I totally agree. In fact, the scene in book 5 where Harry sees Neville visiting his parents at St. Mungo's had me emotional when I first read it. Neville is a great character, and a true hero.
One part I find sad is when Neville looks at Harry Ron and Hermione as if he thinks they're going to laugh at his parents. "Neville looked at them as though daring them to laugh but Harry didn't think he'd found anything less funny in his life." And that makes Snape even more of a prick for bullying Neville for not being the child that Voldemort targeted which is sick. He was fine with the idea of Frank, Alice and Neville dying just as he was with James and Harry dying as long as Lily lived and he could have her to himself. Snape's a great character but his fangirls who insist he's this great hero and brave man really get on my nerves. As do the people who think he's morally ambiguous and neither good nor evil. He was a bad guy who happened to help the good guys because Voldemort killed his obsession. He did not love Lily. He lusted after her. Only liking her looks and wanting to have sex with her isn't love. It's lust. If he really loved her he wouldn't have hung around with dark magic using bullies who did far worse than the Marauders ever did to him. Nor would have joined or even wanted to join the Death Eaters who wanted to kill her and all Muggleborns like her. Being OK with Voldemort killing Lily's husband and son as long as he didn't kill her indicates more obsession than love.
I glad it was Molly whomkilledbher and not Neville and hears why Mollysaved her daughter and her two friends one of the and probably even both of them are like daughters to her aswell7and she saved Neville from the killing someone granted she Evil as evil can get but the fact that he killed someone I think may do him more harm the good. But even though I may disagree with what you think I understand why you think it and I stand by your right to think it have an awesome day alwayband stay safe please.
That is absolutely a faint or than death if you ask me! Sure killing them would have been bad. However at least then they wouldn’t have suffered nearly as much!
The Longbottom's definitely did suffer a fate worse than death. To be alive but not recognize your family, your only son, and tell him simply you love him. Man that crushes my heart. I'm glad Neville was able to live up to his family's name. He struggled at the beginning because he had his dad's wand, but he had to become his own person and then he he could step into his dad's shoes. I know his parents would've been extremely proud of him. Gryffindor Pride.🦁⚡🤘
And also why Barty Crouch Jr getting the Dementor's Kiss was wholly deserved because he was part of the group that tortured the Longbottoms. Him, Bellatrix and the others inflicted a fate worse than death on Frank and Alice so that was what Barty got when the Dementor sucked out his soul and left him as an empty shell.
The torture the Longbottoms endured was worse than death. And we all know that particular group of Death Eaters didn't know the meaning of humane. I'm pretty sure Bellatrix got some sick pleasure out of it for sure. But, while in St. Mungos, they were taken care of and Neville could visit them so I don't know if it would have been better if they had died. I don't think he would have turned out the same. He probably would have just grieved and remained the quiet boy he was in the beginning. But, his visits eventually became motivation once Voldemort returned and released Bellatrix and the Lestrange brothers. He could visualize them there and probably figured they would repeat the torment on someone else if need be if they weren't stopped.
Definitely. Voldemort didn't care. He was eliminating threats to his power. Didn't matter if they were barely over a year old. Trelawney's prophecy said this threat would be marked as his equal. In voldemort's mind, he was thinking rival dark lord. Many of his followers did after he was defeated. One theory is that Mr. Malfoy encouraged Draco to befriend Harry in case that was true. Until they realized how kind hearted he actually was.
Voldemort would certainly have killed the Longbottoms as to him, nothing is worse than death. That’s kind of why the death eaters are scarier than their boss in a way. Voldemort was evil, but he was chasing after a certain goal of wizard dominance and his own immortality, not necessarily satisfying some kind of sadistic urge. Once he couldn’t obtain whatever he wanted from someone, he’d just kill them - he wouldn’t waste his time designing intricate methods of torture just for the pleasure of it, because he didn’t really derive pleasure, or any feeling from other people’s emotions - everything and everyone was a means to an end, disposable (even the death eaters, though they were in denial about this). But Voldemort attracted people who wanted an outlet for their own violent, psychopathic, sadistic tendencies, like Bellatrix. So these followers are a lot more terrifying. If you get caught by Voldemort you at least know you’ll die pretty quickly, but with the death eaters? Who knows what’s in store.
That’s so true even Dumbledore states that he would rather die in Voldermont’s hands than Bellatrix coz she likes to ‘play’ with her victims before finishing them off.
The idiots could have just used the imperius curse and ask them any information they knew. They used the cruciatus curse for pleasure. I always hoped Neville would be the one to kill Bellatrix.
They were skilled Aurors. I do believe they maybe had skills in Occlumency and it is possible for a non-occlumant to push away the effects of the Imperius.
They should have used the cruciatus curse to confuse their minds and to stop them from focusing on resisting the empirius curse which they would use next.
It had to be Molly that killed Bellatrix...Molly who was basically the Mother of The Order during the second Wizarding War. Her killing Bellatrix was a very symbolic way to avenge not just the Weasleys but also the Potters, Longbottoms, Lupins, Sirius, and so so so many others. She - as mothers often do - bore the weight of so many grieving children and her killing Bellatrix, an exceptionally powerful witch made infinitely more dangerous by her bloodthirst and cruelty, was the equivalent of a mother lifting a car off her child but so much more.
They likely were screaming so loudly and for so long that their brains could no longer process what they were experiencing, and just shut down. It wasn't until then that the torture stopped... truly sickening. Not only that, the 4 death eaters watched Frank experience this, and then saw fit to put Alice through the same thing.
