Minister Cornelius Oswald Fudge, Order of Merlin (First Class), was the Minister for Magic from 1990-1996. Although considered good natured early in his term, his neglect, ignorance and complete denial of Voldemort’s return led him to go down in history as one of if not the weakest, most ineffective minister of magic in the history of the British ministry.

He is possibly the most underrated villain of the whole series. We all hate Umbridge who is far more evil (and even joined the Dark Lords side in Deathly Hallows) but Cornelius Fudge was the brains behind the whole scandal and indirectly helped Voldemort gain power from the ministry.
Brains LOL that's rich.
He wasn't the brains if you read the book properly you'd know it was Umbridge pulling the strings with that. Like the line in both movie and books what fudge doesn't know won't hurt him. He was her tool easily lead also he wrote to albus everyday asking for advice till he turned coat and went into denial, if he was the brains he wouldn't have been asking for help when he was the head of the ministry all the time. He was a weak man not a villain.
He gave himself the Order of Merlin?! Wow I didn't know that before....a bit brazen of him I'd say.
Michelle Anya quite brazen I'd say
It should have been unlawful for a Minister of Magic to give himself any sort of Order of Merlin!
Brazen? No. Irresponsible and arrogant? YES!!!
Sounds like Donald Trump giving himself a pardon. Arrogant bastards.
very brazen indeed
Fudge was Voldemort's most effective agent
Is it just me or is Fudge basically what happens when you take the worst of Biden and Trump and fuse them together?
Fudge is such a underrated villain he is the worst.
If I was Minister after Fudge, I would have sentenced him to life in Azkaban to await the Dementor's Kiss for perverting the course of justice in preventing Voldemort's second return.
I don't think that would work
Wow I was expecting more than a recap of the series
He was more afraid of keeping his job, rather then actually doing it.
If he actually used dumbledore's advice he may of been ministers of all time but he never took his advice and became the worst minister in the wizarding world.
"He's not back"
Yeaaaahhh....cuz only Slytherins are ambitious right? Wait... what house was Percy in again?
Percy Weasley's ambitions were likely fueled by arrogant pride, a common trait among Gryffindors.
Can people please stop comparing Fudge to Chamberlain there's a huge difference in trying to do what he thought would be the best thing for his traumatized country post WW1 that is not dragging his country into yet another bloodbath (Chamberlain) and just not wanting to do anything about it (Fudge) also by delaying the declaration of war against Germany Chamberlain gave Britain enough time to rearm and to put up a good enough fight (even though in 1940 it was a disaster the allies had the sucess of Dunkirk)
What if fudge did believe cheetah the hero Nathan the wizard and Dylan berger that evil lizard has returned
In my opinion the Harry Potter books accurately predicted the fall of Joe Biden in 2021.
WTF?
@@callmeishmael2415 Afghanistan 🇦🇫
You mean when he carried on the Tangerine Turd's orders of withdrawing American troops in u think it was 6 months?
Yeouch, you are clearly way too far from accurate
Rất tiện dụng
Fudge's ignorance was the reason the wizarding world was not totally prepared for Voldemort's return. He was the worst
I blame him for the death of Sirius Black
masteroftheassassins yes
Mee too
Yup
g-bye Cornelius, and good riddance
You SAID it!
The guy who never clickbaits!!
Yup
all this he talked about was already there in the books. might not be click bait, but the title is definitely way off
Here's something. When 3 Hogwarts founders disapproved of teaching Dark Arts, Salazar Slytherin taught it in secret, in the Chamber of Secrets. When the Ministry of Magic disapproved of teaching DADA, Harry Potter taught it in secret, in the Room of Requirement.
Holy..
Oy vey
I could not stand Cornelius Fudge, he let power get into his head. His buddy relationship with Umbridge was disgusting.
Him making Umbridge Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher was one of the worst things he did seeing as it was purely out of paranoia that Dumbledore wanted to use the Hogwarts students as an army to take over the Ministry. With Umbridge not letting them use spells and just forcing them to read the textbooks, had the students not formed the DA and taught themselves Fudge and Umbridge would have cost them a year of learning how to defend themselves. During Order of the Phoenix Fudge was making up more conspiracy theories than Xenophilius Lovegood.
This should be called the life and lies of Cornelius Fudge
Amane Kabbaj did you just seriously quote Rita Skeeter ?
Bitter Sweet Hufflepuff yup
An excellent title for a book or a fabric.
😂 lol that is true and halarious
No it should be called "What Cornelius Fudge Did in the Series and Things You Could Have Read in the Books"
Fudge was a typical politician.
Oooooh you savage! Very good although!
LOL!
Ow that burnt!
YASS
Taylor Van Buskirk you can say that again
hearing his last name during the video makes me hungry for brownies 😂
palemoonlight96 same
So maybe he won his position due to hungry voters

