Great video. I owned a 2004 Toyota Matrix XR which is an identical car. I had to remove the carpet in front passenger area due to water leaking into cab from a faulty AC drain line. Apparently the rubber hose came loose, so it leaked water right behind the glove box area slightly to the left hand side of it. It's close to where a persons foot could step on. FYI, if you passenger side carpet is getting soaked with water check your AC drain hose. If it's soaked in coolant, it's the heater core leaking which is also in the dash. I popped the drain plug in floor out to drain water and pulled the insulation padding off my carpet on passenger side only and let it dry in the sun for 2 days. The interior carpet I left flipped open and put a fan on it to evaporate the dampness. I siliconed the drain hose back in place to prevent future leaks. Luckily I didn't have to remove everything like in your video and the floor boards hadn't started rusting yet.

Checking some of the online suppliers, as of 2018 no one has new stock. For both the 1st and 2nd gen Vibe, best bet is a auto parts yard. Look for a car that has been wrecked, has all its windows intact and check for water damage.

For those viewing this with a Matrix, how close does the carpet and floor area match the Vibe?
not sure if you still monitor comments but how much difference did the sound deadening make? Would you say the car is now quiet? I have a 2009 matrix AWD and I am considering doing this work.
How did you deal with the rust problems?
do they sell aftermarket replacement custom fit carpeting? my 2004 is really beat - and most likely some mold/rust also from a couple floodings that only wet the floorboards? and how much about do they run?
Man….I did this a month ago on a beater orange vibe I bought for $450. Well…I didn’t do the sound deadening. Luckily I’d picked up a nice carpet at the junkyard from an 08. Had it listed for sale but once I bought the car and saw how nasty the carpet was I decided to put it in there. I swear the neighbours probably fought I had transported a body in there the way I had that interior torn apart…cleaners, bleach (she had travelled long distance with her cat in the car I guess…litter everywhere. Yuck). Lol
What is the brand of your sound deadener?
How did you take care of the rust?
Have a separate video showing rusted floor board repair. On the carpet, I removed the padding and replaced with closed cell foam.
Fred Lyst Did that closed cell foam help with outside noise?
Did you put the extra car outlet into the center console or did they wire yours prior to you buying it?
+Brittni Fields I had to add the center console outlet. The 2005 and newer Vibes did not have the outlet. It is a somewhat standard hole, it can use many aftermarket 12v receptacle kits, if you do find a used OEM socket, they fit best.

I removed the B pillar covers when I messed with the front seatbelts. I'm have trouble getting the covers to attach at the top. Did you run into this situation?
