Instead we got the Microwave... I'll take the Microwave over the Air Fryer for helping Humanity though, I use the Microwave EVERY day, the Air Fryer... once a month at best... for Frozen Onion Rings or Tater Tots. The Air Fryer was/is a "Christmas Gift idea". My "Air Fryer" is also a Slow Cooker, Sous Vide, Pressure Cooker, Rice maker and a Yogurt maker. I use the Pressure Cooker or Sous Vide twice a Month or so.
I’ve been tempted to have a go at roast potatoes in my air fryer. After your step by step video and all three granddaughter’s half term next week will definitely have a go. Thank you.

I've made chips in my air fryer, just coating the potato chips with oil in a bowl before putting them in, they turned out lovely. I'm going to try the roasties later today
This is so exciting! Our oldest son gave us a beautiful three rack air frier for Christmas and I have no idea what to cook in it really. We heated up some fried zucchini and onion rings we had stored in the freezer one time. And I feel bad I haven't figured it out yet. Leave it to my favorite chef to think of doing this. Thank you John! Have a wonderful day ❤

Hi John, another fab recipe! I have a few air fryers and I recommend to people who are looking for one to buy one that has a square basket. They are more versatile and because of the shape can hold a little more.
Hi John from Bill Ontario Canada I have been using my air fryer for about 5 years now and have cooked chicken ribs and vegetables fish onion rings roast beef and I will keep your channel in my save folder. Thank John and all UA-cam cooks.😊❤❤
If you're inventing air fryer recipes, the thing I've found to be absolutely perfect in an air fryer is a grilled cheese sandwich. I had to burn one to discover the right timing, but once I got the time right, they always come out perfect. I can't seem to cook one on the stove top at all without messing something up.
We do all our cheese toasties in the air fryer too Tom, they come out so much crisper. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
@@tomhorsley6566 Sounds good Tom. Do you mean a single slice of bread with cheese on top or a sandwich (2 slices of bread with cheese in the middle?) and is white bread best or can you use brown?
What I appreciate most is that you, being the first cook I found on yt, mentioned the importance of using not just any potatoes, but the good ones. That way just potatoes and salt can be a complete tasty meal. Thumbs up!
Nice presentation, John. I am not picky and use just about any old potato cut into slightly smaller pieces. As I have not cultured my tastes, I even leave the peels on and cook them a little longer (my mom and grandmother burned almost everything a littly bit so I do too). Love 'em.
Yes, there are a lot of us oldies out there. I'm 73 and my spouse is 76. He loves potatoes and the air fryer is a marvelous new way to make him as many potatoes as he can consume. I'll be trying your recipe for sure!
Fantastic! I'm pleased you will give them a try my friend and I hope they turn out well. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channel's webpage. profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
One week of using an air fryer and I’m addicted! So easy to use and to clean. No more bending to get heavy trays out of the oven🥳. I mainly use a little pair of tongs - no more large utensils sticking out of sink drainer. Kitchen looks tidier for longer now! I have a Salter dual fryer with windows and I love it🥰! Today I experimented with a cheese toastie - fantastic at first try(😋), my weight will now bloom! Thick slice of white bread into each drawer at 180 for 1 minute, turn over and another 180 for 1 minute. Butter one side of each slice, grate cheese onto one slice then put the other on top - just as you’d make a cheese butty. Then carefully place this ‘sandwich’ into a drawer and again 180 for 1 minute, turn over and repeat. SIMPLE and gorgeous😋😋😋.
WHY did I never think of this? I use my air fryer for almost everything! But I figured my roasted potatoes would just have to wait for cooler weather again, since my kitchen heats up awful, even with the A/C when the oven is turned on. Gotta try this! Thank you, John!

