As per video presentation, definitely good quality locks as not forgetting the person picking the lock is grasping and picking with the pin hole towards face. I have seen how difficult it is in real locking situation where the lock is located just above knee level, meaning you got to sit or squat and a 35 Deg C morning sun was shining at the gate. The locksmith was really perspiring :) Good locks, good price.
I received a 70mm version of this lock today - used, from eBay - and followed your tip about using a cut key to defeat the detent in the bottom of the keyway. What I discovered is that on my lock, once the detent pin is depressed I can get enough turn on the core to keep the detent pin down, meaning that I can then remove the half key while using TOK tension and have the keyway open for the pick. I also noticed that on my lock, the spools feel like regular spools. Disappointingly I got an open in about two minutes. So my conclusion is that older cylindrical Viros might have had looser tolerances and regular spools, or that wear might have allowed the detent to be held down by a small turn on the core. Either way, if you run across a Viro with some miles on the clock try swapping tension once the detent is down. At least you get more room to work. BTW I also tried picking as you showed (with the half key "depressor" in place) and it was a hellishly tight squeeze. Haven't got it open using that method yet, but an open's an open, right? - however you get it!
I live in Ecuador, your videos got me interested in lock picking, I already got a crappy goso kit and I'm waiting for the slowest mail in the world to deliver a couple of sets of sparrows Picks and tension wrenches,if you are ever back in Ecuador, let me know, I will be very cool if I could meet you in person. Keep picking my friend and I will keep watching. Btw right now I'm fighting to get picked this exact same lock but with a lot more wear.
This is just amazing on YT , you have professionals that give tips and tricks to the scumbags of society on how to steal from people ! Conclusion , you not much better then them on the end !
Well, talk about an uninformed comment... Can you name a SINGLE instance where a thief picked a lock to steal something (not counting in movies...)? If I teach you to drive a car, would you drive over a bunch of people? If you took a shooting class, would you then go out and shoot some folks? You really need to THINK about what you are writing before exposing your education gaps to the entire world.
@@bosnianbill I doubt you believe what you are saying! So you are teaching how to pick a lock and everyone is just there to look how good you are ? Come on , people invest a lot of money on a padlock and chain , and you are giving tips and tricks on how to pick all that. I have a pretty good education , first rule, don't touch if is not yours ! You can hide from your responsibility, but on the end you are helping scumbags voor likes on your channel !
Very new to this so forgive any ignorance..Could the reason for the difficulty be that the birthday surprise pin is being dealt with to soon in the binding order
I do not believe thay use it but thear is a secerity pin that is mushroomed at the top and has what looks like a file looks on the rest of it making it hard to pick as it will keep ketching the sides of the cylnder
May I ask everyone here. I have got one viro 105. But why mine are imprint as Viro Italy know both left and right side. Instead of MADE IN INTALY? can anyone here please help me . Could it be a fake replica?
NO..! Questo lucchetto sembra molto facile da aprire… ma NON è cosi che lo vendono in Europa..! Quando è venduto in Italia è MOLTO più difficile da aprire…! Forse non tutti i mercati esteri sono uguali…. :)
never knew much about viro, but lo and behold, i have one in my small collection, padlock its Italian correct? edit: just got to the part where its mentioned it is itallian haha
catch262 It would have, the issue was it had security pins so bumping never works. Bumping relies on kind of like with hitting a pool ball where you keep the cue ball where its at but launch the pool ball it hits, you keep the key pins mostly where they are but launch the spring and other pin. creates a air gap for a moment to turn. However with the serrated pins and such you'll get hung up and not get a good launch, without that air gap you cant bump it.
+catch262 In the article (www.dropbox.com/s/b4zega8rirvvs2k/The%20Viro%20Cylindrical%20Padlock.pdf?dl=0) he mentions the extra pin is at the very end of the keyway by design. Bosnian bill writes: "By the time the tip of the key reaches the detent to push it down to allow the core to rotate, the bumped pins have already settled back into their original position, which blocks the core and renders bumping completely useless."
It's interesting for the honest people to see and learn what you are showing in this videos. But did you and other professional locksmiths on YT ever stop to think that many more offenders then honest people watch this videos, and commit crimes much easier ? For example i learned to pick locks watching this type of video content. I admit i'm not very good at it but that's because i'm not interested in pursuing a criminal career "not yet anyway". :-))
***** First of all i need to say that you got some valid points in your reply. And i personally know what you are talking about, with the electronic security example. And because i see that you know what you're talking, i'm going to tell you a little story. About my experience with the double security/password feature on YT. Since the first time YT introduced the double password feature i was a big fan of it. Because i had another channel long time ago that got hacked in, and YT didn't do much about it. So since i activated this feature my YT channel got hacked in tow times again. You will ask how do i know i got hacked, i know because in my playlists start popping out all sorts of commercial videos. For example in my rock music playlist i found commercials for cigarettes, that sort of thing. So my question for you is how did someone managed to access my account, when the second password is always changing ? I scanned for malware and trojans with more then one program, and find nothing. I even got through the hassle of reinstalling my windows just to be sure. And still someone managed to hack me the second time, and i don't understand how this was possible. Lets say that i had a trojan and someone managed to find out my password. How in God's name he would be able to brake the second one that is always changing ? And the third thing i want to say is that you are right about this videos, helping us in our decision of buying a good lock for our bikes. For example i recently manage to buy after a long waiting period, of putting money aside a pretty expensive Cube bike. And this type of videos help me in making a better decision, when it comes to securing my investment. So in other words i never contested the helpfulness of this videos. But i just think that this is a two edged sword, because the thief's get inspired and find out new methods. Sorry for my long rant bro !
I'd like to know where your statement about "more offenders than honest people' can be supported? It's been my experience that thieves are, by nature, lazy. That's why they're thieves! Every time I have been the victim, the lock was destroyed by some type of forced entry, *never* picked. Picking requires effort and a fair amount of discipline to learn. These qualities are conspicuously absent in the better part of the population of criminals.
Mark England Maybe you're right, i'm not the know it all person on YT. I admit thank God i didn't had to deal with thief's so often, the only tow times wore street muggings. One happened to me when i was in 7 grade, and it was quickly resolved by my uncle. Nine years of boxing will resolve this type of problem's pretty fast. And the other mugging happened to my mom 4 months ago, of course the police didn't resolve jack shit. So i will take your word for it, about the lock picking part.
Your "raking" comment was of great value to beginning students,
I did and published an article in the Independent Locksmith Journal showing the cutaway and internal details of the lock.
Cómo armar y desarmar esos candados viro de barrilito?.

