- This is the FINALE to my solo cross country series. I'm on my last 1000 mile stretch until I get home, and spend 24 hours across 3 days dodging the storms of a Tornado that was right in the middle of my path.

Stop when you have to, no matter how close to home you are. Really good decision.
The decision to stop when you were cold and wet, even though you were only 100 miles from home, was an excellent decision. The desire to "just get home" is always strong in situations like that, and making the better decision not to go for safety is always a tough one. Aviation folks go through the same decision process on a regular basis.
Came here to say this! Setting a great example Doodle!
I agree. When I rode my bike back from west Texas to the east coast in two days I just wanted to get home. I was trying to stay in front of thunderstorms, my phone wouldn't work and it was getting dark. I was three hours from home and decided to just check into a hotel and let the storms pass me by. I didn't want to drive at night and hit a deer or something.
I will take my hat off to you young lady well done 👌💯💯💯👏👏👏👍👍
willing to bet you are a wayyyyy better rider than the trolls who comment about how you ride or what you should ride... Watching you with MotoJitsu was awesome (my Dad rode with him a couple months ago). Thanks for taking us along your journey!
You are one really brave biker!
Time to write a book, your experiences are of great value to new and experienced riders.
These rainy trips are the hardest sometimes, but they really do build fortitude and show you what you can endure. This trip has produced great content.
Yes, rainy weather is inevitable.
Gusty winds and fogging is likewise visited upon a rider every road trip. Good gear.
Thank
PT
Way to go Doodle. You're my girl.
Doodle is an absolute badass. So much respect for her.
It is cold, and your face in the shots on the way says miserable, and everything hurts and screams BUT on the inside you feel you are happy and you feel you are alive. Something no one who did a long haul on the motorcycle will ever understand. Keep up!
Proud of you for chasing and catching a dream. I’m still always looking forward to the next trip even at 75. You have so many adventures ahead of you. Never quit.
New Video. Awesome , initial viewing looking like you're in the UK with our summer weather 😅
You inspired me to get my first street bike! It’s been fun watching your journey! Also got a brake free because of you. It’s a great product!
I have 44 years riding experience and i have to say I have never had the guts to do what you do! I think most people are concerned for your safety when they ask if you are traveling alone.
I'm so glad that you do not let people tell you that you can't.... I don't understand those thoughts... I love that you do it anyway... ❤
Howdy Doodle. These wet trips aren't the most fun, but they're the most memorable as time rolls on. Excellent video, and decision making process was right on target. Well done!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your message at the end! Mostly what I have found is people who want to tell you you shouldn’t be doing something, it’s because it makes them confront themselves about their own resilience and persistence to get the life they want by pushing through perceived limitations. . Thank you for always sharing he honest experience and the learning that comes from it!
You are a brave and amazing girl, and I always appreciate your videos. Stopping when cold and wet is smart, stopping even when we can make it home also very smart decision. When we riding to get home, we are not in the moment or really riding. Loved this video
You are a road warrior Doodle, it's inspiring, thank you for bringing me along, ride on and be safe and see you down the trail
Love the Doodle show! Loved the zit! Great to see real people. Also love when you let your hair go curly. Always enjoy your productions!
You totally motivate me to go on a solo trip !! Great job again Doodle
Thoroughly enjoy Doodle's videos. She's a neat kid.
I live in Missouri and I can confirm the Monsson that you experienced was spectacular to say the least lol. SO MUCH RAIN.
Job well done! I guarantee you most of the trolls that had negative comments either don’t even own a motorcycle or never left the one horse town they live in. I take solo cross country road trips every summer. They can be addictive to the point where everything you do supports what you’re going to do for the next cross country road trip.
Ride only when you are comfortable but always push your level of comfort. Be safe
Always love your attitude and spirit under difficult circumstances....Ride On!!
