I watched this early this morning to see what I'd be getting into today. And I got mine done without much trouble. I'm commenting to add my 2 cents (and 50 years of wrenching experience). 1st. Take the fan and shroud off first. Gives a ton of room to mess with hose clamps.
2nd you don't need to completely remove upper and lower rad hoses unless you intend to replace them. 3rd. It takes no time to remove the alternator (2 bolts) and AC compressor (5 bolts). Why? To replace that damned bypass hose.
Remove the bracket on the front of the engine for open access. Also the Rams are notorious for heater not hot enough. The bypass hose is huge. I restricted it by inserting a flat washer that fit snug inside the hose on the pump end. My heater is blazing now. May as well do a thermostat while it's easy to get to also. Thanks!

I'm sure he would have replaced the bypass hose if he could have, but it is impossible to replace the bypass hose without removing the large cast aluminum bracket (don't know what it's called) that involves the AC compressor and the alternator.

Fan shrouds should be made in two interlocking pieces, upper and lower. Far too often they are simply in the way and require fan removal. Imagine how much easier even fan removal would be without the upper half of the shroud in the way.

It's a 'nice to have' tool that makes your job easier because it makes rhythmic beats to loosen the fan clutch, but there is also a manual tool that has two little prongs that will grab and hold the pulley wheel allowing you to use something like a large adjustable wrench to remove the fan. Here's another UA-cam video that describes it (ua-cam.com/video/iAsE7tHE9Uc/v-deo.html). But the pneumatic tool is definitely easier.

I've gotten this down to about an hour long job. I don't have a fan clutch tool, but a large pipe wrench and a tire bar work fine. Remove serpentine belt. Use tire bar to exert outward (toward front of vehicle) pressure on the water pump pulley (ONLY IF REPLACING WATER PUMP!!! HIGH RISK OF DAMAGING BEARING IN PULLEY!!!) to keep it from wiggling as I break the fan clutch free. It's a bit of a pain, but the fan can be taken out through the bottom if the nut connector dealy is moved to the driver side (right side as working on it) of the crankshaft pulley. Remove windshield washer reservoir. Remove fan shroud. Remove hoses from water pump unless intending to replace. Free access (about a foot of available space!) in about 7-10 minutes. This time, I am going to be removing a small strip of material from the bottom of the fan shroud to make it possible to remove this component without having to break loose the fan clutch first. Should be able to get this down to about 45 minutes.

One BIG mistake on this vid is the use of METAL tools on the timing cover. Never i repeat N-E-V-E-R use metal tools on aluminum. Youll gouge the crap out of the surfaces. Not everyone is as good as you.
Otherwise great video folks. Keep em coming.😁

Yo should have contact cemented the gasket to the water pump before starting, but never on the block......Ive done that for fifty years and never a problem. Without a doubt, the hose clamps should have been replaced. The clamps were simply worn out, with the possibility of water leakage.

Missed the cheat trick..... Unbolt the ac compressor and the alternator and set them out of the way. Hate that brackets design in there. Much easier to get at that stupid hose that's a bear. Need to replace mine before long it's not looking good from the outside.

Problem with videos is you can't ask questions. Like there is a little o ring that came with the new pump. Where does it go? You mentioned an O ring but didn't show where to put it. So frustrated. So I'm texting a mechanic and he tells me the o ring goes inside the water pump housing. So I put it there. Tightened everything back up and it's still leaking. So now the mechanic says he didn't tell me that so I copied and pasted his exact words. I'm so frustrated. This is costing me so much. I was just trying to save myself money and it's only cost me 4 days and body aches and pains and so much money. Borrowing my clients vehicle to go back and forth to auto store.
So... I'm starting over with the hopes of finding that o ring and not having to purchase a new water pump. I'm sorry but this was a busy for me. Please forgive me for ranting but I needed to. I'm sick from what just happened. And what I have to redo.😢

Thankfully I skipped ahead to the fan clutch part and was able to see the specialty tool they used, so I closed this video and looked someplace else before wasting any more time, I don't have that tool or anything like it. You need a 36mm wrench or a BIG monkey wrench or pipe wrench, and a way to keep the water pump pulley from spinning (not the fan blade side, but the side the belt rides on.) so you keep the water pump pulley from spinning while turning the big nut counter clockwise: ua-cam.com/users/shortsGWF5RnQE_bo

The rust that's underneath that truck. Must be from Ohio. Or Alaska.
