    My keypad works great! I have no battery issues (and I live in the midwest where temps are currently in the 20s with high temps of 90s in the summer). I charge my keypad every 2 months (give or take). I have an orbi mesh system which makes my smart home function like a charm. I think for everyone complaining about connection, they need to check their router and also take note of what speeds you are paying for from your ISP. I highly recommend EVERYONE gets a mesh system when you start adding devices outside of your home.

    Re: connectivity issue: I experienced the same issue. My work around was much easier.
    1. I reset the keypad and went through the set up process again.
    2.When I was prompted to input the wifi password again I intentionally put in an incorrect password.
    3. When the app informs you that you have entered an incorrect password then input the correct password.
    This should resolve this issue.

    Interesting concept (which is why I searched for videos on it) but everything I have seen says the battery drain really quickly because of the camera. That's the problem I have with my August smart lock is that I have to replace the batteries all of the times and those batteries aren't cheap. I think this uses a rechargeable battery though but charging it all of the time sounds like a pain. .

    Biggest drawback is that this does NOT send the open/close radio signal like a regular opener remote. It only sends data signals via WiFi to either compatible openers with MyQ built-in, or a MyQ hub linked to non-WiFi opener. This excludes liftmaster’s own receivers (like an 850lm) used for older garage and gate openers without a built-in receiver.

I've not heard of anyone having an issue where the code randomly stops working.

      If you are referring to the issues I had with the original connection it was caused more by my router not using the 2.4 GHz band. Once I installed a different router I had no issues. Unfortunately I find a lot of manufacturers not supporting 5 GHz which is dumb, it's been out for a very long time. Device has worked flawlessly since I switched routers.

      Good question and sorry for not mentioning that, it's definitely good information to know. No you do not need a subscription to stream live video. However, a subscription is required to automatically record and save video. The premium features they offer such as People Detection and Facial Recognition are not available without a subscription. They have 3 different plans that you can choose from starting as low as $20 a year. The highest plan, which is $100 a year is full featured and supports multiple devices with a 30 day history, so if you have multiple myQ camera's it will cover all of them for one price.

    Just did the initial connection and it went quick and seamlessly it skipped the colored buttons and just connected after about a minute of light blinking on the keypad without messing with the opener (Raynor/Liftmaster MyQ opener connected to my Netgear Nighthawk router). I'm trying to learn the features -- two-way communication & motion detection/video playback. Biggest problem I have is the unit's speaker volume is so extremely quiet that the outdoor user has to put their ear up to it to hear (I hear just fine on the other end, on the phone app). Is there a volume adjustment on the keypad?? If not, the "communication" is pretty useless.

    • @GadgetguyzGadgets
      @GadgetguyzGadgets  7 місяців тому +1

      You can go inrto the audio setrtings in the app and adjust the Talk Back Volume. Not sure how much louder it will be, I haven't had the need to use that feature. Let me know if it resolves the volume issue.

    • @shadduck
      @shadduck 7 місяців тому

      @@GadgetguyzGadgets I did eventually find that setting, increasing to max did not improve the volume on the keypad. But, have discovered that two-way communication using my wife's iPhone 14 (we're both logged in to the same MyQ account) produces loud volume on the keypad. Doesn't help with my Samsung Galaxy A53 but does narrow down the issue, to some extent. I guess I'll live with it like this. With my phone i can still use all the other features -- notification & recording when motion is detected and can hear loud and clear from the keypad's mic when I connect the live stream. I do wonder if it's a general compatibility issue with android vs iOS... suppose I could uninstall/reinstall the app on my phone. Issue is not resolved but it pretty much eliminates it being a warranty issue with MyQ. I bought it on Amazon's recent pre-black Friday sale for $49 so it's still a pretty cool device, for the price of a standard non-video keypad.

    • @GadgetguyzGadgets
      @GadgetguyzGadgets  6 місяців тому

      Yeah, it wasn't a security protocol issue. I run all my Wi-Fi SSID's with WPA2/AES. The issue was it wouldn't connect to the 2.4 GHz, and even though it says it supports 5 GHz, it wouldn't connect to that either. My Orbi was having some other odd issues, which is why I decided to replace it. My current firewall didn't have any issues with the connectivity. That being said I think manufacturers need to have 2.4 and 5 GHz compatibility regardless. It's ridiculous in my opinion, to only have a 2.4 compatibility.

    I bought 2 of these for my 3 car garage. I have an extender in my garage. Both keypads show fair wifi. When I open the doors the wifi is strong. They seem to have a weak wifi receiver. My Arlo camera mounted in the front of the garage and 3 smart wifi bulbs outside the garage have strong wifi connections even with the door closed. With door closed I cannot use live view. Also my batteries only last 2 weeks even at the lowest motion sensor setting. I do get a warning that because of the fair wifi signal battery will drain faster. So disappointed because I really love the keypads. But changing batteries every 2 weeks is not gonna work for me. So I will be reinstalling my old keypads and just sticking with the Arlo for motion sensing and video.

    • @GadgetguyzGadgets

      Interesting, it's crazy how there are so many people with such different experiences but similar setups. My keypad also shows fair wifi connection but I can use live view with our without the door open and the closest AP is upstairs above the garage. I am on track again to get a good 8-9 weeks from the battery with moderate notifications on, and it has gotten a little cooler outside. I hate that your experience on the battery life is so bad, if they could work out the connectivity/battery issue to last longer that would be awesome. Those issues aside the device really does a good job and has some other nice features but I agree with you, if my battery life was 2 weeks I couldn't do that either.

      At least I know I'm not alone! I took had an Orbi setup but couldn't gat the device to connect at all. I mentioned that in one of my videos and it really is irritating that manufacturers don't include 5G connectivity. This is a drawback for many IOT devices, just like Switchbot devices, and it's ridiculous. Although I will say it does work with mesh systems, I got mine to connect using Google Nest WiFi pods and I'm not using an Asus Zen mesh system, the Asus is really nice because I can have separate SSID's for each band if I but I have mine setup where the 2.4 and 5G are one SSID and the 6E is another and I haven't had any issues with that setup. And it's fast, I have a review of it on my channel. Thanks for your comment!

      You should just be able to click the + sign in the app and add it like you added the first one.

    It’s a pain in the buttocks. You have to remove the unit from the mount to be able to remove the battery to be able to recharge the battery. Also, it only opens one door where my older keypad can control multiple doors.

      Hi, and thanks for your comment. I agree that it's not very convenient, which is why I bought an extra battery to keep charged; it's a 5-minute swap. The unit itself works great and does everything I want it to do, so I don't mind. I've not had 2 doors so that I didn't know was an issue.

    This is such a lame product.
    Complaint 1. There's now hardwire capability. If you have a garage door opener you have 24vac for the keypad.
    Complaint 2. You can't control the door remotely, just issue codes remotely.
    If someone rings you, you can't simply open the door for them. You must give them a code.
    If someone leaves the door open, you're not able to close it remotely.

      I do agree they should have the option to provide a hardware power source but I think their intent was to allow you to put it in places where it's difficult to run power. Also you can use the remote open/close feature with their subscription, since that uses their cloud server side functionality it is part of the paid service. However, the plans start at just $20 a year.
