The TOP Motorcycle Road Trip Stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway: LITTLE SWITZERLAND!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 тра 2024
- If you're planning to take a motorcycle trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, chances are you're going to be riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. Little Switzerland is one of the most iconic and popular stops along the 469-mile route and is only about an hour from Asheville, North Carolina. After so many of you told me I had to check it out, I made sure to plan a full day to stop here and ride a few roads in the area, including Highway 80 (The Devil's Whip) and 226a (The Diamondback). These are considered some of the best motorcycle roads in North Carolina!

You're the best at what you do. Keeps an old man's interest up and running.
Thank you!
I could imagine what that place would be like during the summer months. Anything with "peanut butter" especially pie 🥹😛
👍👍👍👍👍 The drone footage of the roads and trees are GREAT!!! That is the October photo on your calender. Thanks for sharing Staci!!!
It is!!!! Thanks for ordering one! :)
Only 230 miles from my house and I've never been there. I need to go get some of that filet and pie 👍
Man, DT"s is the BEST. That's about 40 minutes from us here in Burnsville and I get my haircut in Spruce Pine. I ALWAYS stop in for breakfast and coffee. Love your videos. As a new rider, with new bike(s) (Long story), I'm going to use these for a lot of inspiration.
Great video thank you very well done. I have been there and I agree with you. So many great roads. Thanks again cheers to ya.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I am going to pin this place on Google Earth. Thanks for sharing.
Loving all your videos. Another road to be added to my bucket list of rides for this year!
October, Blue Ridge Mtn"s, fried green tomatoes, yep, home run. Thanks for sharing, Ride Free
Been on BRP couple of times, but never been to that Little Switzerland area. You added another destination to my bucket list, as you usually do. Your usual excellence of content and video Staci. Thanks
Thanks Wayne! Its a good ride from Asheville up to Little Switz, assuming you don't stop anywhere along the way, and then if you continue on you're about 45 minutes from Blowing Rock and the Linn Cove Viaduct. Great ride!
Awesome, thanks. 😁
Fantastic review, Staci! Little Switzerland has been on my "to-do" list for a long time and I really need to make it happen, especially after watching this. I think I know what I'll be doing in a few months. ;) Thanks for the recommendations! Cheers!
Now you’re talking! Bubba J and I love riding to ice cream shops. Bubba J is my son. That is definitely some of the most beautiful country to ride in. We’ll get back there one day
I sent this video to m CVMA chapter friends, told them we absolutely need to add this trip this year, they agreed. I'll be sure to tag you during our trip, which should be in either late spring or early fall. I appreciate you taking the time to explore and share this awesome place! Ride safe! You rule
Y'all will love it!!! Thank you for watching, and sharing!
You are a natural at making great videos Staci! Yours are probably some of my favourites on UA-cam. Epic views, great on-bike shots and brilliant commentary with loads of information. If i ever get to the States I'd love to ride some of the roads you have featured, biker heaven! Keep those videos coming please!!
Thanks Dave!
Beautiful area, I go through Spruce Pine every day, M-F. Glad you enjoyed our part of the state!
Quality as always! 2 things...1, do you get anxious sometimes filming by yourself? (Eating dinner solo) 2, could we get some uncut riding footage through some of those beautiful roadways? Like asmr style? Thanks again
Haha yes it’s always nerve wracking when people stare at me like I’m doing something wrong when in reality I’m working 😂
No ASMR from this trip more than likely as it’s all 360 footage and is a pain to put together, but maybe! I’m over a year behind on edits right now. My priority is catching up on what I’ve already filmed 😊
Dreamy colors and food 🤩
Indeed!
A beautiful lady on a beautiful channel. Well done ❤. A actual normal person.. hooked on this videos 😮😊
Thank you!
I ride 221 N from Jefferson NC to Floyd VA. Amazing ride.
That peanut butter pie!! 😍
Thanks so much! You’re good girl ! So pretty ! You have that chill adventurous vibe thingy going on… I like. Be safe always.
Thanks for watching!
Ive been all up in there, I live 45 minutes away and yes Devils whip is nice!
Amazing job as always. We are in a blizzard so I live through videos like this
editing em in the winter keeps me sane, too! haha thank you for watching!
Really enjoyed this video. Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive is one of my favorite rides in the country! Never knew about Little Switzerland ,thanks, I will be visiting there for sure! Great video.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!
That peanut butter chocolate pie looked amazing!
It was pretty dang good!!!
Definitely gonna have to remember that place the next time I'm down there and I get hungry lol steak and fried green tomatoes?!?!?! I'm definitely in!
