@@quangamershyguyyz7166 Thing is: most horrible human beings aren’t damn Yoshikage Kira or Diavolo. You can find out about the horridness of actual humans decently easily, especially now.
Stephen Hillenburg was lucky. He wasn’t scared with being a freak in an industry full of creeps. He died doing what he loved, and even though Nick will continue to spit on his grave and drive his legacy into the dirt, milking it for all its worth. It’s a more worthwhile end than most. Rest in peace, Stephen.
Stephen Hillenburg Craig Bartlett John A. Davis Arlene Klasky & Gábor Csupó Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko All these people were responsible for creating such iconic Nicktoons without a single creepy urge in their bodies.
@@michaelstrong5383 pretty sure Klasky and Csupó were hard to work with back then, but that's just 'cause they were very strict with their work (hell, the staff used to vent frustration IN the show, like that one doctor Lipschitz exists just 'cause the staff used him to vent about Klasky and Csupó). And even so, they never reached John K.'s level of insane strict (hard to top a sex pest AND sadist).
Cartoonshi has actually talked a lot about how the myth that Hillenburg wouldn't have approved SpongeBob spin-offs is disrespectful towards him and current SpongeBob writers.
it's honestly kind of incredible how Nickelodeon seems to have gone out of its way to do everything in their power to make people hate them -cancelling good and/or promising shows because they didn't rake in the same views as their most popular series -treating their creators and staff terribly (is that redundant due to the above?) -relying on only one show way too much -releasing mediocre to bad shows in rapid succession -and above all, becoming a haven for sex offenders!
@@Elvusmiw how is he not a Sex offender exactly? like, even if he didn't physically touch anyone, I'm pretty sure stuff like the feet thing would count as sexual assault or harassment in some way if someone made a kid suck on a suspiciously shaped popsicle so they could film it, watch it and... do stuff with it later, I think it's fair to say that's sexual abuse even if the kid wasn't harmed or didn't know what was going on and considering how the actors WERE harmed, I feel like they have even more legal ground to stand on admittedly I'm not that well versed in what was happening, but I know it wasn't good
Kids just don't matter to television anymore. Back in the 90s kids were on a pedestal. Morning cartoons on every channel. Entire channels dedicated to them. Streaming has ruined entertainment.
There was a shocking period in the early - mid 2010s when Nicktoons, the channel where cartoons go to die, actually had better & more diverse programming than Nickelodeon proper. They'd play 90s classics at night, They'd play a bunch of their dead or dying shows like Danny Phantom, Invader Zim & countless other shows that ended too early or they had a loyal following like Avatar
It is now literally the "SpongeBob channel". Nicktoons advertises on their TV channel that they play SpongeBob all day, every day. You may occasionally get a Patrick Star show episode in there, but that is it. I'm not even sure if that can generate money
dude I loved Harvey beaks so much when it came out I miss it with my entire soul and it's one of the reasons why I made the switch to CN because of its cancelation
CN is not too much better. And nor is Disney Channel. I feel like if you don't like sudden cancellations, then indie is really your only bet. It's a systemic problem with television animation. Wonder why Sonic SatAm ended on a cliffhanger?
I always remembered Nickelodeon for its smaller shows like Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, Ni Hao Kai Lan, and Yo Gabba Gabba. I did also watch Dora the Explorer and Blue's Clues, but those first four I mentioned made up a good majority of my childhood. It sucks that Nickelodeon doesn't give those shows the love they deserve, because all of those were entertaining in their own ways.
Speaking of Nick jr sometimes I think they had a better lineup than the normal channel in the 2010’s. They had 2000’s left overs like Dora, fresh beat band, ni Hao Kai lan, backyardigans, & wonder pets with great 2010’s shows like team Umizoomi, bubble guppies, and wallykazam if you remember that. Early 2010’s Nick jr was a great time bc it seemed like every show was there (even little bill for a short while)