Doodle !!!!! first of all welcome home. Girl you are soooo tough. Your drive and determination are so inspiring. That rain and bad weather would have made most throw in the towel. Being cold and wet is one of the worst feelings and can really drain you mentally but you adjusted your route adapted to the circumstances and pushed through. You are mentally and physically a super hero. I am so glad that you had such an amazing trip and all that you experienced and accomplished.
Thank you for all of the amazing videos. You Miss Doodle are a ROCK STAR !!!!
I am really enjoying your videos. Well done. I have ridden in rain but nothing like you showed in this video. You are a real trooper. And, a shout out to Cody for his support.
never fail trick to extract all the water from your boots overnight- find newspapers or magazines and put them all in. the ink in the print absorbs all the moisture and its as dry as dry
Doodle, you are an amazing inspiration to all of us! Just love watching your adventures. These miles are experience and times you’ll cherish forever! In 2007 I road from my home (at that time) in Maryland to GA. Then on the trip back, ran into the worse rain I think I’ve been through in 35 plus years of riding. Unfortunately, my location had no available places to stay. And only a couple of closed gas stations to hide and get cover from the rain. I wished I would have been able to bunk for the night, but it wasn’t happening. I forced myself to finish the trip. Between the rain, road closures and time of day, the normal 9.5 hour trip took me 16. I was exhausted. Three months later, made the trip back to GA and have stayed…. Glad you made it safe. God bless! See you on road. Keep scootin’
Epic adventure! I'm glad you were not alone. I'm glad Zit was able to ride with you on the most challenging part of the trip.
😂😂
What an inspiring and delightful lady you are. Well done. 👏👏
Loved the video and especially the message! Ending my 12 year marriage was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, and it was in the name of happiness. So glad I did. Now I got to watch your video with the love of my life. We just celebrated 8 years of marriage 2 days ago!
The bald eagle feathers at the end was super cringe, I sure hope that lady belongs to a recognized Native American tribe!!
“There and Back Again: A Doodle’s Tale”
Grats on you adventure lady, you made it and did well doing it. Enjoy the roads of America for no place has better scenery or better people.
Only words I have is "you make me proud". Happy to have followed you on your journey.
I’m glad you have a good mental health. Be grateful for that don’t take it for granted. Just remember this is all about you.
Good job! Love watching you on your bike across the US! The funniest was at area 51🤙😁
Doodle, congratulations on finishing what you intended to accomplish. Keep thriving and we will continue to support and encourage you.
I drove from Alabama to Arizona back in April and had to adjust my route to avoid tornadic storms around Tyler, TX. Ended up driving north from Vicksburg, MS up to Van Buren, AR then cutting across Oklahoma before adjusting my route back south when I got to Santa Rosa, NM. I was in a car though so no biggie.
My first long ride in our country to the east coast trying to catch the sunrise. Went out 2am reached at 6am, ended in a torrential rain. I would not change a thing if i have to redo it. Awesome video and editing! The fog issue for the helmet might be the reason why itchyboots use googles a lot on her rides.
Congratulations. What a great achievement. I have to say, that rain looked miserable. It's one thing to have a short downpour but it's another to have three days being wet. Well done.
You can find a replacement face shield that accepts a pinlock. You just got to buy it separately and install it yourself. I think it doesn't come with it because it doesn't work as well as most other pinlocks but still it's an option.
I just finished binge-watching your whole cross-country playlist! What an amazing adventure. I am a recent owner of an adventure bike and now I want to go create my own adventure! You are very inspiring! Well done Doodle!
Wow just wow super impressed you're a trooper that's amazing honestly I'm a fairweather writer and I've been riding for 20 plus years and I still don't go out in heavy weather like that what a journey enjoy the ride
Nothing like home. So glad you made it home safely. I so enjoy your adventures. You go Girl 👍
Doodle, Hi! You are my hero.. here’s why. I’m a 37 year old man, rookie rider.. and let me tell you, one the first few times around my city was to a bar (drank soda) with some coworkers but the 4 mile ride .. I was fearing for my life 🤭😂.. so seeing you do this is such an inspiration to me and hands down to so many. Thanks for the awesome content you make.. safe riding!!! 😎
As a long time rider who loves adventure it is hard for non riders to understand what you go through on a moto. Heavy winds, rain, cold are served as individual treats or in combinations of two or three. I have mad respect for you.