I have the same Ninja air fryer; my daughter invited my wife and me for tea. She cooked the roast potatoes the same way you did John. She cooked them in her Ninja air fryer, and we bought one like hers. I do most of my meat in the air fryer. I sear the meat first in a frypan until the Myanmar effect kicks in and then into the air fryer until they're done to my satisfaction. I add flour to a bowl with the potatoes and shake them. Extra crispy result.
We’re not all in the uk. Usually the choice is red or white potatoes, small or large! Many don’t appreciate a great potato - just something to fill the plate. We’re having salmon steaks tonight. Will make these roasties to go with them. Thank you.
I made this tonight, followed your instructions exactly and WOW! My family couldn’t eat them fast enough. I thought I knew how to make air fryer roast potatoes but I was wrong. These are absolutely top notch.

I'm cooking a roast dinner tomorrow night and was wondering how to do the potatoes in my air fryer then up pops John with a new video and he's got the exact same air fryer I do so will now be able to cook them with confidence. Only thing left to do is find the best potatoes to use that are available in Australia.
Dunno if this helps. To get a crispy outside and creamy middle you'll need a floury potato. In Australia, the best varieties are Dutch Cream, Desiree, Coliban or Sebago. @@jamesvoigt7275 Potato Bread uses the starchy water from Boiling Potatoes 😉. Mexicans boil and mash potatoes with seasonings and put them in a Corn Tortilla and deep fry them and it's called Tacos Dorado, in Eastern Europe they mash the potatoes with seasonings and cheese and wrap that in pasta that looks like a half moon Ravioli and they call them Perogies. Indeed, Potatoes are a fixture of Human life, at least in the Northern Hemisphere.
In Peru they make a mashed potato salad. Instead of making the mashed potatoes with milk and butter, they use oil and vinegar. They garnish it with salad vegetables, hard boiled eggs, olives, and such.

They are a nice thing to have. I passed on getting one for the longest time because a lot of people seemed disappointed, I think they saw the infomercials and had unrealistic expectations for speed or amount you can put in them. I finally bought 1 about a year ago and it is a great tool for the kitchen as long as you have realistic expectations of it and I often use it as a second smaller oven if I need to cook at different temperatures at the same time.

Interesting discussion re ‘roast’ potatoes. My mum used to parboil spuds in a saucepan, roast them in huge quantities of meat dripping with boiling water half way up the potatoes for a couple of hours. I parboil them in the microwave, sprinkle with semolina and brown them in duck or goose fat, then roast for about 80 mins - I suppose recipes evolve over time. I’m definitely going to try the air fryer method, time saved is time I can spend watching UA-cam😁

I became a subscriber a few weeks ago, and really appreciate your do-it-yourself UK food videos (I have been living for the past 40 years in France and now Germany). Thankyou so much. But I have a special comment/request that may possibly concern your future air frier recipes, but which above all concerns your pork/beef/ chicken/etc pies. You comment that they are delicious with brown sauce : I assume you mean Daddies, HP standard, HP fruity, etc. But these are virtually unobtainable outside the UK, except through « specialist » importers at two or three times the normal price. Please, for your many subscribers outside of the UK, could you do us a make-your-own brown sauce video. Thankyou, and keep up the good work.

I'll take the Microwave over the Air Fryer for helping Humanity though, I use the Microwave EVERY day, the Air Fryer... once a month at best... for Frozen Onion Rings or Tater Tots.

I use spray oil for the second basting, much less clean up and no waste oil. Thank you for your video.

Good luck with the recipe John. Thanks for watching. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
Thanks for watching and subscribing, Anthony. Welcome aboard my friend. I'll certainly look into your brown sauce request. These big sauce companies very closely guard their recipes. But I'll see what I can find out.
The preheating tip is a good one... never thought of that... will try it in my air fryer oven.... I looked up best potatoes for roasting.... "Potatoes - Perfect roast potatoes start with the right potato. The higher the starch content in your potato, the crispier it will become in the oven. Agria, Red Jackets, Red Rascal and Vivaldi are some of the best options. Avoid Yukon Gold as it has a lower starch content"....
This is for New Zealand, thought I would mention it as you said Yukon Gold
Ever considered doing an air fryer recipe book? Like simple recipes for quick and easy meals?
Cheers

