I for one really loved the girl on the darker chestnut! She wasn't pushing him/her and was letting him/her figure it out and get comfortable without being kicked or whipped over a jump
Frida Olund that was purely because she wasn’t confident, but the pony was great and although she wasn’t confident, the rider gave just enough leg to get over the fence xx
The chestnut pony is so funny and cute ! Lol when he doesn't want to jump down the step and then basically falls down it on the side haha.

Kio Ja The horse bent it's neck on its own. My horse would do that when I'd try to get him to go over/throw something he didn't want to go throw.
Nah, it looks like the rider is definitely trying to correct him and he stepped sideways anyways. It was pretty cute and the rider did a good job being gentle and patient and he looked so proud of himself after he made it down. lol
I'm joining the group- that chestnut is a tricky horse to ride, and has a ton of brilliant potential- I'm applauding that young rider for her skill at getting the most out of him, being encouraging, and not losing her patience. What a team they are already! They will only get better, stronger, and more bonded over time as that trust grows. I love it!
Not taking away from the other riders at all- but that made me happy to watch. Definitely the way you get better is to ride horses who need more guidance and encouragement.
That small chestnut guy is just so sweet! So carefull and with every obstacle it's like "Oh...well... I really don't know... Ah, fuck, nevermind, I go anyway!" So cute! And the big chestnut one just doesn't even care, he goes everywhere with that rider. Great work ladies!

I love how the girl on the bright chestnut pony (the one in the Pelham) was handling her pony, she pushed her pony just to the right point, without making it want to back off from the jump too much. great work :) Can tell it's a strong one, glad to see someone using double reins on a pelham too, for once!!!

People who do horse riding are probably the most critical people I've ever met. "You need to do this" or "you need to do that". You don't even know the horse or them, and you can't know so much about these horses if you only watched one video. What ever criticism you have, just remember that they are learning, and the Chesnut that people keep mentioning was probably there for experience, both rider and horse, so please just leave the criticism alone its ridiculous.
+Alex Grant (xhappyhoovesx) I do agree. A good training, everybody is learning. The chesnut is visibly a beginner, prudent (that's very good) but very good willed even when he is scared. He never panics and his rider too, very calm.

All I want to say is a big well done to you guys for doing so well! And a very huge thank you to the girl on the smaller Chestnut in the Pelham for using 2 reins. I hate seeing riders in gags and pelhams using roundings or one rein. It's about time that people realised what an elevator bit is for and how it should be used. Brill example. :)

I love the way you all are with your horses, when they look unsure or nervous you are all giving them reassurance and its lovely to see the amount of times you thank them after each jump by a little stroke :)
Wish I had a place like this to ride at with some friends. Nobody I know rides horses and I just have the trails by my house. Hopefully some day I will get to ride at a cool place like this. :)
I found this very satisfying to watch. I give the girl/woman with the chestnut lots of props because she was very patient with him and didn't freak out. AND I love all the options that eventing has. Who doesn't want to gallop around and do jumps... so much fun

why do people give advice. most of the time there is no point. They have been taught there way and maybe you have been taught differently. also, they ride a horse so they have to use a different technique

Boo seem's to be aproaching the jumps very nicely for XC. He is the cutest little thing. He responds to the leg and hand aids very well and does not pause in any of the jumps. He is very great at XC and would love to see him again. Keep up the good work ladies!

I love how the horses are all of different experiences. The chestnut seems very new to the whole thing whereas the strawberry roan-ish looking one seems to be very experienced with the course. All the riders did great, too.
A strong bit and spurs won't solve the problem of an underconfident rider. The horse ran out so many times and was never going forwards into a jump, the fall at the ditch was inevitable. You could see it every time that the rider wasn't giving him any clear instruction, nor did she seem like she wanted to jump either! The bit and spurs only confused the horse more. Get rid of the excessive equipment and learn to ride with your body and mind and/or get a horse you feel confident to ride and stop giving that one a complex!
She is riding fine. Stop hating. If she goes in with any more confidence she'll just fall on his neck because the horse is still going to run out. He's young and inexperienced with XC if you hadn't noticed. She's clearly better than you so leave her and her horse alone. She needed the sorus to get the horse going and the strong bit to get the horse steady because he's clearly strong but looses confidence at the jumps.
Couldn't agree more 👍 he never was going forward enough to get over the jumps and maybe at times she should've given some encouragement with the crop. She seemed to be hanging on to him a bit rather than getting him forward so he couldn't really take a good look and stretch his neck over the jump.

