They should rename it so that people don't confuse the ratings: Ip67-Oh no I spilled my water! Ip68-Let me take some pictures in the pool... Ip69-Freaking Challenger deep certified!!!
I really like that someone destroys a 900$ phone to test it in depth and find out what is really done apart from what the advertising tells you and not just for fun. Thumbs up!
In case you dont know: Water is non-conductive. If you just use destilled water you can submerge your iPhone 20 metres infinitely and it will still work. And by the way: The motherboard was not connected to power, so it wouldnt be a problem if he'd pour liquid metal on it.
Dude I agree with you 100% Anyone who fucks up a brand new iPhone that isn't cheap is a not so smart person. Getting a Plus model 7. I love the iPhone and I don't care if it has the headphone jack or not. I never charge my phone or listen to music at the same time. Only time I charge my phone is at my house and I would use either Spotify or iTunes for music on my iMac.
Because IP ratings are for "accidental damage", not as Samsung fan club members think, carte blanche to water torture their phone. Up to one metre protection will cover for most accidents. But for the teens out there that think its cool to water torture your $900 phone, no good will come of it, IP68 still doesnt protect you from salty water, from steam, from swimming pools. Again IP68 it just there in case.
Why would you ever need IPX8 over IPX7 in a phone? I guess its nice to have, but why would you ever take your phone more than a meter underwater anyway? Its not like you can use it, so the only reason its ever going that deep is by accident, and if its gone over a meter deep that's probably because you dropped and its gone for good anyway!
I just remembered this one time when I dropped my iPhone into my pool and my uncle said he wanted it. We then gave it to him and he bleached the red water damage indacator white
Why would you upgrade a year old phone? its still basically new. Im considering upgrading, I currently have a iPhone 4. I have a reason so be considering this over your 6S because this is the newest and have these small improvements, this water resistance is a peace of mind for me, i ride a motorbike and wear a backpack, my phone is in that pack and if it rains it can easily get wet.
***** I am one to always have the latest iPhone out every year and I pass down the previous one to my children and spouse, but this year I am not so inclined to upgrade. The water resistance is very nice indeed and the new cameras especially for you coming from an iPhone 4, the speed alone is worth the upgrade.
CEELO_DRAWZ Ah, lucky family. Yer I'm excited to upgrade, the big thing for me is the apps, on the 4 like 90% of apps aren't supported or are but barely even work. I do wish they had kept the 3.5mm jack, would of been the perfect phone for me then but either way its a amazing upgrade for me.
I love your videos bc you're creating complete destruction by breaking, bending, cracking, scratching phones that people would die to have but always have that soothing voice that makes everything okay.
They say it's expensive to put it on every single motherboard. It's usually used on products which have low production numbers or small motherboards like earphones.
When your profit margins are as large as Apple's... expensive is a given. No excuse for this. I'm sorry, but I have no engineering degree, but I can see how this would be a seriously smart decision. We are talking about phones that start at $700+? I guess "the most advanced mobile chip in the world" doesn't deserve something that potentially could save them from all the uninformed people that will misinterpret "water resistance" for the "water proof".
Jason Booth But it's apple. You barely got new features with the iphone7, they have the money for everything, but they don't do it. They're probably saving the feature for another iphone to have a selling point.
i would just switch to samsung from my iPhone 5 coz of quite a number of advantages and freedom factors that android has although ill still keep my love on ipads
No android copies apple even though android always comes out with it first apple is better so they copied (lol troll comment making fun of apple fan boys)
Man, I think you should try use water with soap in those mashes. Is something that you can easily find in a bathroom sink and probably can trespass the mash.
Go, go to buy your IPhone 7 or plus if you want. who will stop you? you can do with your money whatever you want, but for me just waiting for the replacement on Samsung note7, because I don't give a shit for battery issues because biggest company like Sony, Apple, Samsung, HTC have had the same problem. And please don't be hypocrites because you're still buying from them. So to be Honest Samsung has done a great importance improvement this year 2016 and Samsung Note7 can be postulated as the best smartphone of 2016~2017 as well. peace out.
