Hi Claire, That is STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The colours of the resin to the black of the Bog Oak works perfectly and has resulted in such a beautiful pendant. 10 minute, 15 minute or 20 minute videos I don't mind. I would watch the all day long. Great video Claire and thanks so much for the shout out I really appreciate it. Take care mate. Hwyl, Huw
So glad you’re happy with it, Huw!! Have a few more ideas with some of the bog oak I have left. Thanks again for sending it to me. A really nice experience turning it into something other than a pen. 🥰🥰🌲🦊🌲
That's really nice. Also nice to hear all the info about the wood itself, especially how it became so black etc. When I hot glue something to a waste block I usually just glue the edges not underneath. I think you will be surprised how strong the glue is and it's far easier to take off as you just need to hit the glue with a thin parting tool to heat it up and you can peal it off. Well done!
Thanks, Paul. I actually tried someone’s suggestion to use rubbing alcohol on the hot glue, it works, softened the glue enough to just pop it off! Tried it yesterday and it worked a treat 🥰🌲🦊🌲
It is lovely. So glad you shared it. Hint: meths will cause the hot glue to release. Just a few drops all the way around, wait just a few minutes, and off she comes. Glad you’re back. Hope all is well.
You’re right - I’ve ideas fit s few more projects with the wood I have left too. Looking forward to working on those. Appreciate you taking time to watch and comment 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Great video. I'm trying to turn some bog oak now for a pen. I did some 2 years ago and got it. When cleaning my blanks I like to use Denatured Alcohol. It doesn't leave a residue after cleaning. That pendant is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Frank. The bog wood turned nicely - bit tricky with the different hardnesses of the resin but it worked! You stay Foxy too, fella 🌲🦊🌲
Slowly on the climb. Not sure how as not uploaded since before Xmas. I have. A few of yours to catch up on, I’ve been so hectic lately it will be nice to catch up and see what you’ve been up to my friend x
@@MakingItOutOfTheWoods its keeps me away from the tv but I feel I have to post something once a week...my biggest problem is trying to keep the videos short...I find they are getting longer and longer...I don't want to put people off ...anyway I don't want to keep you from your fans you must have lots of messages to respond to...cheers Chris
Ha, I’ve actually only just finished my shift so will check messages later - have to get back to my special fans like you right away ☺️ just do whatever length videos you like 👍 I will be sticking to around ten mins from now on. 15 was a bit long for me - 10 feels right - sped up 👍
Hi Claire , interesting project,,. won't use resins myself ,but if I did , I'd use a sweet corn tin ,( the one with a big green chap on it ) with the bog oak in it , then cut into slices you could make 4 or 5 pendants ,,. stay safe , Regards Alf
That is a beautiful looking pendant, bog oak is a lovely wood to work with, a American woodturner "ThePapa1947" uses Denatured alcohol (methylated spirits) on the hot glue to remove his wooden project with good results.
Well that’s a case of makers paying it forward if ever I heard one!! Glad to have them in MY possession!!! Still have some bits left so will crack on with a few more projects. Hope you’re well, my friend 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Try using alcohol to loosen the glue. DNA works OK. It will reduce the chances of marking the work with a knife. Also ( In my experience) there is no need to use glue in the centre. Believe it or not, a glue bead on the periphery will work even for off centre turning. I like the OC jig very much indeed.

5000 year old oak. And now a pendant that can also last a very long time. Nicely done Claire.
Frank.

That is awesome Claire. Beautiful work. The black works really well with the resin colours chosen.
Thanks for watching my friend 🥰🌲🦊🌲
A superb job Claire! and if the ancient people from our past could see it, they would be equally appreciative of your work
Cheers , Bram
Aww. Bram, that’s a lovely thing to say. Had fun making it. Appreciate you taking time to watch and comment as always. Back with more soon 🌲🦊🌲 x
Love it!!! Great choice of colours to compliment the bog oak 👌 such a lovely piece ❤️
Thanks for watching, Joe. The bog oak was really rewarding to work with 🥰🌲🦊🌲

Been a while, hey? Thanks for sticking with me and taking time to watch and comment. Al is well now and hopefully back in the maker groove 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Nice pendant and great job! That's going to be quite a conversation piece with age of the bog oak.

Hey, thanks for commenting. I was pretty pleased with this one. Goo d luck turning your bog oak, I’m sure it will be fab 🌲🦊🌲
You can use heat to release the hot glue saving your jig and less sanding on the piece. nice piece. thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that next time - I always struggle with it 🥰🌲🦊🌲
😁 Lovely job Claire. Makes me want to turn some resin... I better get making. Thanks for the video 😁 Stay foxy 🦊

Beautiful pendant Claire!
Thanks for your feedback, Pam. Had fun with this one 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Nice to see you back.....looks great!
A quick one but I’m back in the groove now 🥰🌲🦊🌲

Love the pendant & love the offset jig even more as I make a few pendants but I've not got a proper offset jig. I'll definitely make myself one.
Thanks for watching and hope you can find some bum feet - haha! It does work a great with the inserts and the bottle stopper mandrel 🥰🌲🦊🌲

That is awesome!!
A little denatured alcohol will soften the hot glue
Got it, will try that trick next time. Thanks for watching, Luie 🥰🌲🦊🌲

Fab hint, I’ll try that, it’s always a little precarious using the knife!! Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Very nice mate :) fun video as always! I recognise those blanks I may have sent them to huw a couple of years back 😁 what goes around comes around! X

Wow! Greta tip there - always happy to have helpful hints. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment 🥰🌲🦊🌲
Looks great Claire. You know you can use the alcohol to loosen the hot glue? All the best, Dave
Thanks, Dave I’ll try that next time - a bit dangerous with the old craft knife 🤣🤣🥰🌲🦊🌲
