A little hint to help plants survive transplanting: Soak the plants in a basin, kids wading pool or something and let them all get a good, long drink. Dig a little wider and deeper than the root ball, throw some mulch and fertilizer into the hole and then water deeply. Then put the plants in and gently but firmly press the soil around them. Water the topsoil and then mulch.
It also helps to form the surrounding soil into a little "wall" around the roots of the plant, so when you water the water won't just run away from the plant.
Yeah ditto, let's us viewers support the good DIWife couple to get some hands on training with a guest horticulturalist. They definitely need to learn more about how to plant. Those plants aren't rocks. Think of the savings in plants, and they'll love gardening eventually. All gardeners can vouch for it getting under your skin and overtaking down time coz it's enjoyable, relaxing and REWARDING. cheers to all
I was about to say the same thing. I soak mine in five-gallon buckets until all the air bubbles stop.
I did that with Mums & they are still alive & colorful after a month!
How you placed them before you planted them is the way to do it. Remember to tease the roots when you take the plant out of the pot. Make sure you water the new plants until they are established. Get the kids involved. Good luck!
You guys should be paid by Lowes. I’m not the first one saying this…. 😂
Lowe’s should be a sponsor by now! 😄
DIY husband those pots are better than lifting that saw. I laugh every time she tells you “I need the saw”. You guys are so much fun to watch.
I’m an avid Gardner. Just a couple of tips for future planting. It makes the plants establish roots growth to use Espoma starter fertilizer. When the ground is that dry you should put water in the hole before you put dirt in then be sure to tamp the dirt in to not have pockets of air. All in all I love the selection of plants. Makes that space look amazing. Good job!
I love Espoma products too! I use a lot of their different fertilizers 😊
Nice to see. We in Wisconsin are wacking our hostas, draining our hoses, mowing one more time and turning outside spigots off. Actually, we hardy souls are looking forward to winter.
You speak the truth. Tomorrow the birdbaths and yard decor all gets cleaned off and packed away until May…..
My uncle always wets the dirt before he digs the holes for the plants because he says it makes it easier to dig the hole and put the plants in. I love the plants you picked ...
It wouldn't be a D.I.Y Wife video without Dean lifting something heavy. You guy's are to funny. Can't wait for next weeks twofer.
I love when he did a flip and crashed. He actually shared the oops. They are so cute...the whole family.
😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😅😅😅😮😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lowe's needs to sponsor all your videos!
Heads up for next time black mulch holds heat and might not be great for your plants in the hot Texas summers.
You two crack me up! The front yard looks amazing and you both did a great job on the plants. Two videos next week? Yippee!! I look forward to watching and especially I can't wait for the lighting on the house.
My almost teenage son has a very similar personality and activeness as Dean, it gives me such hope he can find a future wife that can be so compatible and complimentary to his energy level as DIY Wife! 😂
So happy to see you two doing this together ... (Dean always be kind to this special lady 🙂)
Lowe's need to come through with sponsorship for you guys
I came across your channel, and I’m glad I did. You two are hilarious 😂. Loved the video❤
As dry as your soil is when planting fill the hole with water. It is going to add great curb appeal to the front of your home. Kudos to you both. Videos are always entertaining. Great job..😊
You need flowers!! Iris’ are fabulous minimum care. Asiatic Lillie’s are also gorgeous. Minimum care. My whole back yard is perennials. Gorgeous!
You guys sure do have a lot of fun with your projects. Isn't that what it's all about?...enjoy the journey! 💚😊💚
Awww my DIY wife and non handy husband. They are so adorbs
Love the landscape design and your plant selection. Please saturate your new plants and flower beds with water because some of your root balls appeared to be dry. Then your drip irrigation will have a great start. Add some starter fertilizer so plants have established root system before we have a freeze. Dean you will need to dig up the crepe myrtle roots. Just trust me on this one. You can plant the roots out back and next year you will a free beautiful crepe myrtle. Fun video. Thanks see you next week.
❤ the new front door along with the new landscaping.
Look forward to your videos each week.
Tip when u put the plants into the ground crumble the bottom just a lil bit to brake the soil n it meshes with the ground soil better so when u water the roots attaches other then that ur doing grate girly ❤❤❤
I just love this house , are you two planning on keeping it as a forever home I like what you did to the inside and now the out side I'm sure going to be just as nice .
Your front yard look sou beautiful and invited , thank you very much to share🥰
Per usual, she shoots, she scores.
❤️ 👀 watching 👀 the two of you...
(NEVER a dull moment ❤️ )
Looks great love the plants you picked y'all have a beautiful home I think your shutters on the house would look great a deep wine color or a dark green and make the plants stand out more .
Your shutters would look so pretty painted a dark brown like the front door and mulch 💚
Dean and Andrea .. incredible work ethics on display.
good eye, Andrea nice job to the both of you!
You might try using landscape staples to hold your drip lines in place. They have them at Lowes. I love the variety of plants you choose. Beautiful!
You guys nailed the thumbnail pic! 😍😂
all the way from 🇬🇧 United Kingdom finally I was going into withdrawal symptoms I’m so addicted to your channel
You two don't mind hard work. Digging into our Nv. dirt is a major challenge!!! Caliche!!!
Looks great! Really like that you have an irrigation system to help you water and saves time! Always fun watching you two…until next week!
Great job! Everything looks great! One word of advice is to always add bio tone fertilizer when plating. It really helps establish the roots. 😃
the leaves are great under mulch! the front beds look great!
