Thanks very much Chris. We greatly appreciate it. We're all around 5'10-6'2 and weigh roughly 160-173lbs. Cole has long legs, which you probably heard him brag about a million times. haha. Other than that, we're all pretty average dudes, in every way... haha Thanks for watching and glad you liked it.
I really enjoyed this year's shootout; dedicating a whole video for each bike in anticipation of the final video was an awesome idea. I've ridden many of the trails where you tested the bikes, so it was so cool to see you guys shredding those trails, riding those e-bikes hard. Thank you for showcasing how fun e-mountain bikes are and for your valid honest reviews. I've just purchased my first e-mtb (Specialized Turbo Levo Comp) a couple of months ago and I'm loving it!
Just let me join in the fun next time ! What a dilemma we have here so many great bikes here to chose from . Now production is another story . Happy to already own an ebike .
Except for the fact that multiple bikes we gave awards to are less expensive than some competitors in their respective categories...and we pretty clearly said, the Haro is one of the best riding bikes of the shootout.
@@_VicariousWhen's the last time you rode the exact model of bike in an entry level spec and then the top of the line spec? That's like saying a stock F-150 drives as good as a Raptor off road. haha.
"Best in Class" rankings are nice and very helpful. "Best Value in Class" (most bike for the buck) is also really important- 'value' is what ultimately determines what goes in one's garage (unless you have a black AmEx)
check out the E-mtb specific Thule T2 Pro XTR 2, I'm very pleased with the features at this price point. I own 4 other bike racks for various bikes and vehicles.
Well, it took me a while and a ton of research but I just pulled the trigger on the Trek Rail 9.7 thanks to you guys for really breaking down all the options. Seems like the Trek will be the best fit for my area, my level and style of riding. Can't wait for it to show up in December. You guys Rock!
Good review! I just wished you included "Commencal Power Meta SX Signature" it's 180/165 travel of Fox 38 /X2 which feels bottomless, great on climb/descent and jumps.
I just got my first Santa Cruz bike (a 5010 CC) about a month ago and have fallen in-love with it, so now I feel even more confident of my choice of a Santa Cruz because of the high praises of the Bullit! If or when I get some $$$ saved up, my first e-bike will either be the SC Bullit or the Trek Rail 9.9.
Just rode a Levo Carbon expert and SL . Levo Weighed in at 48lbs and SL 41lbs. 36 fork up front for both . Was surprised how Light the big dog was 48lbs is nice 👍
Of course you can't try all the bike, but I would have love to see the Focus Sam2, Scott Randsom E, Commensal Meta Power 29 and the new Norco Range VLT 29er (if they ever release it , dawmit!!), these were MY contender for this year. Also i'm curious if Giant will release their new Reign E 2021?
Hey Andre, We had plans to get several more bikes however delays in shipping, COVID etc caused some hiccups for us. We tried reaching out to Focus and Scott with no reply however. Perhaps they don't think our viewers aren't interested in their bikes? Definitely some exciting stuff coming down the pipe though.
Turned my Trek Rail 7 into an Enduro rig, 230x65 rear Fox Factory DPX2 Shock for 169mm rear travel, 170mm Fox Factory 36 Grip2 up front (will be a 38 when I can find one.) The bike just RIPS!
Incredible amount of work here. Thank you! I wonder if you'd consider putting timestamp/chapter markers in the description. That would make it much easier for subscribers to navigate. Cheers!
Excellent in depth review. However just saw your 2022 Levo review. Not asking you to say what's best, but how would you describe the new Levo,s ride in comparison to the Trek Rail? Thanks
Hate to hear the Tazer review! I have their MX pro version with the ohlins suspension, and it feels amazing! Coil on the rear with the right spring rate is legit! And the dual crown m38 in the front is the best fork I've ever felt!
We're stoked to hear that you love the bike! That's all that matters, and we do think/know from experience that coil shocks do help the inherent characteristics that come with JS/VPP designs. Happy riding.
I just bought two Tazer Experts for our anniversary. Haven’t ridden them yet as my husbands came damaged, then it poured all day. But I live in Hurricane and have lots of trails to ride, eventually.
I have never spent 20 minutes watching a review and this 43 minute party review left me wanting more. Awesome, simply an awesome job. I really need to know what motor Bosch or Shimano ?
Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. They're both solid motors with their own pros and cons... Either way though, the bike is going to be the more important factor in the equation. At least in our opinion.
as always, top quality content, I'm intrigued as to what bike brands were unable to get a bike to you for the shootout, I understand you can only judge what you have ridden but it would be interesting to see if your opinions change as and when the missing bikes are tested.
