The snow conversaton is the most TRG are bros for life conversation i've ever heard from them
Jon offering to take his friends snowmobiling was really sweet and wholesome.
32 years old, and I’ve never experienced snow outside of a screen, so I can definitely understand Emile having that mindset as a kid.

Errmmh, What's Snow
13:15 Chugga has indeed told this story before; the phrasing was something along the lines of _"Would you believe I thought snow was fantasy weather that Charles Shulz invented"_
11:30 well that was a reversal of roles. Jon missed something on the board and chugga reminded him what the space does.
Oh boy. Maynie, my favorite character to play as in 100% Orange Juice. A character that can stack up to +9 attack and +9 evade if she gets her hyper. With enough determination and the right board events, it's fun to terrorize people on the board with Raging Madness, but if any one of her targets gets KO'd by anything, it ends.
If going for Wins instead of Stars, Maynie can corpse-treadmill her way into collecting Rage Counters, but it can be risky if you have a lot of Stars in your wallet and are up against bully-type characters. Either way, a solid Maynie player is capable of keeping her Rage bottled up until the right moment to strike. I once back-to-back KO'd the Manager boss from someone using Oh My Friend and it was soooooooo satisfying...
Ah a fellow terrorizer. I certainly did this in a VC with a streamer and it was great to hear them react to "Oh you have the nice present mod." though they were also a good sport who did as was told when stated: "Can you do me a favor? Stay alive"(*proceeds to run around with +7/+1/+7 and +8/+1/+8 to win as I avoided the streamer*)
So, does she lose wins if she kills the wrong person?
@@pokedude720 no it is just regular enemies give .5 wins(0) Players(unless otherwise noted) give 1 win, boss gives 1.5 wins(1) and the target gives 4 wins while hyper is up hence why I like the strategy of pop it and keep it on people you think will last a while and avoid them to get stars/wins with like +9/+1/+9
Not going to lie? I would love to see a vlog of Emile and Tim visiting Jon in his Hometown of Newfoundland and Jon teaching Emile how to snowboard and ride snowmobiles.
So long as it actually gets posted to YT and not some random other website like Twitter, at least.
Wait, Jon’s not from Calgary?
@@moneygrabbercodswollop8133 Nope. In this episode he mentioned he was from Newfoundland.
@@landmine121 ohhhhhh I didn’t get that far since I had to stop watching to go back to work
@@moneygrabbercodswollop8133 I believe he lives in Calgary though, despite being originally from Newfoundland
I like Chugga's sprite animations but the old fan in me kinda wishes his victory pose was him finding a shiny Koffin. But what we got is just as good.
Good ole Methane
OH MY GOD!
Or Groudon in a Nest Ball.
Or finding a phanpy
Are you sure it’s a coffin you want him to find and not a Koffing?
Yikes, Emile's on an absolute rampage!
Also, I hope the lads are actually able to have that "snowcation" once the plague is under control.
With talk of the wiki, and seeing as the characters this round have all already been seen before, I wanted to have a bit of fun and talk about arguably one of the worst characters in the game that both has and hasn't made an appearance: Flying Castle
I'm pretty sure Jon said it before, but yeah: the basic enemies and bosses are all playable! However to balance this, the bosses have reduced stats, and some form of gimmick so that they don't just completely obliterate everyone.
--------------------------------------------------
As a playable character, Flying Castle's stats are as follows:
Hp: 8
Attack: +1
Defense: -1
Evade: -2
Recovery: 6
Gimmick(s): Immune to battle cards while defending. *Cannot counterattack*
---------------------------------------------------
So... let's talk about the positives here. Flying Castle has THE highest HP stat of any character in the entire game! On top of this, it's immunity to cards while defending can make it really hard for opponents to KO them in one attack. It's hyper also has some positives, but we'll get their in a minute. The... +1 attack is pretty nice I guess, but that's where the good things about Flying Castle end. Even looking past the bad stats, the fact that Flying Castle CANNOT counterattack makes it incredibly risky if it ever ends up in front of an opponent, since it can't do anything to stop them from attacking (you can have -1 in all stats and be at 1 hp, and STILL attack flying castle with little to no risk of dying.) This does get a bit better with it's hyper... but not by much.
----------------------------------------
Hyper: Immovable Object
Level Requirement: 3+
Star Requirement: 20
On use, immediately ends your turn. For this chapter and the next one, you can't move (not even through warp cards)... but you gain +2 Defense, the ability to counterattack, and any players who land on the same panel as you HAVE to fight you.
