Hi Alex. Amazing sounds. The possibilities are endless. Thanks for the very explanatory video
My pleasure I'm glad you enjoyed it. All the best
Thanks for the patches and demo video. As soon as my preorder arrives I’ll be trying them out.
Awesome. Enjoy.
Good morning Alex! Roland/ Boss are so very fortunate to have you to demonstrate their products! Well done 👍🏻 Sir!!! As always peace ✌🏻 my friend! Excellent patches/ voicings👍🏻
Thx man, always appreciated.
Pleasantly surprised by the mixed guitar/synth sounds. This goes far beyond turning your guitar into a Moog. Cant wait to get one.
Sounds fantastic. Great sounds and great playing.
Glad you like it Tim. All the very best 👍
VERY VERY NICE!!!Great Alex! come back soon in Italy!
Thank you, and I hope so too. ;-)
Otro video muy interesante, como siempre mi amigo Alex
Great video, can't wait to get one. !!!
Thanks Colin.
Clicked the like button before i even heard it. Because i know it's damn Good!! Love this guy.
Thank you sir.
bet steven would love this
awesome demo as always
Thx mate. Yes he may well do. ;-)
Enjoyed that Alex great sounds besides your incredible playing you speak and explain what you are doing so so well !
Cheers James Glad you enjoyed it...
All the best. ;-)
Thanks Alex! Love your playing. I also really enjoy your demos and explanations of how to achieve different sounds on a given device. Great to see you doing this for the SY-1000.
Thank you Kurt it's always my pleasure I'm really pleased you liked the video. All the best
Great great
Hello Alex, you’re simply the best. I already ordered the Boss SY 1000 together with the
Boss FV-500H , I hope the FV 500H was a right choice. The very best.
Boss FV-500-H
this is impressive!
Thank you very much!
I am a BOSS COLLECTOR here in Brazil, i prefer analog compact pedals but same way its a great video from Alex !!!
Thank you for watching.
Alex, great!Record the continuation of the melodies with this emulator.
Some amazing sounds! Who knew a guitar could put synth players out of work?
Been this way for decades lol.
@@BrockDavisson never really delved into the synth side of effects for guitar.
Thank you for this demos, I really want to hear this device and cannot find anything on the internet
Thanks Federico, I'll try to do some more in the next month. But I'm sure lots more will come out soon. ;-)
Very hot slicer fx at10:40 Alex! Then again @11:04
I have a GP-10, and it's great, but this solves the two major issues I have with it: 1) you're limited to one effect per patch 2) using other pedals with it is a bit of a headache, because if you're using the GK-3 you can't put anything before it, and anything after it is after the gain and cab-sim (which is really not ideal most of the time). Thank you Boss for both letting us use a load of effects and (I think?) putting an effects loop on it.
i guess Im kinda off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Juan Travis i watch on Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Cesar Idris Yup, have been watching on flixzone for since march myself :)
@Cesar Idris Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it !
@Juan Travis no problem :D
@Alex Hutchings...you blessing me bro. Can’t wait to play some of these tones with my worship team. So dope. When will mine get here 😭 ?
Yo Nic, glad you like them.... Yeah I asked the guys last week actually and I believe they are in transit as I write... It may be a shipment which can take a week or two but hopefully soon man... Enjoy it when it arrives. All the very best to you. ;-)
Alex, love the demo video. Great playing. Can you tell me what expression pedal you are using?
Idol❤mr alex

Thx man.
Thanx Alex. 14:16 Song for Bilbao ;)
Hi Alex
Amazing video with excellent guitar playing, thanks.
Is it possible to get These sounds with a regular guitar. Alt tunings etc?
If it’s not, what kind of guitar do you use?
Awesome, your playing is fantastic as always! Any word on the Guitar/Bass-to-MIDI conversion side of things for triggering other gear? I'm definitely a fan of the unit, but whether I get one depends on how the triggering of other hardware synths or VSTs is.
Thx Tim, I will endeavour to look into this in any up and coming videos I do on the unit..... Hoping to delve in a little further in the coming month and upload the results. All the best
@@AlexHutchingsMusic thanks, looking forward to it!