Hey Gavin, We had high hopes of getting a new Levo and were in regular communication with many brands, but just little delays due to shipping made it impossible to get. Also, the Orbea Wild, which was a winner last year was high on the list, but had zero inventory as well as a Forestal and a Rocky Mountain. We also wanted to have a Pivot Shuttle, which we currently have, but they don't participate in group shootout/reviews so we couldn't bring that one along. We'd also hoped to bring some Norco's along, but you'll have to wait a few months for those. Hope that helps..
This is a great job guys, best work ever. Congrats. Looked like a lot of fun too :D You mentioned that you did a climb test. Do you have any results of that as well? I think most of us buying new ebikes are very interested in two things: distance [elevation too] covered on specific bike and climbing abilities. Since you first have to go up and then how long you can have fun :D
Thanks very much Bart! What a compliment. By hillclimb challenges we meant that we found short, very steep and or technical climbs and pit the bikes against each other to see who could clean the climbs on which bikes easiest. But you've given us a great idea for another video... Thanks
Awsome presentation guys!!! Keep doin` it. I like Santa Cruz too, but I would go for Canyon. But at the moment, my ride is Haibike allmtn 7 2021. Cheers from eMTB Slovenia!!!!
With the dvo build on the tazer Mx, having the jade coil with a 600lb spring and maxed out high speed compression at 220ish (probably more) at 6’2” for most big hits I am confident that I will not be bottoming this thing out unless I attempt the jungle drop in Santa Cruz( which I am not, not a chance).
The Loam Wolf i just realize Polygon has enter the ebike game, normally are the brands contact with testers or are you who ask it? I mean ... TEST IT!!! 😄
I'm glad the Haro got such a good review! It's been on my radar for sure! Still think I'm going with the Marin but that Haro looks like fun! Keep up the good content
Great comparison. Was considering many of these models including the Niner and Trek. After the review I ended up with the Haro. Awesome bike that my buddies love. Now they are all selling their current EMTB’s to upgrade to one these. One fir the Bullit which is sweet but I’m faster on my Haro. Thanks for the channel.
Next year you should probably test the Trek Rail 7 instead of the Rail 9.9. The Rail 7 is comparably priced with the other bikes in the trail category.
Been riding the Rail 7 since April 2020, just love this bike! Kills it up and down the front range in CO. Not a trail out here the bike doesn’t perform well on. I’m not near the biker these guys are but been doing what I do out here for 10 years and know my way around the chunky trails we ride here and this bike takes them all and asks for more. The Rail 7 has been nothing short of spectacular for me the last 14 months and I’ve been very pleased with its performance and the joy it brings me in my extended time on the trails (why I got an ebike, more time on the bike!).
Thanks very much we appreciate it and stoked to hear you enjoy your eeb! Spread the love to your friends and have 'em subscribe! it's the only way we'll get more! haha .
Let's see , do i want the ferrari with 85, 90 or 110 NMs . Should i opt for the heated seat or the maxis tires or the magic marry tires . red or red . seriously , this all splitting hairs with these super bikes . they're all superb so put a blind fold on and grab what's ever in front of you . you WILL have fun.
You mentioned the Canyon eating up the battery while testing. Can you recall roughly how much riding you can get out of the 504Wh battery? Do you think a day bike park "self-shuttling" is a realistic expectation out of one battery charge or would a second battery likely be required? Thanks for a great review on all the bikes!
Great job guys, is there chart someplace we can compare all the specs. Hopefully Yamaha takes review and improves bike that's a great start and I think Haro offered frame only do could build up they would sell out instantly. That's niche that really has massive hole in it. Keep shredding guys.
Great video guys! Your group tests are always some of the best on UA-cam, and not only because having four experienced riders with varying backgrounds and riding styles makes for a well balanced and informative review, but also because the format and video editing is easy to digest, clear and concise as well as just plain enjoyable to watch. Now I know that due to Covid there's several brands that were unable to provide a test subject on time and what not, but y'all have ridden the Turbo Kenevo with the revised asymmetrical frame and I was wondering . . . Had Specialized been able to provide y'all with a 2021 Kenevo Expert do you guys reckon it would have taken best in test? I'm looking to buy an ebike and all my favs aren't available here in the States, like the Kellys Thanos F90 and Mustache Samedi Game 10. Therefore the Kenevo is atop my list at the moment and Im curious to hear how you dudes think it would have faired against the other bikes in this grouptest. Cheers! Thanks guys!
Great and thorough test guys. Very nice watching these videos. In curious tho, why would you test the highest price Rail model against the others in the lineup? The 9.7 is quite a capable bike and is significantly cheaper.