And fudge
History of the Order of Merlin.
Gerald Singer It started out a as an organisation made by Merlin to aid Muggles, then it became an award. It is unknown if the award has any connection 2 the organisation.
One of my favorite parts of the series is when he is talking to the Muggle PM. When he tells the PM that the Minister of Magic only reveals himself to the PM of the day to maintain the secrecy of the magical world. The PM asks "why hasn't a former prime minster warned me." Fudge laughed and said " Are you going to tell anyone"
And at the end of the chapter when PM said "You're wizards you can do magic you surely you can. sort out anything" Fudge said "The other side can do magic to."
Only a Slytherin would rock that sweet green bowler.
Retroflection either them or the Riddler, lol.
Is it just me or do several Slytherins have weird fashion sense? Is it a thing about them or their house or what?
Truth lol
Zero 121 I'm pretty sure Edward Nygma aka the Riddler would be a Slytherin in the HP Universe.
Howard Lanus SILENCE.
Fudge should have been tried for treason and thrown into Azkaban as he endangered both the Wizard and Muggle worlds with what he did. Instead of believing Harry and Dumbledore, he gave Voldemort time to build an army and ran a smear campaign against those who warned him of the coming danger.
Future Ministers of Magic should study this man and do the exact opposite.
Incompetent and weak, he should have been removed the moment he gave himself that Order of Merlin First Class. Seriously, who would even do that?
Having all that power made him paranoid, wanting to placate the Wizarding community.
Could it be that he may have been under the Imperius curse? Who knows....
He obviously wasn't under the Imperius Curse. If he had been under the Imperius Curse, he wouldn't have refused to step aside when Voldemort threatened him to step aside as Minister. But yeah, Fudge definitely cared more about his own image than anyone else's.
I dont agree. being incompetent dont mean you are a traiter. If ou trail any stupid person as traiter you need a lot lot lot more prisons lol
@@marcelsgroot
They didn't say incompetent meant he was a traitor
He also thought Dumbledore was trying to come for his job
Whyyyy....
Will you ever do a theory of what if Dobby survived
Jackson Lego Productions than he probably, would have been known as a hero for those locked in the celler, and he probably would have fought in the battle of hogwarts with Kreacher, and Winky. After the war I believe that he would have been very loyal to Harry and his friends and family
Jackson Lego Productions I believe he would be seen as a hero but then Harry would tell him to go on the run or stay in Hogwarts at all times. Because of him being the reason Harry left Malfoy Manor. Because of him being loyal to harry he would but find it extremely hard to do this. He would come back for the battle of Hogwarts only to be told to leave. He would probably stay being the person he was. He would fight but idk if he would die or not. I have no idea. But that it what I think would happen.
Had Dobby survived, Harry would have given him socks and hats every Christmas. What else would have happened? Oh yeah, Harry would have let Dobbt kiss him too
Fudge is the 2nd weakest Minister for Magic. The 1st one, Hector Fawley, who was Minister for Magic in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, failed to take Grindelwald's threat seriously and as such was replaced by the more proactive Leonard Spencer-Moon. Both Fudge and Fawley are based on ex-Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
It IS canon.
Alex Downs ok
Do what would happen if Ron’s wand never broke and Lockhart erased Ron and Harry’s memories
That would be a dark outcome indeed.
itsyaboy Max why do people ask for the most obvious things? Or things they can figure out themselves?
Ginny would have died, Voldemort would have been revived as Tom Riddle. Dumbledore gets never the diary, thus he will never suspect thatt Voldemort created horcruxes. Dumbledore wouldn't know about the resurrection and Tom could easily built up his power again.
Oh, and Hogwarts would have been definitely closed.
No, he didn't knew that it was horcruxes, he only knew that he _somehow_ prevented death. The diary is the final piece that gave him the knowledge that he created horcruxes. Without it he wouldn't be any smarter about this topic than he was before.
roji exactly
What happens when a ghost goes through the veil?
Dylan Ryann I’m shook
Probably nothing
He stops being a ghost I quess (he doesn't come back he just disappear like he never was a ghost at all)
Well it should be pretty obvious.
People that are ghosts are those who were afraid of death, and preferred to stay in this life rather then the after life.
And apparently once you cross over you can't come back.Seeing as no spirit was ever shown to be able to cross the veil, and come back to the living world.
So I imagine that should a ghost decide they have had enough and want to cross over, they can go through the veil into the after life.
But once they have crossed over the decision is final.
Short of someone using the resurrection stone, they won't be coming back.
richiefranklin76
Good Theory. That gives ghosts an out when they have had enough.