***** I think the 7 plus camera will out perform the note 7 camera. It certainly has the better zoom and much better flash. But it might be a close race particularly how quickly it focus and low light performance.
i feel like anyone who is still saying the note has a better camera is a clear fanboy.. i mean seriously the plus has dual cameras.. and real 2x zoom even if it had a single camera they would be very similar... but the note 7 might have better camera than the regular iPhone 7
Bro, read this comment. Until today of my Journey of Watching Apple Reviews Online, you are the only one I fall in love with. Where were you? so many years. You are so point to point and unbaised reviews. You really deserve more viewers. I am your fan since today. Oh man! #EverythingApplePro & even #MKBHD are nothing in your reviews. In the end, it seems like you are true reviewer where others are just faking it on the Internet. They just show whatever #Apple releases. Great Work! You deserve a HatsOff
IKR. Sony is theOG of open port water resistance, and even though Samsung was late to the game they still got ip68. Then Apple comes in with its half assed splash resistance.
Zack, not hating, but you give Samsung and Apple more praise than you had given to Sony, the true pioneer of a water resistant phone. I certainly don't mind since they are more mainstream than Sony's but don't overdo it thinking they have pioneered a new trend of protectiveness P.s, those news with water damage Sony's and Samsung, I would take with a pinch of salt. I have been using the Xperia Z for years and now Z5 with friends using various sony phones and tested in water.. You'd be doing something stupid with it for water to actually get in.
yeah , I agree.. SONY started the trend of water resistant phones... but the first 4 iterations were simply having too many flaps to guard it, not exactly any tech involved. With the z5 , they started flapless water resistance... and perhaps thats why its not credited enough.
simply untrue, the original Z and Z1 maybe, but they had double sided seals that allows them to withstand higher pressure. also for the Z1, they are merely flaps for the power and simple card and SD slot, open aux port and magnetic charging also showed that they are more water resistant than any phone on the market even today. the Z2 body had different design that offered even more seamless watertight body, which was showcased in some slides.
So they made the home button non mechanical and removed the headphone jack to make the device more water proof. But then they added more holes for the faux speaker, and only gets IP676 rating. Whereas the Note 7, still has a clicky home button, still has a headphone jack, as well as an S pen slot and manage to get IP68? Apple isn't even trying..
Don't forget how it happens to a very microscopic part of the people who own it and how it's a better phone in every way for every person every day despite those rare incidents. Nice try though, sheep. ;)
+Frawtarius You're just as big of a sheep towards Samsung if you don't see the flaws in their phones. And before you assume I own an Apple product, I don't. I have the S7 lol But the Note 5 is so much better than the Note 7 in many ways outside of the slight upgrade in specs that the Note 7. Like the Not exploding battery.
Frawtarius You're calling me a sheep . So it happened to a couple of people so what if a "microscopic part of the people" get their face burned so what it's just a "microscopic part of the people"
You did a wonderful thing by dissecting this phone, but there's no need for the negative spin. Nobody ever said that it was waterproof. I also liked how you made a small cutout of the statement that Apple doesn't cover water damage, then zoomed in on it. You gave it the appearance that this information is hidden deep down in the small print somewhere. Clever. This information is clearly listed and not hard to find. I guess the only question I have after your video would be who bought you that iPhone? Haha
I think Apple don't want their iPhone 7 or 7 Plus to last for long time. high specs, tough metal body, but low water resistance & low screen glass protection. Since they are suffering from Drop in sales.. they use that trick. that's my opinion ! btw.. cool video Jerry ;)
Low water resistance is because they only want to protect iPhones from water sprinkles only (e.g. rain, water splash), not underwater use. *It's not* that they want their product to last long.
even water splash can cause damage to the phone. Also Apple said that "Liquid damage not covered under warranty" that means : frequent water splash & your iPhone is dead ! then you have to buy another one.
How can you use it in the shower perfectly fine? When I try to use it in the shower, the screen responds to the water splashing on it as a screen selection.
