SY-1000 without a GK, is it worth it over SY-300?

- I got the SY-1000 mainly for use with the GK-3 equipped frankenstrat, but how much use is it with a 'normal' instrument, and how does it compare with the SY-300? I investigate.

Thanks for making this, it was a big help
Try putting an EHX Attack Decay in front of the SY-300... It opens up a whole new world of sounds from the beast...
Hi Chrissie, thanks for the demonstration. I think I will keep my Sy300 because looks like Sy1000 doesn't bring FXs which need. I use Zoom G6 with my Sy300. I wonder why Boss can't put all Fx processor sounds in one box.
Yes, they are annoyingly inconsistent with which FXs are on which boxes!
Great vid thanks. Have you tried the gr55 against the sy1000? It doesn’t look as though the sy can stack 3 sounds at the same time and the available sounds seem less than on the GR55. All very confusing. Thanks
Thanks. The SY-1000 can layer 3 sounds (over the instrument signal), but they are all synth sounds - there are no samples in there. That's the main difference between that and the GR-55 (apart from the better connectivity on the back, like extra pedals and a send/return loop). It's a question of what you really want to do with it - I'm not that bothered about making a guitar or violin sound like another instrument, so the synth sounds are more interesting to me. It's a question of what you want really. Also the GR-55 feels quite old-fashioned in it's interface :)
@@ChrissieCaulfield Thanks Chrissie. I’ll have to see if I can try one to compare. 👍🏻
I wonder when Boss will produce a new version of SY. They have many things to add and fix. I am sure technology is capable of this. Looks like Boss is a bit lazy...
