Excellent video Dan and so Cinematic; Looked really cool and feature rich...AWESOME....Have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2021.....Looking forward to your next video's...
I really wonder how people negotiate All-i and IPB difference on UA-cam video and totally neglect heavy UA-cam compression that undertook all those video samples being compared.
Unfortunately, IPB significantly destroys the image quality vs all-i. In theory it could render better images and motion by way of interpolation, but in reality it’s a cripplehammer codec both for capture and editing.
Ah...yeah...and that proves my point even more...why would Canon make new and supposedly better cameras with worse features?....because they are not actually "bad"features...as far as I can see IPB doesn't look any worse than All-I...but that's me...maybe I'm blind! But again...there are pros and cons...for example if it's true that IPB makes the file smaller...on the other side ...when rendering it takes the same time, if not longer, than All- I....so the only reason to prefer IPB over All-I, would be to save space in the SD card. Thank you for watching!
Great comparison video! The IPB for me is definitely more grainy and not as smooth. I watched this video in 1440 and it was easy to tell the difference for me.
Hello, sir, thank you for this video, I can't decide on ALL-I vs IPB but I think I learned something different :D When you shot 1080p with the EOS R using the 10-18 EF-S lens, it automatically got the camera into crop mode, correct? Because it's a crop sensor lense. But then when you shot in 4k it looked exactly the same. And I know that the EOS R has an additional crop on the 4k video. So this crop doesn't apply anymore in 4k when using EF-S lenses? I mean, it's not like you are negating it, because it's rather adding the crop to 1080p too, than removing it from the 4k video... But my point is you get the same crop now in both 1080p and 4k video if you use EF-S lenses? Thanks!
the 4k crop on the R is 1.67x if I remember correctly... as for the use of the EF-S to RF adapter it automatically puts it into crop mode going from 31MP to 12MP...
Thank you!! I love Argentina, great game yesterday by the way. Bueno...si quieres puedes echar un vistazo al canal que acabo de abrir en español. Un saludo y vamos Argentina!
Well...I am not a Sony expert...but all i can say is that I know quite a few video makers/photographers who sold their a7 Mii and/or Miii to buy the Canon 90D or the EOS R. Thanks for watching!!!
All-i allows smooth playback in editor as processor does not have to decode each frame. So if you cut out a part of a video it can cut it and play smooth. This is why I capture to atomos my 1080p 29.98 to dnxhd 220 422 10bit even though my broadcast canon camcorder only outputs 422 8bit. On my channel you can see the quality with the recorder and k&f ND with cpl. The lens is fixed 28mm to 250mm equivalent at locked 2.8fstop. I can get 1.8fstop full out. Nice lens on my camcorder. Still floating canon eosr or 90d as second camera only for lens changing for blur and glide cam work. Thks for videos on these two canon cameras and lenses.
Thanks man, you just solved my dilemma. I've been eyeballing the R5 solely for the all-i option, as I don't need 4k/120 or 8k, 1080p/120 + eye focus cuts it for me. £1k difference is a big thing if you spend it for features you'll never use. If a client requires 8k for a job, I can simply hire an R5 for a day, otherwise will stick with the R6 and will invest some of the remainder in a decent GPU. 👊🏼😁
Yes...the difference is, in my opinion, almost imperceptible...definitely not worth it to spend the extra money to get the R5. As you said, if a client wants the job done in 8k...you can rent an R5 but, as you probably already know, won't happen often. Thank you so much for watching and have a great day!
@@DanFrullani Thank you so much! Just to reassure myself some more, I have to ask: Do you consider IPB codec good enough for shooting fitness videos, as this is primarily what I would use it for? Currently shooting 24fps/all-i c-log on Canon 5D4. My main concern is getting jittery footage, etc...
I am into sport, martial arts, fitness and bodybuilding...so I often shoot these kind of things; for slow motion sequences there's no problem at all considering that the shutter speed helps a lot...however, in real time it depends...in 24fps the footage might be a little too blurry when he subject moves very fast (not saying it looks bad or that it's unusable)....from 30fps the movements in the shot are more defined....this said, in my opinion the difference from IPB and All-I, even in these cases, is neglectable. I even shot JKD and kickboxing fights with the EOS R (using All-I) and the 90D (IPB because it doesn't have All-I)...the only difference was a better flexibility in post from the files shot on the EOS R just because of C-Log.
@@DanFrullani Brilliant, I am sold on the R6 👊🏼 Thanks a million! Really appreciate you taking the time to reply to comments, not many people do this. Just subscribed, take care and 'see you' soon! 😀

Thank you Keith! You too have a happy Christmas and a wonderful 2021!
couldnt see a big difference between IPB and ALL-I but i saw too much sharpening when u were explaining. my question is, is it easier to work All-I?

Nice one mate! Here’s a fun fact, the Canon 80d has all-I (makes you think why the 90d doesn’t?)

It looks like the All I has less jittery motion.
Thank youuuuu. We needed this video. Greetings from Argentina.

I think the lighting and the right lens will make a big difference.
what is the camera used in shooting this episode?
I used the Canon EOS R because it can shoot both all-I and IPB. Thanks for watching!
aaahhhhhh i love this and the canon 90d but I found the a7-m2 for $815 and I'm thinking the sony over the canon . will it be worth it ???

hello.thank you for all the info i ve watched a lot of your videos. is it possible to use ipb and all i in the same video ?
Sir in 760d it is given 'STANDARD ' what does it mean ....? is it better than IPB ? Lower than than IPB ? or equivalent to ALL-I codec ?
I couldn’t tell the difference.
Great content
Thank you!!!
