People must be stupid to think that Harry is a Pure-blood. It was more than once mentioned what blood status he is in the books. Heck, that's also one of the reasons why Voldemort chose him instead of Neville.
For real. For an individual to be pure-blood, the witch or wizard should at least have no Muggle or Muggle-born parents or grandparents. Therefore, the child (Harry) of James and Lily is a half-blood because his mother is muggleborn and the grandparents muggles. Rowling explained it in her own words in the past. It was also mentioned by Riddle in the second book that Harry is a half-blood just like him and later by Dumbledore. “But he might have chosen wrong!” said Harry. “He might have marked the wrong person!” “He chose the boy he thought most likely to be a danger to him,” said Dumbledore. “And notice this, Harry.* He chose, not the pureblood (which, according to his creed, is the only kind of wizard worth being or knowing), but the half-blood, like himself.* He saw himself in you before he had ever seen you.” - *Order of the Phoenix, chapter 37 (The Lost Prophecy)* J.K. answer: _Why are some people in the wizarding world (e.g., Harry) called 'half-blood' even though both their parents were magical?_ The expressions 'pure-blood', 'half-blood' and 'Muggle-born' have been coined by people to whom these distinctions matter, and express their originators' prejudices. As far as somebody like Lucius Malfoy is concerned, for instance, a Muggle-born is as 'bad' as a Muggle. Therefore Harry would be considered only 'half' wizard, because of his mother's grandparents. If you think this is far-fetched, look at some of the real charts the Nazis used to show what constituted 'Aryan' or 'Jewish' blood. I saw one in the Holocaust Museum in Washington when I had already devised the 'pure-blood', 'half-blood' and 'Muggle-born' definitions, *and was chilled to see that the Nazis used precisely the same warped logic as the Death Eaters. A single Jewish grandparent 'polluted' the blood, according to their propaganda.* How is Harry a pure-blood for some? If they don't know about the generations rule, then at least read the books right.

Even without applying the 3 Generations rule, there still shouldn't be any question of Harry's blood status, as it is frequently stated that he is indeed a Half Blood wizard.
Yeah, but some people just get picky over details like percentages or special circumstances that could mean there must have really been more than 3 classifications technically, though the books only used the 3.
@NoTheOtherJonathan I know that. I was talking about other people who keep arguing there are other percentages despite the fact that the books only use the terms muggle, squib, muggleborn, half blood & pure blood for saying what someone's status was. So there are only 3 classifications for wizards since squibs have no power & are basically treated the same as muggles.

I like how the Potter family Crest is made. Combining a wand, Godrick Gryffindor's sword, and the symbol of the Deathly Hallows. Nice touch. And well fitting.
Yeah I think so too, I've read an article about it. The Malfoy family were actually living and mingled with the muggles in the muggle world, married muggles but then I THINK! A Malfoy got into trouble which later had left him and his family with only 2 choices; 1) if they continued to stay in the Muggle world most of their muggle properties/assets would be taken and they'll loose their connections. 2) Leave if they don't want that to happen. So basically by looking at how the Malfoy's use their Wealth and connections to get to their positions instead of working they'll not choose the 1st choice as many of their family's assets will be taken in exchange and they'll loose their connections. So they went with the 2nd choice that is leaving the Muggle world and going back to the wizarding world. They stopped associating themselves with the muggles and later started disliking muggle-born witch and wizards/ones who did not have pure blood, after leaving the muggle world they didn't marry any muggles to maintain their image as the Pure blood (altho they're not)family like the Blacks. They started building connections with Wizarding families of the upper class/Pure blood. After leaving the Muggle world they built a manor. The place where Draco's Father's wand was taken and destroyed by Voldemort or the one where Dobby came to rescue Harry And his friends from The death waters but got himself killed(Dobby).