I love the humor of this young man👍
Nice, quiet blower. Yay you!
Your yard looks renewed and beautiful.
I really enjoy your videos , it's always funny and nice. Thanks for that !
Beautiful landscapes .
Omgosh, you guys are my favorite. Hilarious!!! You guys are my “GoTo”
Dean - "I threw my bucket across the yard, u threw your bucket on my head. What does that mean?"
Andrea - "I have better aim!"😅😅😅
Love the thumbnail! 😂
What an inspiring and practical for anyone looking to elevate their curb appeal. The flower bed design ideas shared in the video were not only visually appealing but also accessible for DIY enthusiasts. The transformation showcased in the front yard makeover proves that with a bit of creativity, even the most lackluster spaces can be turned into vibrant, welcoming areas.
I love watching your channel you do a great job on your projects and you two are funny.🤣
I laughed at the front pic of this video. Depicting the Anerican Ghotic painting. :D Dean you are very clever.
You guys are so funny. Good job on the Front yard. Love the Mummies by the Front Door. Looking good🥰👍😎
Need to water with Miracle grow , it will help with shock and the roots spreading out.. you went back a second time and didn't get any more pots they are on sale !!
Espoma starter. No fertilizing going into fall/winter. Stresses plants out. They need to put on root growth not top growth.
Always an enjoyable watch, you guys are great! Always makes me smile watching you work together
You guys are amazing, making me laught during the whole video, and you did a great job as always!
You both are so funny, that’s a compliment btw :) I hope Lowes sponsors you! :) Beautiful home & yard.
Looks beautiful!
Love you guys!! Looks great!
Love love love all your videos!!!!!
Great job. Looks great!
So pretty. It looks so nice, and makes your home look nice.
Looks great! Love the new door too!
Can I just say how much I love playful Dean? These videos are always so lighthearted. I'm still a young adult but already I feel the pressure to be quiet and fit into the norm, to not catch any attention especially as a girl / woman. So next time I'll have a little shopping cart race or dance to the music in the supermarket I won't feel ashamed anymore😊in these times, everyone needs to have these small moments of joy or we'll all go insane. So I hope everyone had a great day. And if not, there will always be a new day to start over or just reset. Also you're not alone!🥰
Advice from a NOT so YOUNG ADULT, If you want to sing or dance, enjoy yourself, dont let the presence of strangers strangle your fun (dont let anybody spoil you fun). I bounce around on space hoppers., sing, dance, etc
I dont know these people. I'm not hurting anyone, and it brightens their day too.
Looks awesome. Love the new door 💕
You guys are awesome! Love you both! ❤
You two are a hoot!
Another great job!
Amazing work! Thank you for this video. I want to start planting in my front yard and taking in as much as I can.
YOU TWO KIDS ARE AWESOME!!!
🌞🌻🌞
Beautiful job!
i *love* this channel
Lovely!
I love these guys.
Looks so good 👍
So pleasing to see the mulch at the end - looks great!
Beautiful nicely done, look forward to next weeks videos.🌞🌷🌹🌼🌻🌺
I was wondering when you’d get to the yards, you have a nice big space and I know you can make it look fabulous.
i'm soo excited for these new videos :))
I love the colors of your home!! Would you mind sharing the shutter color with me? 🙏🏻
It looks beautiful
I alwys use a crap load of mulch cause I like mine mounted and fluffy! I was like your gonna need a double load as you guys were counting bags at store! Lol.
You two are adorable, love your videos.
Amazing. Your front yard came out beautiful !!!! 🥰🥰🥰
You should amend your soil. It will be difficult for those roots to grow in that hard soil.
When you plant loosen the bottom so the roots can spread out. Beautiful job again.
You're supposed to loosen the roots at the bottom of the pot before you replant it
If they're pot bound. Many of those didn't look pot bound.
I don't in Texas!
Looks awesome👌
Wow looks great 😊
You guys did a great job, it looks amazing.
Great Job!!
I also learned about using drip. I love it. That plant bill must have been expensive.
You guys are so cute!
So pretty! 😍😍 Great job, sweeties! 😍
Very nice. Yes, TX weather.
Good job!!!! Trial and error is almost all of our landscaping and DIY chores. Then you go to UA-cam and find someone to learn from. Even with experience things fail. After losing our dogs to old age we are being infested with deer. They have eaten every new plant and landscaping efforts I have installed this year after a hard freeze. Even in Oregon we are experiencing a new climate and planting zone. It is always a challenge to be met.
As usual, I enjoyed watching you so so so muchhh!!!!! I love seeing u messing with each other 🤣🤣
Awesome team work 💯👏🏼🫶🏼✌🏼🙋🏼♀️
Great job guys so beautiful… teamwork ❤️
Love you guys,Dean you are so funny,Andrea you are so late back about it all, just love it all. I have to watch you all the time.all the best,Miriam🎉
First off you guys, we have our house here in GA painted the SAME colors as yours! haha I love painted brick! But the landscaping turned out beautiful!! We have the pea gravel like you do too, although ours is in a flower bed because we have a 4 foot over hang, so nothing grows. Love all the plants you picked out, and those pots with the mums! I love them! Fall is my favorite time of year! Good job, it looks beautiful!❤
Fun! I was going to say it would be great to see you tackle the entry next...you all always go above and beyond. Hope it came together well. Looking forward to the videos 🥰👍
I love your program!!
Beautiful 💚
Good job!
