  • Here I'll be comparing these 2 Electrolux Epic vacuums, the Electrolux Epic 3500 upright ( • Electrolux Epic 3500 S... ), and the Epic 6500 Canister ( • Electrolux Epic 6500 S... ), I hope you enjoy.

Although I wish I had the upright, I have the canister and it is one of my favorite vacuums. Rolls really easily, very quiet, and has a shocking amount of power. I don't like carrying it around, or how vulnerable the hose seems to be to tearing at the ends, or how the electrical connection on the powerhead swivel could be unreliable, but those are somewhat easy to overlook for a great all-rounder.

I have had both models, both clean well, but in using the attachments with the upright, it has a tendency to tip over rather easily, as the suction port is on the top of the unit.

This is a great vacuum cleaner (the upright vacuum cleaner) that’s is , but yes the pull along model is also good

With the upright do the tools come in caddy like the kirby tools do

Correct, I even took the time to buy the period correct ones for this particular upright.

The canister has a little more power. You may not notice it vacuuming with the power head. But if you feel the suction from the end of the hoses, you will definitely feel a difference.

I do believe the uprights were a bit of an afterthought for Electrolux mostly to market for those people who prefer uprights.

@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 I prefer the upright too. It's self contained. The canister. You have the cord, the canister, the hose and a powerhead. Too much stuff to lug around and trip over. Before I bought my own vacuum, I used to borrow my mother's canister. It was too cumbersome. I've also bought and sold a few of both. I pick them up in the thrift stores for $20, sell them on Craigslist for 100-200. My GF has the Dyson ball upright. That's a piece of garbage made of hard brittle plastics, and extremely complicated with dozens of little parts when repairing. I also hate the accordion style hoses shrinking up and tipping the machine over.

I currently own and use both of these vacuum cleaners. Excellent machines. If you compare hose ends I think that the 6500 SR has more airflow/suction.

It does, I think Electrolux made their upright vacuums out of obligation for those who prefer uprights while their canisters usually were the ones that had more power.

I miss my Epic 6500 SR canister, but now I have the Aerus guardian platinum canister, and it’s amazing, the suction is like no other, makes Dyson look like garbage

These Aerus Electrolux Canisters are honestly the best performing canisters I've ever used. The suction and airflow are honestly the best, I've never owned a modern canister (I would like to find a Lux Classic if I were looking for a modern version), but I have owned a couple different Guardian uprights, and they performed better than my 3500SR, and since I've experienced the canisters having better suction and airflow than the uprights, I can just imagine how a later canister would perform.

I had traded in the the 6500 SR, and originally bought first the black lux legacy which was great, and basically identical, I had a mishap and a temper tantrum and broke it, but the guy at the Aerus store offered me a trade in, and that Guardian Lux Platinum always had my attention, it literally pulls the carpet back to life, I couldn’t believe the suction, and being able to choose the suction power mode, but most of all I love the double hepa filter, and also having the long life after motor hepa filter is great, it really does make a difference in the air quality, and the canister is so quiet! They really stepped up on that one, I figured it was worth getting, no regrets. The only think I don’t like I the bags they use, they are a lot smaller than than style C bags, but the bags are such high quality, there is no dusting escaping that vacuum. 👍🏼

I have a Renaissance, I love it. But the metal Electrolux canisters, especially if it is well maintained, outcleans anything. I had one, my brother never gave it back.

And I only use genuine vacuum cleaner bags.

Another feature I love is the blower port: attach the hose to blow dust from under the refrigerator and baseboard heater. The upright does not have that feature.
