The chicanes weren't added for safety in the fast section, but rather as a nerf to extremely high speed cars after the WMP88 set the speed record in 1988 and the very next year the Sauber C9 completely obliterated the event (both first and second were C9s, plus one in fifth), that's why the chicanes came in 1990, literally the year after, it wasn't for safety, it was because other manufacturers complained at how unfair the massive straight was, being almost half the length of the track, and thus giving a massive advantage to top speed cars.
LMP1 has not been a class for a while now its LMDH or LMH (le mans daytona hypercar or just le mans hypercar) also in the GT class only AM is still driving
WEC calls that the Hypercar Class, which consists of LMH and LMDh (we are unsure about what the h stands for in LMDh... some say hypercar, some say hybrid. So far, their has been no official clarification from the FIA or ACO about it) spec cars. In North America's IMSA.... it's called the Grand Touring Prototype, or GTP for short. At the moment, it is only for LMDh machines, which makes a bit of sense when you realize that LMDh spec was developed to replace the previous DPi spec specifically. Still, there doesn't seem to be an interest from LMH manufacturers to get involved into GTP outside of a few rumours that have gone unconfirmed. GTE is set to be replaced in 2024. The GTE AMateur class that you see in WEC, ELMS, ALMS and IMSA's WTSC will end with the 2023 season. It will be replaced with GT3 spec machines for the LMGT3 class in the following year.
The 2023 race was a classic, one of the best in history. And thank you for showing the Inter Europol car and its class win. That is one of the underdog stories on the year.
Although the narrative is pleasant to listen to, there are mistakes in it, as well as in the editing. You begin with the very first race, held in 1906 and do explain the "pauses", however you haven't once mentioned that the original race was not held at the same "track", its length, which was one of the longest if not the longest at the time? Nor any mention of the 1911 track, where it was moved to. It was only in 1921 when the event was first hosted on the same track where its still hosted today (with numerous changes of course). As it was already mentioned, LMP1 has already been replaced by LMH and LMDh cars, you also spoke of GTE Pro and GTE AM, although GTE Pro didn't race in 2023 anymore, as well as the whole GTE class is to be dropped by the end of the year and replaced with GT3. And speaking of dropping, LMP2 is also getting axed in the 2024 season of World Endurance Championship (which you also didn't mention, which Le Mans 24hr is part of), even though there are 15-ish slots reserved for them on the 24hr race. And finally the images/clips, while most were on point, but certain were way out of place. Just because a car looks like a prototype, like the Radical or a Praga i.e., it's not a Le Mans prototype. Nice video, but could do with a bit more detail 🤩

I always thought the Mille Miglia was the craziest race in history. That and maybe the Carrera Panamericana too. Le Mans and the Indy 500 are probably the 2 greatest races in the world, and Le Mans has had lots of its fair share of drama but in terms of sheer danger and how many people died in that race the Mille Miglia is hard to beat
The 24 Hour at Nurburgring is also a challenge because of the sheer number of cars on the track, over 100, and speed differentials of 100 MPH or more on the straightaway between some of the classes. Even though there are over 170 corners on the track, the cars are still going blindingly fast through many of the corners. If you want to feel your heart in your mouth, watch an onboard of a top class car for a full lap around the circuit.
This isn't the "craziest race in history", it isn't even the oldest, and as for the circuit - well it's not exactly especially long......... the only reason it gets any coverage is the 24 hours. Craziest race??? Isle of Man TT RACES, plural........ not one race, but multiple races held daily, circuit = 37 + miles.
Le Mans is definitely a exciting and historical race but it’s far from the craziest. That title has to go the Isle of Man TT. In the 102 race events held 266 people have died and 155 of them on the mountain alone. It’s almost a statistical guarantee someone will die every year. In 1970 6 riders died. In 2016 5 riders died.
