I can really relate to the loss of a young mother, mine was 40 and I got the privilege to take care of her for the last 6 month to her final last breath in October 9 1980 on a beautiful sunny fall day in Örebro Sweden. She was one of two terminal cancer patientens at a newborn ward with 16 newborns amazing contrast life and death in the corridors. Thank you (and your wife) for sharing your music to us all. You guys are amazing, will be seeing and listen to you again when you come back to City of Angeles
I have been a fan for a couple of years now. This is the first time I have heard Late September. Beautiful song Andrew. My mom died when I was 23 ... The Last time I saw/ hugged her was on my wedding day when I was 22. She died in early October also, and though I love the fall my heart is often sad and I can be hard on those I love at this time of year. When I went home for her funeral, I cried so hard my ribs hurt. 41 years later, 4 adult children of my own, I still sometimes miss her. One of my lifetime favorite lyrics is one you wrote. Loss has no end, it binds to our connection...... So brilliant.. so helpful...healing .I love what you guys do. Thanks so much. Love you guys with the band. Stay well please and please keep at it.
That's so beautiful Michael, thank you for sharing that, your comment has really moved me. Those same lyrics feel very special to me too and will always ring absolutely true. Andrew is a wonderful poet who has a beautiful and powerful way with words.
My wife found you and bought your albums for our Southern road trip 4 years ago (Georgia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, and back to Georgia) 2900 miles and I can’t think of better music driven over Blue Ridge Mountain at Thanksgiving time avoiding all the Turkey’s on the mountain roads
I agree with all the comments who praise the band - but I I also want to say I really liked the interviewer - a lot of understanding and nice questions.
What a treasure Mandolin Orange is for all of us! The top notch song writing, and the incomparable vibe that they put out! Also kudos to the interviewer for asking some tasteful, insightful questions that add value to this video.
@@carlosm.devasconcelllos3939 That's pretty funny. I hope it's so. It helps that he has a partner who helps his heart. All the best to the both of them. Well, and the rest of the band. But, what is it like to be in a band and hear those harmonies? Mercy. A troup that fell together luckily. I'm just making this up, cause it sounds nice. I sure like a lot of the tunes. I like the vid at the park.
One of the best version of The Wolves I have heard. Josh really nailed it too. The understated but solid backing from the band all the way through this video is outstanding. Thanks.
So nice to see these wonderful folks again!! Congrats on the birth of your baby Emily and Andrew. The sound with the band just keeps getting better. I am a grand dad of several youngsters, the youngest is 5 months. So wonderful and also exhausting. Stay well. Loving the new songs
Cool, Beautiful. 100% amazing the whole stuff i listened from these kids so far ! "Loss has no end"...Andrew approaches this subject with surprising sweetness and courage, and the loss of mine, despite the three years that are gone, is still so latent that tears hinder my typing ...!
totally hilarious that the guy who seems to be kinda cocky doesn't get their name?! The look on Emilys face when Andrew is like "nothin' rimes with it"!!! Priceless. Excellent as always guys _/|\_
I think this is my favorite instrumentation combonation - all acoustic with the scratch of those brushes on the snare and the warm, woody throat of that upright bass... nice.
im so greatful to find your poetry music many years ago ....you truly have be come one of my top 3 fav .....i love every thing you do ....sounds of heaven to me ... thank you for your love of music from your brother from Maine
Love these guys, found them on UA-cam few years ago and fell in love with their music. Saw their live show last night in St. Louis. They played a good mix of old and new songs. Great night with awesome folks. Can't wait to see them again when they're in town.
To those who want to see/hear these folks live in the NE US in 2019, they'll be at GreyFox (Oak Hill NY) on Thurs 18 Jul, and Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots (Manchester VT) on Sun 18 August.
Thank you little one for letting your parents sleep enough to grace us with another performance. Would love to see live in person but your CDs will have to do. 15,13, and 9 year old never complain when your music is playing. I'm sure you will have one music loving kid there. I think we caught a glimpse of the new one at the beginning ?
I am late to discover you, but the more I listen, the more I enjoy your sound and musicianship-- so easy, smooth and relaxed, but I know it is not as easy to do as you make it seem - fun to hear you interviewed too.
They put their logo on every stand? It's a little like some sci fi thing. I love those high wasted jeans. 7:10, OMG, what a smile. These guys are so into each other that they have a secret language. Write a song about your baby.
Amazing band - love them. Beautiful songs. Wish we could just listen to them play - the interviewer here is super annoying and asks way too many intrusive questions. 15:28 is a particularly egregious example. He should get a job with the FBI!
What a great interview, and of course beautiful music from such a very talented group. Seems so strange that the interviewer didn't understand the name reference "mandarin orange" though. Andrew and Emily appeared slightly entertained by the question and neither of them looked like they could quite keep a straight face.
Does the interviewer actually not get the "Mandarin Orange" pun? No way for Andrew to deal with that question without making the interviewer look dumb. I feel like by pretending they were sharing a joke, he did his best.
@@mke2854 Well, a mandarin orange is a kind of orange. And Andrew plays the mandolin. So they called themselves Mandolin orange. I lost my twins at the age of 30. They were fraternal. They will shine like Golden Embers in the night, forever!
I was hooked from the first time I stumbled upon them. everything they've EVER made is phenomenal! EVERYTHING
I agree. I just wished I discovered them years ago.
You stole my comment?

