She wasn't ashamed of him for being poor, she was ashamed of him for his lack of ambition and not wanting to go further up in the ministry (he was basically a janitor there).
Lol Percy actually wrote to Ron congratulating him on getting Prefect, advising him (& highly encouraging him) if he needed any help cutting ties with Potter to seek help from Umbridge as she would be more then happy to assist him & advise him, as she’s “really a delightful women”. So Percy was very “familiar” with her & was fond of her at one point.

Were I Harry Potter once the Second Wizarding War was over I would have seen to it that Dolores Umbridge received the Dementor's Kiss.
Umbridge truly is the most evil character in all of the books to me, and I think that was intended. Voldemort may be evil, but at least with him you know exactly what you get. And honestly, his beliefs didn’t come from nowhere, and there’s a reason many of his followers have those beliefs as well. Heck, even Dumbledore held many of those same beliefs in his early days. Tom Riddle clearly did not have a happy childhood at the orphanage where he was likely bullied for being different. Although his father’s DNA helped give some variety, there are also hints that due to frequent intermarriage to keep the bloodline pure, there are hints that Tom inherited a bit of madness from his mother’s side. Draco Malfoy may have been evil at times, but he was also young, and when he was faced with stepping over the line to true evil where someone could be killed he always did the right thing even if it put him at risk. Dudley was a bit evil, but that was poor parenting, and at the very end the love and kindness and gratitude he shows Harry is truly touching. Petunia came off as being quite evil, which apparently was driven a lot by jealousy towards her sister, but even if she took her jealousy out on Harry in pretty evil ways, she still took him in and insisted he stay in Book 5, even though she knew Voldemort had it out for Harry, and that even with the protections in place they weren’t foolproof, as the Dementor attack on Dudley had proven. Snape, James, Sirius, Lupin, and Pettigrew all have moments of being cruel, but they also all have backstories that make their cruelty more understandable and moments of goodness that partially or even fully make up for the bad. Vernon is clearly very selfish, and he is also cruel to Harry. But in his defense, first, he did do consent to taking Harry in, even if he didn’t treat him right, and second, beyond gossiping and perhaps enjoying when he got ahead of other people financially or in reputation and enjoying when others had setbacks financially or by reputation, Vernon never really went out of his way to hurt anyone but Harry, and even with Harry he seemed to buy into his own explanation of he was torturing Harry for Harry’s own good because he was going to shame Harry’s weirdness out of him and make him a normal, contributing member of society. Sure, he also hurt Dudley by overindulging him, but that was clearly not conscious intent.
I could go on, but the point is that while the book lists many truly evil characters and truly indefensible acts - both one-off and patterns of abuse - all other characters either had understandable reasons that contributed to how they turned out or made sacrifices or dangerous decisions that at least partly redeem them or were at least only took their evilness as far as it supported their own self-interest or were at least more straightforward with who they were and why they did what they did and what side they were on. Umbridge doesn’t get any of these mitigating factors. Her evil was truly insidious. It’s pretty clear that her desire to do evil goes way beyond just self-interest. She clearly is a sadist who enjoys hurting people for the sake of hurting them and of pushing her power over them as far as she can. She pretends to be completely harmless and law-abiding and sweet, and uses the law and her position to get the community to do a lot of her dirty work for her. Sure, the punishments with quills that write in your own blood are particularly nasty, and an adult with government powers being allowed to punish minors under her care is quite frightening, but Umbridge’s clearest greatest desire and skill is in gaslighting. She doesn’t just want to hurt people for the sake of hurting them. She wants to prove she can get them to say and do and believe anything she wants them to say and do and believe. And if she changes what she wants, she expects her victims to automatically follow her lead and change what they do and say and believe. Voldemort may enjoy physically dominating someone, but that’s not even close to enough for Umbridge. If she hasn’t managed to completely break your spirit and free will and ability to perceive objective reality all while technically leaving your free will magically intact she is not satisfied. Personally, I would rather face a Voldemort and die for a cause I believe in that face a successful Umbridge and live with my sanity, free will, and ability to perceive objective reality completely destroyed.
She felt inferior because she was half blood, and then inferior because she was a mediocre student with a mediocre dad. After reading your essay I’m gonna have to say you excused Umbridge somewhere in your first half. Also, she wore a literal hocrux around her neck for most of her “prime” at the ministry?
@@nkulisa639 Um, no, I didn’t excuse Umbridge anywhere. I said I believed she was the most evil character in the book and then basically explained what made her more evil than several other characters including Voldemort.
And I thought that Umbridge was bad in the books because she only inflicted her punishment method on Harry and Lee as well as getting Fred, George, and Harry a lifetime ban from playing Quidditch.
The ban was revoked after Umbridge was fired from Hogwarts.
Dolores is more we found in society as hypocrites. Instead of helping others, she make it worse. I guess she is more like a power hunger too.

If you think about it Umbridge was worse than all the other pureblood supremacists. As bad as they were they only hated non pureblood witches and wizards. She hated anyone and anything she didn't consider fully human.

It's a just as good question as "why do people get divorced?" most of the time because people get blinded by what they think is love but real love loves with eyes wide open. Most likely he felt a sort of sympathy combined with lust for the muggle woman which caused him to confuse it with love but when these symptoms he confused with love wore of and he started to see her for who she really was he didn't like what he saw. Not her fault. He just confused sympathy and lust with love. Because if it had been real they had stayed together. It's the same question as why people marry if they get divorced anyway. No true love.

