  • How to achieve a 1940s continuous roll hairstyle using a series of victory rolls! The continuous roll was a hairstyle popular in the 1940s. During WWII, while so many young men were off fighting, women had to step into physical jobs. For safety reasons, these jobs had a lot of requirements about how women wore their hair. This meant they needed to wear their hair up away from moving machinery.
This new way of life for women led them to come up with creative ways to put their up. The continuous roll was one of these creative options. When styled properly, a continuous roll looks like 1 round element that travels around the entire hairline.
This tutorial shows how to connect 2 identical victory rolls to look like 1 continuous roll. If you style a few of these around your head and connect them, you can get a beautiful vintage effect.

That is so easy looking! I always thought this was a complicated style & have never seen a tutorial on it & certainly never tried it myself. I also never knew about closing the end of the roll & thought that must be hard too. Omg mind blown! Thank you!

I just want to say Thank You for the roll and go tool. My daughter is in the band color guard at her high school. The band director choose victory rolls as the hair style. They are not as easy as they look, so getting 30 girls hair together in 45 min or less was a chore. I ordered the tool. Now we fly through the hair and the girls hair looks amazing, it would have never been possible without your tool. THANK YOU so very much.

Wonderful tutorial and Im getting the tool today. However, it would be more helpful to see a model doing this style on her own hair. Its completely different when doing it on someone as opposed to doing it on your own head.

Hi, I actually do a sort of faux version of this hairstyle. For the front and sides of the hair I do not roll it. I do the twist and push and some times I'll prep my hair with a little bit of pomade, comb up nice and tall to smooth out any splits. Oh and pin in place without any back combing. And I'll even style my hair like this when damp even though I have thin slightly wavy hair.

Would it be possible to do a French twist or another vintage roll with this method? I love my hair curly but I work in a spa and have steam in my face all day. If I do a wet set overnight it’s sure to be ruined by the time I actually get off work, and if I want to go on a date or out with friends. I’m trying to find a style that will curl my hair, and look pretty taken down, but still look put together for the day.

Am not 3 minutes in and am already like.. ye.. no, too much effort. I love 40's /50's style but I am a VERY low maintenance type person and this is far too much effort to put in my hair.
