I was thinking of selling throttle box, but watching this video changed my mind.

For so many years, I've been convincing myself that I love this pedal...But not really...until I tried pushing/boosting it with an OD and even with a comp...And now I'm really loving it..So much tonal possibilities..

Yeah man I'm playing through a Roland cube 80XL.. and I found that the original JC-clean channel works best compared to the fender blackface modelling channel but it's also okay. . What channel you using on your katana? But the throttle box eq compared to the cube's rectifier modelilng channel sounds like crap... the modelling channel for rect. sounds a lot more decent, even though you would think a original mesa product is gonna sound more original.. and I've also tweaked hours away on this pedal. I've got a ts5 that I'm gonna give a try later - same circuit as the ts9 just plastic housing.. you reckon that a comp does really tighten things up too? My question I want to really ask is, is your sound a lot more glassy now compared to the mesa pedal on it's own? I hate being stuck in the mud... hehe

Hey man! I'm using the stock clean sound/channel of the Katana with almost flat eq settings. But the gain, here was around 10-1030 If I remember.
Yea. The thing with the throttle box is you need to push it with a lot of high mids (as pre eq)
that's why I set the tone of my comp to more than half (to add more highs to the tone) the OD takes care of the high mids. And that's it to make it sound clearer or glassy as you say..
It also makes it feel more stringy if that makes sense.. Hope this helps man. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.

      @@drumthrone10 thanks man..
Yeah I tweaked the throttle box together with my ts-5 now. . And boy oh boy does it rock. No more muddyness.. just sweet glassy rectifier gain😌👌

@@alanshaw8563 Cool! I'm glad you're enjoying your throttle box. It took me around 2-3 years to finally decide and try pushing it with an od.. And yea...I think it's meant to be pushed...(Feels so much better) unless you have a very hot pickup..

I have a Mesa Boogie Throttle box Eq .. Which OD pedal blend well with it?

Hey man. I have only used the Boss Sd1 and Visualsound Route808 with this throttle box eq. For me, the ODS with the most pleasing mids would blend well with it. I like ts type ods than sd1 type ones. Hope this helps. :) Rock on!