...In a way, they did 'kill' the Longbottoms. Torturing someone so brutally that they completely loose their mind and forget everything, their friends and loved ones...The people called Frank and Alice Longbottom were destroyed, leaving behind strangers who still wear their faces. So, in a way, they are dead, and its made all the more painful, because the memories that made them who they were are never coming back, but their faces remain, showing their loved ones two people they want to see again so badly, but will never be able to. At least in death, one can sooner or later come to accept what happened and move on. Moving on is much harder when you can see your loved one, but are forever parted from them.
The good thing about death is that Harry’s parents had their souls liberated by being killed. Voldemort’s soul never got liberated because of the fact he made horcrux. Neville’s parents were neither alive nor were their souls liberated. This will continue to torment Neville for his entire life, every time he sees them he remembers that. This is indeed worse than Death.
This story makes me sad. I do think they suffered a more disastrous fate then the Potters, the best way it can be described is the Potters suffered the fate of death while Neville’s parents stayed in limbo kinda like if they were in a coma instead of dying.
For the love of God, don't begin every single word with a capital letter - it just looks awkward and superfluous and makes messages very difficult to read!
I feel so bad for Neville because he has to live knowing his parents are alive, but don't know him, and there's always going to be that negative aura when he thinks about them, talks to them or even looks at them, therefore I believe this was a fate worse than death
Gerald Singer Interesting. In the 19th century a LeStrange was Minister of Magic. The LeStranges were a dark family. I think Leta will turn out to be not just a user but evil.
Sooo amazing. I think they suffered a fate worse than death. Although it’s arguable because at least Nevil gets some sort of interaction with his parents. It’s kind of a loose loose situation
At least you don't have to wake up everyday knowing that your parents were tortured to the brink of insanity, seeing them knowing that they don't even recognize you, he's fate is I would describe like the punishment of Tantalus, having parents but never truly getting to experience parental love but at least he didn't get abused other than the peer pressure he's family gives him
Nick Hentschel They should be executed. I reme my uncle telling my aunt about the Notorious Hi Fi shop murders in Ogden, UT. My aunt remarked "They're just going to have to bring back the Death Penalty. That's what happened and about twenty years later two of the perpetrators were put to death."
MACUSA would have done it. At the very least, they could have executed the Dementor's kiss, like they did to Barty Crouch, Jr. in the end. I don't like wishing that on anybody (pretty appaledd at msyelf, actually), but it would have been safer for everyone in the long run.
It is undoubtedly a fate worse than death. Neville not only has to bare witness to the fractured state of both his parents but must also live with the fact that they will never know their true connection to him every time he visits.
I think that the Longbottom’s being tortured so severely where it basically left them brain dead is worse than death. It also left them not being able to do anything for themselves anymore, or even have a voice to be able to communicate with their loved ones, including with each other.
Im crying they definitely had a much worse fate then death. I have always loved Neville Longbottom and felt his story much worse than harrys especially with how much it impacted his life.
Frank and Alice Longbottom definitely suffered a fate worse than death. At least their torturers eventually got their comeuppance; especially with Barty Crouch Jr. being sentenced with the Dementor's Kiss and Bellatrix being killed by Molly Weasley.
@@Shade571 well at the same time, the longbottoms were brutally tortured to achieve that state while barty jr simply had his soul sucked out. He got a faster, probably much less painful way to go.
I’ve always wondered why the Ministry didn’t use the dementors kiss on the ones who tortured the Longbottom’s I know it’s not a good fate but I think it’s only fair
What was done to Frank and Alice Longbottom is beyond words and by extension Neville also suffered the aftershocks of that tragedy. Harry and many others who lost loved ones during the first war suffered a different kind of grief. They suffered a closed grief. It is done, it is over and speaking from the standpoint of trauma, that closure is one of the first steps towards healing. For Frank, Alice, and yes, Neville too the nightmare never ended. Imagine feeling like you should know someone, knowingnthey are important...but never being able to grasp why? The pain may have stopped, but the nightmare never ended. And that is absolutely a fate worse than death. Just a side note, I see a lot of people talking about Bellatrixs death and how Neville should have been the one to kill her...I disagree. Molly killing Bellatrix was very appropriate and very necessary. She was essentially the Mother of the Order during the second Wizarding War. She wiped the tears and bore the grief of so so so many traumatized and broken children. Everyone knew Molly Weasley and she was famous for being kind of the quintessential mother. I don't think she would have turned any child away and her being the one to end Bellatrix was very symbolicked. Molly stood there as a mother, an auntie, a sister, a friend. She became the symbolic face of all Bellatrixs victims and the avenger of all those left to grieve. Bellatrixs death had to be at the hands of Molly Weasley...
The torture of the Longbottom was worse than death in multiple ways. First, Neville. Neville had to endure the pain of meeting and seeing his parents without them really being there. He never got to experience their love and affection in the way that he should have been able to. Second, them. Frank was perhaps the luckier of the two being tortured into insanity first, as Alice had to watch him be tortured and then experience the torture herself and feeling that pain doubly as she realized what they put Frank through. Third, their lives. The truly most inhumane part of this is that they lost the it sanity so early in their lives that some of even the most basic milestones in a person’s life were ripped away from them and they never got to experience their son growing up. And lastly, the Deatheaters. The Deatheaters who did this egregious crime were not properly punished. They were locked away in Azkaban, yes, but that can’t possibly have been punishing enough for they were just as bad when they broke out. If I were the one sentencing them, their punishment for this, and all their other crimes, would be death, and preferably not a quick or painless one. Such a merciless and disgusting human being deserves no mercy. And while some may say that death is a mercy, would you rather they be left to break free of their punishment and do the same to countless more innocent people?
