they just want you to suffer and for what? You give everything to complete your mission and for what? I'm not gonna say any spoilers but it's hard to prove a point without reference but if you played the game you'll get what I mean, not worth my time honestly, I know I have preference but I'm not the only one and you know it so, I'm sorry if you don't agree with me and I respect your opinion but I don't share the same one and I think I have a point

But alas, he does show favoritism to some generes/themes and I take some of his review with a little more grain of salt.
Also I never trust 100% any reviewer, I have some that I trust and they have diverse enough opinions that I can watch them all to finally take my own conclusions of what the game might be, and if it would match my tastes. I simply don't believe people should blindly trust any reviewer, or just use specific ones to confirm what they suspect the game might be while ignoring others.

First, it wasn’t Joel that decided to go. It was Tommy. Second, you could tell Joel was apprehensive about it. Third, it’s was a snow storm and they were being chased by a horde of clickers after being out all night. They didn’t have much of a choice. There is nothing wrong with the story. Fourth, the girl just helped them get through the horde. You may not have liked it but that doesn’t mean it was bad. Unless, you can break it down and explain the mechanics in a story and how you would have done it better, you need to shut the fuck up.
i can see how you got bored w stealth, but personally that never happened to me. i thought there was a fair amount of variety to doing it, and maaan the melee combos are so varied. i really loved using the bow, the gun-silencer and the trap-mines !! also i enjoyed how the encounters were different to play as abby.
For me the story was really good it was risky but I like the risk they took and I am sure that they knew about the impact the game will leave on fans. Gameplay was like the first game 75% but when I think it is set in the same world so there’s not much they could add low supplies and other things, but they really did the change on the story,,, other than that if someone gonna play it play with an open mind and put yourself in every character shoes and think what would you do.
Well considering it killed the franchise. I dont think they knew the ramifications of what they did.

I think there’s room for a midquel DLC from Jesse’s perspective.
First going on patrol to meet Joel and Tommy, then after they fail to show up, seeking out Ellie and Dina, and then finding Joel dead and Ellie knocked unconscious.
After that, following Ellie and Dina to Seattle, while fending off a few wolves and scars, then day after joining Ellie in search for Tommy, splitting up from her to bust Tommy out of the marina, and then getting Ellie out of the aquarium.
I think there’s a lot of potential for a good story there, and it could fill some plot holes. 2 in particular that I thought of:
1. In the sniper part, Manny said he called for backup that was supposed to arrive. We did see them leave to deal with a sniper, which Jesse believed is Tommy. Most likely Jesse ambushed them.
2. While I was glad to see Yara throw Tommy off, I didn’t understand how the hell did she get there. Maybe she briefly teamed up with Jesse.
Ok so, gameranx is the only channel I trust concerning games. You guys have NEVER steered me wrong so based on this review, I bought the game. I really didn't think that the story could get much better than part 1. I was wrong....I can understand why people can be upset with this game...and I was too....at first. But once the devs showed me the HUMAN side of Abby, I fell in absolute love with the game. I don't quite understand why people can hate this game. It is, quite possibly, the most complex story of raw human emotion ever portrayed in a game. I've read articles about the actress that voiced Abby receiving death threats....why? We are all human, we all believe in whatever team we are on. How can you disapprove of this masterpiece?
I totally agree the devs brought us such a special experience to us that some people were crying about that they didn't see what the story was really about
