- This video covers some of the new updates that will be coming to AUM MidiMixer version 1.01. It also covers a possible way to control the mixer over a remote Bluetooth connection from a second iPad.
Longer fade times very much appreciated, Paul, perfect now for slow evolving ambient jam scapes. Midimixer is going to be in every one of my AUM sessions from now on, and will actually allow me to finally orchestrate them into something productive and usable! App of the year, maybe? 😃🙏
That is great to hear spider, and thanks for you taking the time to comment mate.
This is a great app, just a couple of wishes, please could the snapshot buttons be a little bigger, and if you could expose the snapshot button in Midi so they could be triggered by an external Midi controller, that would be fantastic. Only got to buy Lryrist for the full suite of your programs.
Yes! I agree the snapshot buttons are way too small. Make them bigger or mudi controlable!
Congratulations Paul another brilliant app👍
Don’t know what to say to this heavenly great app 🙏👏👏😊👍🏼🐝 thanks Sir Paul
Thanks mate, and thanks for all the great reviews matey, I appreciate it.
It’s the truth 😁😏

I defy anyone not to love this app. Paul you’re the best.. have a great weekend my friend.
Thanks Stephen, thanks for your kind words as always. I guarentee by the end of the day I will have one or two thumbs down! (we all have our critics) lol
@@PaultheMusicMan Your output is astonishing. I own most of your apps, and, while the odd one isn't my cup of tea, I think you do a brilliant job. I love this new one - it really does a great job, and I'm looking forward to this new update, which looks just the ticket. Using the 24-mixer option will be great for separating drum tracks from the rest of a mix, as you say. Thumbs up!
I have my iPad Pro!
Over the next week I hope to get it figured out enough to actually turn it on, lol. MIDI Mixer is definitely going on it, I really like the layout and with the second 12 channel desk and 3 lanes it gives me ideas for more organized compositions than the hot stove, move the pots organized chaos approach I have been experimenting with.
@@MsUsernameification My GF also agrees with you, she thinks my output is excessive too and often orders me to shut my cakehole! That said, I appreciate the kind words and just glad you guys can put my little inventions to good use.
@@PaultheMusicMan haha. You must get a proper little buzz out of your inventions. I tried my hand at programming years ago but failed miserably.
OMG! It just keeps on getting better! 🙏
I enjoy these tutorials, better yet straight from the creator. Reviews will always be a bonus for ideas that just happen or offer suggestions to make this even better, since you actually are listening.
Can’t wait.
Do you know a autotune app different than voloco for ios?
The only app I have with auto tune, is not really an auto tune app but has a basic auto tune function is Vocal Soloist. It is really a harmonizer, but the process of tracking the pitch of your voice and creating a harmony at a perfect 5th/7th etc. requires some form of autotune. It is worth a look, but I have no idea what voloco is so I can't really compare.
Awesome App...very fast and great update. Wonderful result from a great collaboration of you & Ed The Outcasts 🙏🏽🖤🙏🏽🖤🙏🏽
You the man! the music man.. 👍🏻 you done it again excellent 🙏
Love this, well done!
WOW WOW WOW, Unbelievable! This is truly a... (don't say it... don't say it). Great time to be getting into iOS music! Very clear explanation, thanks! edit: Oh! I didn't realize you were the Dev. RESPECT for giving the people what we need! Brilliant app filling a gaping gap in AUM workflow. It's a GAMECHANGER! (there, I said it).
Brilliant update!
Why did AUM develop a mixer like this?Great demo nice app.
AUM is the best music app on iOS period... its a masterpiece IMHO, but it is lacking a few features!
Paul, where can I find the manual for this good app?
You can find the Help on the main menu (button under the power button).
Brilliant! You are a Wizard.. things get mentioned/requested + you’ve added them in an update lickity-split.. really quite incredible + open-minded.. Excellent work Paul.. 👍 thank you kindly.. 🙏
Paul, I just discovered this app after using AUM for a few months and it’s a gem. I was wondering if there’s a way to map the snapshot scenes to midi? I want to use my midi foot controller to load scenes but don’t see how, though I admit I’m a bit of a midiot :)
I believe you can use midi note on messages on channel 15 (notes 0-15) to enable snapshots. You may need to turn on Remote Control in MIDI Settings to use this.
@@PaultheMusicMan Channel 16 is working for me. Yes, had to turn on Remote Control.
