    I thought it would be a cool idea to record each tournament you play at and create a 'speed of court' list to then go over at the end of the year. Many people who don't play on a variety of courts, let alone different hard court varieties, appreciate the speed of the courts. Seems like the Australian open courts are playing super quick and skiddy, be interesting to hear if they're faster than Miami, IW, Shanghai, US open, etc.

    What an amazing court think the camera angle and emptiness actually captures the scale of it so well. Would love to hear about your new natural gut hybrid! (15:00). Looks like you guys are both rocking the new Vcores and I'm sure there's a good number of viewers who would appreciate a setup breakdown. Huge fan from Korea, cheers!

    I love my Natural Gut setup. ‘18 vcore 95 weighted. Natural in mains and Alu rough in crosses. Its a little more expensive but with the hybrid setups you get 2 stringings. I get about 20hrs of play and they are great all the way to when they break.

    Yes, please do expand on the prevalence of natural gut for cross strings. Also, a review on the new VCores when possible. There seems to be a lot of buzz about it and T Paul is having immediate success with it. The head shape seems pretty different from the previous versions.

    I'm playing with a hybrid setup for years now, love to hear your take on natural gut, I'm never going back to full poly 😂😂.
    You didn't have to adjust to the fact that the court is way bigger behind the baseline? I liked that a lot when I played on a bigger court.

      What's your hybrid set up? How long does it last? I'm still at full poly, "soft" one, I like it, after 5-6 hrs ball flies everywhere, even with my 18x20 pattern.

      I have signum pro tornado in mains, luxilon big banger in crosses. I play with the Yonex vcore pro 97. It usually takes about 6 hours approx when I cut it out. I have never broken a string since I went for the Hybrid setup. Don't know if that's because of the Yonex frame, u used to eat strings when I played with head and Wilson years ago
      But I cut it out when my mains start to move around a lot.

    I don't know about you Karue, but at least I feel as a rec player that natural gut feels AMAZING right after it gets strung for the first 2 sessions of playing. But once it gets a little worn it starts launching the ball unpredictably. On a full bed of poly, strings from a couple sessions get looser and still grip the ball well, and still act relatively predictable. But it feels like on a poly/natty gut hybrid it rebounds the ball before it can really grab onto it once the strings get worn in. Making it feel really unpredictable and straight up frustrating when you're not hitting a heavy topspin shot and you need to put a slider or dropshot somewhere. Even on a typical groundstroke, I feel that the amount of topspin I get changes from the exact same shot I make from the hybrid setup after it gets a little worn in.
    Oh and you said it at 16:20 ! "sometimes you get those flyers" , that's exactly what I'm talking about. You're doing a typical forehand just like you always do, and for some reason the strings didn't grip into it enough to give you the same topspin for a shot you've done millions of times.
    I think I played like 5 or 6 hours with it before it got really frustrating. With how you're hitting, it probably falls off after 3 or 4. And God forbid you try to practice flat serves for a half hour to an hour then expect to play a match with them. They're gone after that haha.
    Unless you constantly have time to get a fresh bed constantly I wouldn't recommend it. But definitely curious what your thoughts are.

  • @innocentbystander6
    @innocentbystander6 2 роки тому

    I’m taking this unique circumstance as a tennis fan who can actually engage with a pro’s coach to make a few observations that could hopefully be useful in your coaching to Marcus:
    He needs better second serve placement (i.e. corners like his first serve) because it feels like his opponents aren’t having a hard time returning them.
    He can’t seem to push his opponents out wider and wider in a backhand vs backhand (crosscourt) rally to setup the inside-in forehand down the line weapon. His default backhand reply against strong shots is short and near the middle which keeps him on defense.
    He needs to improve on his backhand return against really good servers in the deuce court so that he can have a better chance of staying in the point.
    And lastly, I think he needs to be more positive in tough moments. His body language doesn’t reflect this.
    If you re-watch his practice with Taylor Fritz from a year ago, it's clear that Taylor was dominating because of his serve, shot depth, and movement. Marcus was almost always on the defensive and rarely got to dictate, much less impose his game.

    Not sure if it's because Daniil's just way too fast, but a lot of Marcos's supposedly finishing shots are just like sitting there, and kinda lack a bit of oomph (from the TV broadcasting angle, they look pretty heavy here, lol), especially when he hits with a close or neutral stance on both sides.

    • @elchanclascocina
      @elchanclascocina 2 роки тому

      Felt exactly the same when I watched the match, like Marcos "lacked" plow through, compared to Daniil. Karue does say they went more for consistency vs power though.

    • @viktorbenedek868
      @viktorbenedek868 2 роки тому

      Yes, Marcos definitely need more power. An other racket or looser string setup.

    • @Karue-Sell
      @Karue-Sell  2 роки тому +3

      he doesn’t need more power. The fact people suggest that again tells me that watching tennis on TV is so deceiving. It is impossible to tell what is really happening. We played in conditions that the ball was slow through the air (colder at night) and fast low bouncing courts. Which meant that to really rip through the court you need to pull the trigger on a very flat, deep and low shot from meddy. That is a recipe for disaster. Yes he could have gone for more, but it is not his racket that is the issue. He is already switched from full poly to hybrid natural gut for more easy power.

    • @elchanclascocina
      @elchanclascocina 2 роки тому

      @@Karue-Sell Thanks for replying. My thoughts during the match were, he does have a plan and is looking to execute it. Yes, it felt slow, but as you say, it is deceiving. I watched live Schwartzman and Jaume Munar training and it felt so fast, but in the video I filmed doesn't look like that. I was also thinking, in that last practice set they uploaded in LA, it felt like they were smacking the crap out of those balls, so he definitely has that power. Conditions may make it different. Anyways, thanks again and much success going forward. It's a journey, hope it starts clicking what you are working, like Brad Gilbert with Agass,i soon; trust the process. Saludos!

    Court sucks from a spectator perspective. The way Djokovic and Nadal both complained about the time clock given how long a walk it is to the towel explains why. There is so much space from the courtside seats to the courts. It’s even (much) worse than Ashe which has a similar issue but doesn’t have that huge space between the seats and those sidelines on-court barriers. Also the “bowl’ design blows, it places fans up and away. IMO, the best courts put the spectators as close to the players and as close to court level as possible.
