When my son passed away 12 years ago at the age of 27 I listen to his iPod to hear the last song he listened to and it was Life’s Been Good. Thank you Joe Walsh because I know you made him smile.☮️💟
@@artluvnanita Please one time for me , do as I do every time I hear this song I smile and say thank you because I know Jimmy is with me and he’s smiling too ☮️💟
I don't think Joe Walsh will ever get the appreciation he deserves. Such a great guitarist and what an amazing, distinct voice. Great interview Howard.
@@jaywalshmusicandsong1736 Yup. I can't relate to that song about living a life of debauchery and wretched excess. Totally wish I could though that is why I love that tune. Thanks Joe!
Uhhh... He left a pretty important part out. He didnt write Rocky Mountain Way! Look up Rock Grace. Rock Grace wrote it. I just lost SO MUCH resect for Joe Walsh.
I spent some time in rehab for alcoholism while in the Navy in 2018. I was pretty sure no one understood me until I had a counselor, the first time she’d ever met me, said “hi”and said “I’d like to play something for you.” And she sat me down and played “One Day At A Time.” The only time I shed a tear while I was there and one of the nicest things a human had ever done for me. So that’s my favorite of Joe’s tunes. But I play along with Rocky Mountain way on the drums about every day too :) Anyways, Joe is a legend!
He's told this story a number of times over the years, and the details are always the same so you know it's true. If he were embellishing just to make it "better" the details would be different from one telling to the next.
I once bought a book on "build your own guitar effects" (electronic circuits) that had a little plastic 45 record in it with Joe Walsh explaining and demonstrating each effect - cause he's the coolest guy on earth
Joe is cool. My favorite story was him on Bob and Tom. He was talking about when he toured with Sabbath. Years later they were trying to reminisce, but nobody could remember what happened. Then he says, well, we knew we played the shows...because we had the posters.
In The City - from The Long Run. Otherwise, his album Barnstorm 1:53 is very good and most don't know it. It's definately my fav of Joe's solo records although Life s Been Good is excellent as well. What a talent and yes, he saved the Eagles. They maxed out their orig format and started rocking more when Joe came on board. This is why Hotel California just blew up when it came out. I remember the radio promos that mentioned Joe was now an Eagle. That success was well deserved.
That's not what he does. Stern is a great interviewer. He knows how to keep the interview rolling, so if he knows the answer to a question, or knows where the celeb is taking it, he jumps in and keep them from rambling.
Rocky mountain way is mine as well. I love how he's got an amazing reason to switch guitars in one song, playing slide on one tuned in open E and another one for his talk box part which by the way is the most badass talk box sound and solo ever recorded.
Confessor came out at a time in my life that I needed some guidance. It got me thinking about the people I hung out with and where my life was going. I loved it ever since and play it often.
Luv how he explains the words to the song, just awesome, luv how he's seriously talking about how he's mowing the lawn, then jokes about it being an expensive song to write and laugh about it, thanks Joe, listening to your music since the fifth grade
There is a track on The James Gang 'Yer Album' vinyl called 'Collage'. It's an acoustic number. Great song and my personal favorite of Joe's. Walk Away and Funk #48 are great tracks on that album as well.
Rocky Mountain Way, Turn To Stone, Life In The Fast Lane, Life's Been Good and In The City are my favorite Joe Walsh songs. Joe's lead and harmony guitar parts in Hotel California is my favorite guitar playing of all time. 🎸👍
Rocky Mountain Way, hands down the best. I still remember as a teen in the 70's, the first time I heard it. I can't say that about too many songs since.
You had me until you said "underrated" Come on! Aside from using that over used cliche (underrated), Joe Walsh is NOT underrated! He is well loved, well known, well respected, famous as can be and everyone knows he made The Eagles better when he officially became a member. He had been playing with them already for years BTW.
I love Joe! He was great on his own and even greater with the Eagles! Stevie Nick's tells a beautiful story of her and Joe that makes me love him even more.
I've seen Joe in 70 for I was SO close that I could have reached out and touched his feet.My neck hurt from looking up at him all night long but it was a greatest show
Rocky Mountain Way is my favorite Joe Walsh song. Brings me back to when I first joined The USAF and was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver. Great times!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"pretty maids all in a row "for me and most of what he wrote in "so what" 1974 joe walsh is excellent on guitar composition arrangement he's got his own sound it matched very well with The Eagles and ..oh i forgot james gang ....an underated genious
ive written music with no words, ive written words with no music, and then years later, its like, hey! this will fit with this, and "boom", there it is, whether someone likes it or not lol
Rocky Mountain Way was the first Walsh song I heard ( James Gang didn’t get on UK radio) and instantly made me a fan. However, his greatest surely has to be The Confessor - epic!

I absolutely love Joe Walsh…..what a character! So open and honest. He just tells it as it is!
Joe Walsh is the coolest, most humble rock star I know! What a great talent! Love everything he ever touched.
Well said, me too....including Stevie Nicks in her prime ;-)
I love how Joe can answer that question fully and in great detail without even a hint of arrogance. P.S. he sounds awesome in that performance clip.
Joe's just cool👍

Wow. A rock star who actually answered a question about how he wrote a song without shrouding it in bullshit mystique and opacity. Props to Joe!
Sad that it's such a surprise! Goes to show how full of themselves most stars are.
@@jon8004 there are some that explain it Billy Joel explains it to for some songs, Joe Walsh does apparently he's from my home state too Ohio
Sorry, I don't buy the part about the lawn mower kept going and ate the neighbor's garden. I think that is BS.