When you're practicing Showjumping, or Cross Country, it's important that either the horse OR rider is experienced with the challenges ahead. If neither are, that's where serious injuries are likely to happen. Watching the rider on the chestnut just makes me feel sick. Hard bid, short reigns, spurs, and constantly forcing the pony to do these jumps from insane positions. Don't force the horse to do something. Encourage it. An experienced rider is needed to train horses, and build their confidence, so an inexperienced rider can focus on his/her own technique, without also thinking about having to make the horse do the right thing. I had a hot, young horse once, who was afraid of virtually everything, and trained her to really enjoy showjumping. Her build weren't fit for more than LC ((1 meter) Danish level classifications), but she became exited when we went on the field. Her confidence became better, and she wasn't close to being as easily frightened of anything, as when I got her. I spent a bit over a year to accomplish this, with countless times just walking alongside her, and showing her at the jumps aren't as dangerous as they looked. Patience and encouragement is the key to training a horse.
I have so much admiration for the girl on the dark chesnut, he was clearly not as experienced or confident and she kept up with the other riders and helped him as much as she could.
Ok. I have been riding horses my whole life. Yes some horses need a stronger tug to slow down but you release after. I had to stop watching the video because those poor horses mouths must be so sore. You need to release the reins. I wouldnt be surprised if one day those horses snap and completely hurt you and run off. These horses are handled with harsh hands. Maybe if you released the reins they would listen.

+Kat Stylinson Also- the ears and tails would be acting very differently if they were overly stressed- I know when I've ridden horses who REALLY loved jumping, I needed constant contact in order to make sure the striding was correct.
There were a few times over the jumps that the horses' mouths were tugged on- but they really didn't seem to be bothered by it.
That's the point of training sessions by the way- the ability to maintain the proper contact without jerking and such doesn't come naturally- it has to be worked on.
Shut up lol everyone has a reason for the way they ride, don't coach them through a screen when they have a perfectly good trainer to coach them. The horses are probably speedy (they look it) and are there for practice and experience. Some horses need more bit contact then others, and some horses take the contact better then others.
Also some horses need you to hold them back and keep constant contact so they have enough power to get over the jump, my horse is that way and his mouth is in great shape and he has no mouth issues from it

The rider on the dark chestnut is so patient and I love how happy she is when he gets the courage to do something scary. It makes me really happy. 😂😊 he seems to really trust her and obviously he’s a willing learner. She got lucky with him.
U can't ride cross jumps like parkur, that fall was just YOUR mistake..

Love these horses and jumps, what great ideas! But the rider on the chestnut needs to go back to the basics. She needs to either get a different horse or ride better because clearly that horse is either green or a brat. If he's just a brat be more confident and kick him if he refuses, don't be afraid to use the crop you are holding or your aids. Don't just sit there. He's obviously smart and knows he can stop with no trouble. If he's green, okay, so let him look at the jumps, let him think about going down a ditch. But 2 times is enough after twice that pony needs a kick. After he got over himself he realized ok we mean buisness I'll do it. Reassure him that he won't fall in the ditch. Going down a bank if he stops let him have the reins buy be annoying with your leg and give him light taps with your boot. I've been riding/training green horses for 8 years now and let me tell you 80% of them all have been ponies and one kick and a pat is all I've needed to get them over a jump or past a scary door. Be more assertive of yourself...

