  • Testing the differences between using an actual amp (5e3 tweed deluxe clone) with an atenuator and load box, compared to a Joyo American Sound. First clip is 5e3 with load box but not speaker attahced so Burgera PS1 is the load in first clip, second clip is the same but attaching an extenal speaker as the load and third is a Joyo American sound.

I was excited to finally see someone demonstrate a Tweed sound with this pedal, but then I saw that you didn't have the Joyo set to a Tweed-style setting. The voice control is supposed to be turned to the right for Tweed voicings.

I love that the instructions for the American and the British say nothing about what the voice actually does. Had to UA-cam it.

@@psychotogether5114 Yeah. Or you have to look up the manuals for the Tech 21 pedals that the Joyos are cloned after. American Sound = tech 21 Blonde, and the British Sound = British (of course, haha). If you're interested in further detail, I found this somewhere online by a tech who had taken them apart and analyzed the circuitry: The different models of the pedal all have identical circuitry except for the Voice control, which is a pre-gain mids control, and the Mids control, which is a post gain mids control. These controls are both voiced specifically to mimic the qualities of each particular amp represented by each pedal.

@@darwinsayevoice and mid controls aren’t exactly the same between Tech21 Blonde and Joyo American sound.

@@numero6285 Never had them both to compare. The particular midrange frequencies being affected may not be exactly the same on the Tech21 and the Joyo, but the voice/character controls are absolutely pre-gain mids controls, while the other EQ knobs are regular post gain EQ controls. Cranking the mids control will just increase midrange, but cranking the voice control will both increase certain mids *and* boost the gain/overdrive.

That's my DI rig, either the American or British (depending on what I'm going for, or my mood :) ) and the Solid Studio, along with my board ofc.
Have you managed to get cranked, Neil Young-style Tweed tones out of the Joyo? I dimed the gain and messed with the "Voice" but couldn't quite nail it. Might need a booster in front to goose it a little.

Matt Gilbert haven’t messed with it much more, still trying to figure out which the best clean ish platform first.

Using a real amp and IR loader feels more like a real amp but the Joyo sounds decent enough that you could use it live.

@@regayers Using some compression into the Joyo, will make it feel more amp-like . . . . .
