Sounded like the hi hats were panned more to the right, but you panned them to the left. I'm listening with headphones.

I think it's time you re-released this video. This time could you, if you do it, give some explanation of the levels you are choosing for each drum instrument. I know people mix with their ears but i can't. I suffer with tinnitus where my right ear only hears low and low mids. My left ear hears a full spectrum but i am about 50% deaf in my right ear. Everything on my right side sounds louder despite my imbalance (low frequency pressure on my inner ear). This confuses the bejesus out of me and as i grow older i find myself having to mix more with my eyes than with my ears.

I have a friend, Grammy nominated that is completely deaf in one ear after a weird nerve infection.
He’s still a great mixer and moves his head left and right like Stevie Wonder!😀

Hey! I am so sorry for my delayed response! Thank you so much for comment! I'm so sorry to hear about your hearing difficulties, but trust me, your career doesn't have to be put on the back burner or suffer because of this! In your case, there are loads of tools that you can use with your eyes that will allow you to see the balance of the speakers -like Waves PAS Analyzer. This will show you a real-time visual representation of your audio’s stereo positioning! Meaning you'll be able to tell if one side is louder/has more information than the other side.
Another thing you can do is learn how your room FEELS when you’re listening to music. Spend a few hours each day for the next few weeks and just listen to professionally released music - like Dua Lipa “Don’t Start Now”, Katy Perry's “Never Really Over” and whatever songs you feel have a great mix. When you’re ‘listening’ to these, I want you to focus more on how the sounds FEELS to your body when it’s coming out of the monitors.
How does the kick drum feel? How does the bass feel? What's the snare drum feel like - does it have a weight/heavy thud to it or not? But don’t stop there - walk around the room. Stand outside of the room and listen, walk to the back of the room and start to learn how the music feels - that’s what it’s about anyway when we listen to music. How it feels and moves us - that’s why we dance to it!
On just about every mix, I walk into the live room from the control room and listen to my mix from where the vocal booth is. Or I’ll go to the back right corner of my studio and listen there to see how much the bass is blasting the back wall - I know that in a great mix, there isn’t too much buildup so when I listen to my mix, I can feel that there’s too much bass in the track!
You can do the same thing with bringing your mixes to the car as well. How does the kick drum and bass feel when you’re sitting in the car, etc?
You can also just plug one ear when you’re listening to your mix and start training your better ear on listening by itself. Turn your head towards the speakers so your bad ear is facing away from them and then plug it with a good earplug or your finger!
I hope this helps in your stages of bettering your mixes!!!

@@GrimaldiSound Thanks so much for your reply. Very detailed and very kind. Some of your suggestions i practice already, using one ear, moving round the room etc. I will check out the Waves plugin. PS - you should do that video again as per my original comment. Cheers