9:03 My God, that is a scary image of Olympe Maxine O_o
Cornelius Fudge AKA the worst Minister for Magic. :P
Fudge isn't the only Minister for Magic 2 do what he did. Hector Fawley, the Minister for Magic during Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, didn't take Grindelwald's threat seriously and as such was replaced by the more proactive Leonard Spencer-Moon. Fudge and Fawley are based on ex-Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
Alex Downs But Atleast He DIDN’T Hire someone like Umbridge. :P
Aye, that's why (until the release of The Last Jedi, that is) I had fudge as number 1 on my "Top 12 DUMBASSES in command" list
Scrimgeour was as worse as him
To be fair, though, Rufus Scrimgeour had a job of a mess to clean up after Fudge's tenure; it can be hard to be effective when you have to come in doing both damage and control and mitigation as well as running things, coming into office right as a war that cannot be averted is really beginning.
When I read the name of the chapter "Cornelius Fudge", I legitimately believed it to be a type of fudge that was omitted from the film, having watched the film before reading the book.
Since his house is unknown, I suspect he was either a Hufflepuff or a Slytherin. Since he is clearly not brave enough to be a Gryffindor or clever enough to be a Ravenclaw.
Dude gave himself an order of Merlin? Even I have to admit, that's low.
Also do a video on the warewolfs and how they were mistreated. I always wanted to know the full story on that.
Maxs
Good idea for a video or fanfic.
1} Origin of werewolves.
2) How Greyback was turned.
3) Why wizards hated werewolves.
4) The invention if Wolfsbane Potion.
5) Improvements to Wolfsbane Potion.
6) Cure?
Love it. Great job Dean.❤️
Cornelius Fudge reminds me of Neville Chamberlain
Chamberlain making peace with the Nazis mirrors that of Cornelius Fudge denying the return of the Dark Lord
Nipun Sharma
Fudge was intended to mirror Neville Chamberlain. JK said so
Carlos Wilson thank you for proving my point
He also reminds me of the norwegian primeminister Qwizling who corrupted and took norway and gave the country to Hilter, They kinda look alike too
Nice video
And be careful the Nargles
What if Regulus Black had escaped the cave and found a way to destroy the Locket Horcrux?
SeanB2
Very interesting idea. Regulus might have been able to destroy it with Fiendfyre if he apparated it to a rock sticking out of the ocean, set Fiendfyre and immediately Disapparated. Madam Pomphy our another Healer could treat his ingestion of the Drink of Despair on he my have been able to throw it up and/or use a bezor
I think he could have potentially become a spy for Dumbledore and Peter Pettigrew's double agent nature would have been revealed. Not sure how the timeline looks like here, but that's a high possibility.
In that case, the events of Harry Potter might not have happened, and we'd have got a Neville Longbottom series instead.
Voldemort knew that only the house elf of Regulus - Kreacher - knew about the locket and the location. He would have catched on who destroyed it and then that person would have felt the wrath of Voldemort. Also Regulus was already connected with Voldemort through the dark mark. Running away wouldn't have been a possibility.
Although if he felt that the locket was destroyed is another thing, but he probably would have checked on it at some point and if Regulus was a spy he would walk (or apparated) to his death if he is summoned.
Also Regulus thought that Voldemort would be mortal again after destroying it, indicating that he didn't know that Voldemort had 4 other horcruxes at this time.
Your videos are magically good!
Could you please do 'The Life of Antonin Dolohov', the most underrated Death Eater!?
Peter de Valck
Interesting idea. In some fanfics Dolohov has a squib brother, half brother or step brother such as the Hall of Elders Crossing series.
R.I.P Robert Hardy
He certainly brought to life our most hated minister of magic, didn't he?😢😊
History of goblins?
Nick Angelos that video will be more about what Griphook did in the 7th book rather than actual (fictional) history of Goblins.
I history of goblins would be an interesting video. Fanfics very on goblin society and how autonomous goblins are. In some there is only one Gringotts. In others there are numerous branches of Gringotts all over the world
The one thing that always bothered me about Crouch's crimes was that they could've used a Pensieve to view a large number of witness's memories of him under Veritaserum. Harry, Snape, Winky (if it works on house-elves), Dumbledore, McGonagall......
He has no more soul
@@hastalavista3814 No, not Crouch's memories, the memories of those whose witnessed his interrogation while he was under the effects of Veritaserum and confessed the entire plan to get to Harry.
Do a: What if Barty Crouch Jr was not a death eater
llDarkVloggerll
That would make an excellent fanfic or video. It seems to me Barty Crouch Junior had the talent to teach Defence against the Dark Arts.
Fudge not gonna be in charge if that happen
If that is the case then Barty Crouch Jr. would have shaped up Neville manning him up so when the time that they will face Voldemort, he would become a muscular and a brave hero that will make Crouch Jr. so very proud.