We can’t get enough of the Blue Ridge Parkway or Noth Carolina. I just made reservations for our 30th wedding anniversary in February in Waynesville. Looking forward to it and we will be going back this summer for at least a week to ride the area!!
Awesome!!
Hi,another cool video, but the last ice cream promotion tempted me like a child.🍦😋
tempted you like a child?
I just moved to NC in July of 23. Now I have to check this out. I originally rode my 2022 Harley Davidson Electra glide from Oregon through 14 states over the course of 11 days and 4700 miles. I came into NC from TN via 129 and I rode The trail of the dragon. As always I love your videos, and I wish I put down the miles you do. Keep the shiny side up, and I look forward to your next video.
Sounds like you put down some great miles!! You have quite the playground of epic riding in your backyard to explore. And it's "almost" springtime! As always, thanks for watching!
@@ridetofood almost springtime. I can't even bring the bike out yet, with my work schedule right now. But I'm definitely ready!
You’re the best!
Loved this video! Little Switzerland looks amazing! The peanut butter chocolate pie pushed me over the edge.
Hahaha the pie was well worth it. Insanely rich in flavor but worth it
Another great video Staci! Thank you. Gave me more to add to my notes for my next trip down there!
You’re fantastic. Your entire presentation is fantastic. I’m hoping to ride down from Central Ontario this summer. My goal is Martinsburg WV.
Awesome!!! And, thank you!
Nice video, and especially that ice cream 👍
Love this area, my mountain home away from home is just down 226A from Little Switzerland in Turkey Cove. My home is on one of the switch back curves. When I'm not out riding I can kick back on the front porch and watch everyone else ride by
Nice!
Another great ride. Thanks for sharing. Ride safe.👍🙏🏻
We were in the area last June. Huge front rolled through, they talked about flooding etc. We got out in the nic of time, coming down 226A in a torrential down pour. Water literally sheeting off the mountain. We got to Marion and there was probably 3"-4" or water on the roads. We finally got ahead of the front heading east. Epic adventure that I don't care to repeat. We stayed at Big Lynn Lodge, also recommended, not fancy but a nice clean place to stay, meals included. (Not filet mignon, but good)
Gotta love those summer rain storms (just kidding lol) big Lynn is a great and much more affordable alternative for sure! 🤘
Great video!!!. The blue ridge parkway is on the list of rides we need to do and produce content as well. Love the channel name we can relate... :)
Great video! Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video 👍👍
Entertaining, informative and a pleasure to watch as always.
Motorcycle and ice cream totally go together
they dooooo!!
Thanks Staci for a great video and showing us more awesome rides. Keep them coming.
Thanks Bob!
Love this! As always great video!
Thank you!
I really enjoy your content! Great editing, very informative, good old vibes flowing all the time. Thanks for what you do! Keep on keepin on! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thank you!
Looks great! Love the channel 👏🏻
thank you!
That place looks GREAT!!!!
Another banger of a video!
💥🤘 thank you!
Awesome Staci. That is now on my bucket list. Love the calendar too! Larry in Fort Worth
Thank you Larry!!
Loved these videos!
Yay! Thank you!
This video...YES! Love this area and love this drop. I need to check this out in fall...looks amazing! Love your productions.
Thank you! You definitely gotta visit in the fall. So incredible!!!
STACI!!!!!!!!! Great Video! I havent made it there in the several times I've been to the dragon, but I'm going the next time Lord willing! Thanks for posting!
The stretch of the BRP between Cherokee and Little Switzerland is incredible! You’ll love it!!
Next time you're in Little Switz you've got to ride NORTH on 80! Hugely entertaining!
Another great video Staci.!! I've heard of the little Switzerland many times but I've never stopped by on any of my trips there. Looks like a great place. But like you mentioned. It's usually not in my budget to stay there. Thanks for the great video.
Little Switzerland what a cool place never heard of it. Sounds like a nice spring ride north just 760 miles from me and that lodge looks perfect.
Thank you for sharing.
Awesome trip review. Thanks for all of the detail !!! Add it to the bucket list !!! Scott
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the video!
Yay! Thank you!
Another great video Staci! Planning how I can work this area into a “Family visit” trip out to the east coast… Thanks!
Looks great for when I go east to do a BDR.
Such beautiful country!!
Indeed!
Wonderful video as always. And for the next time you get to rip on a HD Pan America, the Trans America Trail also passes through Little Switzerland!
thaaaaaat's why everyone else staying there was on an ADV!! haha now it makes total sense!!