Hi Alex. Your videos on the Boss synth products are invaluable and the most insightful I have found so far. In your opinion what’s the best bet in 2024 for purely synth sounds the SY1000 or the GM-800?
Hey Alex, as usual listening to your demos come with a great guitar lesson. Thanks.
One question, the GR55 has a decent grand piano sound, while the SY1000 programming is very different, does it have the ability for piano tones, similar or of equal quality?
Thx man, Glad you enjoyed the video. The SY-1000 doesn't do Piano sounds to be honest mainlly just Synth tones as well as Guitar and amp modelling. I'll hope to work on some more content covering both GR and SY soon. ;-)
I bought the Roland US-20 GK switching unit. The combination of GR55 and SY1000 is awesome. Somehow the mag guitar gets through untouched. So appears in either setting. Using Godin LGXT.
Wow sounds like a really cool set up, glad you're enjoying it sir. All the best ;-)
The sound seems more "organic" than sy-300 (although I still love it) and that is a plus but still don't think I need this unit yet. I wanna hear styles like Tangerine Dream. Emerald Web. Cluster. Robert Fripp. Brian Eno. Jean-Michel Jarre etc.. etc..
Thx for watching, and I agree i think it is very organic sounding too. I'm sure as this unit starts to enter the public domain there will be many more demos along the lines you've mentioned. I'm also looking forward to seeing what all the other people will do with this thing. All the best.
Thank you. Nice usable patches. Is the sound of the synth hi-resolution 24bit 96khz like the latest boss guitar effects? It would be nice if the effects are also high-resolution 24bit 96khz for the sy-1000. Thanks for all your hard work, dedication and valuable time on guitar synthesis.
My pleasure sir, the official word quality wise so far is this.
Next-generation synth engine with custom DSP and 48 kHz/32-bit processing throughout, * AF method (Adaptive Focus method) is a proprietary method from Roland & BOSS that vastly improves the signal-to-noise (SN) ratio of the AD and DA converters.
Hope that helps. All the best Mike.
You sold me. Got to get one.
I had the first guitar synth setup, the Hammond Innovex, back in the '70s. (That made me a local legend. People still mention it from time to time.)
Got a GR-1 when they came out. Enjoyed it a lot but felt it was quite limited. Couple years ago got a Fishman TriplePlay. Spend more time trying to adjust it than playing. With COVID, I don't know when or if I will be performing. But I want this. Seems like they finally put it all together.
But.... what am I going to do with all the guitars I won't need anymore? :-D
Hello sir, I'm really pleased you've enjoyed my videos on this.... Sounds like you've enjoyed Synth over the years, very cool.... Wishing you all the best with it regarding your other guitars, I'd always recommend keeping them.... but then you're speaking to a man with around 50 😂 so maybe I'm not the best judge... Cheers for now. 👍
a trivial question... better this new synth or the gr55...if you can I would like an honest answer. thanks and congratulations for the always excellent demos.
greetings
Hi!! Alex, de boss sy -1000, blow my mind!! how you setup your guitar?, whith the midi Mic? it´s a special guitar? thanks a lot!!
Nice demo! I stumbled on your gr 55 demo and have been binge watching really dig the fusion stuff! I have an sy-300 and really like it. I’m looking to get midi tracking, does the 1000 do pitch to midi from the audio or just the gk pickup? I’m sure I’ll get one just need to figure out which guitar to setup. Thanks 🙏
Thank you very much Rob I appreciate your kind words. I'll be looking to upload some more videos in the next week or so helping user understand the unit more and hopefully answer some of their questions. But in short yes it does do pitch to Midi and I'll be testing that out too... All the very best.
I’m looking forward to more, your content and presentations are awesome! It’s great how you pack in so many different usable techniques. It’s hard to find good content with the kind of energy that you bring. More Snarky lines Corey is gong to be jelly!
@@robmurtha9582 You'll need the pickup to use 99% of the features.
Can you get the Turbo Lover intro by Judas Priest from the 80's? Was done on a Gr700. Great channel!