Seeing my favorite TV networks I used to love growing up fall from grace so hard is like watching my childhood getting stabbed to death over and over again.
If Steven Hillenberg was granted more creative control over SpongeBob and allow it to end it after the first movie, we could be living in another Nicktoon golden age.
nah nick was going to go off the rails regardless ik spongebob further accelerated it but nick was looking for that one show to take over from rugrats as the undisputed top dog if it wasn't the sponge it prolly would've been a fop or even jimmy neutron tbh as that was fairly popular back then but i do agree if it was going to be an fop or jimmy neutron it would've been more like when rugrats was big where it was big but not the biggest and had healthy competition from others it prolly would've fell off but would've had a silver age or somethin doubt it was going to be golden.
@@joshuabautch8936The fanbase for the show can not handle criticism on any metric so anytime he would take a look at it, he’d get bombarded with harassment.
I can’t forgive Nick for throwing out perfectly fine shows just because they didn’t being in “SpongeBob views”,robot and monster deserved better god damm it
Same thing could be said about the other shows nickelodeon screwed over: Harvey Beaks, Making Fiends, Invader Zim, Chalkzone, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and that's just to name a few.
How to summarize Nickelodeon 1990’s: All 3 Children’s Networks were in their embryonic phase but It was off to a great start (Especially Nickelodeon) 2000’s: Not just the peak of Nickelodeon in quality, but the peak of Nickelodeon in ambition (I think Invader Zim and Avatar 2005 were the top 2 most expensive animated children shows across the three networks) 2010’s: A pretty big downgrade in quality, but at least kept its popularity and a few ok shows 2020’s: Officially had no telecast that reached 1 million views since January 2020, and SpongeBob officially died out
1990s Nickelodeon also had Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida which was like the first time for a regular kid outside of Los Angeles that you could experience on what film or television production was actually like. However, due to the state of Florida being a “right to work” state aka non-unionized and the state being way too hot and humid for regular film production many of the producers preferred to just film in LA and not have to fly over to Florida all the time. Which was often one of if not the main reason why Nickelodeon Studios had met its demise by 2005 after being open for 15 years of operation. As well as the network moving towards working on animated programming rather than just game shows or live action sitcoms by the late 90s. Case in point, the studio at Florida wasn’t equipped for making animated tv programming.
I used to never understand why people hated the 2010s era, i thought it was just, meh, ok, this was until I saw the line-up of nick-released shows. I'm not in America so our Nick just aired a bunch of random other shows, had less spongebob airing, and also aired older shows for the first time once they got translated.
nah idk which country you were in but i was from the uk and was a kid during the 2010s era and it was bad and not good at all with what we had to get through tbh nicks rot didn't begin in the 2010s era it had been bad before this starting rlly in the mid 2000s the 2010s is when the rot fully set in
In the UK, the main Nickelodeon was just live action shows with SpongeBob and one random Nicktoon that would leave and come when they felt like it. Nicktoons was where all the cartoons were. Thankfully, not anymore but now this sort of just renders Nicktoons useless and only has SpongeBob, Loud House and ALVINNN marathons.
It's hard to believe Nickelodeon was the same channel that gave us Avatar: The Last Airbender. Even back then, it never really seem to fit with their channel.
True I non-stop watched it every week night, the only thing that always bothered me is the fact how late it was always played, they played one Episode at 22:30
Spongebob had his 25th anniversary this year, and what did we get? THE worst thing to come out of Nickelodeon in the history of their existence (Saving Bikini Bottom), Nickelodeon milking every single area of SpongeBob where they can with multiple collabs and brand deals that either aren't good or just painfully mid, and Nick themselves being exposed multiple times for things that could and should be considered a federal crime.