Very kind. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
I'll have to give this a try. I've always par boiled in Garlic or Rosemary (and even Both) or even Chicken Stock or Corned Beef Stock, then used the roaster in the oven.
Thanks for watching my friend ❤️ much appreciated.
Thanks John. Will try these def 👍👍 look forward to other air fry recipes never fail with your excellent tutorials. Thank you sir. God bless you
Awesome, thank you! God bless you and yours Barry. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
I love potatoes and these look delicious! Thank you! Are those 2 potatoes native to England? I've been to Indian markets and came across different potato varieties. I visited South America and learned there are 150+ potato varieties in Colombia, S.A. Never knew there could be so many different potatoes!
They are certainly available in all of the UK. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
Those are great John! I will use a spray oil instead of the liquid oil. It's easier to apply. Thanks!

I just bought this air fryer in Germany (it was on special) 3 days ago, I am on my own so I do not need anything big. I have been doing a few things: eggplant and pumpkin from the garden - terrific, easy sucessful and quick. A cake recipe - total desaster - ended up in the wood stove. Tonight I would like to make a few roast potatoes I have left from the rather small harvest this year. I found your channel, thank goodness no fuss, no nonsense, no annoyinbg background music . I shall try this tonight with a piece of plain salmon just with a bit of seasoning and some herbs. The spuds do look great!

Unbelievably good, thanks.
Thank you, and thanks for watching my friend. Here is my latest video recipe. Air Fryer Pizza profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-pepperoni-pizza/
Thanks John, I've been roasting my spuds in my airfryer for a while now so much faster than using the cooker so cheaper on power too. I also roast carrots, parsnips, pumpkin, and gold sweet potato they turn out great and chips are super easy as well.. Looking forward to more airfryer recipes from you. I have all your books and have made !it's of your bread recipes. When is number 2 bread book coming out, you have lots of recipes on line that are not in the books. 😊
Thanks for your support Sharon. I'm working on a couple of book projects at the moment. Another general recipe book, which will include new bread recipes and an air fryer recipe book, haven't got any plans for another all bread book 2 yet, but you never know.
Thanks for watching Sharon my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/

Excellent recipe John, I particularly like the no par-boil part.
On a different note, do you have a recipe for home made sausage? I really would like to see an episode regarding sausage making.😎
Not yet! Norman. but I'll definately look into it. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
I’m a little old school, love a real roast! No room in the kitchen for another gadget, when the oven can do it all.
Thanks for watching my friend ❤️ much appreciated.
If cooking for one or 2 people save time and money with airfryer as can do small quantity
I'm "Old School" too which is why I have been an avid viewer of this channel for years. I even have a convection (fan-assisted) feature in my stove, but I just ordered a Ninja air fryer from Amazon. Based on John's Air-Fryer videos, the cooking process will be faster, and results, like the roast chicken, will be superior to my present method of baked chicken which tends to be dry and chewy.
We make air fryer potatoes every week….so good!
Hi from 🇨🇦
Hi Shelagh, Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
I have a rib roast that is just about done in the smoker, I'm about to make this to go with that. Loved all your recipes I've tried.
Mine didn't come out near as crispy but I'm using a Ninja Foodie (crock pot/air fryer/pressure cooker/bunch of other stuff) so it probably needs slightly different times and temps, I've noticed that with air fryers, different brands or styles take slight differences, still was cooked all the way and tasted great.
Washing off the starch and drying is very important to the crispness, just in case you missed that step. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
John, could you show us chips, too, please? Our inlaws got an air fryer and it has remained in solitary confinement in the cupboard for over two years! And all they really wanted it for was chips! I'm gonna show them this so they can do roasties, I think all they really need is a method and a bit of confidence... me too! Thank you for this, JK 👍
Chips are on the air fry list. Thanks for watching my friend. Here is the ingredients list and full written method on the channels website, profoodhomemade.com/air-fryer-roast-potatoes/
I sprinkle a oxo cube and oil on mine and they are delicious. 😋👍