What would have happened if Barty Crouch Junior hadn't been given The Dementor's Kiss?
Barty Crouch Junior is arguably Voldemort's most valuable Death Eater with how clever he was and how expertly he carried out his assigned tasks while also overcoming the unexpected troubles that came about from Peter Pettigrew's negligence. With that in mind, Voldemort would certainly have made an attempt to rescue Barty Crouch Junior from Azkaban prison after the events of The Goblet of Fire so what would the Death Eater's survival have changed for both Voldemort as well as Harry?
Flaminstarwarsguy851
Very possibly the reason why Barty Crouch Jr. was kissed. Bellatrix I'm sure was more faithful but admit it she was also crazy. Barty would have been valuable for missions where precision was more important. Were I the Dark Lord both Barty and Bellatrix would have been in my toolbox. Both had their Uses. Lucius was very useful for swaying politicians. Had Voldemort taken care of these three he would have been tougher to bring down. Voldemort being crazy himself didn't take care of his own Death Eaters.
Exactly. In my opinion, those three (along with Dolohov and Grayback) are Voldemort's most useful Death Eaters.
Bellatrix for loyalty and dueling ability, Barty for stealth, Lucius for political manipulation, Grayback for intimidation and connections to werewolves, and Dolohov for dueling ability. They are easily his core five and would make him practically impossible to bring down had he kept them protected properly (maybe one Horcrux per Death Eater).
Flaminstarwarsguy851
You're idea is absolutely devious. It has the making of a good fanfic or movie. It's easy to get started on ffnet and fun to see where in the world your story gets read.
Flaminstarwarsguy851 In the film version, Dumbledore said about sending him back to Azkaban, but I don’t know if he followed through with that or if he WAS given the Dementor’s Kiss, becoz if he WAS sent to Azkaban, he would’ve showed up in the background of Deathly Hallows.
Funnily enough, I used to write fanfictions (though not for Harry Potter). Perhaps this will have to become a story of mine one day.
Fudge = asshole.
Good grief, you are REALLY GOOD AT THIS!!! I really enjoy these stories, and they actually make the books come alive. Thank you.
Question: Does the wizarding world have colleges or universities? If not why? Because if not that would mean that the entire ministry of magic is run people with no more than a high school education.
One big fanfic created a whole wizarding university in Philadelphia. It was the only one in the world. JK has said their were no wizarding universities or Colleges, Very intelligent wizards, I would imagine, go to Muggle Universities representing themselves as Muggles.
Carlos Wilson what is the name of that fanfic?
Mikaela Anderson
It is series of four fanfics about Harry's son James. They were created before the Fantastic Beasts Series. The most famous being James Potter and the Curse of the Gatekeeper which has four You Tube videos. The novel that tell about the wizarding university is James Potter and the Vault of Destinies. I enjoyed them a lot. There is also James Potter and the Hall of Elders Crossing. Each novel is available for download as a PDF file. These novels are about the size of Rollings' books. With the coming if Fantastic Beasts these novels were mostly forgotten, You might, however, enjoy them.
When Harry had his career guidance and talked about being an Auror, it was mentioned that after Hogwarts, he would need to have additional training at the ministry. It could also be argued that N.E.W.T.S are like going to University.
I came as soon as I got the notification!
Looks like he fudged up!
Adrian Ghandtchi
He certainly made a mess of it and I have a hunch Delores Umbridge helped him.
Underrated Comment
Fudge was definitely a Slytherin. We know this because he was always listening to Slytherin Alumni. He was shrewd, cunning, ambitious, and very close to the Malfoy family, even giving them a place in his private box during the Quidditch matches. Slytherins tend to stick with other Slytherins, and Fudge always seemed to be around Slytherins a lot.
Another brilliant video from my favourite Harry Potter themed youtuber
Slytherin would explain the green bowler hat.
Was waiting for this
He is not back
Omg thanks! I really wanted this!
Who else wanted Cornelius Fudge dead after Dolores Umbridge more than Voldemort?
Great vid
Oh no, us Slytherin do NOT want Fudge in our house!
Top six reasons Fudge was the worst Minister of Magic ever.
Number 6: He insisted the continuation of the Tri-Wizard Tournament despite the murder of Barty Crouch.
Number 5: He hired Umbridge
Number 4: He refused to clear Sirius Black.
Number 3: He hired Umbridge.
Number 2: His bullheaded refusal to admit that Voldemort was back, led to the death of Sirius Black and the Death Eater getting a foothold, allowing them to start the second Wizard War.
Number 1: *HE HIRED UMBRIDGE!!!*
Nice video, this stuff is really interesting
very good video! At Hogwarts, the students have nicknames written in their books. Can you do a video on why the students had nicknames written in their books instead of their real names? Thanks.
Did they? I don't think that was the case. Are you basing it on Harry's lie to Snape with Ron's potions book?
no. i remember it was either from the book or the movie. i know two were from the movie. one of them being when Slughorn had said "good to see you, wallenbe" or something along that line, referring to Ron. it could have been cause he was at the 3 broom sticks and had gotten drunk. and the other being when James was bullying Snape in his younger years and the crowd was shouting snievelous greasey. Snivelous might have been Snape's nickname. looks at Snape's name Severus.
1) Slughorn always butchered Ron's name because he find Ron valuable
2) Snivelous was the Marauder's nickname for Snape, that's a fact. But it's not a public nickname you sign your book with.
Fantastic Beasts shows us the book being signed by Harry's real name.
The nicknames are mentioned in the books. So go read them
probably where i remembered it from. there are some things i remember from the books and the movies.
Will you do a video for Scrimgeour? The man who had to try and fix this clowns mess.
Absolutely one of your best videos!
Cornelius Fudge reminds me a lot of Neville Chamberlain:
An ok politician in peacetime, but not a war leader.
Denied the growing evil by simply ignoring it, and not taking action until it was far too late.
I wonder what happened to Buckbeak after Sirius was killed
Ron 2cool He went back to live with Hagrid under a different name
Kenitra Harmon oh cool