It is such a sad story! I was never really into Harry Potter, but I remember when I watched the 4th movie because my friends wanted to and I saw Neville standing there being in pain from watching the spider suffer from the cruciatus curse and I was like wonder what this is about, after we saw the movie I went home to find out more. When I found out the complete story about Neville and the longbuttoms it broke my heart and I always hoped that they would come back to them self! What a moment that would have been. But the whole story got me into Harry Potter world and I knew Neville would be a hero and get what he deserved in the end some glory :)
Worse than death? Maybe not for the Longbottoms themselves they are, for a lack of a better term, blissfully ignorant about their situation. However, knowing that your parents are still alive, being able to see them but, them not knowing you and not beinig able to look after themselves I feel would be more heart wrenching than visiting a grave site.
Also, I believe that Rodolphus Lestrange prefers psychological torture to physical one, or more exactly that he takes pleasure in psychologically breaking someone. In the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, he used a curse to mess up Ron's head instead of any other curse. I believe the Death Eaters should have killed them instead of making them suffer such a fate.
I wanted to cry. But I made my own Theory about what to happen Neville’s parents. My theory is that Frank was on his way home when he was attacked right outside his house and Alice was putting Neville down for a nap when she hears a loud bang and scream so she goes to check it out when she gets down stairs she sees her husband being tortured. Alice runs to help him but Bellatrix attacks her and she shouts tell us where our master is both of you. But Neville’s parents don’t give in then they snap and The Ministry Of Magic show up and arrestees the three death eaters they see what did they too Alice and Frank. That’s my theory on what happened to Neville’s parents.
KatyBoe Baty Take a look at my theory, In it they came to the Longbottom home when Neville was about three, Neville was likely tourtured himself but recovered because he was a small boy.
This made me cry. You once said that these stories remind us that the Harry Potter series, at its heart, is simply a very sad story. I still can’t get over when they find out Neville saved every single gum wrapper. I don’t think they would have been better off dead though. Insanity can kind of numb the brain to a lot of suffering, and they still got to see and loved him very much. Thanks to him, I think they lived the best lives they could after what happened. And they meant the world to him, no matter if they remembered he was their son. That’s important too.
It was worse than death because at least Harry allways remembered that his family was happy but for Neville it was different every time he visited his family he got reminded of how bad they were
Yes Frank and Alice did suffer a worse fate then death because as Sirius says ,when Harry uses the resurrection stone , 'death is just easier and faster then falling asleep ' but they had to go through so much pain and never were sane again
Yes. And yes. It is worse than death. They didn't even kill them after they became incapacitated. Bellatrix is one of the most cruel Dark Wizards/Witches EVER. And something that just crossed my mind while typing this is that one of the perpetrators (Barty Crouch Junior) also suffered a fate worse than death later on.
Echelon815 Barty was the kid who tagged along for the ride. I don't know if he knew how serious what he was getting into was. I think for him being a Death Eater was a way to get back at his father.
I really couldn't think which it is worse! Great video btw! If I lose my parents at early age & keep hearing stories about them, I would feel lost but trying to find identity, like wondering about their stories. But me being a youngest daughter, I am loved by my living parents & if they died today, I would weep forever. But anyway, as for Harry, I know he was longed for parents' presence for love & nurturing but he has family & friends who were always there for him. As for Neville, man, him knowing about his parents' stories & how they lived, it gotta be desperate. Seeing his parents on specific days while at the hospital & not knowing who is Neville is very sad, they are there. Both of Harry & Neville need their parents words or gestures. Like Harry's mom said, we are very proud of you or Neville's mom kept giving him a candy wrappers. I really dont know which it worse but I would say, both but at least they know their parents' stories. ❤❤
I would love to see a episode on the life of Andromeda Tonks, wife of Ted mother of Nyphadora sister of Bellatrix and Narsisa. She was one of the only Blacks that was not Evil, Sieroius being the other. Her husband, daughter, cousin and son in law were all killed leaving her alone with her infant grandson. The story does not say but I would hope Harry and Ginny would have embraced her as a member of their extended family and she would have some happiness.
This story brought me to tears. I love this channel because it just makes the characters more real everyday; like they really existed which is why it was so emotional. I think what happened to them was worse than death; the idea that they're lost in their own minds unable to make clear their feelings is very sad. I believe somewhere deep inside they are aware of things, but their minds were so damaged that conveying anything is too difficult. I do wish Rowling would have added some semblance of hope at the end of the series; not a complete turn around, but a glimmer of hope that they would have gotten better. More for Neville than the fans😢
Bellatrix isn't exactly the humane type so that would never have happened with her, she enjoys pain and suffering and death is as Sirius described it "Quicker than falling asleep" so this would of never happened with the death eaters.
Awesome video! It's about time, they got a video on them. Their fate is so cruel. Poor Neville....he made them proud! Such a shame their story never made into the movies especially st. Mungos. It's a shame their sanity was never restored. It's also sad they're often forgotten about. Their fate was indeed a fate worse than death.... 😭 You did an awesome job! I love it! You're so creative! 😍💜💓💝