At least we got to taste a REAL Krabby Patty at Wendy's.
However that's also nickelodeon being rubbish as one of Steven hillenburgs wishes was for the krabby patty to NEVER be real (as he knew corporations would milk the brand as its towards children like how he also didn't want official crossovers)

@@KittyKPlayz Hillenburg had very little say-so, even when he was alive. Nicktoons Unite was created against his wishes, and Patchy the Pirate guest starred on Big Time Rush, and Doug Lawrence was introduced as "the voice of Plankton" on one of the Schneider-coms (forget which one, though)
Nickelodeon only cared about Spongebob and Loud House because their the only show that cracked high viewership despite the quality decline. And people wondering why they stop watching things on Nick as they're sick and tired of seeing the only two cartoon shows that are airing and even they do finally bring an original show, they'll treat it poorly resulting in dumping on to nicktoons.
this is why the formula worked in the 90s don't get me wrong rugrats was big but you had healthy competition from other shows meaning it wasn't just rugrats ummm tbf even in the early 2000s they continued this formula with spongebob for a bit they only rlly started to go fully in with the spongebob train starting from 2004 and since then it's been the spongebob and loud house network with no space to grow for other shows it's a damn shame bc had they not gone fully in with spongebob nick prolly would've been a fairly popular network unlike how it is now
Loud house got lucky because people were tired of spongebob and chipmunks being marathoned on the main channel all the time and even then loud house is garbage for it's writing.
I used to be a hardcore Nick fanboy when I was like 8, I would defend their awful programming to death, mainly just because I liked SpongeBob. Eventually though I realized that CN and Disney Channel had been putting out higher quality series in general and to be honest, I think Nick might be the weakest out of the three in terms of overall history. It could be argued that Avatar is better than any show put out by Disney or CN, but other than that, I really don’t believe Nicks show lineup is really as strong as the others, even considering their 90’s series.
Glitch techs and Harvey beaks definitely deserved better, not to mention My life as a teenage robot and el Tigre had better ratings than the god awful Patrick Star show🤦🏾♂️.
Nickelodeon, back in the 90s, was a juggernaut. The reason I got introduced to the 90s Nick shows were because of my sister and they all were bangers because they actually cared about what kids watched and what was kids interested in, but in a more genuine way. In the 2010's, they basically just want to be a sanitized corporation rather than be creative anymore.
As one of those kids who watched breadwinners and really liked it, I was genuinely SHOCKED to go back to it and see how well it held up to my adult sensibilities. I used to watch it with my parents who also genuinely liked it, even referencing it to this day. It’s kinda this funny little inside joke in our family.
tbh whilst that is good for you and obv everyone has a different perspective imma have to disagree with you on this breadwinners was a crap show and i hated it even as a kid i just felt it was disgusting and not enjoyable whatsoever when you consider on the other side you had uncle grandpa, clarence and we bare bears which all dropped around the same time of breadwinners it kind of makes breadwinners look forgettable and annoying and just bad in comparison
I was an young adult when Breadwinners came out, but some of my younger relatives watched and I saw some bits and it seemed very annooying, the designs were weird and while the animation was sometimes nice and energetic it kind of made the same mistakes that all cartoons have to be constantly moving to grab kids' attention. The only major positive I can say is that the voice acting was great, at least the Neutral Spanish dub, which is the version I saw, where SwaySway had the same voice as Billy from Billy & Mandy and Jim from Trollhunters, while Buhdeuce had the same voice as Star-Lord, Legoshi from Beastars and Buster Bunny in Tiny Toons: Looniversity
I also remember breadwinners fondly. I would watch it while eating lunch after coming home from school. Yes, it was very stupid, but I had a good time.
Both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are no longer the animation powerhouses I want to trust anymore, after all the damage that has been going on with their companies. I'll still love their cartoons, but I'm done sticking up with them. This makes me feel more proud for Xilam and indie animation.
What's crazy is how fast it happened to Cartoon Network. People could name a ton of quality 2010s CN shows. People still made fun of the bad shows, but still acknowledged CN was doing well. Until it wasn't.
Let's not forget about how Nickelodeon treated power rangers. Seriously how do you fuck up a property like power rangers this hard? Disney did better with this franchise than Nickelodeon. Same with Hasbro.
one of the biggest problems in general is that the internet and handheld devices have completely taken away Children's attention spans. I'm not a doomer that's gonna say "kids have ZERO attention span", but any 9 year old with an iphone would rather just browse youtube to find the exact content they want with little to no ads (much of it brainrot or specifically made play on children's attention spans) and stare at that all day. As a result there are much less kids watching Nick/Disney/CN and thus a larger percentage of the networks' audiences are adults who are only there for the shows they grew up on. This makes it extremely hard for new shows to gain a footing that makes the executives of these dying networks want to keep them around over just re-running proven money-makers.