Notifications on ..but I was already looking for this video when I found it since u announced it earlier today. So, no notification as far as I know. It had been released for 5 minutes when I got to it.
Well the muggles wouldn't know the child's magical heritage, so he would be assumed to be a muggleborn from the law's perspective. But it's not likely for that to happen since the wizards tend to keep up with each other, & so they would probably have wizard family members or friends as godparents, who would then produce papers to any muggles or muggle society who had taken temporary custody after the parents died. Harry was deliberately hidden with muggle family that knew of wizard existence & knew his status. Voldemort ended up in an orphanage because his wizard grandfather didn't want him since he was a half-blood & didn't bother to track him down after his daughter died. Their family wasn't liked so nobody else had been named godparent by the mom before she killed herself*. They were rare cases. *When I said killed herself, I didn't mean direct suicide, I meant dying due to lack of even caring for herself physically due to her depression, which lead to weakness, illness & her death. She felt she couldn't (or maybe due to pride wouldn't) look for a way to earn money in the muggle world to support herself once her husband left her. She didn't have wizard connections other than her own family, & since she defied their pureblood beliefs by marrying & breeding with a muggle, she couldn't go back to them. In the story it sounds like they were also so disliked they didn't have friends that she could go to. Her own magic skills seemed to be not nearly good enough for a wizard job of some sort, but I always thought surely there was some sort of help she could get from the Ministry if she overcame her pride & asked. It's common sense that they would have some system similar to welfare to help wizards in emergencies, because they wouldn't want wizards to be starving to death or homeless.
This comment actually made me think about the magical tracker put on younger wizards. Voldemort was using magic to torture the kids at the orphanage. Does this mean he didn't have the tracker on him? Do parents have to register their child to get one?
I don't remember much description in the books on how the trackers work. Apparently nobody in the department that covered up accidental magic knew Voldemort was using his powers in the orphanage & intervened, so it must not be automatic at birth. However Dumbledore tracked him to the orphanage when it was almost time for him to go to school, so there must be some kind of magic tracker they use regularly to search for unregistered wizard kids like muggleborns who need to be signed up for a magic school. I guess once a child's magic is developed enough to regularly show itself then they can be found that way. Still, once found the individual trackers must be put on them somehow, because they seem to know right away when one particular kid uses their power in a public place or outside of school, like when Harry made his uncle's sister float away. There's no description that I recall of who does it or how it works, other than it automatically stops when they turn 17.
@@tamarasmith9060 the magical book and quill ( see Pottermore I can't remember the names right now) write down witch/ wizards name as soon as they exhibit magical ability. My husband actually just pointed out to me that they might not even get the trace put on them until they are 11 and receive a wand. It's still weird though. Since Fred n George had to be using some magic over summer break to make their inventions, I wonder if it only alerts the ministry if its in the presence of muggles...
This was a very helpful video. Thank you. But one question: Black is also a common name in the Muggle world, yet that didn't seem to be a problem with that family. Or was it?

This has actually been sitting on my mind for quite some time now: What about Squibs? What status do their children result with other blood statuses? I feel like they'd fill the same like a Muggle/Muggle-born would do with the others, given the fact that Muggle-borns actually generate from Squibs.
I listen to you at night before sleep. The logo part with the wands and lightning is really loud comared to the rest. It surprises me every time hahaha
😂 Yes, that's because of the modern genetics theory vs the old law of establishing status by number of magical generations. If the stories carried on into a few more generations, there may be a change in the status laws based on modern scientific study. Of course, that's assuming the "pureblood" families can't gather enough political backing to overcome the majority of wizards in the vote.
I feel fairly certain that Charlus Potter and Dorea Black were James' original parents. Just find it odd that they all would die around the same time (lasting long enough to see James and Lily's wedding but not long enough to meet Harry). Seems like a retcon.
So that means he had all three of the deathly hallows with the clouck of invizablity and the resurrection stone hidden in the golden snich and lastly the elder wand
Great video! Also, even Squib + Muggle is considered half-blood as well (an example being Molly's distant cousin Mafalda) according to the Harry Potter Wiki, but I was surprised to learn that, and I'm more curious about whether Muggle-born + Muggle would be Half-blood or Muggle-born.
IMO I’m pretty sure most pure bloods have a half-blood/muggleborn in their line somewhere. Like Hermione said half of them are pretending to be pure blood when they’re half blood. Still though doesn’t change the fact that Harry, Snape and Voldemort were all half-blood wizards and quite extraordinary. So the idea that you have to be pure blood to be great isn’t the case.
Great synopsis but I believe you’re last observation, the one about Albus Severus’s grandchildren repairing the line, is mistaken. James, Lily, Arthur, Molly, Harry, Ginny, Albus Severus, and Ms. Purblood would satisfy the 3 gen rule. Therefore, it would be Harry’s grandchild that would repair the line, not Albus’s grandchild.
It's not the blood itself, but where it came from SOCIALLY. So if both parents were both magical and raided in the wizarding world (and kept that streak), that person is a pureblood. If you had one parent who was born and raised in the magical community, you are a half-blood. If one or both of your parents had squib ancestors (born in the magical community but has no magical potential), then you are a Muggle-born (or crudely known as "mudblood").
When there is a squib in your family you are a a half-blood. Unless if the squib is getting with a muggle then I guess it's a muggle born but I am not sure at all. I think with squibs it is still half blood.
@@circejanuary If a Squib is born to 2 Pure Blood Wizards, the Squib is pureblood, his children are half if he marries a muggle or half blood. If a halfblood Squib is born from 1 magical parent, its half blood and so will his children.
The only reason Harry is a 1/2 blood wizard is because Lily was muggleborn but if James would have married a pure blood witch then Harry would have been a peer blood wizard.
I never understood the blood lines and how it worked but I finally get it I always wounder what a half blood and a muggle borns child would be thxs for making it straight forward
Wait, the Potter family didn't make the Sacred Twenty-Eight because they had a common muggle name? Uh, you know what else is a common name? Black. So is Avery, Abbott, Burke, Macmillan, and Parkinson.
So the Potter line would still have Muggle blood in them because of Lily even after 3 generation of full purebloods. So are Muggles and Wizards two different specie of the Human genotype then? Otherwise there are no true purebloods.
I wonder if Slughorn tried to induct James into his club because of what a successful, rich businessman and entrepreneur his father was. I wonder if Snape knew James' father was the founder of Sleakeazy's. I wonder why nobody, not even Slughorn, told Harry about that. Harry's mother and grandfather, and even earliest ancestor were excellent potioners, so I'm disappointed Harry was so poor at it. Would've been nice to rub it in Snape's face.
As far as future blood relatives go, its a question of which child would get married to another and who? I, now, and probably many others, could very well assume that Rose Weasley(daughter of Hermione(muggle-born) and Ron Weasley(Pure-Blood) and Half-blood herself) marries Scorpio Malfoy(son of a pure-blood and another pure-blood) would have a half-blood child. Another couple, anyone can see as together is Victorie Weasley(daughter of Pure-blood Bill and part veela Fleur) and Teddy Lupin(half-blood), the child would be, from what i gather, is a witch/wizard with a quarter of veela blood and lycan but also Metamorphmagus. I also think Abraham Potter went to Ilvermorny and probably a Thunderbird.
Who cares about who is pureblood and Half Blood ,we're all still Wizards aren't we ?It doesn't matter. I think that people should be allowed to marry whoever they want to, muggle-born, muggle, Half-Blood, pure-blood ,whoever they want to marry.