It is a fate worse than death not only for them but for Neville as well. I lost my father when I was 11, it was extremely painful. However, I cannot imagine the pain of seeing your family reduced to the state they were, and couldn’t even recognize you. to know they’re still alive but will never be able to truly be parents to you is heartbreaking
I think frank and Alice did suffer a fate worse than death as they don’t know that Neville is their son they do know that he is a loved one but I do feel sorry for Neville as he had to grow up knowing what happened to his mother and father and seeing what that curse did to them and what dark magic can do I think that gave Neville confidence and motivation to fight back at the death eaters and I think that Neville is brave and his mum and dad are very proud of him . Great video I’ve been waiting for this video Neville is one of my favourite characters in the series 💛💚❤️💙
Yes it's a fate worse than death. Not so much for the couple, but for the friends and loved ones who remember them from before the attack. It's like seeing your loved one go through dementia or Alzheimer's. Its devastating to see them forget you.
Of course being an empty shell is a lot worse especially for friends and family. Accepting death like Harry does is a lot easier than what Neville goes through. It’s a bit like the second brother, he couldn’t live with his ghost wife so he chose to join her in death. This makes Neville and Augusta much stronger people to not give in. Also the drawing of him giving the sword to his parents brought tears to my eyes.
You should make a video of Augusta longbottom who faced ministry all alone and fought like a elder lioness and went into hiding during 2nd wizarding war..
Killing the Longbottoms would have been more humane, and smarter on the Death-Eaters' part. More humane as the damage on them was serious, they had lost their minds, and - because of this - they had no quality of life. Smarter, from the Death-Eaters perspective, as, by eliminating them permanently, killing them would eliminate any possibility of recovery. In Harry Potter, it is canonical that no magic can raise the dead, but - as far as Mrs and Mr Longbottom's madness is concerned - we only know that no spells can restore their minds currently. Now, this doesn't mean that its likely that on some average Tuesday afternoon a young healer will realise how to cure them and do so by casting Obliviate until they have forgotten their madness and their torture, but it is possible that a cure might come along - magic is like muggle science, it is forever changing and moving forward. And the Death-Eaters wouldn't want to risk the possibility of the Longbottom's recovering and being restored to their full powers. Before their madness, Frank and Alice were formidable aurors - which makes them a threat to the Death-Eaters. This, plus the fact that - if they were ever restored - they would have a deep resentment against the people who stole; their sanity, nearly twenty years of their lives, and the opportunity to raise their son. This is a scary combination, and - for all the Death-Eaters know - it might lead the Longbottoms to go vigilante and start picking them off one by one. Is any of this likely, no. It is not likely that the Longbottoms could be cured, the were damaged by powerful dark magic and - despite a very long stay at St. Mungo's - no remedy has been successful. Nor is it likely that Frank and Alice Longbottom, as moral people, would start a crusade against the Death-Eaters. But, both are possible within the confines of what we know about human nature and the magic of the Wizarding world, And I imagine that the Death-Eaters, who have no qualms about killing and who's master's paranoia had him try to kill a baby because there was a chance that he'd grow up to vanquish him, would be inclined to eliminate the possibility of the Longbottoms' recovery. I also think that, because the Death-Eaters lack the Longbottoms' morality, they would think it probable that - if the Longbottoms recovered - the Longbottoms would go on a Death-Eater killing spree.
Neville’s parents fate may even be worse then Harry’s parents, because Neville gets reminded his parents will never get to see him mature, get married etc. I cried whilst reading that part in the book. Neville is *VERY* underrated. He does suffer without his parents presence😓
Was Crouch Jr. really involved our simply in wrong place at the wrong time? The fact that Crouch jr. pleaded with his father to acknowledge his innocence was it just to get out of jail or was he being sincere?
I think Rowling just made a point here that some things are just too evil to be able to be reversed, such as that too much damage done by the cruciatus curse will cause irreversable harm to the victim. Having characters being able to recover from that would be the same as saying that this curse wasn't as bad as it first sounded and that would mean that the events in the story would be weakened, causing the plot to be weakened as a result. And the plot is the most important thing in the story itself after all, even moreso than the characters walking within. As much as I dislike it to say, I agreed with Rowling fulheartidly on the horrible fate that she had given even to good characters such as Snape and in this case to the Longbottom's. But I still dislike it.
I think this is the best video you have done yet! (Out of a long list of excellent videos) The emotion you invoke here is outstanding! You just raise the barr to a level that the rest of us are left in awe to aspire to!
8:10. I dont know, that part about not knowing who he was, but that hes loved, and giving Neville the only thing she could probably even hold on to, chewing gum wrappers. That, is so unbelievably painful. Neville is definitely an underrated character in a way.
Imagine someone's literally starving..they can see the food but can not eat it (Now replace someone with Neville, starvation with love and food with his parents) I can imagine how horrible it is
Who the hell decided not to have the hospital scene with Neville’s parents in the films? It would of been such an emotional powerful scene! What weee they thinking!
Is there any dark wizards from beubatons. Can u do a video on that because we know about dark wizards from there durmstrang and hogwarts . And if there is any from other schools can u mention them also pls can u all leave a like for him to see
It is a fate worse than death. The fact that they may never recover is the sad reality.
Great job as always.
I totally agree. In fact, the scene in book 5 where Harry sees Neville visiting his parents at St. Mungo's had me emotional when I first read it. Neville is a great character, and a true hero.
Caleb Leland exactly,I love Neville so much
Caleb Leland Oh, yes. I couldn't imagine what Neville must've been thinking when his friends found out about his parents.
GRYFFINDOR PRIDE Don't we all? 😊