Well, loved to watch this as every year... but: The bike choice might be a bit unfortunate this year. Only one premium brand's bike in each category that's almost double the price of the others... and of course won... I get the fact, that Trek for example won't send you a Rail 5 as a review sample, but maybe you should split the group test in low budget and open budget then.
Great e-mtb shootout, again! Makes the decision on what to buy easier and more difficult, for me. Any chance you might be getting a Scott Ransom eRide 920 for a test, soon?
@@jroase1658 The Levo as you know it would have been a strong contender, but not a winner, just like last year's showing. It's a great bike, for sure. But Specialized (although they really really wanted to be involved) couldn't get us a bike in time and you'll see why tomorrow!
Hey Daniel, despite lots of hard work on both our part and Specialized, who both really really wanted to have some of their bikes in the shootout, it just didn't work out and you'll see why in the very near future!
Hey, super cool set of reviews! nicely done. Seems like the Marin lost out a little due the shock tune/suspension design? Didn't quite pick up what the issue was? Did you only use the 450lb spring or did play around?
Thanks! The Marin is a super fun bike no doubt. We only had the one 450 coil on hand so could not make any changes. A little firmer out back and I think it would for sure liven up the ride. But for a trail bike its definitely on the upper edge of capable and would be a great one bike fix
Thank you very much Neil and both our testers and Orbea were bummed to not be able to find a bike in time... We think it's still a very solid bike and still would do well.
Just out of curiosity, how is the performance elite shock on the marin worse than factory? I thought performance elite and factory had the exact same adjustments, just cosmetic differences.
Yes and we're also going to have a standalone review. Schwalbe Big Betty 2.6 Super Gravity rear Magic Mary 2.6 Super Trail front. we experimented with pressures and depending on trails, we typically were 22-26psi.
Love the breakdown guys, well done. It just seems like this was setup for Trek and Santa Cruz to win as you tested the top-of-the-line models from the 2 most expensive bikes against the lower models with cheaper forks, shocks, brakes, etc. Doesn't seem like a very fair comparison. To your point at the end, where would the Haro end up given the same components as the Bullit? What about the Commencal with the Trek components?
Thanks Jae, The Commencal has Factory level suspension, which is hardly entry level stuff and the Intense Tazer also has Fox Factory suspension, which was voted below the Fezz and Marin and Haro. We feel your point on who's being set up to win is totally invalidated by the fact that the Fezzari, Marin and Haro all won awards and don't have top of the line components or suspension! In fact the Haro was one of our absolute favorite bikes in the entire shootout, so we 're not sure how you got to that conclusion, but we appreciate you sharing! It could be that they're just the best bikes in the shootout...
@@TheLoamWolf Feel sorry for you guys having to answer the same questions over and over.... surely people realise a review like this is based on what bikes the manufacturers choose to send, which is based on what they have available to send which is also heavily dependant on whether a manufacturer actually wants to have their bikes pitted against the competition.... thanks for the review :)
Here's a question. Were there any other bikes from last years test that you liked more? Its a bit of a shame there wasnt any brose motor or the Rocky Mountain Powerplays on test which is understandable as it must be hard to line all the bikes up at once
Thanks for watching. The Orbea is still an awesome bike and both Orbea and our team were bummed they couldn't find a bike. We think it could certainly still be a top contender! There are certainly some bikes from last year that are still solid machines, sadly it's just a tough time to get bikes.
Hey Devin, we'd love to but Scott has not replied to any of our emails... Hopefully everyone who has written the same request sends Scott an email or message that says they want to see us review their bikes! Maybe then we'll be important enough. haha
I am surprised there was not a Specialized Turbo Levo in that group or a Haibike?

You already use metric (mm) for frame dimensions why not switch weight units (to kilograms) also. Thanks for the video! This riding location is amazing.
It's pretty common to use MM and LBS together in the US, especially when discussing European built products.
We often use both systems in the same sentence for the same dimension or measurement. A lot of it is personal preference. I like metric for the small stuff and imperial for larger measurements. I will often talk about grams and pounds in the same paragraph. With linear, I hate cm, but like using mm. The gap from cm to M is absurd, so feet are more useful. For long distance, mileage and km are both useful.

GREAT JOB TEAM!!
Great video. I would have loved to see some of the Specialized bikes compared.
We tried and Specialized tried... Sadly shipping delays due to Covid had other plans.
Great vid - you guys rock.
Great video !!! Part 2 any time soon ? with the rest of the industry not on your video. 👏great work guys .
That would be great huh! We'll try get get some more bikes to test once availability comes in.
“Some fun jump trails”
Home of Red Bull rampage lol
We've heard of that. It's a bike race right??
@@TheLoamWolf Yeah something like that
So Niner has 2 Heavy E-Bike Models.