Exactly. But to be honest, Nick's not doing much. They need to bring back NickRewind to compete with Checkered Past. They need to rerun the classics - Rugrats, Jimmy Neutron, Rocko, daytime Ren and Stimpy, and much, much more.
It actually really saddens me, back in the day Nickelodeon had enough to keep a kid entertained for YEARS. and now it's just spongebob, the series about the boy with idk 12 sisters and thats pretty much it. Saddening.
The fact that Glitch Techs got prematurely canceled perfectly demonstrates how far contemporary Nickelodeon has plummeted. It just seems every network, company, business, etc. is just all cash grabs and less passion. It especially hurts for people who dreamed of getting their own made cartoons greenlit for whichever network they see is available. I'm beginning to believe the only way we'll ever get new, unprecedented cartoons these days is if the television gets new channels.
I find it funny that Nickelodeon decided to hire the guy who made the Johnny The Homicidal Maniac comics to make a show for pre-teens and then cancelled said show because it was too dark for little kids
Nowadays the only 2 things Nickelodeon care about are SpongeBob and Loud House, hence why we’re getting all these spinoffs and movies focusing on the two shows
As someone who actually caught quite a few episodes of Rock Paper Scissors on TV, I gotta say it's actually pretty good. Sure the animation isn't the best quality and a couple of episodes lean more towards lowbrow humor, but most of the show is really witty and charming, the characters all have fun dynamics with each other, and even if some jokes don't land, they're delivered in such a charming way that you can't help but have a good time with it. I highly recommend people give it a chance, especially because for a while it seemed like it was gonna be the show that reached Spongebob and Loud House's level of success, but is now falling behind
Nickelodeon died, when SpongeBob became the only relevant thing in it (even after the death of the creator) they still continue pumping out brainrotted episodes which are not even close to the OG 3 seasons
yh this is the truth it basically started to fall off a cliff beginning in 2004 and tbh there is stats to back this up bc if you compare the animated nick shows that came out between 1991-2004 there is a far better library there then in comparison to the ones which have come out between 2005 onwards now and even the good shows from 05 onwards were never given a good chance like el tigre or harvey beaks
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 Exactly. I don't think people would like if they tried to copy that "typical" kind of humor today, they would call it "nostalgia baiting" or a pale imitation. Seasons 4 and 5 are, in my opinion, the closest to the first three. I personally consider the first 5 seasons the best. (My favorite since is season 11.) After a while, you have to shake up the writing, otherwise it would feel formulaic - and not in a good way.
probably not, they’ll just write off their newer shows (except The Loud House) and leave the 90’s-early 2000’s untouched thanks to that iconic Nicktoon brand they killed for “preservation” after 2011.
4:45 Okay but, real talk, what the heck is with people having... THAT kind of thing for seeing Kitty getting hurt or humiliated in some way? Because I swear there was a time where I couldn't open up UA-cam without seeing at least one video where Kitty gets hurt or otherwise humiliated in some fashion popping up in my recommendations... Edit: In summary... *Goomba*
Nickelodeon poorly treating shows (Glitch Techs, Harvey Beaks, and Making Fiends especially) always comes to mind when I think of the network, they deserved better. I’m worried about Max and the Midknights. Nick barely advertised it and I haven’t heard anyone talking about it since its premiere… It’s sad because it’s another adaptation of a Lincoln Peirce story that’s going to get treated poorly (like, my jaw dropped when the Big Nate show got removed from Paramount+. I guess Nick just wanted people to pirate it, then…).
Fun fact: The first few seasons of Adventure Time actually re-ran on Nickelodeon in Germany for a couple years (as did Gumball but I digress). Iirc it had to do with Cartoon Network being a paid channel in the country while Nickelodeon was free, but don't quote me on that.
There's a whole still active fandom of it xD And the Quirty Quota guys started reacting to it Too bad show didn't go far as needed to continue some plots or returning of some characters (bestgirlVega and maboiKenny :'v)