When I'm bathing the screen is dead. But when showering, it seems responsive and it doesn't have those ghost/water/fake touches. But I have a S7 Edge so maybe that's why.
That's weird. My screen is crazily sensitive to normal touches and doesn't get water touches. But with my phone experience I can honestly say that even two identical phones are really different. Or maybe it has to do something with water type (less or more chemicals added), water temperature or maybe even the distance from the shower head and the phone itself. I have no idea.
Is all Apple fan boys can say is one of the 300+ androids that is out right now battery "explodes"? Don't forget the iPhone bend gate 6? Oh, that was fixed you no the note was fixed to a lot faster and fully covered. Apple just said oh well to the bend gate if you didn't have apple care.
Samsung is more innovative than apple is. we Samsung adds new shit to their phones every new phone that comes out and apple just copies them. you enjoy buying your 160 dollar air pods though and buying an adaptor to use your headphones.
Because the S7 had actual features. They have to make up stuff for the iPhone7 to be special. The IPhone literally removed the jack to improve the resistance rating and it is still worse than the s7.
No they removed the headphone jack as a business "venture", for the lack of a better word. Apple gets more money if they 1) make headphones require the use of proprietary technologies on their phones 2) make 3rd party manufacturers use that proprietary which in turn requires a "Made for Iphone" certification which Apple sells for a fairly hefty price. On top of that they most likely get a cut from each individual sale. Not a bad business practice, but definitely bad for consumers. Also don't fall for that "the future of music" bullshit.
Can anyone remember. When apple release the first iPhone .how great it's was .now oled screen .wireless charging. Frameles design 256 sd would be too much for 2016
Let's see what the future holds. Apple is holding back features to make a sell point with future phones. Right now I believe they're trying to come up with innovations for the iPhone. Right now they have to save them. IDK why not just give all the features now with the cash they have but buissness man.
Zack , just a suggestion mate , perhaps you could show the effect of surface tension with different liquids on mesh that repels water , it might open some peoples eyes ;) .
This breakdown is actually rather impressive in terms of waterproofing, methinks the iPhone really has an IP68 rating, Apple just bumped it down to IP67 for legal purposes.
+MrCoconutCurry1 actually it's a third party battery manufacturer's issue..but Samsung has to pay the price....i hope they have Learned something and bring more refined product s well
+Hydro i agree but it's third party manufacturer's fault who delivered faulty shit.... so samsung will pay for that..but gotta admit I like samsung phone lately
I would like to see a repeated test. Also you may or may not have noticed, water entered the device, as you could see water in the display... Meaning it wouldn't last for long after that and most certainly would NOT be covered by warranty.
For anyone who hasn't seen the video LynX is refering to the phone lasted 25 minutes in 1 meter of water followed by 10 in 1.5 meters. Then they did the 5,10,15,20,30,35 foot test at 5 minutes each only got damaged after 30 but was still some what working and the s7 just straight died.
Matthew Toope The iPhone died not long after, once the water was in it, the components didn't just magically ignore the shorting properties of the salt water for the rest of the phones life... The S7 died but where did the water enter the S7 vs where the water entered the iPhone? I can promise you that as the water slowly made it's way from the bottom of the inside of the iPhone where you can see the screen waterlogged, it would reach the more critical components, thereby killing the iPhone. Calling the iPhone the winner is like calling 1 of 2 guys who fell off a 10 story bridge a survivor even though he died 3 minutes later....
I trust my iPhone 7 Plus’s water resistance for little things like getting out of the pool and using the iPhone, hard rain, washing my hands after using it, but I would never swim with it. I have dropped my phone into a sink that was full of water while I was getting my hair wet, getting ready comb it. Luckily it did survived. I would say I trust my iPhone if it happened to drop in a pool but I wouldn’t test it.
I want to comment about sony, but I guess its apple vs samsung... Sony, great camera, ip68 since a long time, beautiful design ... sorry, no one care about sony
Can I say that I am your new subscriber? And I find you in depth reviews far awesome and superior compare to others are offering. You da best so far & I certainly will make sure that you get more subs. Also your voice is polite and soothing. Thanks! :'D
I always wondered if steam was a problem to the phone, some people use their phones in the sauna of the gyms the work out at but it seems you have answered my question. Thanks for your video it was very informative!
