It's not even IP67 it's IPX7 which is water-resistant with NO dust resistance. Most other phones have moved on to IP68 (completely water and dust PROOF)

No, that is not the reason because the charging port is closed and therefore no matter how much water goes inside of it the charging port water can't get inside the actual phone. As long as you don't charge the phone for 4 hours (or something like that).
Every component supposed to be 'closed off'. Using your theory, the phone would be able to survive in water for ever at every depth... The thing it, it needs to fail somewhere and the port could be the culprit, at least if you allow it to fail, which is not the case in this video.

I fell in water at boat with phone in my pocket, I dove in after 2.5 hours and finally got phone out of water and It works...... pretty sweeeeet, I Just knew I'd need a new phone... Kudos to Apple.

I just dropped my iphone 7 into the sink for 5 seconds at least, and then I opened it which I noticed that the home button isnt working properly. I turned it off, dry it off, vacummed the vater out, and tried the rice trick. After 3 days I checked it again and....its dead I even tried charging it.

I fell in water at boat with phone in my pocket, I dove in after 2.5 hours and finally got phone out of water and It works...... pretty sweeeeet, I Just knew I'd need a new phone... Kudos to Apple.
