Al Anderson...totally, completely underrated as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. Saw him in the 60s and followed his career. Great, great, GREAT talent. Love his work.
Watch Al knock this great rockabily performance out of the park and then realize that he is a humble guy as well. He once said of Steve Ferguson who he replaced in NRBQ, "Fergie could do things that I can't touch" and he organized and headlined a benefit for Steve when he was dying of cancer. A humble guy who cares about others; that makes listening to his music even more enjoyable for me.
Growing up as a fellow musician in the town of Windsor, Ct Al and the Wildweeds to this day are an inspiration to all of the cats in town that started in the music business from back in the day. I had the good fortune in my early bands to open before and after the release of No Good To Cry. The Big Man's talent never disappoints and from way back in the day I knew that he was going to make an impact in the music industry as a performer and song writer. From the Visuals ,Altones , Six Packs, Wildweeds & NRBQ he was not going to be denied. See you at The Infinity in Hartford on 12/28!!!!
Without a doubt, Big Al lives up to his name in the music industry and has made CT proud. Saw his show at the Hartford Infinity Hall on 12/28 and it rocked! Doug - you're so lucky to have grown up with him back in the days when it all started.
This song is so BAD ASS I keep coming back to it. What an amazing sound from each instrument. The drum mix is perfect, the slide is out of sight, Al's Tele is COOKING, the lady is cool as ice and a great singer. Everything about this song and production is the ABSOLUTE FINEST I've heard and seen in a Loooonggg time. If you like the mix too, check out NRBQ's "Ain't it Alright" live at Fitzgerald. Terry, Scott and the boys did a killer job and the mix is also OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thanks again BIG AL and the HEADLINERS. Johnny Spampinato, Joey's brother, is playing guitar along with Aaron Spade on the other side of the stage. Chandler Travis is playing bass. Rikki Bates on drums. Forgive me for stating the obvious.