----------------------------------------
Now, this sounds like a pretty good hyper... until you remember Flying castle's stats. That +2 defense only becomes a +1, which isn't all that great when you consider this is a 20 star card that can only be used at level 3 and up. However, it does let you pull some REALLY dirty tricks depending on the map, since you can block off entire paths around the board and force players to fight you. Not to mention, it can help shake off anybody who's been tailing you for most of the game... but that's about it. If the board's bad or people avoid you, then this hyper really doesn't do anything. It's meant to act as something of a revenge tool for the castle, but it's not even that good at it.
In the end, Flying Castle is a character that is designed to be a Tank, constantly heckling opponents by chasing after them and using Immovable Object to get rid of anyone trying to chase it. However, due to its mediocre stat spread from being a boss and its easy to dodge hyper, Flying Castle is arguably the worst tank in the entire game, relying heavily on a good board, lucky rolls, and movement cards to even have a chance of posing as a threat to anyone else. Now there's probably worse characters out there, but seeing as you have to be level 40 AND give 40,000 stars to even *play* as them, Flying Castle is in my opinion the worst character in the entire game.
Well, at least Chugga admits his attraction to Yang. Let's give him... a hand!
Barbara Dunkelman: I dont know why, but I think I'll kick Emile's butt tomorrow.
@@jordanhunter3375 Casey Lee Williams: Who's Emile?
Barbara: I don't know, but I really need to kick his butt.

12:32 Of course Jon would win the Fishing minigame. “Hey, where the hell is Froggy?! Buy my book, assholes!!”
Hard to imagine that, at this point in time, these guys will have had no idea how amazing colosseum was going to be, arguably one of their best outings in the format.
White Winter is one of these boards where it's incredibly hard to land on a base due to the amount of enemy tiles, drop tiles, and general space of the board. I'm ready for the long haul game.
Yeah, it's one of the boards that heavily favors star hoarders. People who rely on win normas suffer on White Winter.
I shit you not I had a game where my friend couldn’t norma for several DOZEN turns. Would’ve been funny had she not just gotten back from playing League…
Chuggaa has *snow* idea about the fun of winter-time activities.
And neither do I.
They’re going to have a *Cold War*
To be fair he grew up in Arizona.
*Icy* what you did there Mario Party 8 and the Pokémon anime have already made this pun, Blue_Boo.
For anyone watching and having a hard time telling the Move Warp and normal Warp spaces apart, there IS a mod that makes the Move+Warp spaces a darker shade of purple than the normal ones. Easy, simple, honestly one of those things you shouldn't need a mod for in the first place, but it exists.
Another correction: Raging Madness gives you half as many wins and stars if you KO a player that ISN'T your target. So, instead of getting 2 Wins if you KO a player, you would get 1 instead.
To explain the fishing minigame (not that the Guys need it by now, probably, but someone might be wondering), you get a certain amount of points for each type of fish, and you get bonus points for catching the same type of fish multiple times in a row, or for completing your grill (the three fish in the middle, separate for each player). You earn 0, 1, or 2 wins depending on how you placed against the other players, and you get one star for every 6 points you earn.
There is one Peanuts strip from the 1950s where Linus (then very young) is terrified when he sees it snow for the first time - Charlie Brown has to tell him it isn't, as he thought, the fallout from a nuclear attack!
As a person who has lived in Southern and Central California a lot of his life, I agree with child Emile's stance on snow. I remember being the only one in school not impressed the one time in 30 years it snowed in Sacramento when I was in high school.
Snowmobiling sounds amazing. It’s also very weird seeing Fish-o-Fish again after grinding a lot of boards to get everything in that event.
Now I'm picturing Jon and RosaJon as literal split personalities of each other, with that whole yin yang thing.
You'll understand if you look that up.
Fitting board for the next 2 seasons (one being Fall which begins this month and the other specifically being winter) for the final 2 1/2 months of the year starting tomorrow
Except for southern hemisphere watchers, where it's Spring and Summer.
@@BigKlingy yup
White Winter? But we’re holding a barbecue outside and there’s not a speck of snow to be found!
5:46 On the other hand though, Raging Mode sounds great for getting into fights with generic enemies or the boss since they’re not potential targets. You just have to be sure if you KO a player then you KO the one who counts.
7:20 So in that case why should Maynie players bother going after their mark unless they really need the additional wins and/or stars? Also I remember reading a comment saying that should a Maynie’s target get KO’d even if it was not by Maynie’s hands, Maynie leaves her rage state. Thus one strategy when dealing with an enraged Maynie is to purposely get KO’d by anything other than Maynie on the off chance you’ll quell her rage and make her lose her buffs.