Very Interesting Padlocks Bill. I can't wait to get some of my own to Pick. Keep up the great work. Nick.
Haven't seen a Viro in a long time, thanks for the vid :)
if you use the top half of the key rather than the bottom would be an easier pick.. LOL

+bosnianbill I had no idea you write for the journal. Do you have a link to the article?
+bosnianbill Removed. Got a video?
Yep, here's the article I wrote: cdn.locklab.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/The-Viro-Cylindrical-Padlock.pdf?x13003

have you had a chance to mill one of these locks yet ?
Very new to this so forgive any ignorance..Could the reason for the difficulty be that the birthday surprise pin is being dealt with to soon in the binding order
Great video brother thanks for sharing it with us
I do not believe thay use it but thear is a secerity pin that is mushroomed at the top and has what looks like a file looks on the rest of it making it hard to pick as it will keep ketching the sides of the cylnder
Could you have used a combination of the cut bottom "key" and a bottom-removed bump key?
so far I think that the vireo locks offer more security than American locks
Arizona Outdoor Survival yea i was thinking the same thing. especially four pins
How about a 2 part bump key? Your custom tension wrench + it's complement.
Love that one bill
I picked my first lock today, a viro padlock with six pins. Took me two hours haha. We all got to start somewhere don't we?
im not watching this video because of the slow line..so,this is a good lock or not??
Hi @Bosnianbill just curious if this viro cylindrical padlock can be shimmed. Appreciate if someone could answer
No, the shackle is held in place by ball bearings, not spring loaded locking pawls. Sorry.
Link to the follow up? Please?
Nice. Did you ever end up milling it?
Great video mate
Is it bolt cutter proof?
almost but no
Oohhh no i got to change my lock again..How about this i,Lock uk sir ,is it better than Viro