Maybe it’ll get cult classic memes in the future that’ll encourage a new generation in the future to give it another shot, or better, maybe there’ll be fans that’ll animate the next season based on the storyboards provided
I loved Breadwinners when I was 11, high-functioning autistic and still do! I l might’ve lost my innocence to this but its influence led me to create my two ocs, Kyra and Kara on my DA I wish it would return or at least be adapted into a movie 🥺
Robot and Monster had some potential. Mainly because there was going to be an episode reveal of Robot's father being kidnapped by pirates or something but never happened.
13:43 Yes, we like Knuckles. Ironically enough, outside of the South Park specials, Tales of the TMNT, The Offer, Beavis & Butthead or the Frasier revivals; the Knuckles TV show was the only thing that actually made people interested in getting a Paramount + subscription. That's the only reason I got susbcribed. And the numbers don't lie, it surpassed the subscription rate that the Halo show gave them, Paramount finally gave the people a reason to be use their service. And you know it's bad it is when not even the season 2 of Halo could even bring up the audience back due to how bad if a first impression it gave to the fans. And don't worry the season 2 barely improves the show in general.
@AutZentus Absolutely but, go ask Paramount why they decided to make live action Knuckles show. A show that has main CG characters that need much more investment due to requiring VFX work to look pleasing to the eyes compared to an animated TV show which would have gave them much more liberty to work with. And why they gave them a budget on par with TED show; which is already expensive for what it is; but they wasted $200 million per season on another sci-fi show that not even the people involved cared about the source material.
I'm gonna say the same thing about this network as I did on LS Mark' s video: Nickelodeon has no resurgence, unlike Disney Channel or Cartoon Network. Just nothing but over 10 years of bad shows, bad decisions, and bad actors on the studio.

Kids just don't matter to television anymore. Back in the 90s kids were on a pedestal. Morning cartoons on every channel. Entire channels dedicated to them. Streaming has ruined entertainment.
bro how has streaming ruined entertainment?
Lmao bro, if streaming becomed that popular was because tv was awful at the time
0:15 Thank God someone who's self aware
I think we all know where this is going so let's just skip to the end.
There was a shocking period in the early - mid 2010s when Nicktoons, the channel where cartoons go to die, actually had better & more diverse programming than Nickelodeon proper. They'd play 90s classics at night, They'd play a bunch of their dead or dying shows like Danny Phantom, Invader Zim & countless other shows that ended too early or they had a loyal following like Avatar
dragon ball occasionally
Early 2010s nicktoons was goated, used to watch it more than the actual nick channel
Then CN became even worse
CN is not exactly much better
That would never have happened
nah nick was going to go off the rails regardless ik spongebob further accelerated it but nick was looking for that one show to take over from rugrats as the undisputed top dog if it wasn't the sponge it prolly would've been a fop or even jimmy neutron tbh as that was fairly popular back then but i do agree if it was going to be an fop or jimmy neutron it would've been more like when rugrats was big where it was big but not the biggest and had healthy competition from others it prolly would've fell off but would've had a silver age or somethin doubt it was going to be golden.
Nick would need to get it's head out of it's butt

I thought that show was just some dream I had for such a long time. I only recently found out it actually existed.
I keep saying that one episode where Mr. Krabs turns the entire restaurant into Spongebob merchandise was the actual mindset of Nickelodeon.
How to summarize Nickelodeon
1990’s: All 3 Children’s Networks were in their embryonic phase but It was off to a great start (Especially Nickelodeon)
2000’s: Not just the peak of Nickelodeon in quality, but the peak of Nickelodeon in ambition (I think Invader Zim and Avatar 2005 were the top 2 most expensive animated children shows across the three networks)
2010’s: A pretty big downgrade in quality, but at least kept its popularity and a few ok shows
2020’s: Officially had no telecast that reached 1 million views since January 2020, and SpongeBob officially died out
1990s Nickelodeon also had Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida which was like the first time for a regular kid outside of Los Angeles that you could experience on what film or television production was actually like.
More like a CN show right
A shame, too. You’d think that Avatar’s success would convince them to try more experimental and grand shows.
And Invader Zim, you would have thought that show was airing right next to Courage with the things that happened in the show
True
I non-stop watched it every week night, the only thing that always bothered me is the fact how late it was always played, they played one Episode at 22:30
Spongebob had his 25th anniversary this year, and what did we get?
Worse than One Coarse Meal, a Pal For Gary, No Such Luck or anything else that Nick has ever done?