Here’s one other way to look at it, Past Jon. Every time you’ve been Rosa, you’ve lost. Every time you’ve stayed as Jon, you’ve won. In other words, the game wants you to lose.
12:11 Who put Fog of War in my fishing minigame?
Well! Want a fast and hectic OJ game? Turn on fishing!
"unless they really need the additional wins / stars" is pretty often, since you often use it near the end of the game for that last 100-star swing :p
It's basically like you say. Many Maynie players DO like to go after everyone BUT their target initially because, even with only half the rewards, Raging Mode turns her into a CRAZY killing machine. However, there's still the matter of Maynie wanting to kill her target and get the extra wins before something/someone else kills them and she loses Raging Mode anyway. Also, if you think you're Maynie's target (which you don't always know for sure), it IS a strategy to purposely die safely (such as outside of battle without losing stars) so she loses Raging Mode.
that first statement is literally Australia
@@chickennugget6684 So where does the “White” come in for Australia’s winters?
it uhh.. doesn’t
unless you live in the mountains i guess
..Not a speck of snow to be found..
Maynie’s design reminds me of a certain barbarian with a Critical Role, now I can’t stop thinking of her being intensely eager to enter rage.
Also, that thumbnail with Tim and that bbq pit…… GAH! Now I’m thinking of food🤣🤣🤣
Chugga thought snow was fantasy weather. I always feel like dollars are fantasy currency. I've only seen a real dollar once in my life.
lets see, if this was ~2 months before coliseum... then this was not long after i cursed Jon for sending his weather to Texas
13:41 I'm sorry, *what* happened?
I legit want to hear more about this.
3:05 EMILE!
Edit: Corrected the time stamp.
That snow story is the cutest thing I've ever heard
2:20 Emile….. please don’t change that innocent mind….
3:04 Ah yes... innocent.
@@Skelatox Yup….
I'm ultimately in a similar boat to Emile, it used to snow a lot where I live but now it hardly does at all. But damn, imagine not seeing snow for the first four years of your life...
Put it this way for Maynie: when you kill someone other than your target, you get half as many stars and wins than you would normally. So when fighting any normal character, she'd only get 1/4 of their stars and only one win. but she'd get 1/2 stars and 4 wins from killing her target.
But Maynie should never kill her target because that would mean her Rage Mode ends. And why would you want to lose all that ATK and EVD? No one can even hope to challenge you and win without specific battle cards. Plus your death in Rage Mode doesn't end your rage, so there's no reason to try fighting a raging Maynie since she'll just get back up as angry as ever.
14:45 you will fall a lot when skiing, as anyone who watched Jon's Yoshi's Island LP can confirm
That fishing game was pure chaos.
Funny story about the fishing minigame: I played maybe 5 or so full games with the minigame before I realized you could choose where to cast. My friends were so awful at it tho, that I still consistently placed 1st or 2nd.
Sumika's pros should include "Her theme is a damn banger"
A second returning guest character: Maynie, who previously appeared as the AI player for the second Christmas Miracle match.
Out of curiosity, for the people who are more knowledgeable about the game than me:
Are there any restrictions on characters that can be randomly selected as the AI? I’d imagine people like Tomomo and Mio who have to be unlocked wouldn’t be able to appear as random AI opponents until that’s accomplished. But are there any other restricting factors? Two repeat characters in a row makes me wonder if the pool is smaller than I thought or if the RNG on the character selection just happened to turn out like that.
I don't know if the characters that are bonuses from buying other games on Steam don't appear or are just extremely rare.
I know this Game of Thrones reference has been done to death, but I'm very surprised Emile didn't make it. "Winter is coming to 100% Orange Juice!"
3:08 He's out of line, but he's right
White Winter? Does everyone know winter is coming?
13:33 Just bring Emile up to Maine where Winter lasts nearly half the damn year lol
Post-level map redesign White Winter: a large board with plenty of move options where games can sometimes go long
Original White Winter: Literally never-ending round hell. no move, warp-move, or ice spaces. Gigantic. players spend forever reaching bases.
Hearing them talk about snow and snowmobiling really makes me want them to play Go Vacation at some point. It takes a little bit to get there, but there’s a snow resort in the game, not to mention each of the four resorts are free-roaming.
I think I just really want the gaming channels I follow to acknowledge that game for more than three episodes...
Perfect fish place for Artic Land in Ice!
