- Australian Open 2022 vlog with RAAF Roulettes air display, Medvedev vs Auger-Aliassime in Rod Laver Arena, private hospitality, and our experience at the Tennis Grand Slam in Australia.
The Felix Auger-Aliassime v Daniil Medvedev game was incredible, a real priviledge to watch. We also saw Ash Barty and Pat Rafter and ate at Penfolds Bistro in Melbourne Park.
Thanks also to Marriott Bonvoy for having us in your hospitality lounge. This video is not sponsored nor did Marriott Bonvoy know we would be filming in there, but we're very grateful for the air conditioning and drinks (and snacks, we had quite a few snacks).

I was driving in-bound on Eastlink when that squad was flying around the city. Got off and had to park and watch them from a distance - was great! Keep up the content. These vlogs are great away from aircraft content as your videography/story/narrative you do is always worth the watch!🛩📽🎾
As a cirrus driver and a tennis player this may be one of my favorite videos so far. (Not really I like flying a lot). It was really cool to see the inside and inter workings of the AO. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the tennis Stef, I have been watching from my lounge room here in Sydney. Thanks for the Vlog.
It's been a great tournament so far, thanks for watching Giuseppe.
@@StefanDrury thanks for the reply, never miss an upload.
Our Canadians boys had epic 5 set matches...maybe next year. Thanks for showing this video Stef.
Love these types of videos. Glad you both enjoyed the day. Can’t wait to come visit my friends in Australia. Cheers 🥂
Loved it Stef, many thanks to you and your amazing partner for sharing, special.
What a Banger!!!! Your videos always put me a in a good mood. You have a good attitude man! Also your wife is lovely.
Great video! For a non tennis fan, you sure looked at home at the Open 😄
The restaurants looked like cool refuges on such a warm day 😅
Hope you're able to make a video at this year's AO 🎾💙🩵 ... Thanks for sharing your fun day at the tennis, and plane spotting, with us! 😊🤍🎾🌟
Managed to snag a couple of seats for Ash Barty's final tonight.
Taking me to 3 separate trips up to Melbourne for the Open just this year. I am beyond excited.
Glad you enjoyed the day out Stef!
Stefan, Great work representing a day out in Melbourne for the open. Two videos in a row that made me a bit homesick for Australia. The first time my wife and I went to the open was in 2007. I remember it got up to 39 degrees that day. It's only 1 degree here in North Carolina and the predictions are for snow tomorrow.....the third weekend in a row for snow.
What a great day out! Great vid Stef.
Daamn you saw that incredible quarter final live?? Lucky you :) Great video, thanks!
Glad to see someone enjoying summer
I live in inverloch Victoria and few months back the roulettes put on a fabulous show for us when they were practicing just off the coast and up the inlet. They were fantastic.
Another excellent little "pastille" (pardon my french) from you and from the other side of the Earth and its so beautiful Australia. It feels so great to see and feel some summer heat wave when Europe is diving deeper into the grey...
Nice sound by the pc-21s hope you enjoyed the Australian open stay well stef
Thanks Down Under, yeah they make a great sound hey?
Certainly
Hey stef how’d you get VH-EYZ on msfs
Thanks Steph I always wondered what it was like there and great to see the Bodacious Boss along with you.
Great to see you spend time with the wife and sharing some experiences together.
Glad you enjoyed your day at the tennis mate. I’ve been working transporting the players in coaches between their accommodation, airport as well as all over Victoria. At this stage I’ve seen at least 150 Kia vehicles driving around and parked up at the tennis centre. Keep up the great content 😁
That moment when you go from watching one of your favourite aviation UA-camrs to seeing family. Hey Andrew!
I'm from Geelong too!
Boy the storms tonight was full on, you've copped it by now I reckon....
Love the channel thanks!
Good mix up. Roulettes always on point 👌
Cheers Matthew, love the Roulettes.
I love tennis and planes! perfect video!!
Great way of hydrating 😂👍
Also: nice hat your friend/partner was wearing, looks awesome on her
Great vid Stef!
Really looking forward to my first trip to Melbourne in 2 and a half years next month.
Starting flight training with CAE Oxford at Moorabbin airport in a month’s time, hope to see you around the airport or on the radio at some point in the coming years!
Went there too Stef, saw Nadal play. Thanks for interesting video!
What a fun adventure to watch from a winter time USA. I think it going to get up to 10°F here today 😆 Thanks for bringing us along and glad you guys had a great time.