Alez, you are the only one that make justice to this units capabilities, always amazingly creative. Can this unit do the original GR300 metheny lead tone? Is the simulation better than the VG99? I´ll buy it without thinking twice if so!
Hi there, thank you for your kind words and positive comment. Yes there is a great GR-300 inside I wouldn't want to say it is strictly better, however I can say that this unit is at least 12 years more advanced so I would very much like to think so..... I'm sure once you try it you'll see for yourself... I think it's pretty fantastic. ;-) All the best
i wana buy that now!!!!
Go for it mate. ;-)
Great sound. Are there problems generating unwanted, false harmonics? How to avoid harmonics? greetings
I would love to hear a short sample of just the modeling of the guitar and bass sounds. Is the GK pick up required in order to access the modeling, or just for the individual strings tuning and assignments.
Hi Ace I'll be looking to do some more videos over the next few weeks and will try to do a section just on this to help you. I can tell you that you do need a GK pick up in order that you can access the modelling. All the best
Badass!!! are these presets available anywhere?
It Fender with two output jacks. Wowww
Hi Alex, love this product - looking forward to it. Besides using it as a synth/guitar modelling tool, is it possible to use it a bit as a multieffect board as well? Sending the clean, unmodified guitarsignal through a custom effects chain saved as a patch, bypassing the instruments/guitarmoddeling part of the SY-1000? Regards!!
Hi Simon, thanks for your comment. Yes indeed you can run your unmodified guitar signal and use it as a multi Fx. Thus far I have only used this through the 13 pin jack but as there is a Guitar in on the back I presume one could plug straight in and use in the same fashion which is probably what you're referring to. I'll certainly check this 100% when I'm next with the unit. All the best and thanks for watching. ;-)
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Thank you for taking your time to reply - well, another great reason for me to buy it then ;-)
Hello Alex, I am thinking of ordering this synth processor, but want to keep my existing pedal board. I was wondering if it is possible to integrate a stereo external pedal chain - such as a Strymon Big Sky etc - with the SY-1000 effects chain somehow? Clearly it can go at the end, but what if I want to insert it earlier? I think the external effects loop and block are only mono, but perhaps the guitar in jack connector could be repurposed to provide a second stereo channel. Or is there a simpler way to do it?
Many thanks
Dam
Nice demo! Question: the main handicaps using Roland Gr-55 were fluctuations of sensivity in different presets in fast passages with 16 & 32 notes, some lost notes and some added accidental. All setup attempts failed. So the functional was limited. Are these problems somehow fixed here?
Hi There, I understand your frustration in this matter, however the SY-1000 works differently to the GR-55 in the fact that it doesn't 'trigger' other sounds it is signal based therefore there are no tracking issues... ;-) I discuss this a little from about 13:30.
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Oh thanks! Missed that.
@@SydiusVideo No worries, my pleasure.
Hello Alex. Which expressions pedal are you using. Thank you very much.
Hi there, thx for watching. I only use either the Boss EV-5 or EV-30 I hope that helps. All the best.
There's a video on UA-cam of Jim O'Rourke where he can have patches where the synths in Boss Tone Central work with each other (oscillators from one synth changing the parameters of another synth). I can't seem to find any way to do that in the BTC. I have the SY-1000. Any idea how?
Sorry mate, silly question, how do I store your patches on my SY 1000? Or, isn't that possible?
do you know how the SY-1000 works with MIDI send to one of my other synths. Seems like the GR series has a bit of latency when doing this. Thx.
Has the B-String Bender patch for the GP-10 ever been ported over to the SY-1000? This patch would sell the SY-1000 for me
Hello, do music on your Boss GT 1000 using your smartphone via usb and OTG cable, as it works on the Boss GT 10 (fx chain, DGT). Please!
I've been using my GT-1 + SY-300 rig for years, I can get guitar only, guitar synth only or blend both, I control the volume of the SY-300 with an EV-5 expression pedal.
The SY-1000 is at the top of my list though I haven't seen demos where I can do the same as my current rig: guitar only, guitar synth only or blended. Is this possible with assignments in the SY-1000? I will add my EV-5 and FS-7.