12:26 TIm and Emile's sprites are positioned perfectly here.
I've lived in Wisconsin since I was one and a half. I can't imagine not seeing snow in real life.
The snowman is meme for this game.
John had the wins for the next norma but picks the stars norma... Oh no... Did Chugga successfully distract him?
13:20 Jon is too used to going for stars. He already has 3 wins when only 2 are needed, but 20 stars when 30 are needed.
I hope Mayne gets to use her hyper this time, the theme song both bops and instills fear.
Can confirm on the falling alot. Went to Colorado to Ski/Snowboard back when I was 9 and while snowboarding went fine...skiing not so much. I went down one hill, started walking with the skis on to get to the lift, and proceeded to have the right ski snag on the ground and crack me in the mouth, causing me to bleed like a pig and I had to get patched up at the medical office and get picked up by my parents.
Yeah no mas on the skiiing lol, but snowboarding felt shockingly natural
Jon's the only Canadian in the call who has gone ice fishing... hell, he's the only Canadian in the call PERIOD. lol OMG YES, Banff is fucking BEAUTIFUL. Me and the boyfriend went up there in summer '19... it was SO nice and I didn't want to leave.
I love the background art.
ah yes, trg will never know the true hell that was old white winter
Do you mind if I ask what old White Winter was like?
@@AlphaOutlaw no warp move panel or ice panels and i think no warp panels by homes (i think they were drop spaces) , basically you had to go aloooot of spaces to reach a home, you were fucked if you had randomwarp enabled
I'd like to ask about this as well. Considering I jumped in when Tsih and Tequila were the most recent DLC, this must be an archaic thing.
@@ThePiplupmaster Oh, that's just bad. I'm glad that the changes were made after that

Yin; to the Yang
Books called Yang...
Oh...I get it...or am I burned?
And we have a Weiss time
Most fun I had in winter is tubbing down Marble Mountain.
Ah White Winter... probably the smallest of the "Large" boards, but still quite fun. And yes, there is a thing as board size... and yes it does matter for some characters. Remember Star Breakers Hyper 'Star Blasting Fuse' and how it spawned 3-5 'Invisible Bombs'? The actual amount dropped depends on the size of the map, so if she was present today (minor spoilers, she's not) she'd spawn 5 bombs per hyper.
(almost 4 minutes in)
Oh no... REVENGE of Maynie!
Meanwhile, while none are a waifu, I’m a huge fan of Penny Polendina…
ProtonJon is from Newfoundland but he doesn't have an actual NFL accent. I guess that's from living in Alberta for so long. Still, I'd love to see Emile ice fish, and eventually get tired of it before catching anything. Interesting how where you grow up can determine your accent because as a fellow Canadian, people don't generally notice my accent as much.
8:50
I managed to saw that one coming somehow!
Those Rwby puns...smack him!
*chuckling*
I know I'm too close to civilization in Canada because I never even considered doing ice fishing before.
3:25 Good luck Maynie is actually not played too bad by the AI and is very deadly the only issue is they may not always use things too well
5:32 No it is like player has 200 stars but isn't the target opposed to the normal 100 stars 2 wins you receive 50 stars and 1 win much like with a normal enemy you would receive no wins while raging mode is active but that said it is a way to balance it so people don't get a serious advantage by being +9/+1/+9 though I did state at one point "Do me a favor and don't die" and proceeded to ignore my "target" and murder everyone else until I got 14 wins
5:56 You do get to pick a living(active) person so for example if it was a player you can pick someone you think will live a while and murder the rest until you view your target as a threat
12:40 just a note it is clicking and if you get 2 jellyfish it is a combo and gives you extra points and if you get all 3 stated fish you will get a huge bonus which in this case was 26
3:05 Where's the spray bottle when you need it

I wonder if Emile misses the desert?

They definitely changed Mayine's hyper apparently. Usually, she'll kill anyone on board(and get 50% of someone's stars), if you watched Mayine's trailer from 100% OJ.
I’m not sure what you mean. Her hyper is the same as the trailer.
@@Neoaltmint Jon ended up saying about her having only 25% of the character's stars instead of 50%. Yet, her attack should be a +9 attack and evade while her defense is -1. Surely, they changed the hypers for the characters like Mayine. I'll double check it later.
@@I_am_too_sleepy Her stats in rage mode are dependent on how many rage counters she has, the trailer gives her max counters. Also the wording of the card is the same as the trailer which is "-50% stars and wins" from non-targets. In a more normal way of reading that's 25% stars and 1 win.
