  • Today, we enjoy the beginning of the monsoon season and are continuing to learn how we can use the resources around us!
We went out looking for rosehips and yarrow but came back with yarrow, some clover, and dead alder for the smoker. The dogs had a fun run in the rain and we checked for silver salmon under the bridge up the road.
While we continue to watch the clock for winter to arrive, join us for a chat on future plans and what we're learning in Alaska at the moment!
As always! THANK YOU, VIEWERS. We could not do this without so much support and positive energy from everyone watching.
⚠️ The use of herbs is at the viewer's discretion. We are not giving advice on this channel. We are sharing as we learn and always accept advice in the comments! Please do not use herbs without researching them and confirming identity and safety.

Becca, love that you are learning about herbs! The yarrow is beautiful and really important to have on hand. You can dry and then powder the leaf /flower and that is awesome for bleeding issues! Stops it pretty fast. You can also make a tincture with the fresh or dried herb for internal issues, tea would work too. It can also be smoked for deep lung congestion! What this plant can do is endless. I am an herbalist and teacher for Rosemary Gladstars home study course, so if you have questions you can message me. The clover you have heard about is actually Red clover( flower dark pink) that is good for lymph drainage and anti tumor. The one you picked is a white clover I believe. Hope this helps?

Check the moisture level on your pepper plant. All the other stuff likes a wet soil but peppers are a bit more moderate. In rainy spring curled yellowing leaves has been too wet of soil in my experience so worth a check. Just lift the bucket to see how heavy it is and you'll know.
Also googled because I was pretty sure you're a bit early early. Rose hips are usually harvested in fall after the first light frost.
Try cling wrap under the lid to separate the vinegar from the metal.

Yarrow as a coagulant in wounds works really well. I stopped the bleeding in my neighbors bad dog bite wounds and it worked within minutes!

This is so cool to hear, that's exactly why I'm drying it! I wish I had gotten more but I guess some is better than none.

@@beccanlevisalaska hopefully you won’t need it! It’s good in a tea when you have respiratory symptoms too. Mullen is a good one to to have on hand during the sniffles. I have lots of books on the uses of herbal remedies.

Good evening pretty lady! Yikes you had a lot of mosquito's on your face! Maybe you can find some plants to dry and make some type of repellent out of!

The mosquitoes are evil! I have a list of plants to try next year but sometimes the mosquito net has to come out anyways. 🤣