Just bought one of these used. I am not happy with the fact that I can't totally bypass the unit with my GK3 switch so I can just use my guitar. I can do that with my Boss GP10 but not this more expensive, flashy unit. What on earth were Roland/Boss thinking? I am looking forward to diving in with all the guitar modeling on here and some synth stuff as well but not having the option of just using my guitar pickups is infuriating, I won't be using any amp modeling or effects as I have a Fractal unit for that. it is an imperfect world, eh? I'm still trying to build the Swiss army knife rig so I can get rid of stuff I barely use.
Love your demos and playing, which is way beyond mine.
I’m thinking of trying the SY1000. How good are the guitar models? How good are the 12 electric guitar sounds?
Hi there, I have a whole play list with different demos to check out, for example theres one highlighting the guitar modelling and 12 string acoustic etc... I hope that'll help you to hear the modelling stuff heres the modelling one..
ua-cam.com/video/LjrToj6_1Lc/v-deo.html
& here's the whole playlist. I hope this'll answer your question. Cheers for now,
ua-cam.com/play/PLoNAZKT2mb2Q3zUiird8zzrLECbO4eTqh.html
What about 12 string electric sounds? And les Paul and gretsch? I’ll record my acoustic sounds with a real acoustic guitar and mic but I’m curious how accurate the electric 12 string and other electric guitar models are.
Considering a SY-1 is about $200, I wish I had known about the impending SY-1000. I'd have been a fifth of the way closer to having what promises to be a game changer. I am curious, though... as a bassist, can the SY-1000 make use of a GK3B?
I feel your pain but still, always good to have a back up... ;-) Yes the SY-1000 makes use of GK3B fine, I created the Bass Patches for the official video too with my Musicman 5 string and it worked great.
Alex - Boss EV-30 pedal you're using there? Just wanted to confirm since I want to do things like this too!
Yes mate, it's an Ev-30 a great pedal. ;-)
Hi Alex, nice demo .. I was wondering if I will get the full env potential without a GK pickup ... Primary use is for pedalsteel and upright bass
Thanks .. Rasmus
Hi mate, I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean by env but I can tell you that via the guitar input you can definitely access the FX and Amp modelling but I don;t think you can access the synths with out the GK... I may be wrong but as yet I've not found a way to get around this. I'll look in to it further and do some more videos on it soon. ;-)
Thanks Alex, what I meant by env was the potential of the synth envelope without a GK PU ... anyway thanks
ok I've just figured out you can access the Dynamic synath via regular guitar in too which is really cool. So yes you'll be able to fully get some bad ass synth stuff on your pedal steel. ;-)
Wow thats great, thanks for clarifying it Alex ... 👏😄
Nice...can I get hints regarding gr55 accostic tone and your patch download??
Thanks mate here is the patch download page. bosstonecentral.com/liveset/sy-1000/pushing_the_envelope_by_alex_hutchings/
And unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to get GR-55 patches into this unit but the Acoustic patch on here are already great in my opinion. Here a sound video so some guitar modelling patches you can listen to. ;-) ua-cam.com/video/LjrToj6_1Lc/v-deo.html All the best
Thanks for reply actually I want patches for gr 55 unit...as u have given demo of gr 55 unit
@@nikunjpatellvmusicleadguit4408 AhI see, unfortunately as it is almost 10 years old the editor software was not developed back then so is unavailable. Sorry about that mate.
Ok take care
Does it have piano and flute? I want to replicate video game music such as chrono triggers , final fantasy, megaman x
Can you remake the B-Bender patch from the GP-10 on the SY-1000?
Is it possible to tone remain for at least 2 seconds with balance decay?
I don't see the GK3 pickup in your setup here. How are you getting polyphony?
It's built into the guitar. Roland Ready Strat. GC-1. All the best 👍🙏🎸
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Ahhh. Nice. I was trying to figure out how to avoid the clunky look of the GK3 on the guitar
I was hoping to ear some twelve string guitar patches...
There are so many possibilities and yes 12 string is definitely one of them, I'll try to include one in my next video. Thanks for the feedback
All the best
Oh yes do it have sensitive each string Roland VG99 have this have to if do on a Gibson guitar please show it for each string
How does the RR Strat compare to something like the Godin LGXT that uses piezo saddles for the midi?