Great e-mtb shootout, again! Makes the decision on what to buy easier and more difficult, for me. Any chance you might be getting a Scott Ransom eRide 920 for a test, soon?
No bikes from Specialized? The most sold emtb on the market. Why did you not compared any of them?
Covid shipping issues probaly, couldnt get one
We all know the Levo rules and would have taken the top 3 atleast imo. But it is a little more money and I think that’s what they are hittin on here.
@@TheLoamWolf new Levo being announced tomorrow :)
Awesome job guys, thanks! How do you think last year’s Orbea Wild FS would hold up among this bunch?
Thank you very much Neil and both our testers and Orbea were bummed to not be able to find a bike in time... We think it's still a very solid bike and still would do well.
Thanks guys, great job on the reviews. What would be your best bang for buck pick?
Haro for sure.
Just out of curiosity, how is the performance elite shock on the marin worse than factory? I thought performance elite and factory had the exact same adjustments, just cosmetic differences.
Hey thanks for watching. This shock did not have any adjustments whereas the nicer shocks have compression and rebound adjustments available.
Cool video as always
Thanks for the great reviews, can you give the spec on the tires you used and also tire pressures
Yes and we're also going to have a standalone review.
Schwalbe Big Betty 2.6 Super Gravity rear
Magic Mary 2.6 Super Trail front.
we experimented with pressures and depending on trails, we typically were 22-26psi.
@@TheLoamWolf awesome, thanks. Look forward to seeing the review.
Cool just got 2020 trek rail 9.7 ...saved a few bucks........ rolls over and climbs Everything...
Thanks Jae,
The Commencal has Factory level suspension, which is hardly entry level stuff and the Intense Tazer also has Fox Factory suspension, which was voted below the Fezz and Marin and Haro.
Love to see what they think of the Husqvarna and gasgas EBikes!!!!!
Hopefully we can get one! We've tried reaching out a few times with no luck yet...
Has anyone noticed that the new EP8 has less power than the 1st gen system? EP8 has more torque but a noticeable less amount of horse power.
What about the 2021 Orbea Wild FS.... Not included?
Unfortunately, even though Orbea and our team really really wanted one, they simply couldn't find a bike to send us! It's still a competitor for sure!
Where would you put the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay in this shootout? How does it compare in the Enduro category?
I think that bike was in the 2022 emtb shootout and did super good!
Why did you not include Specialized in your review? BTW, great job, very entertaining.
We were hoping to have one there as did specialized, but sadly COVID delays prevented the bike from being here in time.
What trails were ya'll riding? Didn't know there was motorized singletrack out there.
Oh youre that guy.
Great review job.
Do you guys own e-bike or you ride regular?
Both!
No Rocky Mountain...how is the RM Powerplay being left out of all these shootouts? With that out of the way, great video!
Timing and stock availability. There were many bikes we had planned on but due to inventory we could not make it happen :(
@@TheLoamWolf Feel sorry for you guys having to answer the same questions over and over.... surely people realise a review like this is based on what bikes the manufacturers choose to send, which is based on what they have available to send which is also heavily dependant on whether a manufacturer actually wants to have their bikes pitted against the competition.... thanks for the review :)
@@simonshawmusic Yeah, I'm pretty sure we even said that specifically in the video but...this is the world we're in. haha.
@@TheLoamWolf Yeh i could imagine.
Still love the videos and it was a great test
Where’s the Yamaha Moro Pro?
hey, nice video. Is a e MTB enduro bike with the Shimano steps e8000 still a buy in 2021? thanks
Yes, absolutely
Awesome job great review 👏👍
Thank you! 👍
@@TheLoamWolf new levo should be released any moment 😁😁😁😁🙏🙏
Do you guys get Cube or Ghost bikes in the US?
really cool, well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Please review some Scott ebikes. Scott ransom eride 910, and scott genius eride 900 tuned
Hey Devin, we'd love to but Scott has not replied to any of our emails... Hopefully everyone who has written the same request sends Scott an email or message that says they want to see us review their bikes! Maybe then we'll be important enough. haha
I’ll own an e bike one day when I figure out which one I want 😂 Would have loved to see a Husqvarna in there just for the sake of it being different
A EMTB shootout without a Levo? - did you not get hold of one?
Trek rail 9.9 or Santa Cruz bullet ?
Regarding the intense - would swapping out the shock to a tuned FOX X2 factory possibly fix the bad DPX tuned shock you had? Thanks
We do think that could help a bit.
No Levo or Kenevo?
So are these bikes going to be available to buy anytime soon ?
And what about YT capra Shred ?
It would be fun to see the winner battle a Sur Ron X. Best not a bike vs. best not a motorcycle
