Education lifts people from ignorance and eliminates supernatural explanations for things not understood. It also makes people less vulnerable to being controlled.

You clearly have no understanding of the religious contribution to academia, really its entire creation actually. Medieval philosophers and scholars were without a doubt smarter than your average college grad today. You've still fallen for that myth that everything was superstitious in the past. Makes for people today with zero meaning or purpose.

Remember that the earliest universities in Europe were established by the Catholic Church and to this day the church continues to impart quality education at all levels worldwide. The church is in the forefront of education and humanitarian outreach services.

Education also reveals how complex this universe really is. Human beings are the only species that seek a higher power(s) and one can clearly observe this across all cultures.
And they can observe design... but apes, cats, dogs and atheists, cannot. But even atheists can have their spiritual eyes opened, if they’re willing.

I am from the Czech Republic - the center of Europe.
In the years 1948-1989 there was socialism. People were convinced that God did not exist. In our country, Christians were not persecuted like that, maybe only some members of the former church in the 1950s mainly, but the churches functioned normally. Only faith had no support. It manifested itself mainly financially, the monuments were dilapidated.
Gradually, by 1989, the share of Christians in society decreased to fifty percent. But then this trend continued. Compared to neighboring countries, we have one of the smallest shares today - about 11%. The trend of decline continues in other countries too, it's just delayed. Perhaps it is due to the Hussite era in our country, the epicenter of the resistance against the Church was in Bohemia, not in Moravia.
As for the weakening of the Christian faith, both the church and the state have a part in it. Cardinal Duka himself commented that after the revolution, religion was not restored in the school, that they left it to specific individuals to find their own way to faith. However, they don't learn anything at school. Students are never even familiar with the New and Old Law, they don't know anything even those who apply for humanities - Faculty of Philosophy..... Within the framework of civics, everyone is only familiar with philosophy. psychology and the basics of economics and law.
At the same time, the Bible as such is the cornerstone of our culture.

Religion is the greatest tool by the rich. Many of us have come to understand this. Churches will never be taxed in the US, it does the work of the rich at keeping Americans ignorant. The rich have their rewards here, the poor in the afterlife, how convenient is this? Keeps the poor poor looking forward for their after death reward; while on earth, the poor lives with trauma and stress providing for their family, while the rich lives content and rich full lives by the exploitation of the poor. It is horrendous what the rich is doing to our planet, their greed is never ending.

There is a lot of information on the Internet today, but people probably lack some connecting element, motivation. Christianity is not only an interpretation of religion, it also played another important role in human life. It united people, created values, an environment for mutual help, cooperation, communication, assured people that good will triumph over evil, that it makes sense to live according to the rules of the Bible.
But how are people supposed to believe in the Ten Commandments, when from time immemorial we wage wars, kill, the church itself stole what it could, drank wine, preached water?

HALF of the world has an IQ below 89 -- HALF. That's sub-normal. These people cannot think for themselves. The best they can do is to repeat someone else's narrative. AND OVER 93% of men and women are nearly deaf and blind spiritually. They "see" and "hear" nothing, except perhaps, once or twice in a lifetime, while asleep. We call that, NORMAL. Are you any different? It has always been like this -- as in the Days of Jonah -- "Yet forty days and Nine-of-You shall be overthrown."
90% of Christianity is Apostate. The Catholic Church is the same, unreformed Harlot of Babylon that she was in 1517. The Republican CHURCH (not the Party) became the synagogue of Satan (Revelation 3: 9) when ALL the Prophets on Christian Network TV -- FAKE EWES -- proclaimed Trump CHOSEN by God to build a NEW TEMPLE for the Sanhedrin of Jerusalem. 500,000 years ago, they came to teach Neanderthal Man herding and husbandry. And all went well for about 300,000 years (cro magnon man) until Lucifer -- sovereign of over 600 evolutionary worlds -- declared LIBERTY from the rule of a non-existent grandfather god, and order the Planetary Princes, like the one who remains on Earth, to do as they willed. Fast forward: Lucifer and Satan were detained in 30 AD, just after Pentecost, and were judged by the Ancients of Days, far from Earth in 1985. That information reached Earth in 1998, but just a few received it.
The devil and dragon (Revelation 12: 12-13) remain on Earth, and their judgement has been set for 10/10/26 -- one heavenly hour after Lucifer refused mercy (1000/24). They intend to absolve themselves by proving Mankind unfit for God's kingdom with a worldwide nuclear war: God vs God vs Not God vs No God in the Name of Jesus.
THEN, on 09/23/26, the Great Re-Set when "THEY" unveil the Light Bearer of pure logic, the NEON GAUD. Men and women will never lie, cheat, steal, or murder again -- so help us GAUD. You Will Be Happy.