Rowling decided to rename Charlus Fleamont and to rename Dorea Euphemia. Euphemia was was a Black and was in Slytherin.

I like how the Potter family Crest is made. Combining a wand, Godrick Gryffindor's sword, and the symbol of the Deathly Hallows. Nice touch. And well fitting.
I think the Malfoy's married with half-bloods, so really it could be said they have tainted blood too
He married a pure blooded witch
@@Santa-ramos-is-real I mean his family, not him
Yeah I think so too, I've read an article about it. The Malfoy family were actually living and mingled with the muggles in the muggle world, married muggles but then I THINK! A Malfoy got into trouble which later had left him and his family with only 2 choices;
1) if they continued to stay in the Muggle world most of their muggle properties/assets would be taken and they'll loose their connections.
@@thejak4284 I think there was a story about lucius malfoy the first cursing queen elizabeth to remain single forever .
Draco married Astoria Greengrass, the Greengrasses were pure-bloods.

Notifications on ..but I was already looking for this video when I found it since u announced it earlier today. So, no notification as far as I know. Great work as always Dean, you keep the wizarding world alive with your content, keep up the good work buddy
Thanks! Now I finally know about Harry’s grandparents! Fleamont and Euphenia!
I'd like to see j.k do a book about harry grandparents via james side of family?