Do a video on what Harry's life would have been like if someone from the wizarding world had visited Harry regularly.
That new intro though

You got to admit if The Dark Lord wants you out of office along with the whole wizard community. You got an achievement of being the unwanted Minister

Good job.. I learned a lot from this video.. thank you!!
he gives a whole new meaning to the term fudge factor.
I wonder. When Fudge wouldn't believe Dumbledore that Voldemort had returned, couldn't Dumbledore have used Harry's memory and shown it to Fudge inside the pensieve. Then again, I guess Fudge still wouldn't have believed the evidence because he already believed that Harry was mentally unstable, thanks to Rita Skeeter's article.
My screen and audio froze so there was a really long pause between, “was sorted into” and “Slytherin.” There’s actually a lot of random pauses.

Sound like you have either a bad feed or your device has too much running in the background. If you are on Android got to the Play Store and turn Auto Update off, Go to Setting -> Accounts Google and Sync everything. If this still doesn't work reboot your device. Often syncing or updating in the background will make your device hang or drag.
Carlos Wilson cool, thanks!
Love your vids and keep up the good work!
In my opinion Gilderoy Lockhart is the perfect man for Ministry of Magic.
Very good
I am convinced Cornelius Fudge lives in the apartment above mine. I know it’s him without a doubt. Sometimes when I catch him walking to or from his apartment I will corner and confront him trying to get him to unveil his true identity. He says things like, “I am a 68 year old Black man from Ethiopia I don’t know who this Fudge man is but please leave me alone.” He’s a sneaky one for sure, but I would expect nothing less from a wizard. I will catch him one day mark my words.
great video yet again!
Am I the only one who hear Forge instead of Fudge...?
Fudge stepped down on the day I was born!!

Fudge should have fallen into the veil instead of Sirius due to his incompetence with dealing with the return of Voldemort
Pleas do a video on the dementors where are they from how where they made? What did the community think of them?

In some ways, Fudge's behaviour was similar to Richard Nixon. A skilled politician who let paranoia over perceived "threats" to his own power overcome better judgement (Watergate scandal in Nixon's case, the cover-up over Voldemort returning to his own body for Fudge)