Just downloaded. When I click for the AUM project template via the app it brings me to the root folder of iCloud Drive. Cannot figure out where the two templates are located?
Hi Paul, great and useful update. I have a question though? It is the editable automation aspect of this which interests me most, as I would really like to use my LaunchControl XL hardware to physically control a mix in AUM, (which I can do already, of course) but *then* have the option to edit what I have just done in your app. Is there any way to map the physical sliders and pots of the LaunchControl, or any class compliant controller to the app? Alternatively, would a Bluetooth-capable hardware control surface like the Korg Nano Control Studio be able to do it? I would seriously consider getting one just to run this with AUM in the way described. Thanks!
I previously used a Korg NanoStudio myself for controlling AUM, but MIDIMixer really works better in most respects as you can control more elements at a time. MIDIMixer cannot record incoming MIDI, it can only generate and send it. The recorder section records its own knob and fader movements etc. but not external. I tried to make this app simple, and not fall foul of MIDI feedback loops and the likes, which are all too common when you both play and record.
@@PaultheMusicMan ah, ok. Thanks for the prompt response. :)
This is on my to get list, I like your apps.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate the support.
This is great stuff, I recently bought a Behringer Flow 8 interface mixer.. which can be controlled via midi. Flipping to its app was a slight chore.. but not anymore!
This app will be so much fun with the extra send knobs.. trigger the file player via AUM keyboard (or remape midi mixers mute buttons) and then tweak fx and faders for dub techno heaven!
Jammmmmmmi git Andrew wouldn’t mind a flow myself. How much
@@kentaccordionist theyre £210 unless you mean mine - which is not for sale ! ! ;)
@@SabcatPrinting not bad I thought they would be a lot more. I might be able to afford that some time next year.
Epic! Epic! Epic! So... Transwarp for midi by next week then👍🏻🤯🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 Brrrilliant app - as always😎😎 Thank you.
Added the ability to trigger snapshots remotely by sending notes 0-7 on MIDI channel 16.
Can i use my custom CC#, not the fix notes 0-7 ?
No because quite a few of the CC# are already used for other things... see settings. I didn't realise I'd added note control in there. I will look into this and see if I can add CC control too.
Paul, can you add a feature to make the scenes buttons bigger?
I would if I wasn't so limited for space.
@@PaultheMusicMan Thank you so much, I understand. Awesome, useful app!
The perfect addition to midi mixer would be to have the mix snapshots option to quantize to bar, half, quarter, etc
I setup different snapshots and trigger them while recording in AUM and a lot of times when I change the snapshot I’m slightly early or too late 🤣 having it lock to Note clock values would make things so much easier for this workflow.
But don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the abilities MIDI mixer already has given me in AUM! Great app!
@@elipsis1 Great idea, and noted... good idea for live work I guess although I think most automate this via MIDI.
Excellent update, thank you! Given the three user lanes, is there any way to route an external modulation source to those that will be recorded as part of the automation? For example, sending an LFO on CC20 to MIDIMixer that automates the movement of the user 1 knob?
Brilliant! This is a real game changer.
This is fantastic!
Is it possible to see two different mixer layouts at the same time?
Eg. The standard fader layout along with the user layout for easy access to faders and aux sends.
Not currently, and that is only due to the fact I'm conscious of not taking up too much screen, but I may consider this in the future, especially those using remote control
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks Paul, it would be very useful for anyone (like me) wanting a full screen 8 or 12 channel traditional mixer view for live dub mixing - keep up the good work!
Great app! Would you consider adding a feature to make the snapshots controllable via midi? It would be great to have a hardware controller change snapshots!
Maybe this feature already exists... try sending midi notes 1-8 on MIDI channel 16. Keep it to yourself mind you! Just make sure you are using v1.01. Come to think of it this is why I didn't cover it in the updates video.
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks for the reply! I've just updated, but it doesn't seem to work unfortunately. I have access to all the new stuff, so the app is up to date.
I mapped both an external controller and the internal AUM keyboard directly to midimixer, but it doesn't respond to any midi note on any channel. I've monitored the midi data via streambyter. To be clear: 9F 01 7F should trigger snapshot 1, correct?
@@anonymus8760 My apologies, this was my mistake. It is actually part of 1.02 which is not yet released. Hold tight it is coming later this week. For some reason I though this made it to the current release.
@@PaultheMusicMan alright, no worries. Super stoked that it's coming!
Great work!