Great video Stef, have to say that Jacque's hair suits her at the longer length!
interested in what equipment you used to shoot this one Stef? allowed in the AO? great vlog as always
Thanks James, all shot on a Sony ZV-1. I think there are rules about larger cameras with removable lenses etc but I had no issues filming on a compact camera.
The best part about any sporting event is the airplane fly overs !!!!!
Great video mate. Felt like I was there…
Nice Vid Stef!
Cheers Pietro
great video stef
Awesome video, love Jaqi’s hat. 😎 🇬🇷
Everywhere we go she gets compliments on that hat - the security guard at the Open mentioned it before we even got in. Thanks for watching Andrew.
Good on you guys for the way you dealt with Jokavich!
It was a disgrace
@@nickm8355 yep, he should never have been allowed in at all.
Who is jokavich?
@@aminfozdar the joka that thought Covid rules didn't apply to him!
Hi Just want to ask is that game the night session? What time did it start and finish? Hoping someone can answer because i am buying a ticket for the first time and I am wondering what to get, the day or night session? Thanks!
Hello, yes this was the night session. They usually start around 6/6.30pm at the Aus Open.
YAY Go Canada!!!! Soo close
That match was well worth staying up till 12:30 to watch
it was a long night but yeah such a good one to watch live. Very lucky to be there.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. I enjoy your videos. I like your style. To me you are the Casey Neistat of everything aviation. Great work keep it up!
where/how do you find music for your videos ?
The best of my two interests
Omg i DIDNT see you!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF i was a Ballkid and there every day ahahahaha, would’ve been the best
I see the roulettes practicing on flightradar24 a bit down near East Sale.
Yeah it’s fun flying around that area and hearing them on the radio. Thanks Glenn.
Good thing you don't live in Perth, Stef. It's often over 40 here in summer!
But that Freemantle Doctor around 4pm is so nice. I miss WA, hope to get back over there again soon.
We've just had the F35's flying over Sdyney Harbour for Australia Day - I think their fuel bill is paid in decibels - and it's very high!
Great video - your vlogs are stylish and entertaining. I’m a lover of tennis and the Australian open - we are very fortunate to have one of the four grand slams in the world in Melbourne - and the city really puts on a show, the facilities we have now are also top notch.
Did you have a ground pass during the day and a seperate ticket for Rod Laver arena in the evening? What time did that match finish? Would have been an extremely long day!! 🎾
Thanks Jason, yes we had a Ground Pass for the day then tickets for dinner and RLA. So we got there at 1pm and left at 1am. Yep a loooong day, but a fun one.
I’ve just been watching Dylan In the wheelchair contest and I don’t know why , but wondering whether you would be at the tennis . Now I know . Hope you and Jaq had a good time , it appears so 👍
He’s such a great ambassador for the sport and I’m so happy he got Australian of the Year as well. Thanks for watching David.
And here I am,attending online classes.
Nice to see some quality with sport. Nevertheless this year hasn't gone without covid-19 protection measures.
Service in the Law courts and tennis courts.
🎾📖
You need to include your beautiful best half in more of your videos!❤️👍🏻😁
@4:13 No Problems.
That’s a lot of KIA cars ( You means Fords / Hyundai right ;) )
I bought tickets to Saturday this morning. I did NOT know id be seeing Ash AND the Special K's! I'm so keen :)
On another note, it's a shame we wont be getting any displays at the F1 anymore... Hasn't been cancelled yet but was speaking to one of the roulettes today and they are waiting for the call :(
Keep hydrated. Alcohol and heat don't mix. You need water.
Great video as always Stef. Thanks to a recommendation this morning (Central European Time) I found out that there is an Air Museum at Moorabbin. The video covered the last engine run of the Beaufighter in 1983. This is the link: ua-cam.com/video/FTl7ZsM3Fvo/v-deo.html. Do not expect too much as far as quality is cocerned. Do you think the museum might be a nice subject for a future video?
i saw the RAAF planes too
Hope you enjoyed the display
Didn’t you say you where born in England in another video? It’d make sense why your complaining about how hot it is haha
Yeah grew up in the UK, that’s why I like Melbourne - it’s like an English Autumn for 10 months of the year.
It's a sweltering 12 degrees in the UK at the moment.
@@colinpotter7764 still too hot. But 11 degrees c is too cold
So the pandemic doesn't exist in tennis?
Nice Video Stef! Looked Hot!
Yeah was a hot one, lucky we had access to that air conditioning. Thanks JB.
What a joke...one day a year above 30 C a year !!!!!!!. Get out more mate, Melbourne summers average 30 days over 30 C
4th comment!😂