Hi Howard, I have used all guitars and pick up configurations, (and still own them all) but I honestly have found nothing really compares to the functionality of the GK3 pick up. Either RR strat or the external pick up fitted to any other guitar. All the best
Alex Hutchings thanks for the reply!
Does it have dual amp for normal pick up ?
Will there be hex available on anything smaller like an sy-200 etc.?
Hey mate, to be honest I wouldn't know that info. Sorry dude, hope you enjoyed the vid none the less looking to do more on it soon. Chers for now.
Alex Hutchings
Hey! Thanks for replying Alex. I know you’re probably busy.
I enjoy all the demos you put out! Even the previous sy-300.
If boss is looking for feedback, I would enjoy something similar to an sy-1 with hex input. Though the sy-1 seems already great.
Compared to the GR 55, Is it Worth the extra $$$?
It's hard to say to be honest mate, I still really like the GR-55 there are different things available in the SY-1000 but then again there are things the GR-55 do the SY-1000 doesn't i.e all of the PCM sounds... So it really depends on what your main focus will be.... Hopefully you may be able to try one out in a store maybe? Thx for watching and all the best 👍
Do you still use the vg99?
Is the midi triggering better than the GR-55 when using the 13 pin cable?
Haven't tried it as yet mate, but will look to do some more videos soon and will check for ya.. ;-)
Alex Hutchings , Thank you Alex keep up the good work my friend.
@@Talentocubano Thank you so much. ;-)
I can't seem to find a download link on the website, can someone help me find it?
Any plans for a boss sy-1 waza craft?
I couldn't say myself but nice idea though. ;-)
Will this work with a keyboard midi controller
Hi Ray, no this won't operate with external controller but you could send midi from the SY and access the sounds of another device. ;-) I hope that helps.
My cat Lucy likes snarly kitty
v guitar is back?
Yep... and its great fun. ;-)
Would it fit with sustaniac and bass vi?
Hi there, The sustainiac pick up would work for the regular guitar amp modelling but in order to use the synth fx you next the GK3 or equivalent. Hope that helps. ;-)
@@AlexHutchingsMusic i meant would the sustained note work woth conjuction of gk3 pickup for sound.
@@redcomnAh I see what you mean, yes I don't see why it wouldn't, its a cool idea. 99% sure it will. All the best
@@AlexHutchingsMusic will definitely try it later when it's available in my country. Thing is even tho it is manufactured here US most likely get it first
The empty output Jack slot on the guitar is so distracting 😂😂
Sorry dude... ;-)
@@AlexHutchingsMusic awww...no apology required big bro....that was a brilliant demo though😁
When the new Roland vg99 is coming out soon with bigger screen color full display on the vg99 you didn’t do to much sound or patches clean sound or classic nylon guitar sound and the Roland gk3 no good UA-cam video on a Gibson guitars step by step
Hi Vincent, I'm not entirely sure if there will ever be another VG-99 model however the similar technology can be found in the GR-55 and the new SY-1000. They don't have an onboard colour screen but using the Editor on the Computer allows you to have a full Colour screen over USB cable. Here is an example of more of the Modelling guitars. ua-cam.com/video/LjrToj6_1Lc/v-deo.html
And more explanation of them in this video. ua-cam.com/video/9Nvz_6DItcQ/v-deo.html I hope this helps.
Alex Hutchings Thank you 🙏 one more thing the sound you play you sound like that movie midnight express who know I just give you a big 💡 💡 idea
why dont you not play some tones with sax , flute aso
Hi mate. This unit does not have any of those type sounds, it focuses purely on guitar tones and synth sounds. But, the GR-55 has lots of those tones. Cheers for now. 👍🙏🎸
Help me out
CROCKS ????? 😳😳😳😖😖😖😖
Haha, nah believe it or not these are air Jordons I picked them up in some random store in Colorado I think... Thought they were pretty unique and certainly very comfortable but granted they look a bit weird. Other than that I hope you found the content of the video useful. Cheers for now 👍🙏🎸