Having said that, I will add that I wouldn't want to live in a theocracy, such as Ireland before the Celtic Tiger years, The worst thing to happen to the Catholic Church in my lifetime was "Humane Vitae," the 1968 papal encyclical on birth control. While the Church may educate, guide and counsel, Catholics in the pews have decided long ago if and when they will have children. More than 90 percent of married Catholic couple will use artificial contraception ... and the rest are lying.

The West's rock-bottom birthrate, leading to mass immigration and the replacement of a non-reproducing population with an aggressive Islam with a higher birthrate shows that the West is committing demographic and cultural suicide. (No, I am not a Catholic).

I think Catholic Ireland before the Celtic Tiger was much better place than multicultural liberal Ireland today.
People had strong communities and extended families who visited each. They met in churches and pubs. There was a high social trust in the country. Catholicism was a symbol of Irish unity and resistance against British occupants. The population was growing, women valued morherhood and had a lot of children. Man's income could support the whole family, every family had its own house.
Today the country is divided according to political lines, people are at each other's throats. Women fell into trap of hedonism and vanity. Men into drugs and gambling. Birth rates plummeted into sub-replacement level. Ireland is flooded with immigrants who hate Ireland and Irish culture. The whole country is a property of American big tech who brought their trashy multicultural liberal ideology with them. Divorce is sky high, so is abortion, depression, crime, homelessness and general lack of empathy. Dublin city centre looks like a dump. The cost of living is sky high, even two working partners cannot afford a house. People don't socialise anymore but sit at home watching social media and Netflix.
If this trend continues, there will be no more Irish people in the future. I don't understand how somebody can see this as progress.

I've read that Churches that embrace or promote progressive ideology decline much faster than those that do not. This to me suggests that choosing to have religious affiliation may be influenced by political desires rather than faith alone.
For example if someone has a positive view of western culture and Christianity's influence on society they may be more inclined to identity with Christianity on a census for example. Alternatively if someone has a negative view of European civilization and colonialism they may reject Christianity and attack it as dogmatic. For this reason political leanings and historical interpretations guide peoples religious choices more so than literal "belief," as used to be the case before the 1960s.
In addition Islam's growing presence in parts of Western Europe may influence the perception of Christianity in the future. Unlike in the West, the Islamic world has not seen a strong decline of adherence and Islamic migrants to Europe tend to be very fervently devout by Western standards. Because of higher birthrates among migrant populations and lack of integration, many young people in the west have began to view their civilization as under threat or as becoming marginalized etc and are thus identifying with Christianity as a political choice. Many of whom would have been otherwise unconcerned with religion in a different political climate. In this way whether one identifies as atheist or Christian is a political statement as much as a statement of belief. It may be a bit of a stretch but I think it has a grain of truth.
Central-Eastern Europe is a very interesting and different situation. Christianity was repressed in the Cold War era as Marxism is an Atheist ideology. In Poland this repression provoked the opposite effect as the authorities intended and since 1989 Poland has become arguably the most religious country in Europe and a symbol of Catholicism. The Orthodox Church in Russia and Ukraine has also rebounded in the post Soviet era but no where near the same extend as in Poland. Czechia faced the same repression of Christianity as other ex-communist countries, but for some reason it seems to have been very effective here. Czechia now has one of the lowest Religiosity rates on earth. Unlike western countries however, the collapse of religion has not made Czech society embrace multiculturalism and progressive ideology to the same extent. The average Atheist Czech is generally speaking still more socially conservative than the average atheist in France or America.

Secular humanism is a philosophy, belief system, or life stance that embraces human reason, logic, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism, while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision making.
Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or belief in a deity. It does not, however, assume that humans are either inherently good or evil, nor does it present humans as being superior to nature. Rather, the humanist life stance emphasizes the unique responsibility facing humanity and the ethical consequences of human decisions. Fundamental to the concept of secular humanism is the strongly held viewpoint that ideology be it religious or political must be thoroughly examined by each individual and not simply accepted or rejected on faith. Along with this, an essential part of secular humanism is a continually adapting search for truth, primarily through science and philosophy.

However, the worst thing seems to me is that today's youth are starting to come to the conclusion that they will not do anything they don't have to, even things that a person used to take as a mission, the meaning of life, when he felt that it was his duty to pass on his life. On the other hand, he does not have the conditions for this, so there is nothing to blame those people. I often feel sorry for their parents, especially in cases where their offspring turn to drugs and alcohol, when they do not find the meaning of life.

