Why We Had to Release These Salmon & How We Built a Smoker 100% Free

- The salmon are coming and we are rushing to not miss it! We did think that more would be here when this video began than we actually caught/saw. But it was good motivation to get the smoker built so that we wouldn't be panicking at midnight in a week to get it done.
We did catch a few King salmon that are very strictly to be released before even being removed from the water in our area! But nothing that we can keep yet.
No matter which way you slice it, fishing is always fun and we were glad to be able to put this smoker together with just materials laying around the property.
Stay tuned for the video where we get to actually use this bad boy!

Never be afraid of saying you don’t know…none of us knows until we know. Love the channel!
Thank you! We definitely don't know a ton yet but are enjoying learning more everyday!
I absolutely think your channel is awesome you find some channels that's only 6 or 7 minutes long I love yours it's long it shows everything you're doing keep at the good work can't wait to see the baby when it's born always believe in your children until they give you a reason not to and love them and they'll Always Love You Back
Thank you so much! We are very excited to be starting a family. I have also found people like the longer videos so we will keep them coming.
I hope that new smoker gets filled up soon 😊
We caught six sockeye salmon the other day! Video is incoming. :)
Always a great day when I can watch your videos, you have such a refreshing approach to your videos, life as it is, yet entertaining and “ real” ..look forward to your one.
That means so much to us, thank you!!!
Thanks!
They will be great for a while yet, I’ve smoked salmon for 50 years and the silvers are just showing up, you’ll have great fishing for a while and it’s gonna get better everyday, I built my own also and that tin won’t hurt you, you won’t get it that hot, Good luck
Thank you! I bet we could learn a thing or two about smoking from someone like you. We are slowly figuring it all out!
@@beccanlevisalaska oh I do have an amazing recipe, not like the traditional salt cure, it’s more like candy lol, I know you guys would love it
Yall are doing great. Really like your videos.
Thank you so much!
Looks like some chum or dog salmon too
Try vanilla extract and olive oil water mix in spray bottle for mosquitoes.. it works here in FL and smells good too.
Awesome to know! Luckily they have died way down the past few weeks but man June was like a war zone.
i love that smoker idea
It has worked pretty well! Free since we had the materials so that's always a bonus.
Your videos are getting better and better, congratulation on 1,25k subscribers. no birch for smoker don't ask me how I know that. alder, willow or cottonwood preferable dead and dry wood after fire going then add dry wood water soaked for it will smoke more
Thank you! We keep trying to improve the videos so I am glad it's showing a bit. We did smoke some pinks with birch but aren't super optimistic on how it will turn out. We just got some sockeyes on the Kenai and specifically did alder. That video will be coming soon, it was so fun!
Loved this video! So tempting to grab the line when landing, but your Grandpa Leonard says don't do that. Winter activity... making nets
Yeah the guys "lined" me out on grabbing my line, haha! Live and learn. I'd love to make some nets, that would be so cool!
I've been to Alaska several times and the salmon were running so much that it looked like you could walk across the creek on them and not get your feet wet! Thank you for sharing your journey! You are doing a great job on the videos 👍
I can't wait to see that someday! Thank you so much for watching!!
Nice free smoker!
Try files for pinks and silvers too, green or pink
Silvers should be coming up our creek any day!
@@beccanlevisalaska yes I usually catch mine starting around the 15th on an early year but by the 18th or 20th, those are fun catching
How did it work?
And did you get any canned?
It be fun to see thatbon video and eating them. Yummy
We did get some pinks and reds canned! We haven't tried any of it yet because I don't trust my nausea still with the strong smell and being pregnant.
Where are your nets?