Nickelodeon only cared about Spongebob and Loud House because their the only show that cracked high viewership despite the quality decline. And people wondering why they stop watching things on Nick as they're sick and tired of seeing the only two cartoon shows that are airing and even they do finally bring an original show, they'll treat it poorly resulting in dumping on to nicktoons.
this is why the formula worked in the 90s don't get me wrong rugrats was big but you had healthy competition from other shows meaning it wasn't just rugrats ummm tbf even in the early 2000s they continued this formula with spongebob for a bit they only rlly started to go fully in with the spongebob train starting from 2004 and since then it's been the spongebob and loud house network with no space to grow for other shows it's a damn shame bc had they not gone fully in with spongebob nick prolly would've been a fairly popular network unlike how it is now
Nick doesn’t care about tlh anymore…
Loud house got lucky because people were tired of spongebob and chipmunks being marathoned on the main channel all the time and even then loud house is garbage for it's writing.
@@rodrigomontalvo910 Go riddance, that show's writing was crap.

As one of those kids who watched breadwinners and really liked it, I was genuinely SHOCKED to go back to it and see how well it held up to my adult sensibilities. same omg i reference it constantly because it was just so stupid and funny 💀
tbh whilst that is good for you and obv everyone has a different perspective imma have to disagree with you on this breadwinners was a crap show and i hated it even as a kid i just felt it was disgusting and not enjoyable whatsoever when you consider on the other side you had uncle grandpa, clarence and we bare bears which all dropped around the same time of breadwinners it kind of makes breadwinners look forgettable and annoying and just bad in comparison
Bro that show was hell for as a kid it’s the most annoying thing I’ve watched at that age

one of the biggest problems in general is that the internet and handheld devices have completely taken away Children's attention spans.

Spongebob doesn’t have to be exactly like the first 3 seasons to be good. It’s perfectly fine to not be
yh this is the truth it basically started to fall off a cliff beginning in 2004 and tbh there is stats to back this up bc if you compare the animated nick shows that came out between 1991-2004 there is a far better library there then in comparison to the ones which have come out between 2005 onwards now and even the good shows from 05 onwards were never given a good chance like el tigre or harvey beaks

The knuckles show would have been better if it wasn't more about wade whipple.
I absolutely think Nickelodeon had a downfall in the late 00s, but I liked to tune in to Back in the Barnyard, when channel zapping.

And he does that by giving them producers a hit and automatically makes his offer to be in anything he wants
I'm gonna say the same thing about this network as I did on LS Mark' s video: Nickelodeon has no resurgence, unlike Disney Channel or Cartoon Network. Just nothing but over 10 years of bad shows, bad decisions, and bad actors on the studio.
Disney Channel is the least likely actually... Nickelodeon and CN can exist as brands in a post-cable world. Disney Channel is literally just Disney with the word "Channel" slapped on. When cables inevitably dies, there will be no difference between something like Toy Story and something like Phineas and Ferb.
If you change the color of Nickelodeon logo to white, that exactly what will came out of Dan Schneider everytime foot show up on TV.
3:59 I not only know of this show, I also have probably watched every episode aired for it. I feel I've watched a lot of forgotten/disregarded tween sitcoms back in the 2010's. Who else is gonna bring up *Mr. Young* as a show they grew up watching.
Same
Caught it a few times while airing. I think it was about a family moving into a house haunted by a family of ghosts
@@ghastlygavin yeah and only they could see the ghost family, the mom also had a bakery
