Old SpongeBob (example episode: can you spare a dime) Squidward gets fired because Mr.Krabs thinks he stole from him and lives on the streets untill SpongeBob offers him to live at his house. He gets used to not working. This proceeds him to take advantage of SpongeBob. When SpongeBob realizes this he learns he has to stand up for himself. He gets squidward his job back resolving the conflict. It’s simple yet effective and still manages to have great jokes New SpongeBob (example: this episode) insert some reference to a better episode. Have some guy lick everything. And Mr.Krabs comes in and says maybe you shouldn’t have a creepy guy come in and lick everything in the restaurant. Yep that’s the entire plot.
Not to mention the constant dumb faces they need to pull off in every single.damn.frame. It is genuinely distracting and a prime example of overanimation.

"The Main Drain" also has SpongeBob cleaning the grill with his tongue, but at least that one is only a story because of course we can't have an episode just end with the entire ocean being drained by a plug, despite SpongeBob's lack of continuity.

From clips I've seen in videos like these (I refuse to watch even one episode fully on Nickelodeon), I have noticed that modern-er Spongebob can't hold off from stock cartoon sound effects for even three seconds. Can't keep the eyes of the iPad kids on the show through its overly-wacky movement alone, apparently.
What bugged me the most, is the fact THAT IT'S STILL DIRTY AS HELL. Saliva is not clean at all... Plus your mouth can carry a load of diseases. Yes it's dumb to complain about logic in a kid's show... But I can roast it if the main character is a cleaning tool... Atleast they used a new character instead of Patrick.
Jokes aside, the creature at the beginning of the episode is creepy as hell. I guess, if SpongeBob's modern animators make something based on King's or Lovecraft's stories, that'll be a nice horror cartoon.

I’m getting a sinking feeling they’re offloading episode writing to generative AI at this point, because this isn’t following any kind of coherent plot structure. The Krusty Krab is a mess, a guy comes in and helps clean, it goes to far and then he just leaves? That’s… the entire episode. There was no real conflict here, it was just a series of increasingly ridiculous events. Also forgetting that the whole set up for this relied on the kitchen not being a mess is very much a mistake an AI would make, not so much a real person.

This episode was more weird than bad. It wasn't a good episode but the levels of strangeness were really ramped up to the point the badness kind of got overshadowed. And I don't mean weird in a good way, I mean just everything from the plot, to the character, to even the audio quality was just really off and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. There are definitely worse episodes than this. But overall this one just made me feel "abnormal" after watching it.

Yo that's Richard Ayoade voicing Sammy! Love his work! He and Matt Berry, who have co-starred in a few things in the past, have been getting a lot of voice work recently. Though I wish they used his normal speaking pattern in this episode instead of hamming up America's British stereotype.

Richard Ayoade is another wasted celebrity, we've already had plenty of those in SpongeBob. Don't even get me started on Saul Hudson appears in a trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, but all of is scenes are deleted from the actual movie itself.
I find seasons 6-9, despite being the worst era, much better than this current seasons.

This one is a Mary Poppins parody, and the Atlantis David Bowie one is a Willy Wonka Parody
The whole episode is based on Mary Poppins.

But seriously, this is episode is off the wall but not even in a funny way. How is this not boring/grating to kids?
This episode was more weird than bad. It wasn't a good episode but the levels of strangeness were really ramped up to the point the badness kind of got overshadowed.
And I don't mean weird in a good way, I mean just everything from the plot, to the character, to even the audio quality was just really off and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. There are definitely worse episodes than this. But overall this one just made me feel "abnormal" after watching it.
Remember: Licking doorknobs is illegal on other planets. Hey, if the show can randomly reference the much better classic episodes then so can I.

I’m from the UK. I hate the fake accent in this episode. I’m a Londoner and I think they’re trying to do a voice from someone in central London. Nobody here sounds like that. Also, the episode is just disgusting. What the hell. Why are they licking the bathroom floor.

Yo that's Richard Ayoade voicing Sammy! Love his work! He and Matt Berry, who have co-starred in a few things in the past, have been getting a lot of voice work recently. Though I wish they used his normal speaking pattern in this episode instead of hamming up America's British stereotype.

I think the reason why the British fish's voice sounds annoying is in no small part because it was recorded weirdly, there is some noise in the voice-line recordings that makes it sound uncanny...
