Padmasana - The best Asanas to Practice Pranayama and Meditation. It is Also Called as Kamalasana or Lotus Posture.
Sanskrit word Padma means Lotus and Asana means Posture. In the final position of this posture both feet are places on opposite thighs while soles are turned upward. The position of the legs and feet resemble leaf of Lotus flower. And the two hands arranged one above other seems like blooming lotus.

I have knee pain but not sever .I have been doing excercise for knee pain. Can I do padmasan in knee pain?

You have to consider as per your condition. If you knee pain is because of stiffness or injury you have to recover from that. But if it’s because of age, degeneration or arthritis then i am afraid to recommend you. Hope this answer helps. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Namaskaram! With all my respect I would like to add few more guidelines. About the practice around 8min: you're stiff and you going to push your knee down, you going to damage yourself the knee have to be locked it is not designed for side ways movement, what he does he does it correctly but the movement coming from the hips/glutes/. I nearly caused permanent damage by doing that so be cautious please.
If you push push above the knee(thighs) not the knee joint.
The practice by 11min is great but make sure that you flex your feet back so you lock the knee and your ankle pass your other leg.

Thank you for your experience and opinion. Your body is your Guru in asana practice so listen and respect to it whenever you practice, not only to Sadhaguru. I have achieved my Padmasana by these practices and so many my co-practitioners followed same too without having any ‘damage’. 🙏🙏

Thank you for your comment. For kurmasana you need excellent hips, hamstrings and spine flexibility. For ardha baddha padma paschimottanasana you need to ability to do Padmasana perfectly and same time shoulders and arm flexibility.

I think you are having very thin lower legs, muscle around shin have less mass. Try rotating lower legs a bit if it works for you.

Maybe your shoulders are stiff so you need to try something for shoulder mobility. As I don’t know the real issue you for having so difficult to suggest what really need to do.

None of this is necessary. Just sit cross legged and put weights on your knees and let hips open by sitting half hour daily or however long you want, however quickly you want to achieve full lotus.

I see your left kneecap not on the floor(at the beginning of the video). Is it possible to make both kneecap be on the floor?
Not necessarily both knees will touch. We need to respect body mechanics and same time If your thighs are little heavy, difficult to bring both need close to floor.

You can follow same practices to get flexibility in joints and they will help you for sitting in cross legs
When sitting in ardha padmasana while meditating is it normal for one side to be elevated because of my lack of mobility?

Thank you for your feedback. You are senior citizen and have restricted joints movement, my suggestion is that you should not overdo anything and it’s not necessary to do Padmasana for you. You always need to listen to your body and know the limitations which comes with age, gender and physiological conditions.

When I try padmasana I feel more discomfort and pain on foot joint so on this which one should I practice more to get rid of that pain and discomfort
Maybe your ankle joints have some issues or weakness. Need to work on them or you are not putting your ankle joints on top of the thighs.
How to sit in padamasana for 2 hours without any movement
Not how to sit.. you just have to sit for 2 hours if you want to. What is purpose for sitting 2 hours?
@@YogicConcepts I can sit around half an hour while doing meditation in padamasana. But when it goes beyond half an hour pain and numbness starts and I loose my stable mental state. I want to feel this mental state as long as I want may be 2 hours or it could be whole nights. Please tell me solutions for this . If you can provide private sessions that would be great.
