    Wow this is so cool but definitely not for a beginner to try! But I loved watching it!

      Thanks :) May I ask why you don't find the tutorial suitable for beginners? Maybe there are parts that I can show slower or more close-up?

    Your videos are excellent - timing, video, closeups, and audio = perfection. I don’t knit socks without you. :-). Eventually, I am going to try your other sock videos. Which videos do you recommend? Thanks, Hilke!

      Thank you! ♥ That depends, I have a few quicker tutorials for socks that I call bed socks. I also have some crazier patterns like the mojo socks or the ribbing socks, which are quite fun to knit! If you have a beautiful solid colored yarn you could try the braid socks. Braids are a pain in the ass but they look so wonderfull on simple yarn!

    Hello! I am confused when you say to repeat this until only the markers are left at the end of the video. Can you please explain this a little more? I am unsure how many rows to do this for? Thank you!

    • @haalu
      @haalu  8 років тому +4

      Hi :) What I mean by that is you always knit or purl the stitchj before and the stitch after the marker together. If you repeat that over and over again, there will one be the stitches between the markers left.
      In my case it it like this: 32 heel stitches in total, the three parts consist of 10, 12 and 10 stitches.
      I will knit or purl stitches together a total amount of 20 times (10 times per side), and after that only the 12 stitches of the middle part will be left. Does that help?

      I see! I understand now, thank you very much for your quick and detailed response :)

    what do i do differently if the heel hangs down and is too thin on the sole part?

  • @yudelkabrown5849

    for short rows wouldnt it be more ideal and attractive to do a wrap and turn instead of a knit or purl 2tog?

    • @haalu
      @haalu  7 років тому

      I actually have never used wrap and turn for my short rows, but for what I see that only works for short row heels and not for the square heel (which I am showing here). Obviously you can knit the heel the way that you prefer it, I only show one way to do it. I also have videos on the boomerang heel (short row heel) and other heel flap methods :)

    so you knit one row then second u knit 2 stigtches and purl the rest then in third row u knit all of them then in fourth row
    u knit the first two stitches again the purl the rest ...so u do that until im done ?

    • @haalu
      @haalu  7 років тому

      You mean for the heel flap? Then yes, except that you also knit the last two stitches of the purl rows, not just the first two :) The two knit stitches will make little knots and you want those knots to be on both sides of the flap.

    Thanks so much for liking my first knitted sock post on Instagram! I am following you after seeing your beautiful socks... so happy you have these video tutorials... thanks for making them! If a person has large feet, lol, how many would you cast on? I'm an 11. Or do I just measure my foot as I go.

    • @haalu
      @haalu  7 років тому +1

      Hi Sandy! Thank you! :) Sorry for the late answer! Hm I would probably try to cast on 17 stitches per needle and then try the sock on right after the cuff to see if it fits. The number of stitches also depends on which yarn and neeldes you are using so if 17 stitches feel a bit tight you could try to use 2.75 mm needles instead of 2.5 mm or so.

      haalu Thank you! I kept following the pattern and it seems like it'll be a good fit. Beginners anxiety! I figured out how to turn the heel and I'm in my way to a finished sock! Yay! Will post on Instagram...

    Good video, pity I can't knit without dropping a stitch at the crucial point and unable to pick it up. 4 times now I've unravelled the whole sock, used 2 balls of wool just to throw it away. I 'm obviously the most stupid person on the pkanet.

      oh no! maybe it's just not the right type of heel for you. or maybe first try a sock without a heel?