*Neville should have killed Bellatrix even though Molly's scene was cool it should've been Neville to seek revenge.*

Yeah but killing nagini is more heroic and not mere revenge yet molly beating her by defence, so all stayed immaculate of murders.
I think Harry should as well. Revenge for Sirius!
That is absolutely a faint or than death if you ask me! Sure killing them would have been bad. However at least then they wouldn’t have suffered nearly as much!
This scene is subverting expectations done right in my opinion.

Neville has it the hardest out of everyone in the series in my opinion
Honestly it’s worse for those around them they aren’t even aware of how painful they dont remember who anyone is because they don’t remember anyone
And that kids is why Bellatrix's death was one of the best in Harry Potter.
amarjit saini
Bellatrix should not have been sent to Azkaban. She and her partners in crime should have been put to death.
ikr dude
Carlos Wilson nah death is too nice for them . A dementor’s kiss though, that’s a good starting point
JK Rowling herself said that she particularly enjoyed killing her off - and having Molly be the one to do it!
And also why Barty Crouch Jr getting the Dementor's Kiss was wholly deserved because he was part of the group that tortured the Longbottoms. I will add I think Voldemort intended to kill both boys but after the attack on Harry Potter he was quite incapacitated.
Carlos Wilson So in a way Harry kinda saved Neville??
Kool Aid yeah I would say that. Harry was just first. Voldy definitely would've just done away with both of the babies, never thought of that