What if a pureblood was orphaned and adopted by muggles? Would the child be considered pure or muggleborn?
Still a Pure Blood. Though that may not be the perception of the rest of the wizarding world
Well the muggles wouldn't know the child's magical heritage, so he would be assumed to be a muggleborn from the law's perspective.
Or was it?
Multiple families can have the same name joanne
Thankyou , the bloodline description was very interesting. Especially the repair/tainted blood explanation.
I've been a fan of the Harry Potter series since I was six and I'm still fascinated by the series.
Gr8 job this really cleared things up for me because me being a Huge Fan of Harry Potter I needed some more clarity about the Potter Bloodline
The introduction was long but I like it please don't leave youtube or delete these harry potter music and videos I really love your channel alot I've subscribed your channel
Love the new intro. Another brilliant video
These bloodlines are confusing to me
But it doesn't matter
Ultra instinct Shaggy I like you
Ultra instinct Shaggy You entitled Pure-blood.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Finally someone defines what makes a pure blood, half blood and muggle born. Its so annoying having this argument with my friends
Really gives you a full appreciation for just how much Bellatrix loves Voldemort then. Because she was so proud and so prejudiced against Muggles that she would never have wanted to tanked her pureblood strain except that she loved Voldemort so much she was willing to overlook the fact that he was half blood and have a daughter with him thus having a Half-Blood daughter and ending her pure bloodline
TCC in my eyes, is not in any way cannon
@@BeckyEnchanted you dont get to decide what's Canon. Idk why hp fans think they can
@@theparrot6516 Because jk barely had anything to do with it and it doesn't follow stated rules within that world that have already been established nor do they get the characterization of most of them correct. She just wanted a paycheck and it's very disappointing that she would do it at the expense of a wonderful story
Great new intro Dean!!!👍👏👏👏
This has actually been sitting on my mind for quite some time now: What about Squibs? What status do their children result with other blood statuses? I feel like they'd fill the same like a Muggle/Muggle-born would do with the others, given the fact that Muggle-borns actually generate from Squibs.
I listen to you at night before sleep. The logo part with the wands and lightning is really loud comared to the rest. It surprises me every time hahaha

Absolutely love this video! Great to know the potter ancestry and thank you for explaining blood lines
Hagrid: "And it's codswallop, to boot. 'Dirty blood.' Why, there isn’t a wizard alive today that’s not half-blood or less."
I love your videos and I thank you for mentoring Kevin and Luna. I was missing Luna and thanks to you I found Kevin.

I feel fairly certain that Charlus Potter and Dorea Black were James' original parents. Just find it odd that they all would die around the same time (lasting long enough to see James and Lily's wedding but not long enough to meet Harry). Seems like a retcon.
WOW!! My head hurts! Great video and even better breaking it all down! ❤️❤️❤️
So that means he had all three of the deathly hallows with the clouck of invizablity and the resurrection stone hidden in the golden snich and lastly the elder wand
Well done great job good work mate 👍👍
Great video! Also, even Squib + Muggle is considered half-blood as well (an example being Molly's distant cousin Mafalda) according to the Harry Potter Wiki, but I was surprised to learn that, and I'm more curious about whether Muggle-born + Muggle would be Half-blood or Muggle-born.
It will be half blood, since their is at least one magical parent.

I still don’t get what House potter is is it
Lesser house
Noble house
Ancient House
Ancient and noble house
Most Ancient And Noble House
Sloppy Dickens it’s just a house. The potter family will never be an Ancient or Noble house. Just a regular.
It's just a family or house. Someone read too many fanfiction. lol
That varies but I like to think of them as replacing the House of Peverell when it died out making the house an Ancient and Noble House.
Aren’t those just titles that families gave themselves?
@@issacflores2010 maybe it's be known as Noble simply because of Harry
Hats of to you man!
I mean .. I can see you have worked really hard for this video!
Yeah but i think it is not muggle born if it is made by 2 squibs. Like squib - parent(s) where wizard

Thanks Hannah! Really loving your content too!
Harry Potter Folklore thanks so much, that means a lot! My views are a bit down at the moment but just to keep working on my content 😊
I didn’t even know there was a debate about Harry’s blood status because they say it soooo much in the books🤷🏽♀️
Good video Dean I love the Details you put in videos
Wait, the Potter family didn't make the Sacred Twenty-Eight because they had a common muggle name? Uh, you know what else is a common name? Black. So is Avery, Abbott, Burke, Macmillan, and Parkinson.

Thank you for clearing this! This video was really interessting!
So the Potter line would still have Muggle blood in them because of Lily even after 3 generation of full purebloods. So are Muggles and Wizards two different specie of the Human genotype then? Otherwise there are no true purebloods.
I was waiting for this for a long time thxs so much 🙂
It's not 3 generations to be pureblood, but 5. Just like Ernie MacMillans said in Chamber of Secrets.

Anyone notice in the Golden trio, it consisted of each blood status?
Hermione-Muggle-born
Harry-half-blood
Ron- pureblood
So you’re telling me Harry used his own ancestors invention in Chamber of Secrets???

So if Harry's descendants also marry and have children with magical folk, they are still purebloods so long as its 3+ generations in the future?
Yeah
9:24 Damn why's Harry looking rusty
it's always rusty lol
Awesome video once again man thanks for this one awesome!!
Who cares about who is pureblood and Half Blood ,we're all still Wizards aren't we ?It doesn't matter. I think that people should be allowed to marry whoever they want to, muggle-born, muggle, Half-Blood, pure-blood ,whoever they want to marry.
