JCM800 4x10 vs 4x12
Переглядів 470Місяць тому
Marshall 1959 Super Lead played with Gibson SG. Amp is being boosted by TS808 to get some additional gain. Recorded with a Ribbon mic and SM57 blended straight into camera. Comparing 4x10 Fender cabinet with 4x12 cabinet. The Fender alnico 10" speakers hold together pretty well and what they lack in overall body they make up for in tightness.

Play through on my JCM800 1959 Superlead Recorded using a blend of a Superlux Ribbon mic and SM57. 2x12 with the Weber Silverbell Alnico being mic'd up only. 2005 Les Paul Classic used, no pedals straight into camera audio.

2005 Deluxe Power House Strat MIM demo, The No load tone pot is generally on around 9 (just before it clicks over) apart from a short demo of how it works. First half of video is played through 2 x Tone Ones in stereo with a TJ 65 Deluxe Reverb on one side and a Vox 64 Vox on the other side and the last half is played with a Tone Sheppard Z80 on one side and Supro Black Magic on the other. The vs6 is nicer. But I'm biased cause I own one myself.
Smart guys play Kemper Profiler.
@@arnefreymann313 not us Dad rockers, toobs for life! Blah blah blah. ps: this is my practice rig, my real gigging rig is 2 x Tone X ones, I’d never bother charting this rig down to a gig!
Nice riffs, and sounds so good! Nice work
Congrats on getting a silver!
Nice one Reg.
Turn off the BULB Noise Reduktion at the THD and You have the highs back
This was my favorite amp. Sounds amazing man. 🤟😎🎸
I remember that Refuse song MTV2 played it continuously from like 2000-2003 probably.
I found this amp sounds lot better with Eq and bbe exciter on the effects loops
Peavey has made great Amps for a long time n this is proof! Sounds excellent! I have a 95’ Classic 50 2x12 with EL 84’s that sounds incredible. Rock on!
amp sounds great 🔥
Best could be both at the same time
Did you succumb to you G.A.S.?
I wouldn’t call it GAS at this price point, just scratching a high gain itch.
@regayers Fair enough.
The best pedal on the planet and I mean that. Every section on this pedal is worth the price of admission. I have a V2 and seriously I will never part with it.
I have the V2 of the Tone of the Gods pedal and it is aptly named. This is the best pedal I have ever had so versatile and useful with any amp or rig. If you can get one I would immediately!
Niveau riff, c'est un peu chiant! Faudrait changer un peu! On se rend pas vraiment compte du potentiel de cette pédale! Dommage!
Are you running effects pedal through the amp or is that all amp?
@@FrederickSandersJR-u8j that’s just the amp, it has built in effects in the amp which I’ve added some delay and reverb through the app. I found it easiest to setup my presets in the app.
@@regayers well damn it sounds pretty good
Very tasty.. .. love!
❤
@@dougscott3438 thanks Doug!
sounds great
I leaned something new! Its an early 800 model described in the Marshall forum. Do I need to say it sounds awesome?😊
Great demo! I have this pedal, recently the ‘shimmer’ setting has started cutting in and out, almost like the unit can’t process the sound quick enough. Weird. I might have to swap it out now.
Black shuck!
Nice 🤘
Great tone that, a classic forever. I still vividly recall my friends playing one of these about 25 years ago - it was my first time hearing a proper valve amp and I was blown away by how good it was.
Can you use the Suhr just as an attenuator? Can you get a good comfortable volume that still sounds good? (without any IR)
@@SeemoreDunkan unfortunately the Suhr is just a load box, no attenuator. I ended up keeping the THD because of this, even though the Suhr sounded better practically I needed an attenuator as well.
@@regayers Damn.. I don't get Suhr, folks love their product but 50% of them can't use it the way they want to
What a great video ! 800 is a tad more compressed than plexi which sounds more organic and bit more forward. DR is really really not bad all, just more bit more modern and lean. 900 DR’s go for extremely cheap compared to the other 2, great deal due to bad reputation since people are comparing them to 800’s. Totally different voicing.
800, 87 needs a treble boost, 900 was far away sounding compared to either.
@@chadherring2790 a pretty good summary, the 87 is a little looser feeling, the 900 more modern with less solid feeling bass. Still trying to find my own 2203/4 but I currently have a JCM800 1959 Plexi which is also great!
What's the tune in the second half? Mesmerising!
@@rosshill-r8k just a familiar type phrase I often play when testing a delay pedal.
@@regayers bugger 😄 I was hoping it was something that I could download the chords for!! It's good!!
Very good
I have a Crate amp that's just like this, the Crate 5 tube amp.
Excellent video, thx. Helped me a great deal making my decision.
Lovely classic Strat noises there
Love that riff
That lightning looks like it’s got plenty of gain on tap Reg! Sounds great..
Which effects did you use on the clean tone?
I can’t remember exactly but it definitely has a slap back delay and some reverb on if that helps.
Beautiful!
Beautiful!
Bridge is on backwards my dude, ABR1 screws go towards neck - look at the string slots, big one is under the high E.
@@frankwren8215 you know I’ve never even noticed that! I’ll swap that over next time it’s out of its case.
@@regayers glad I could help mate 😁 enjoy
There is no backwards lol. It makes no difference as long as you switch the saddles around.
@@KyLesCaster 🤡
@@KyLesCaster Yes, there IS a 'backwards.' With the screw heads facing the tailpiece, it is much more difficult to access them with a screwdriver due to both the tailpiece and the very stiff string afterlengths being in the way.
Wow what a sound! What's the speaker in it? I got the same 62 Brown face amp. Mine has a great 70's Goodman in it.
@@heartsisfire unfortunately I’m only borrowing this one, have to give it back soon. it has a jBL D130F speaker in it, not sure which era the speaker is from but it suits the amp just fine!
@@regayers That is a classic combination. Yeah gorgeous top end and not cold or thin at all. Been wanting to try one on mine if I get a chance.
This video rules. Sounds COOL with those mods, man. Bravo! If you boosted that thing with a treble booster, I wonder what would happen
Each have their suit
Nice man, greenbacks in the cab?
I think at the time I had 2x stock GB and 2 x V30. I now have 2x G12H 55hz GB and 2 x V30 for a slightly more modern Sound.
Great tone as always, and your pedals are honestly some of the cleanest and classiest looking pedals I’ve seen yet! Do you have a website for perusal? Cheers
Great tone! What amp are you using for this?
Oh nice!!! Dream amp. Must be pretty rare in NZ? 240v?
It’s just on loan from a friend, it belongs to Lttyleton Records studio. It’s 240v but unsure if it was changed to this at some point.
hey mate hows it going. long time, hows it all rocking for you with the pedals? hey what differnce did you find with the 2SA52 vs the 0C81 type? much differnce?
Yep definitely a difference in gain and how “loose” they feel. OC81 is kinda tighter and more together ave the 2SA52 feels looser with more gain. Germanium all have a bit of different tone, even with a very similar gain range. Not building much lately, just the odd build mostly to order.
@@regayers there are plenty of schematics out there, which range master schematic design did you use? have a link to it? I'm thinking of adding the treble booster to a new one off personal pedal build.

makes more sense to use a guutar with humbuckers for true classic rock tones, nobody useses tele for this music
I personally love both Teles and Les Paul’s for rock riffs, but that’s why I put 2 riffs with a Les Paul and 2 riffs with a Tele to cover the bases in the video so hopefully people can hear it from both perspectives.
Jimmy Page did…
I have it, but my EQ Section is defekt.....i dont now why