Glad to see that you passed Mother Nature's test! This is what motorcycling is about - tackling the challenges and coming out victorious. Good on you for making the decision to take a hotel even though you were only 100 miles from home. Too often we push too far, and in your circumstances, being cold and wet can lead to some really bad decisions. Hope that you enjoyed your cross-country trip as much as I've enjoyed watching your videos!
Nice work there! 🎉
Got home from Sturgis Tuesday past about 11:30 p.m. Rode straight through from Deadwood, SD. Not my personal best, but it was my riding partner's. Still not that bad for an 80 year old guy. Sorry I missed you in Sturgis. Your videos are really well done. You have the riding bug. Keep it up señorita.
What an *awesome* adventure from start to finish! Hope to do something like this in my motorcycling future!
Congrats on an amazing journey! As a midwesterner, want to clarify that we don't have CONSTANT tornadoes, I mean you make it sound like every day our houses are blowing awa....., wait, what is that siren? why are there cows flying past my window? help!!! Anty Em, Anty Em!!!...
Congrats on your journey. I’m glad you made it back safe and sound. Your an inspiration for sure.
This is a great example why you need to have flexibility in your travel plans. Great ride Doodles. Thanks for the vids.
You rock Doodle! don't listen to the negative comments, just like everything else if you don't practice you won't get better. Plus who hasn't dropped their bike, if everyone had that same mentality there would be no riders left to ride. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Love your content. As a European rider, we tend to spend way less time on the highway, but your storytelling made it all worth it!
Quadlock "tip": if you tip it forward further so that you see your own (dark) outline instead of the bright sky, it's easier to read. One of the Quadlock extensions will help with that. Oh, and the wireless charger module is also waterproof.
That was an amazing adventure! I’m still at the point where a few sprinkles scare me😅 Also, those “that bike is too big for you” people can kick rocks.
Thank you Doodle for sharing your journey across America. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
pure inspiration! live long and prosper!
Excellent series and fun to see you make it all the way back. Thanks for all you do!
Fudge and brownies destroy my face. I'm jealous of the fact that you only had one zit.
Congrats on making an epic solo adventure. I've been there plenty of times, even rode in a Tropical Storm in Florida and Southern Georgia. Sometimes you push thru and sometimes you gotta know when to say when and stop for the night and let it pass. Anyways, newspaper crumpled up and shoved on wet boots does wonders to dry them out. Change it out a couple times over night and they'll be much drier in the morning.
Excellent video and especially the editing. Your sense of humor comes through and makes me laugh out loud while I'm watching. We have some pleasant riding next door in NE Alabama. Come visit us!
You rock! “Noodle”
Glad you got home safe. Fabulous trip.
I really like your video. It does good representation of the obstacles that happen when you're riding your motorcycle across country. But congratulations on your run it is quite an accomplishment 👏👏👍
This lovely lady is as tough as nails. Think of that, you Sunny Sunday Riders! It gets scary when the clouds drop upon you as they will before a tornado.
I enjoyed your series - yet again, your videos don’t disappoint!
Well done, congrats. I’m officially getting deja vu from some of your videos because I felt a eery sense of having seen this before 😂
Nice vid as always - FYI you can get aftermarket pinlock for that helmet - it doesn't actually "pin" in, but has adhesive and it sticks fine. I have it in mine.
Great stuff, honest real world riding! this is so refreshing! great job, great series, glad you are home safe with hubby n pets! looking forward to your next adventure
I took my first cross-country trip this year and can't wait to go on another! Definitely hope to see the Doodler doing to same in the future. And I learned so many lessons.... Maybe you can do a video just on the things you didn't think of before that you'll keep in mind next time. (Example: I started activating my right turn signal with my hand palm-up, because my thumb got hella sore after pressing it thousands of times. Took a month to feel right again.)