Thank you Jerry ☺️❤️ for this much affort behind this incredible informative video 🥺❤️ love your voice ❤️❤️❤️ now we all understand the science behind ip67
You deserve more subscribers. You take these expensive phones apart and show how they are built from the inside as opposed to just hitting it with a hammer and calling it a video.
Not sure if you saw but, one guy (everythingapplepro) tested both the iphone and galaxy. Iphone survived 5 minutes at 35(ish) feet but was showing signs of water damage while still funtioning. galaxy died at 35 feet. Both very impressive.
I’ve seen people take iPhone 7’s diving just to see how resistant it really is, needless to say though you shouldn’t be swimming or diving with your phone even if it is ipx67 or ipx68 they can both get water in it but both hold up really well submerged. Start watching people test it and you will see that it actually holds up really well and you pretty much have to swim with it or even dive from what I’ve seen.
They should rename it so that people don't confuse the ratings:

Technically he did destroy it. The water on the motherboard probably caused some damage, the water resistant band around the screen is fucked, etc.
No one gives a fuck. FOR SCIENCE!

I would like to see a IP69 flagship smartphone.
Hopefully the next Galaxy.
TURBO BACON I hope so.
Well the galaxy s7 is ip68, so thats the next step up
i guess samsung could do that with their "active" phone since it's highly rubbered so slim and beautiful look doesn't a big problem
IP69 on galaxy s8 plz
Why couldnt Apple achieve IP68? They had the added bonus of loosing the headphone jack. :|
Maybe so people wouldn't submerge it ? Saving it for iPhone 8?
Because IP ratings are for "accidental damage", not as Samsung fan club members think, carte blanche to water torture their phone. Up to one metre protection will cover for most accidents. But for the teens out there that think its cool to water torture your $900 phone, no good will come of it, IP68 still doesnt protect you from salty water, from steam, from swimming pools. Again IP68 it just there in case.
How else will Apple sell the iPhone 8 without the NEW IP68? Smh
Nope you're wrong... Samsung fans usually make calls more than 3 meters underwater....
Why would you ever need IPX8 over IPX7 in a phone?

and gave it to Verizon saying it just stopped working. He ended up getting the newest iPhone for free.

It's pretty obvious that they made it ip67 just so next year they can make it ip68.
It's annoying but from a marketing standpoint it's smart
If you consider smart to mean greedy rather than progress driven then yes
It's called business, you narrow-minded fuck :)
Or.. so no one complains that it didn't meet the expectations when they all try to swim with it like with Sony..
Actually they're just dumb, iPhone 8 and X are still not IP 68

Omg the QR code on the back of my Dbrand case leads to this 😆
Just got the iphone 7 , it's definitely helping me lose weight , now i have no money to eat for 2 months
Why wouldn't they put a nano coating on the motherboard? Jesus... I mean this tech has been around for years now.
They say it's expensive to put it on every single motherboard. It's usually used on products which have low production numbers or small motherboards like earphones.
+Trevor So what exactly explains the phone price then? oh wait it's Apple

I guess the only question I have after your video would be who bought you that iPhone? Haha
The home button is also force touch so that they spent less on waterproofing.
I think Apple don't want their iPhone 7 or 7 Plus to last for long time. high specs, tough metal body, but low water resistance & low screen glass protection. Since they are suffering from Drop in sales.. they use that trick. that's my opinion !
btw.. cool video Jerry ;)
And they don't guarantee anything, of course. I agree with you
yes.. that's why I don't like iPhones
Or maybe apple dont want their phones be used underwater !
All I see is the small corner repair shops making money from reviving wet iphones, nothing more.
I broke my iPhone 6 Plus while trying to replace the glass. Now it's DONE.