So satisfying to know that Umbridge will never get out of Azkaban. I wouldn't go as far as to say she should have been subjected to the Dementor's Kiss, only Voldemort would deserve such a fate, but she does deserve a life behind bars. Also, while on the subject of Dementors, it's probably a safe assumption that imagining Umbridge sacked created one of Harry's best Patronuses.

I believe that the character Dolores Umbridge should be hated but the artist should be appreciated. Also, I think that prof. McGonnacle could have helped Harry and his team from the initial stages but she always stuck to Hogwarts and did not appreciate Harry much and that is why I consider prof. McGonnacle as a neutral character.
Golden Hades, there is only a slight difference between the two-after the Harry Potter series ended and the whole story revealed, people just had lots of love and respect for prof. McGonnacle because she always stood at the right side, the truth side and gave supreme dedication to her duty, also she gives equal love and attention to the senior students of Hogwarts (Harry's batch). On the other side Umbridge stood for an evil cause and always wanted to satisfy her ego.
Jayshree Bhatt she bought harry the best broom his first year and got him on the quidditch team which for a first year is un heard of. She protested Dumbledores decision to leave him with the dursleys. She also watched out for harry while he was with the dursleys and even stepped up and stood by him when he confronted Voldemort in the finale book. Mcgonagall cared for harry very much but also didn't give him special treatment over other students except for the nimbus 2000 and getting him on the team.
I Never bothered to find out what happened to Umbridge post-Voldemort’s regime. She should’ve received the Kiss if I ask me! (But then again, she probably never had a soul to begin with)

Remember that they did betray the ministry and Kingsley had them removed from Azkaban the fun part is she's paying for every evil thing she's done especially as remember she wasn't part of the Death Eaters she defected when it was to her advantage and as pointed out she basically cost the life of who knows how many muggle-borns who died in the prison or would likely kissed themselves and because Wizards tend to live for very long time and her wand most likely snapped and the fact we know she's an opportunist she's never getting out of there and well she's going to go insane eventually because the Dementors made you insane yeah eventually but at least you had something to deal with all the other s*** while there but now that they're gone well I doubt things are going to be grand for her especially when she sharing it would many other criminals and Death Eaters who are likely going to find out about her little status this is the situation she won't be able to warm herself out of like with the centaurs in the s*** she pulled in book 5 and knowing her she's likely still cursing Harry and companies names even up to as much as I hate to acknowledge it " The Cursed Child's" time frame because I hope she didn't get the magic equivalent of shanked or hanged herself which I doubt because of her cowardly it's all about me nature she'd be definitely afraid of death even though she didn't hesitate to do so to others I say her fate is well deserved the kiss would have just been the easy way out for her.

Jo confirmed that Umbridge was thrown into Azkaban after the series ended. The Dementors were booted _out_ of Azkaban beforehand, but then, making one of them kiss Umbridge would be far too cruel to the Dementor.

Voldemort was incapable of love from birth due to the love potion used by his mother so his story is actually a tragedy and a lot of the Death Eaters had psychotic dispositions due to their families inbreeding. However I can't think of a word to describe the cruelty of Umbridge, she has no excuse and the fact that she can actually produce a patronus shows that she was too cowardly to immerse herself properly into the dark arts as most dark wizards are consumed by maggots when they attempt to produce one, no matter on their skill level.

Ayan Hassan Yeah it's on Pottermore, that's why no Death Eater (other than Snape) ever casts one because a patronus is an embodiment of good and the spell sort of backfires when a dark wizard casts it.

We never elected her as Head Girl or Prefect mainly because we seen that she was not fit for the role. She was a disgrace to Halfbloods everywhere , including myself. I was not ashamed that I was Halfblood, and of course she did not like this. I fully disagreed with her notion against halfbreeds, including Were-wolfs, Mermaids, and Centaurs. I always stood next to Harry when she would offend him and I always stepped in when she pushed too much. Politics have no room in a classroom if they are to be taught properly. She was never a proper teacher and could have never hold the competence to teach. I simply wasnt going to take anything that she had said as truth and she annoyed me to my breaking point when she invertedly distrupted my class, on purpose without actually letting me teach.

Snape was also a student when she was at school, which means she was born after Slughorn started teaching, meaning Dolores has too be born at least 7 years before him, which means somewhere between 1955 - 1967, since Snape is born in 1960
In this vid and there is no way Umbridge is older than Voldemort. who is born in 1926 or McGonagall, who was born in 1935. Umbridge is around the age of Lucius Malfoy, who is born in either 1953/1954, which makes 1957/1958 the likeliest birthyear for Umbridge, which makes her around fourthy years old at the time of the battle of Hogwarts.

Today I am rating the Hogwarts professors. A good teacher has good subject knowledge, kind but strict to students, has a good relationship with the students, makes the subjects interesting, every one understands the essence of the subjects. Based on the qualities, merits, teaching style , actions and some special incidents in their tenure I am marking them out of 10.

What?! Umbridge was in Slytherin during her days at Hogwarts? I would figure she would be in Hufflepuff because of her diligence and being doggedly loyal to her beliefs, making her a rare instance of a Hufflepuff that became an evil witch/wizard. Even still, she was one of the scariest villains I encountered in reading as a child: villains that could be found in the real world, magical abilities not withstanding.
AnaxErik4ever the thing about the scariest villains is that their power was webbed in front the start. These villains had power literally in the palm in their hand. With one word they could start to destroy you if not for others. They are the scariest ones cause it’s power you cannot even begin to fight against without also having some inside knowledge.
She isn’t sad. She is just awful as a person. And scary in how such am awful person can ruin your life like that.