No joke - Thanks for the Quad Lock info PRICELESS
This is so dope, glad you made it home safe. Just goes to show, it's all about putting in the work/practice, and being resilient. Setting a great example for all people who take up motorcycling. Good stuff Doodle. Road trip through Europe next!! :P :D
You're a more daring rider than me. I hate riding in the rain so much I just won't do it. And def not in a downpour. They say to stay off the road for a bit when it starts raining to let the oil wash off the roads, but I guess you were riding in to the rain. Cool road-trip -- thanks for sharing.
Need to get a sidecar so you can take Cody with you next time that would be funny to see🤣
What an adventure! Well done. Such an achievement and be proud of yourself! This sort of personal challenge is something I will probably never do, despite wanting to. I live in England and would love to ride around the UK upto Scotland. Perhaps one day. But the journey wouldn't be as big as your's across the U.S!
Very lovely, well done 👍
Well done! I can relate to those cold wet riding days.
You’re an Inspiration Doodle, I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and you’ve got Cojones of steel 😂. Keep up the amazing work
Great video. Like watching a finely produced TV show.
Great wrap up to this journey. Now that this is done, and your trip to Sturgis is completed, can you give a longterm Tiger 900 review? Certainly you’ve got 12-15k miles on it now so your experiences with maintenance, MPG, overall riding assessment would be nice to see.
Thanks for your vlogs
Glad you made it safe ! Cycle Gear carries a pinlock screen for the Xd4, I have one on mine. You are brave going through this stuff alone !
Carolyn, I'm recently back from a tour that featured torrential rain, ride same bike, same lid...
You can get pinlock visors for the X4.
With the peak fitted it's still quieter than my Shoei Neotec 2.
I use the Evotech-Performance mount for phone, which sits behind the screen. Works well, though you do need to block the windshield hole in terrible weather (evotech should really supply a plastic moulded weather shield).
So proud and jealous of you, one day I too will travel across the country on my bike. Keep up the amazing work Doodle!!
You did good kiddo. What an adventure you have had!
Glad you made it home safe.
Well done, Doodle. Fantastic series, glad your safe. Took my first overnight solo 600 mile camping trip, you inspired me!
Good judgment is just as important as good skills. You done good!
Doodle
Great Video! Glad you didn't get to do your Dorothy impression by a tornado. 🤣
I'd rather be wet and cool than riding in the heat they are getting in the South right now! Glad you're safe.
Ride SAFE and BE safe Lady! 👍👍🌹
An awesome adventure 😎 Thanks for taking us all across the country and back!
I've been there, stopping to get warm even if it's just 30-45 minutes helps to keep your focus and lets your energy levels recover. Nothing like being wet down to your skin and travelling at 60-70 mph. Getting the motel was probably the best call.
Doodle McNoodle, ur a road warrior tomhave gone through all of what u did. Remarkable job.
“She didn’t lose her eye sight but, I mean - - she could of.” - - “duh! ppl, what r u waiting for?”
Your video story telling is really good! Enjoyed your saga.
Be safe Doodle! Get home safe!! I aim to be like you!!
You are 100% right. Don’t listen to the naysayers. They’re the ones making their own lives miserable. Never let your dreams die.
Love this road trip video, Doodle!
My wife and I both have G-Max helmets that were also not pinlock compatible. I was able to find a comparable model in their snowmobile lineup, and ordered 2 visors for that model. Now we both have dual lens visors and no fogging. Might be an option for you if there's a snow version of that helmet.
Whoa! I have lots of questions so I'll start with the website and vlog posts. Good stuff Carolyn. Looking forward to the next trip content. There is a lot to unpack for me in this episode.
awesome trip, lots learning, and great spirit to conquer the ride! well done Doodles!