Another great performance. Please come back to Ireland!
That's two people that are absolutely in love with one another!
Wow, listening to these guys from down under in New Zealand is a revelation - hope they come down our way, simply spellbinding...
yes I found there great sound a few months ago. would love to hear them live in NZ too.
lol. Listening from the other side of the planet from Brazil. A hug for the Down Under people.
Right up there with Gillian & David which is high praise indeed. A wonderful couple with sweet harmonies, great songwriting and picking.
Feels like home, every song, every performance.
Couldn't have been said any better. Thank you
I adore them. Emily and Andrew are SO attuned to each other in performing their wonderful music. It is really phenomenal.
Late september might be my favourite song ever

I ❤ this group. Beautiful Music!
A musical duo and band well worth remembering and to listen to, over and over and over......
I just discovered them this year, now I can't get enough
My favorite band, true heart felt lyrics and musicians beyond measure
Sweet sounds, clear vocals and a combination that always sounds so simple. Songs from the heart. Such lovely talent.
Wishing all folks well.
Andrew is going to live until he's 100. His heart rate is like, 5 beats per minute.
lol, Indeed, and AMEN..., since it's working very well.

Like an old friend, our shared grief is a comfort. A gift maybe taken for granted but never truly unappreciated. Thank you friends
I know the history behind the song. Nothing but respect
Late September .... love the lyrics and the melody ... absolutely beautiful
Andrew and that Loar deserve each other. What tone the two of them produce together!!
thats a loar? i was trying to figure out what was on the headstock. it definitely doesnt look like my the loar
@@jamesgriffin6657 it is a real Lloyd Loar from Gibson. only about 100 years old!
Right!? He's by far my biggest musical influence.
Very nice!
I absolutely love them so very much

So romantic, I find myself wanting a pair of Spainish boots in Spainish leather!
Great interview and the audio is fantastic. I loved seeing the baby in the window! Can't wait to see them again live.
Anyone else notice that Andrew sounds more relaxed recently? Parenthood, and preparing for it, tends to clear your mind.
Is that THEIR baby in the window? I guess so...

Joe Westerlin, your drumming is so tasty and adds much to this great music.
Beaautiful song and Gorgeous music. Get yer Ass over to Ireland

as usual, marvellous music and lyrics!
My original hook was Wildfire...They're songs set a mood then paint pictures in the mind...They're Muses are very wise.
love this band
Love this band so much 💜🎶
2:45 golden embers
16:38 the wolves
26:02 late september
Of course their talent is fantastic. Love Mandolin Orange. But kudos also to the studio setup and mixing. It REALLY sounds good.
I listened to one song a few days ago. I'm on about # 50 now...The only thing missing is me singing harmonies with you two. Fabulous. Stay Steady.
The feel and touch of MO is superb.
Love 'em

My mother used to say "run with the wolves, howl with the wolves!"

Yeah, the way they look at each other speaks volumes.
jeez, this is deep
100 million listens? That is great., this is a wonderful band and I love them. Too bad the check from spotify will only be like, $1.95.
Wonderful - just wonderful ♥️
Dem harmonies doe
She never has to look at that fiddle to know where to go . It's a part of her.! It's in her veins.!
Good damn they are so freaking good
BraZILLLLLL
Turn up her mic a wee bit. Their harmonies are magic. Thx
Superb, thank you.
Note to youtube...putting 2 separate ads in the middle of a great song makes me less likely to buy a product!
Space is the final frontier ......
Amazing band - love them. Beautiful songs. Wish we could just listen to them play - the interviewer here is super annoying and asks way too many intrusive questions. 15:28 is a particularly egregious example. He should get a job with the FBI!
Agreed on all, love how he couldn't understand the band name and how they very subtly laughed at him as a group:)
Good interview. Just wish the camera shots had been a little more intuitive. Hardly any close ups of Josh Oliver's stellar guitar work.
Andrew looks so uncomfortable...like take the songs as they are dude don't ask me to explain...love these guys

Now I feel so stupid because that play on words had not occurred to me and wondered about the band name.
Will Ferrell on drums 🤔 😎
Looks as if he needs more cowbell!
emily!! you are MO and WHHS?!
Great performance. 2 things: 1. 20:35 Mandolin Orange / Mandarin Orange (dumbass) 2. Watching the drummer reminds me of Wil Ferrell doing the "more cowbell" sketch.
What acoustic guitars and mandolin are you all using?
Why they change their name?
Mandolin/mandarin cheeseNrice
Dude !!!!!!! You are the worst interview of the best band ever.

Why Mandolin Orange??? Hmmm, maybe because it sounds a lot like Mandarin Orange???
Will Ferrell on the drums
Great show, but the camera man or video mixer missed every break.
what bitter souls disliked this video?
It’s a weird feeling to watch a band play and the notice that you know someone in that band.....
Will Ferrell on the drums.

Peanut butter and honey.

has the interviewer never heard of a mandarin orange???