It wasn't until then that the torture stopped... truly sickening. Not only that, the 4 death eaters watched Frank experience this, and then saw fit to put Alice through the same thing.
“The fate that many considered worst than death”
Hermione: they got expelled.

Hah!
...In a way, they did 'kill' the Longbottoms.
*than
Hey at least neville got to know his parents and are still alive i disagree i think the potters suffered a worse fate but good point
Edit: *HAPPY NOW*
For the love of God, don't begin every single word with a capital letter - it just looks awkward and superfluous and makes messages very difficult to read!
At least the Potters didn't suffer unlike the Longbottoms so yeah they suffered more
@@harryjamespotter5237 Neville didn't get to know them. They were never the same again, they were empty shells.
I feel so bad for Neville because he has to live knowing his parents are alive, but don't know him, and there's always going to be that negative aura when he thinks about them, talks to them or even looks at them, therefore I believe this was a fate worse than death

So amazing. I wish we saw Frank and Alice Longbottom more in the films. I think they suffered a fate worse than death.
Sooo amazing. I think they suffered a fate worse than death. Although it’s arguable because at least Nevil gets some sort of interaction with his parents. It’s kind of a loose loose situation

At least you don't have to wake up everyday knowing that your parents were tortured to the brink of insanity, seeing them knowing that they don't even recognize you,
he's fate is I would describe like the punishment of Tantalus, having parents but never truly getting to experience parental love
but at least he didn't get abused other than the peer pressure he's family gives him
Nevil? It's Neville.
I love the passage where the grandmother was attacked by DeathEaters and she handed their arses to them. Don't underestimate Nanas

