- How to achieve a 1940s continuous roll hairstyle using a series of victory rolls! The continuous roll was a hairstyle popular in the 1940s. During WWII, while so many young men were off fighting, women had to step into physical jobs. For safety reasons, these jobs had a lot of requirements about how women wore their hair. This meant they needed to wear their hair up away from moving machinery.
This new way of life for women led them to come up with creative ways to put their up. The continuous roll was one of these creative options. When styled properly, a continuous roll looks like 1 round element that travels around the entire hairline.
This tutorial shows how to connect 2 identical victory rolls to look like 1 continuous roll. If you style a few of these around your head and connect them, you can get a beautiful vintage effect.

That is so easy looking! I always thought this was a complicated style & have never seen a tutorial on it & certainly never tried it myself. I also never knew about closing the end of the roll & thought that must be hard too. Omg mind blown! Thank you!
So much GLAMOUR! What a time to be alive.
Would love to see a video with someone using this tool on their own hair
I just want to say Thank You for the roll and go tool. My daughter is in the band color guard at her high school. The band director choose victory rolls as the hair style. They are not as easy as they look, so getting 30 girls hair together in 45 min or less was a chore. I ordered the tool. Now we fly through the hair and the girls hair looks amazing, it would have never been possible without your tool. THANK YOU so very much.
Kimberly Stikes Thank you!
Man I miss my high school colorguard days, a vintage show would have been AMAZING!
Hand held dryers, the Roll n Go, and UA-cam make this style 21st century stuff!
Wonderful tutorial and Im getting the tool today. However, it would be more helpful to see a model doing this style on her own hair. Its completely different when doing it on someone as opposed to doing it on your own head.
Ooooh. Soooo nagical!!!! Beautiful.
The continuous curl roll made a comeback in the 1970's and 1980's.
I actually really love the 1970s and 1980s interpretations of vintage hair in high fashion.
Amazing!❤
love your hair styles. Im not even old enough to have seen them in the day but love the look all the same.
Such a great tutorial. More please!
perfect
I've been looking all over forba tuturial on this beautiful hair style. Thank you 😙
Get on with your own Dinah Shore self! Gorgeous!!!
I loved everything about this video. Especially the music!
Thanks!
Can explain how helpful this is thank you
Love it, absolutely!
Love it! That music tho 🤍🤍🤍
Kocham ten styl!
I'll be doing this for my pinning ceremony in December
Hi, I actually do a sort of faux version of this hairstyle. For the front and sides of the hair I do not roll it. I do the twist and push and some times I'll prep my hair with a little bit of pomade, comb up nice and tall to smooth out any splits. Oh and pin in place without any back combing. And I'll even style my hair like this when damp even though I have thin slightly wavy hair.
The model looks an awful lot like the FABULOUS Ginger Rogers!
Very beauitful!
Your work is amazing, your videos are a little hard to sit through though...but I do to learn. Thank you
💕 lovely 😊
Very pretty❤️
This is so lovely💖 Is it just me, but you look a lot like Ginger Rogers with that hairstyle💁🏼♀️
Hermoso peinado estoy aprendiendo bastante , lindos peinados para las chicas de esa época ,me enamoro
very pretty
Brilliant and beautiful.!! I was wondering if I could get this hair tool or was it vintage. And then right at the end ....the website!!! Thank you .
even the music:)
Always love your videos
Does anyone think that the model looks a lot like Mira Sorvino?
Lotte H I haven’t heard that, but the next time I see her I’ll have to ask if she has. :)
what's the music
Women sure musta had a lot of time on their hands in the 40s to do so much work on their hair!
What is that for a iconic music please?
Would it be possible to do a French twist or another vintage roll with this method? I love my hair curly but I work in a spa and have steam in my face all day. If I do a wet set overnight it’s sure to be ruined by the time I actually get off work, and if I want to go on a date or out with friends. I’m trying to find a style that will curl my hair, and look pretty taken down, but still look put together for the day.
You could do the rolls and then a gibson tuck in the back and it would look SO lovely!
Where can I buy the Roll and go tool please
Hi Pam. store.vintagehairstyling.com/roll-go-hair-tool/
😍😍😍😍😍
Had anyone used this before
Just curious...do you leave one side open?...I noticed you only connected one side.
Yes. You leave the front open. Look up pictures of betty grabel to see how her hair is. Its betty grabel inspired :)
What if I don't have that roll? Any ideas of what can I use, instead?
I was wondering the same
Let me know if you had figured it out! Thank you!!
@@mandybuehler9471 so far, I didn't 🤣
Song?
It’s something a friend wrote for me.
THE GIRL. ES VERY VERY BEATIFULLLLLLLLLL
I can't believe that woman spend so much time on their hair in 1940...if i need to hair style like that everr single day...i would probably choose the Geisha sleeping cousin.

Am not 3 minutes in and am already like.. ye.. no, too much effort. I love 40's /50's style but I am a VERY low maintenance type person and this is far too much effort to put in my hair.