I need help destroying it! help me out. Thumbs up so other people can see!
the fact you bought a iphone 6 for personal use and not solely to destroy then no i wont watch.
ok. cool
This test is thorough and consistent. I'm very impressed with your video.
I shower with my s7 edge at times and its still going strong.
Haha same
How can you use it in the shower perfectly fine? When I try to use it in the shower, the screen responds to the water splashing on it as a screen selection.
When I'm bathing the screen is dead. But when showering, it seems responsive and it doesn't have those ghost/water/fake touches. But I have a S7 Edge so maybe that's why.
ProtoDeV Nano I have an S7 Edge as well and it responds to the water so well it's annoying.
I have no idea.
ip 69😐😏
Cum resistance
Bruhhh
M m.
Ww
Wtf this was the first time in my life when I saw the number 69 and didn't think about sex.
Am I getting old?
it's water resistants not waterproof.
Great mood, pretty educational... keep the videos coming Zack!
Will it break in the rain? With a back covering case on it? When it’s slightly pooring?
Is all Apple fan boys can say is one of the 300+ androids that is out right now battery "explodes"? Don't forget the iPhone bend gate 6? Oh, that was fixed you no the note was fixed to a lot faster and fully covered. Apple just said oh well to the bend gate if you didn't have apple care.
Now we have Samsung fold LOL
why no body make this type of video on Samsung S7?
Cuz samsung aint shit
Samsung is more innovative than apple is. we Samsung adds new shit to their phones every new phone that comes out and apple just copies them. you enjoy buying your 160 dollar air pods though and buying an adaptor to use your headphones.
Because the S7 had actual features. They have to make up stuff for the iPhone7 to be special. The IPhone literally removed the jack to improve the resistance rating and it is still worse than the s7.
Because .. apple videos are bait for the samsung herd=more money! Thats why !
Also don't fall for that "the future of music" bullshit.
damn apple why not go the extra steps of waterproofing. we are paying for it
Because having water resistance with basically the same design is really hard
Can anyone remember. When apple release the first iPhone .how great it's was .now oled screen .wireless charging. Frameles design 256 sd would be too much for 2016
Let's see what the future holds. Apple is holding back features to make a sell point with future phones. Right now I believe they're trying to come up with innovations for the iPhone. Right now they have to save them. IDK why not just give all the features now with the cash they have but buissness man.
the water damage indicator gets its period when water touches it XD
LOL!
XD
Omg you didn't... xD
stop. just, just no.
NEVER STOP
Zack , just a suggestion mate , perhaps you could show the effect of surface tension with different liquids on mesh that repels water , it might open some peoples eyes ;) .
This breakdown is actually rather impressive in terms of waterproofing, methinks the iPhone really has an IP68 rating, Apple just bumped it down to IP67 for legal purposes.
Samsung even managed to waterproof the headphone jack....hahahahahahahhaa....moment of truth crapple... #teamandroid
#ANDROIDSUCKSCOCKTHEYHADSEXEACHDAYTHEYRESTRIPPERTHEYSUCKDICK#SAMSUNGCOPIEDAPPLE
The galaxy phones never had an issue with exploding, genius. That was the Note 7
+MrCoconutCurry1 actually it's a third party battery manufacturer's issue..but Samsung has to pay the price....i hope they have Learned something and bring more refined product s well
+Hydro i agree but it's third party manufacturer's fault who delivered faulty shit.... so samsung will pay for that..but gotta admit I like samsung phone lately
you mean water resistant....
I may just have IP67 but I'm faster than the S7 in the Geekbench scores.
I saw a video and the guy put an iphone 7 and S7 in a bucket and put it deeper than 30-40 feet under water and the iPhone outlived the s7
vbtyfegtuiuldfdafsvhjpllm ,.
This is really awesome! Could you do one where you compare the previous generation 6s+ and compare it with the current iphone 7?
samsung still the best ip68
But that blast radius though
It's because for when the battery explodes they want you to be safe underwater
YEAH I GOT THE S7 EDGE AND IT DROPPED FROM POCKET HEIGHT WHILE SITTING ON A CHAIR AND THE SCREEN CRACKED WTF SAMSUNG!!!!!
