As another female DIYer, I also prefer Lowes. In my area, a lot of the HD employees are really patronizing when talking to a woman. There's almost a "ooh, what are you up to little lady" quality to the way they address me. At Lowes, they know I'm a serious renovator and they afford me the same respect they do the male contractors and DIYers. I think your daughter's room is going to look great when it's finished. When I've done wainscoting in the past, I've usually put up backband around the door trim so the baseboards don't extend past the door trim. I don't know what type of baseboard you've chosen, so this might not be an issue at all.

I thought we weren’t going to be able to hear the Lowes’s trip song, but then. . . .more supplies were needed and my day was complete with the Lowe’s trip song. Yay!!! 🎉
Im an empty nester now, but i raised 3 boys & we had a minivan. That van was past the point of no return by the time they were done with it. They weren't as messy in the house as the van! The deep depths and crevices of the van. 😱
The "Home Depot Trip" bop had me about spitting my coffee out! You sounded like you were laughing, and it just made it so much funnier. Came for the diy projects, stayed for the humor and weirdness!

It's not embarrassing, it's real life with kids.
My 3 daughters are all 30-somethings now, but my oldest was 2 1/2 when my twins were born so 3 tinies for a hot minute! I remember pulling up to multiple family events and sliding open the minivan door to a rushing tumble of trash and diapers and toys and and and… Now it’s the grands and nothing’s changed except my attitude. It’s SO much more acceptable to me to have a trashed vehicle with grandkids!!! Plenty of time to clean it out when I send them home!!!

I am an artist/ graphic designer and weather sewing or graphics/drawling...I have made changes I use to think were mistakes that as I pray during the process and ask..what now Lord...He has helped me design and create beyond "my" thinking processes. I love it! It's like an adventure...(and I have a TBI!) I often think better to need God's help and KNOW I need His help! I am amazed when whatever project is complete...I enjoy your process! I put those HD panels in a room floor to ceiling in my 120 yr old farmhouse. Can you imagine doing that when all the walls are not straight, the floor sags in places, etc.?? NIGHTMARE! It only came out right because of a laser level. It looks great now. Good job!

The shiplap looks really good, I love shiplap & bead board. The bunks are really nice, assuming you built those when you first renovated the room. I'm surprised, your daughter doesn't want a double bed instead of bunks, now that she's getting older.

Between the trim removal from the room, and jigsawing the panels on the antique oak secretary desk, I have such anxiety about your daughter’s lamp, followed closely by the 20 gallon fish tank. I can’t believe either has survived this long through the video. Bravo Andrea!

When my son was in his early 20s and planning to move cross country to Seattle, I glanced into his car and saw the passenger seat and floor FILLED with used MacDonald's bags and cups. FILLED. My father-in-law was there and I asked him if he had any idea why my son might be saving all that trash. His reply still cracks me up : "I don't know.......tax purposes?"

Maybe you’ll find Lowe’s product at HD like I did about two weeks ago. I had been to Lowe’s garden area but I was looking for the same container of mixed plants I had bought the previous March, but Lowe’s didn’t have it, mainly because those plants which were meant to be delivered to HD. I bought four plants, 3 had a HD bar code, when when the checker tried to scan the bar code, it wouldn’t work and he said this is weird, it might be a Lowe’s bar code. He didn’t take my plants out of my “go cart” so he didn’t
see any labels. However when I got home and started to put that particular planter in my plant stand, LOWES was printed all of the container which I bought at HD! Life is never dull!

Andrea! I just did our entry way using those shiplap panels and I had Home Depot rip my boards as well and was shocked at how clean it was. I thought for sure they would chip but like you, was pleasantly surprised! 😅

I was going to use beadboard, but seeing that shiplap I think that's a more sophisticated direction. And the wider trim makes sense with the wider "boards."

Lowes is worth the tiny extra cost and I always go there. Found that they’re a lot friendlier to women and less patronizing. The company as a whole also doesn’t support hateful political policies that limit women’s, lgbtqia rights like Home Depot does. Same reason I don’t shop at hobby lobby anymore and only shop at Michael’s or a local craft store
