    This is so cool. I was just looking at buying one of these mills but I need some wider bits to mill out some roughly 3D printed holes.
    I was thinking, why doesn't someone just make a bit themselves. They have a mill and all! Lol.
    I'm sold.

    I use a hole saw cutter to cut flat surfacing.
    Remove a center drill, it could be used for flat surfacing.

    Brilliant! Just acquired a Proxxon MF70 mill so this answers very well a question I have had ... Can it do REAL milling and you have proven, yes it can despite being a small low powered system. I'm retired so have the time to make 40 x 1 thou passes rather than 4 x 10 thou passes or even 1x 40 thou pass. Nice simple job! 👍👍👍

      No. Dont confuse his machine with the one youll receive. Its a dremal tool with cross slide. Id like one for doing engraving work but not going to pay 400+ for it. Mind as well just go on ebay and get the super cheap extruded aluminum one that comes with a rotary table/4th axis.

    What is the chuck and base you use on 5:55? Is it included on Proton? If yes I'm buying the MF70 tomorrow.
    Thanks nice video and interesting mini tools. I love them, will get them all. Thank you

    You have patience man. I would have tossed that thing into a dumpster and spent a few thousand dollars and got a Bridgeport and had a boxing match with my wife.

    Hows that rotary table? I just picked one up, offered 45 n they took it. Blew it apart and let it soak in wax n grease remover n tried putting it together last night. Used a little much grease n it was pissing me off. I had to file the worm gear teeth because they barely went inside the brass gear. Just put the rod in a drill n went back n forth tell they matched with brass gear. Trying to remove backlash is the issue. I think it will work good for just making round parts or rounded corners but no precision work.

      Backlash is a problem, but worm mach to a gear on mine. Not the best table for sure.

    How can I use a larger diameter end mill cutter with my mf70?

    • @zhadlun
      @zhadlun  Рік тому

      To use larger diameter you need to replace spindle

  • @miso156
    @miso156 Рік тому

    Funny I hear the speed decrease of the motor. No wonder when you mill so large diameter. I would afraid of blowing up the motor or speed regulator.

    are these little mills worth $450 US? im wanting to buy a small mill to go along with my 7x14 mini lathe but ive not been able to find alot on these little guys but i have seen a few ppl using them to cut steel but they just show its able to but never shows a finished part or really talks about how it does. is the big enough to make parts for something like a cnc router cause that will be my first project for it if i got one but if i would be better off saving the 450 an just saving for one thats in the $800-1000 price range i dont mind an i know those machines are more capable, it will just take me a couple months to save the extra i'll need to buy the bigger machines plus the space they will take compare to the smaller one. after looking at ur video library u have done quite a bit with this machine with its upgrades ill be looking through these more, u might have just convince me to buy one.

    • @zhadlun
      @zhadlun  Рік тому +1

      To be honest, if you have enough space for a bit bigger mill. Go for bigger. Something like sieg sx1 or even siex sx2

    • @Mikesmeyer88
      @Mikesmeyer88 Рік тому

      Get a sieg sx2, solid column and if you have enough the 500 watt brushless motor, and go on little machine shop get a belt kit if it doesn't have one. Then you'll be able to do mostly anything you want. Wen has a sieg x2 with the large table upgrade for like 899 right now which is a good price considering the large table is 599 on lms. Just will need a belt kit n has the tilting column.

    Hello
    Why you don’t use vise?
    This is not safe job.
    You can make 2 peaces very small V-blocks ( 3x2) w(1 or 0/5) cm
    Then you will use of them not only for some jobs like this,also they can be very useful tools for ather jobs that you need to cut in angle.
    Also you can do the bottom of the blocks with half circle then you will have very special tools that you had never seen before.
    Best regards

    hi Volodymyr!
    what kind of spindle is that, some custom thing? out of the box these machines come with something called MICROMOT, which can accommodate up to 1/8" shank, and your end mill is quite obviously bigger than that. I'm considering getting one for myself, but 3.2mm shank is too wimpy, so I'm a little bit confused whether it's worth it or not.
    P.S. все буде Україна!

    • @zhadlun
      @zhadlun  4 місяці тому

      Hi. It's a custom ER11 spindle. Basically from original machine not so much left. I would say, if you need to work from a box I would buy something bigger initially.
      P.S Дякую!

    • @tracktoo1337
      @tracktoo1337 4 місяці тому +1

      I was able to get an ER-16 spindle with 10mm x 150mm length. That has all of the same dimensions as the ER-11 spindle that you've used but can accommodate a 3/8" diameter cutter.@@zhadlun
      I am also installing the spindle with a double row sealed angular contact bearing in the bottom position (10x19x7mm- #3800-RS). That may get a machined bearing retainer that bolts in at the bottom too but I haven't completed the conversion yet. I am following your basic approach but with some modifications including a slightly larger sensored motor with a higher KV and up to 25:1 compound belt reduction so I can still have the nominal 20,000 max RPM but with a belt and pulley change can get down as low as the 400-800 RPM range for the larger cutters. I am yet to find what your final reduction was. I suspect it's in one of the posts but I couldn't find it.

    Hello again.
    Ihave a question?:
    Can you say me please:
    1-how much is the diameter?
    2- how many mm is the slut in the middle ( place for tool)
    3- how many mm you cutted from the edge wher the screws are?
    Thank you and
    Best regards

      @zhadlun  Місяць тому +1

      Hi
      The shaft is 7mm, the tool body is near 25mm, the slot is 6mm. For the screws on the edge I cut just enough for them to screw and hide in a tool. The thread is near 6mm long.
