as a father of two doublebass players (one of 21 years old, in university now, one of 11 years old, fighting with Farkas) me and my daughters found your job always inspiring.. thanks for share! :)
That is so sweet of you to say, thank you! Best of luck to your two bass players! If there's anything I can do to help please let me know :)
This is a beautiful performance of an amazing piece!!
I am not a bassist, but I clearly remember my very first day as a freshman at Ithaca College in 2007, when we had Francois Rabbath in as a guest artist. I went to his concert, which was amazing, of course, and included four or five encores (The recital ended up being over two hours long). This was the final piece he played, and I was so stricken by how meditative, but raw it is. Fresh out of high school, I hadn't heard music performed at such a high level too often, and I remember being so ridiculously inspired walking out of the concert hall. So cool to finally hear it again!
hum c'est bon ça. Je viens de voir en petit concert privé François Rabbath chez mon luthier, c'étais un régal aussi et vous me rappeler ce bon moment ! Merci Lauren...
Nice choice of repertoire, my current bass teacher was one of Rabbath's students and we both agree that this was played beautifully. So simple but elegant at the same time.
Vedic enchantment. Liked change of pace at 2:52. I 'heard' this with hand drums, voice, and flute.
you are a great musician ! aguante Rabbath!
This is absolutely great, Lauren!
Really good, I like how the left hand pizzicato works with the pedal note, it is just fantastic.
Cool!!! The end blew me away!

Rabbath is the Way!!
I have fallen in love with this piece thanks to you. I've been playing bass for 9 years. Where would you recommend I start to get into this style and genre?
Bass goddess
I hope Australia is treating you well!
I play the double bass for a year and I still can't play well my hands gets too tired
any advice please ?💕
Nice work, great playing! - Just one thought - does it say sans vibrato with regards the 1 st slower section? I was thinking that just a touch may have given it a little more colour, made it a little more expressive. But that's just a personal preference.
Thanks so much! I'm very choosy with where I place my vibrato and what kind of vibrato I use. Personally, I felt any kind of vibrato would take away from the expression and musical image I was painting, instead of adding anything.
But you're totally right - it's all personal preference :)
Another part of me says shut up it works fine as it is ! LOL I'll just have to listen to it again - it's very Miles Davis to play without the vib and It does work well that way. Can we look forward to some more Francois Rabbath? Please? :-)
I'll see what I can do ;)
Does anyone know what “Poucha Dass” means? Just curious, thanks.
Where can I find this score?
I wasn’t sure at the start of this piece. It does seem to have Indian music overtones. The farther into it - it grabs you...
Holy guacamole!
Did anyone notice how Sun followed her play?
:D:D
I find it funny that there is no stool for the Rabbath piece.
Yep! I wanted to try something new :)
+Lauren Pierce it was very well executed anyway.
this should be orchestral tuning
I thought the strings were going to start smoking!
Ha! Thanks so much Chuck. Great videos, by the way :)
+Lauren Pierce Thank you! Let's make a video if you ever come through Northern California...
I would absolutely love that. Shoot me an email and let's see if we can make it happen :) laurenpiercebass@gmail.com
I’m just here for all the thirsty comments.

I think you should attempt to play Indian Music - either Hindustani or Carnatic Music. I remember I posted
this comment earlier after listening to your playing!