I remember that. They were taking Augusta to Azkaban and she dumped them into the ocean. Dawlish was in St. Mungo's for months.
I feel so bad for Neville, if his parents werent tortured to insanity, he wouldn't have struggled with his confidence
Azkaban's too good for the Death Eaters, when they do things like this.
Nick Hentschel
They should be executed.
They should have told the dementors to give them a very hard time
It is undoubtedly a fate worse than death. Neville not only has to bare witness to the fractured state of both his parents but must also live with the fact that they will never know their true connection to him every time he visits.
Yes. It is worse than death. Having a parent (or in this case, two) lose their mind and not know who their family is, is completely soul-destroying.
Wow,Dean your pumping these videos soo fast I can’t even imagine how hard your working

I think the Death Eaters were about to kill poor ol Frank and Alice at the time of the attack but decided that there was no need to do so.
Frank and Alice Longbottom definitely suffered a fate worse than death. At least their torturers eventually got their comeuppance; especially with Barty Crouch Jr. being sentenced with the Dementor's Kiss and Bellatrix being killed by Molly Weasley.

Not enough in my opinion. They should have suffered the same fate as the longbottoms.
What about Rodolphus and the other one?

@@Shade571 well at the same time, the longbottoms were brutally tortured to achieve that state while barty jr simply had his soul sucked out. He got a faster, probably much less painful way to go.
I’ve always wondered why the Ministry didn’t use the dementors kiss on the ones who tortured the Longbottom’s I know it’s not a good fate but I think it’s only fair
Or they could have had them sentenced to death.

Wow, awesome work! More please! We love your work!
And while some may say that death is a mercy, would you rather they be left to break free of their punishment and do the same to countless more innocent people?
first time I cried with a video... Their stories always made me hurt so much. This is way worse than having dead parents.
Yes it was a fate worse than death. Once again your hard and diligent work moved me almost to tears. Very well done.

Yes love this... great video HPF! Love this ...I believe that they did suffer worse then Death. ...They were Hero's though through it all. Thank you!

KatyBoe Baty
Take a look at my theory, In it they came to the Longbottom home when Neville was about three, Neville was likely tourtured himself but recovered because he was a small boy.
Echelon815
Barty was the kid who tagged along for the ride. I don't know if he knew how serious what he was getting into was. I think for him being a Death Eater was a way to get back at his father.
Carlos Wilson Seeing the great lengths he went through in Goblet of Fire, he seemed legitimately into it.
He was extremely loyal to Voldemort, so I kind of think he wasn’t just along for the ride
"Great work Dean."
From one Harry Potter fan to another
Wow loved it
Awesome video and what Happened if Lily and James Potter survived?
Crucio is said to be excruciatingly painful, just imagine 4 people doing it
Bellatrix isn't exactly the humane type so that would never have happened with her, she enjoys pain and suffering and death is as Sirius described it "Quicker than falling asleep" so this would of never happened with the death eaters.
Your the best dean and your vids are so amazing. I come home everyday and look to see if you have a new video up.
You did an awesome job!

Your video was so great thank you for making it.
That chapter in St. Mungo's always makes me sad every time I read it.

No i aggree what his parents are going thru is no life at all
Neville is one of my favourite characters. He is just so innocent, and then he just fights when Harry “died”. He is such a beautiful character.
Another amazing video created by an amazing UA-camr

Neville’s parents fate may even be worse then Harry’s parents, because Neville gets reminded his parents will never get to see him mature, get married etc. I cried whilst reading that part in the book. Neville is *VERY* underrated. He does suffer without his parents presence😓
Surprised that no one objected to Barty Crouch Sr was allowed to preside over the trial of his son. No one in the Wizengamot ever question that?
Katheryne Koelker
You are so judicially correct. Barty Crouch Sr, SHOULD HAVE PRESIDED OVER HIS OWN SON'S TRIAL.
Carlos Wilson You mean "should not"?
Was Crouch Jr. really involved our simply in wrong place at the wrong time? The fact that Crouch jr. pleaded with his father to acknowledge his innocence was it just to get out of jail or was he being sincere?
I love how in depth all the comments are the Harry Potter community is beautiful
(Out of a long list of excellent videos)
