    I’ve been looking at several German short row heel videos and yours is the best I’ve come across as a beginner. You just explain well without filling in with chit chat. You also give really clear visuals, especially with the black background and white contrasting yarn. Thank you so much!

    Thank you so much for your clear and knowledgeable tutorial! When you said, “At this point, we can drop the marker,” my stomach clenched into a knot, and I thought “noooo, I might need the marker?”😮 You showed me the way and I reluctantly flicked away the markers. 😅

      @@SuzanneBryan if I may ask a couple of questions - I had 20 stitches on my heel needle and the heel turn was really easy! I had 7 stitches on the outside of the markers and 6 stitches in the middle. I haven't finished the cuff yet - barely 5 rounds in so far, actually. But the heel seems somewhat pointed to my eyes at this moment. My first question is, as I progress along the leg/cuff, will that become more normal looking? My second question is, if I had chosen to do 6 stitches on the outside and 8 stitches in the middle, would that have made less of a sharp turn? Thanks in advance!

    I've knitted a lot of socks over the years, but this is the first time I tried this heel. I just knitted alongside with your video and the heel turned out absolutely perfectly. Thank you so much for the simple explanations and the visual help. It's so much easier to do it if you see it in a video than trying to decipher a written instruction.

    EXCELLENT VIDEO DEMONSTRATION EVER. Used many times without an issue or bad result. I am a beginner at making socks and this was the best of all tutorials I watched and tried. There are so many to view but none like this one. Love the extra rounds before the adding back in the stitches. I could knit heels over and over it is made so easy in the overwhelming fear in the challenge of doing this step of making socks. Thank you very much.

    Thank you. This is the best video I have ever seen on how to work the German short row heel. I have lost count of how many times I have attempted this heel. So pleased I found you on UA-cam.

      Very true, the only video that explaines how to devide the stitches. I have found other one, but the lady was not using needles to knit, but her hands. She was moving her hands so much, it was really confusing even she has explained everything very nice, but I am autistic and I just could not imagine how to do it since I hold the needles and yarn like you.

    Fantastic video. Thank you for your teaching.
    I think I've been pulling my double stitch too much. I was afraid of it slipping back.
    It looks much better the way you do it. So helpful.

    Just worked my way thru this demo and I now understand how this method of knitting a German short row heel works. I found a way to begin sock from the toe up that I understand and can do. I will now do a pair using toe up and German short row heel, using my own handspun yarn.

      Perfect! Yes, this works equally well for toe up or cuff down. Happy knitting.

    This was very helpful. I was enormously helped by your explanation to knit together the Front legs of the manipulated stich, not the back. I had been trying to work the back legs. Now I get it! Thank you so much!

    Just wanted to say thank you! I hav tried the heel flap and gusset...and then I tried a true after thought heel. But I wanted a contrasting heel that wud be finished wen I finished socks. I finished my first pair last nite with gsr ans wore them today. They fit perfect! Thanks for good clear directions. From just a girl in Texas

      Hi Suzanne have a question for you. If you don't mind. When knitting the GSR toe up how far do I knit before knitting the heel. Do I knit 2 1/4 or more, less? Thanks!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  7 років тому +1

      I generally leave about 2.25" for the heel. You could do it perfectly by measuring how long your toe is, and leaving the same amount for the heel.

    • @brendaj6777
      @brendaj6777 7 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! I did leave approximately 2.25", took a guess. Never heard of the toe trick but I'll have to check that out.