In general, religion or beliefs were originally not treated as absolute. However, upon the start of Roman empire a new radical religion was founded. Thus, wars motivated by imposing its own religion and beliefs were started.
As in ancient times, our life and the world is full of mysteries, but at times we may amuse ourselves with stories.
A bit of contribution to mythology...
Multiple Gods or gods make more stable and happy supreme divine beings than a single God or god alone.
From history, we should note that the Israelites before becoming monotheists were previously polytheists.
For those who like myths we may speculate one. The word creator when referred to the universe is a human defined concept. Many people also attrubute this creator to God which is also defined by humans.
No actual manifestation or substantial proof have yet been found of God or gods. However, let us dive a bit into speculation of how religious beliefs may have been formed.
Let us speculate a hypothesis of how certain civilizations prefer polytheistic religions over monotheistic religions. “What is the advantage of having many gods over a single god?”
Fundamentally, having many gods increases the chances of survival of the first humans and other living things. Supposing a god is not eternal and is not the creator of living things, but a planter of living things, woudn’t it make more sense to have more gods than a single god put the first living things on earth and let these living things survive and thrive?
Since each god had not brought exactly the same type of essence of life (or seeds as analogy) then some diversity in physical features and culture would have been expected. Thus, we have dark skin humans, brown skin humans, short humans, tall humans, black hair humans, blond hair humans, etc.

Hi. Thanks for a thought-provoking video. It's excellent on the details but misses the main driver of religion's decline: our ability read and write and share information freely. Gutenberg's printing press destroyed the church's monopoly on the printed word 470 years ago, and universal literacy resulting from compulsory education did the rest. No longer is our only source of information a priest speaking from a pulpit, and the scribes have lost their power too.
The church reels, wounded by every advance in communication technology. Magazines, journals, and newspapers became affordable, both to make and read. Morse code made messaging instant, and the telephone, radio, and TV more so. Cellphones mean anyone anywhere can speak to any other person anytime. Central censorship and control of information is no longer possible. Freedom of the press is destroying traditional religion.
Worse for the church is UA-cam, where other viewpoints compete, and all are open to personal evaluation. It's an open marketplace of ideas, and each religion has only one product, that's why they're failing. Had they not claimed they had the unalterable "word of God", they'd be able to extend their product range, but by calling their books "God's word" that must not be added to, they painted themselves into a corner. They can't change what God said without making him into a liar. The world has changed, but traditional religion can't, that's why religion is declining. As Jesus would have said, "You can't put new wine into old bottles". (Matt 9:17). That's why I call myself a scientific Theist. Cheers, P.R.

@@TheInformatics-7 Thanks. The most consistent act of authoritarians is limiting free speech by calling it "blasphemy", and burning books of course. Next is the formulaic disparagement of anyone who disagrees. Christians slap the "antichrist" label on dissenters, and Muslims use "infidel" and "apostate". Communists used "bourgeois reactionary" and the Nazi's used racist denunciations. These ideologies all have "hair-trigger" excuses to bully people built in, Christianity has Jesus saying, "He who is not for me is against me" (Matt 12:30), and "unless you hate your parents you cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:26). Sadly, of such doubtful parentage the Spanish inquisition was born. Cheers anyway, P.R.

God is NOT really a NEED. There is an innate desire to quest for "god". But half of the world has IQ below 89. Asking the Question is the best they can do -- or they can repeat someone else's narrative. But they do not understand much. And OVER 93% of men and women are nearly deaf and blind spiritually. They "see" and "hear" nothing -- except perhaps once or twice in a lifetime, while asleep. We call that, NORMAL. Are you any different? It has always been like this.
Every single one of us is born from the womb of woman (Jesus, too) naked, bloody, and knowing absolutely nothing, except perhaps, to suckle. EVERYTHING must be learned, mostly on our own as adults, in just one lifetime. It has always been like this, BUT . . . never before RIGHT NOW have so many educated people lived so freely and so abundantly and now so CONNECTED to a Shared, Worldwide Experience with near-instant communication . . . it is GUARANTEED to wake "THIS" generation up.

I feel sorry for all you who have nothing to look forward to after death. Our souls live on for eternity in one of two places-either in Heaven or in Hell. The Bible is clear that rejection of God's Son, Jesus Christ, will result in an eternity without God and permanent residency in Hell. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Please read the Bible for yourselves. Science can be proven, God cannot. Christianity is the blanket term for the post-Messianic Judiaism of the New Testament; and many religions were established under it. Under some of those religions, it is documented that terrible oppression, murder and torture were visited upon scientists, philosophers and women for daring to disagree with what religion said science and moral right-thinking was. So, indirectly, christianity was used as a vehicle by Christian religions for these crimes.