Nice video. I starting riding that area last year will have to check out the whip. I stayed at Big Lyn Lodge. A different sort of experience but great.
Planning my trip this early summer, trying to gather info from all your BRP videos haha thanks!
Hahaha I tried to pack a ton of info in! There’s so much to see and do!
Love this lady great videos big fan keep up the good work
Thank you!
Love it! Thanks so, so much for a great overview of this area. It all looks great and thanks for the tips! I have to get by on your videos for a few more months as it's full-on winter here in Colorado, but that doesn't stop me from making plans, lists and reservations!
Blizzard SZN is the best time to plan for riding SZN! Hahaha! Totally get it! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I live in NC and will probably NEVER run out of beautiful rides. There are so many twisty-packed roads in VA, NC an TN that lead up to the BRP, so it's easy to make circuit rides up and down the slopes. And there are lots of places to stay/camp/eat. Happy trails!
great ride great vid... cheers mate....
Cheers!!!
Excellent, great information. I’m heading to North Carolina this summer.
You're gonna love it!!
Awesome place, stayed there 3 times now. Absolutely beautiful!!! Southern hospitality hands down ❤
awesome!
Always looking forward to your videos, they seem so far apart 😄. Another quality work and another place to add to our trip list. 😎
Thank you glad you enjoyed it! I edit them as fast as humanly possible
When the quality is that good it’s worth the wait. 😎
Little Switzerland is fantastic.
It occurred to me that your channel is the modern-day format of the old time "Rip's Run" from the ancient days of printed material!😂 Except for the food that is. I don't recall Rip writing much about food. He wrote about rides he did/would take and make ya' want to be there! You know, like you! Thanks.
Great Vídeo.... 🖤🖤🖤
First time I rode 80 it was unplanned; came out of Asheville thinking I'd ride all the way up the BRP, then realized that would take way too long (had to get home that night). Came to 80, pulled off and saw by the map it would get me to 40, so I headed down with no clue what was coming! Sign at the top that says "Steep winding road ahead" is no joke, as you've seen! Been back several times since, ridden both down and up along with the full Diamondback loop of 226/226A, but haven't eaten there except for the outrageous pumpkin cheesecake at the Little Switzerland cafe.
pumpkin cheesecake?!?!!?!? k now I have to go back!
I imagine it's seasonal, I was there in Oct. '22, missed going back this past Oct. as the day I'd have gone was the one day it rained steadily the week I was down that way. If you get up to the Seneca Rocks area of WV, check out Gateway Restaurant; it's at the foot of the road that goes to the top of Spruce Knob, highest point in WV. Good food, not spectacular, but the pies are so good I made a fifty-mile detour to get lunch there on the way to New River Gorge last year.
Great video.... my poor bike is crammed in storage temporarily..... I can't wait for another adventure
At least it’s temporary! Hopefully youll be out riding again soon!
Hope to try riding there soon ❤
You will love it!!!
It never hurts to stop and get coffee.
👍👍
I live about two hours east of there in Winston-Salem so I go up there every year for a few days. I usually stay at the Big Lynn Lodge just down the road from where you were. I agree that the Devil's Whip is a better ride than the Diamond Back. If you are ever in that area again, try a ride up to Banner Elk. It's a foodie's dreamland!
Noted!!!
Looking into this. I'm starting to put my East Coast trip together for this year. Tail of the dragon and Blue ridge park way are on the top of the list. trying to hit SC, NC, VA, WV for sure maybe MD, and DE as well.
I live in Charlotte and that part of the Blue Ridge area is my favorite ride. It is a lot less crowded than the more "popular" rodes.I have family in several areas so always have a free place to stay so that's a bonus too 😂
Awesome!!
Hi I am new to your channel the scenery is beautiful and Amazing Awesome 😊
Thank you!
excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome video, I hope to make it there some day, only 2230 miles away.
Sounds like a good road trip if ya ask me! 😎🤘
I stay at the Inn at least once a year. Numerous great roads in the area.
Correct!
Hi ,We just missed each other by a week in the Smokey Mountains. I was riding the Smokies during the second week into the third week of October. Would have made my day to share a meal and a beer or two with ya...
Hope you enjoyed your trip!! See ya on the road!
Interesting Incredible beautiful
thanks for watching!
Could you make a video on the cameras you use, and make tips on making a good travel video?

Nope, never trailer anywhere! Check out Eaglerider For rental locations! You can get a discount via RideToFood.com/eaglerider 🤘