Ahh those explosion jokes are really getting old now. Kudos though, you tried.
^ BOOM
I want to comment about sony, but I guess its apple vs samsung...
Sony, great camera, ip68 since a long time, beautiful design
...
sorry, no one care about sony
dedoyxp sony had phone 😮😮😮
Nothing's waterproof, even dive watches are typically water RESISTANT to 200m
sheets are
water is
except water
soooo good video man. Thanks for your excellent quality footage! double thumbs UP!
I had to subcribe to u .. Man ur explaining is awesome and so is the way u talk and provide information .. all the best
Samsung Galaxy S7 is best for water proofing But IPhone 7 is not !!🤓
AKS MINER nah ip69 is best, not ip68
@@matthew3p but iPhone has ip 67 and s7 has ip 68 which is better than iPhones
Ro_In Pro yea ok but he was saying it was best for waterproofing and not about 2 phones.
Matthew Stead I am TELLING TO U NOT TO HIM kiddo
You should start an ASMR channel xD
again :v cheap ass built phone sold at a high big ass price
-apple business strategy
-people just buy it to show off
-just because its expensive xd
Your point is? Lmfao
point is the iphone at best is basically worthless.
exactly
Carlos Sanchez Yea but galaxy phones are more innovative now unlike the iphone 6 and 7 they brought nothing new.
Carlos Sanchez fair so i guess it is pointless to argue over plastic that is what we have been doing but it is fun every now and again.
Can I say that I am your new subscriber?
And I find you in depth reviews far awesome and superior compare to others are offering. You da best so far & I certainly will make sure that you get more subs. Also your voice is polite and soothing. Thanks! :'D

So it has 1960 mah battery. Duh! #nobodycares
I've had my iPhone 7 since it came out and listen to music everyday in the shower. it still works perfectly.
Please do a durability test on the Nomu S50 Pro.
It's IP 69 water-resistant.
I always wondered if steam was a problem to the phone, some people use their phones in the sauna of the gyms the work out at but it seems you have answered my question. Thanks for your video it was very informative!
Subscribed. This channel actually INFORMS and doesn't destroy shit just to destroy shit.
Solid video. I appreciate this. Who else is gonna open the iPhone 7 this early?
Thank you Jerry ☺️❤️ for this much affort behind this incredible informative video 🥺❤️ love your voice ❤️❤️❤️ now we all understand the science behind ip67
Beautifully demonstrated Jerry !
You deserve more subscribers. You take these expensive phones apart and show how they are built from the inside as opposed to just hitting it with a hammer and calling it a video.
Your videos are a treat and for tech guy you have a good sense of humor; end result quality entertainment.
Not sure if you saw but, one guy (everythingapplepro) tested both the iphone and galaxy. Iphone survived 5 minutes at 35(ish) feet but was showing signs of water damage while still funtioning. galaxy died at 35 feet. Both very impressive.
Wow, you really make some great videos. Explanation for everything. Keep up the good work !
Thanks for the IP6x explanation! Was wondering about that.
your voice is the most satisfying sound i've ever heard'
Wow... you should get more subs.. This is the only "no blullshit" YT channel ive seens so far. Good job mate.
So the speaker holes to the left of the charging port is not a speaker just a microphone?
Why no mention of Sony's water proofing? They started the IP68 before Samsung did...
great video as always!! finally i know what does the IP numbers stand for!
Just watch EverthingApplePro's deep water test video for a better real life test. Anyway, great video man!
Well done with this video. Quite in depth.
I’ve seen people take iPhone 7’s diving just to see how resistant it really is, needless to say though you shouldn’t be swimming or diving with your phone even if it is ipx67 or ipx68 they can both get water in it but both hold up really well submerged. Start watching people test it and you will see that it actually holds up really well and you pretty much have to swim with it or even dive from what I’ve seen.
its amazing how u didnt get 1m subs by now for this amazing channel
I've used my Galaxy S5 to "read" in the shower for a little above two years now. It's still in perfect working condition.
