    aren't all (2.5/3.0/3.2) conrods the same, 130.9 mm, and the difference in stroke accommodated by different piston compression heights?

    are the alfa 164.3.0v6 12v QV piston valve holes the same size for the intake and exhaust valves, when you put them in place, should the arrow point towards the distributor head?

    is it better to use mineral oil or synthetic in the alfa 164.3.0v6 12v engine? if the outside temperatures are -39-+36 celsius..and which viscosity is the best?

    classic mechanicing...experience is golden....my 3.2 v6 GT engine has 142,000 on it...i'm saving up for the rebuild...whats a ball park for top end and full? im in newcastle?

      Hi. No major issues. The important things are the shell conditions so recommend to inspect them and change if is the case and the cylinder liners. In that case where like an easter egg out of measurements and big end shell where worn. The reason of the full rebuild is because the Diff blown up and was due a Timing Belt but the main reason was that the coolant bottle had some oil in it.

    Love your work
    Which silicone did you use to fill the main cap on the flywheel side ? You filed it when its installed ?
    Thanks 💪

      Thank you so much. So I used Renzoil black sealant. It's one of the best on the market. Indeed I put sealant on the surfaces and after squeeze some into the holes.

    does it hurt if the tensioner of the 164.3.0.v6 12v distributor head is adjusted approx. 5mm above the marked tension? because I would suspect the original oil tensioner to be tighter.?

    Too bad we cant see the crank assembly

      You are welcome. Unfortunately I couldn't film the crankshaft assembly at the time. Never seen a chain failure yet myself. Here there is a video of the oil pump assembly.

      Great, I have to do all this myself. Need cam belts done, Valve cover gaskets, coolant has some black bits in the reservoir, thinking that my head gasket may be waiving me good bye. Regardless, I am gonna get the engine out and do it all while it's out. Your video is a great guide! @@alfaromeofanclubedinburghuk

    i didnt see it, but why rebuild at 100k miles ? My 2.5 have 300 000 km and doont need rebuild - compression 14,8 bar and no oil consumption (4000km 0,5L)...

  • @AlfaGTA156

    Nice work. Are the EB spares replacement ring set genuine factory? Only because 10 years ago I found out that my gta which had a rebuild had faulty rings especially the bottom one ( oil control ring)They were not genuine. It was burning 1litee of oil every 250miles at the time. I had get a set from Italy through Autolusso and that was a ballache to source 10 years ago. 10 years on she doesn’t burn any oil whatsoever. Also did you set the ring gaps which I had to do? I think that might have been part of my oil issue.

    • @alfaromeofanclubedinburghuk
      @alfaromeofanclubedinburghuk  Рік тому +1

      Hi. No aren't genuine but are good quality. Indeed you have to check your ring gap. In this case it was 0.65 mm of gap which is way too much. So I had to replace the liners. From EB Spares you can get also brand new liners and Piston with rings.