She had two reins which doesn’t put as much pressure on the horses mouth, making it more comfortable for the horse. Don’t give them idiotic advise when you haven’t ridden that horse. The little chestnut looks tricky to ride so don’t me mean, she is doing an amazing job with him/her

im so glad that girl with the smallest chestnut pony fell off. she got what she deserved tbh. throughout the hole thing she had no leg on and just sat there, no encouragement. really annoyed me, the horse had to do ALL the work on his own, like when he didn't like the ditch near the start of the video, she jut sat there! nothing to help just was like 'oh ok i don't know what to do'. really pissed me off. who rides with a heavy bit with spurs anyway?

ThatChestnutFidget Xx you are so criticising !! Maybe she isn’t as experienced as everyone else. How can you say those things when you don’t know the first thing about her or her horse. You may be experienced but I’m pretty sure there are times that you have fallen off ( like any rider had including me ) which was caused by something you have done. Don’t criticise until your 100% or you know everything. Her horse clearly isn’t a typical riding school push button pony so it most probably isn’t the easiest of rides. For all you could know it could be a youngster or it’s first time xc schooling. So back off !! Thanks

i remember watching this years ago and absolutely loving the larger chestnut, not knowing that not long after i actually followed NEddiesGun/EddiesGun91 without knowing she was in this vid! its great to look back at old vids and see how far some people have come, its amazing. I just love Boo so much, such a good horse
The big light coloured horse (dun?) ridden by the man is such an amazing horse to watch. He's so full of spirit and energy and just wants to go go go! Must be a tough horse to ride but I imagine a lot of fun. Awesome video thanks for sharing!
That bay looks like such a nice ride! They seemed so collected and calm going into everything, it'd certainly be a confidence booster towards a nervous rider. The lighter chestnut also looks so fun as I prefer stronger horses but the rider did well with them! I feel like everyone had to learn with a horse like the darker chestnut. Clearly they're not an easy ride. It was obvious both the pony and rider were nervous the entire time, but they can learn from that. They needed a lot of persuasion and leg, which is always something you can learn with

Especially that girl was not good. Always petting the horse is nice, but cross country is not only a nice sport. It is a sport that needs lots of courage and a lot more knowledge. And that girl hat nothing of it. The horse should have had a rider that really tells him 'You can do it! I'll help you, an that is no problem for you'. The girl says 'You may do it. Try it. If it is not working it is not bad. Ouh that is scary, but we'll try. Oh you did it, what a luck.Oh you didn't jump, hm oops.'
An other point is the sharp bit. Sharp bits are for horses, that can be dangerously out of control, not for horses that are scared. She sacres the horse a lot more, even if she doesn't want to: The horse jumps, the bit hurts. The horse doesn't jump, the bit doesn't hurt. What would you do if you were that horse?
I wish I had a horse...my parents are too..poor to own one. I can't have horse lessons either it makes me sad somewhat. That aside, they were killing it! I may not own a horse personally but I know a lot. The chesnut's rider seemed so encouraging! They all match and make incredibly marvelous teams. My best wishes. 💞

Lmfao that little chestnut reminds me of my appy who, for many years, would basically RATHER DIE than JUMP DOWN into water (that bank with the puddle lol) he got so bad I had the clinician at a XC camp get on him to get him to jump down into the water.... he'd gallop through it, jump out, jump a fence heading into the water but rather than JUMP DOWN into it, he actually twisted his body in midair and landed JUST beside the water, sprawled out on his belly with the instructor still on his back like a friggin cartoon!!!! God it was a riot!!!!! Just like how that little nugget would apparently rather half pass off the SIDE of that bank where it's DRY than step down FORWARD where there's a little puddle!!! Hahahaha

Love this video so much cause it's a change from seeing other people schooling their horses' and when they do something wrong they either curse, hit or sometimes both. It's great cause in this video, no matter what jump, you always pat the horse and reassure it whenever it is trying to jump something. Great riders and horses!
The best way of bonding with your horse is praising him for every single tiny thing he does.

The dark bay and the bigger/lighter chestnut (or is it just a clipped horse) where so good and the girl on the little dark chestnut was also great even though it seemed that her pony (presumably) seemed less confident then the bigger horses!
