+Juiles MacD Yes, and I tend to agree. I'm not a voice teacher, but it seems to me that here she was pushing her voice a bit -- something that many very young singers do in an attempt to sound more powerful. But I think Samantha Barks has come a long way in the 8 years since this recording.
Nope, they’ve offered it to Shani Wallis, and if she’s not up to the task they’re gonna scrap the project. Seriously WhyTFFF are they remaking this treasure?!? Wallis, Moody, Wild, Reed... Why fuck with perfection. The ‘68 version isn’t remotely dated and it’s one of the greatest films in history.
Auditioned for Nancy this past year before i knew how much singing she has. its a blessing i didn't get the part. i love samantha barks as nancy and in the les miserables movie as Eponine!!!!!
I love how she can change her singing voice according to the character she plays. She sounds different singing as Nancy compared to when she's Eponine or Zoe (on Groove High). The true mark of a great, versatile singer!
Samantha was only 17 in this recording? Well, it seems she pushed a bit, but the voice was basically there (wonderful high notes!), as well as the emotion. Surely she'll be a great Nancy someday.
I'm in a production at the Hippodrome at the same time as Oliver is on ... so hopefully I'll catch her in the dressing rooms at some point! That would be so exciting!
She's beautiful, talented, and still so young. Everything's on her side and those dimples don't hurt any either! She is headed for big stardom... I hope the fame doesn't wreck her.
since i'm a massive lea salonga fan....i was very critical when i watched her sing on my own (although she did an equally amazing job) but this....i don't even need to see her perform to know that she is amazing!
Dare I say it this is every bit as good as Jodie prenjer's Nancy and i dont say that lightly. This young lady is amazing. I didnt know Cam MacCintosh was planning a remake of the Oliver movie but if he does Sam barks or Jodie should be Nancy without a doubt.
I would love to see a video of this, because I'm loving the audio. The vibratto sounded a bit forced at the very top of the song but otherwise, yes, vocally accurate and impressive!
Please, if you have and can, please upload videos of the play. I can't see her on stage because I live in Central America jajaja but I really want to see her as Nancy :D She sounds really great!
i heard that in cam mackintosh's new movie (assuming it's going to be made), and also his **possible** bway production of the show, he was hoping to get samantha barks :) yay!
That is definitely Sam. I am so proud of her and what she has achieved. I am glad that she has beat Taylor Swift to the role of eponine in the film version coming out at the end of the year. She has developed so much and is now so versatile with the roles she has done and everything that i am kinda glad she did not win even though i felt she deserved it.
Amazing! She sounds a lot different in this role than as Eponine but she's still incredible, of course. Now I'm not sure, do I prefer her as Eponine or Nancy? Hard choice...
Love Sam (one of the bright spots in the film version of Les Mis as far as I’m concerned) but I feel this was almost too rushed but other than that it’s great.
Went to see this at the Bristol Hippodrome last night! She was fantastic!! I must say I like her much more in the role of Nancy than as Eponine in les mis
THIS makes me excited for Les Mis - I was a bit worried as she's so capable of pulling off a perfect performance that it's a bit at odds with the gritty realism (like Anne's IDAD) that it seems Top Hooper's going for, but with moments like 4:41 she'll be fine!
Her voice sounds very mature for someone her age, imo- at age 22, the voice has definitely not reached its full potential, so imagine how she will sound at age 30 :D
I'm very very impressed with this!! I didn't like Sam in the Les Mis 25th concert but this is really really good, not as nasal as she usually is. Well Done Sam :D
It's one of the best Musical Theatre songs written for a female character
How exactly did she not win I'd Do Anything? She is the perfect Nancy!
super late I know but she was too young. the didn't think she had enough experience at 17 :)
+Juiles MacD Yes, and I tend to agree. I'm not a voice teacher, but it seems to me that here she was pushing her voice a bit -- something that many very young singers do in an attempt to sound more powerful. But I think Samantha Barks has come a long way in the 8 years since this recording.
she really has.
Ironically though she is probably the most successful
Lets just hope that she will audition for Nancy in the new version of Oliver! the movie
Lily Rose YAAAAAAAAASSSSS
Nope, they’ve offered it to Shani Wallis, and if she’s not up to the task they’re gonna scrap the project.
Seriously WhyTFFF are they remaking this treasure?!? Wallis, Moody, Wild, Reed... Why fuck with perfection. The ‘68 version isn’t remotely dated and it’s one of the greatest films in history.
JackAShepherd agreed. They need to stay away from best picture winners, hoping West Side is good since the original is fabulous
@@JackAShepherd
Oliver Reed?
And cut My Name?
Bad casting, and bad decision for my taste
Do not remake Oliver!
Auditioned for Nancy this past year before i knew how much singing she has. its a blessing i didn't get the part. i love samantha barks as nancy and in the les miserables movie as Eponine!!!!!
vibratto off the scale and over the top - fabulous! fecking love it!
I'm convinced that she can do anything
SAM IS INCREDIBLE!! AND HER ACCENT IN THIS! :) SHE CAN DO ANYTHING!
I had no idea she did Nancy as well as Eponine. awesome
I love how she can change her singing voice according to the character she plays. She sounds different singing as Nancy compared to when she's Eponine or Zoe (on Groove High). The true mark of a great, versatile singer!
O. M. G. The reprise was beautiful!!!
Wow.
My dog also barks.
But not as well as this.
I don't understand how she continues to amaze me...
Samantha Barks is Perfect.
when I listen to this I just see how much she has improved since she did id do anything she is just amazing in all her roles she plays
She is amazing, my nana did this and she sang it amazing! Samantha you are the same! Such an talented voice and girl!! Love you
She was Understudy for Lucy when we did Jekyll and Hyde in The Isle of Man in 2006! x
Dear Lord this is amazing
I wish there was a video of Sam singing as Lucy in jekyll and Hyde
I'm so delighted I got to see this, she was fantastic, my favorite by far
i can't even here she is singing this!!! thats awsome!!!
she is just amazing, she's such an idol of mine :)
Samantha was only 17 in this recording? Well, it seems she pushed a bit, but the voice was basically there (wonderful high notes!), as well as the emotion. Surely she'll be a great Nancy someday.
She was 20-21

Still cant get over the fact that we did Bugsy Malone together when we were 11 or 12! She has done SOO bloody well! Me next :P x
Absolutely brilliant!
Omg I saw this last week! So lucky u recored this ! Loveeeeeee it
Her accents... So amazing.
There are days I think 'Oh, I could totally be in musicals.' Then I listen to stuff like this, and I'm like, "Nope...nope..I was so wrong."
I'm in a production at the Hippodrome at the same time as Oliver is on ... so hopefully I'll catch her in the dressing rooms at some point! That would be so exciting!
Hearing her sing brings me to cheers
she was awesome in oliver such an inspiring character
Samantha was brilliant - saw her in Olivia last night. Amazing voice
She's beautiful, talented, and still so young. Everything's on her side and those dimples don't hurt any either! She is headed for big stardom... I hope the fame doesn't wreck her.
I bet the people who voted her off I'd Do Anything are kicking themselves
She's so amazingly good
Why does Samantha always play these utterly tragic characters? Haha, I guess because she always does such a beautiful job.
Same with Lea Salonga and Eva Noblezada
since i'm a massive lea salonga fan....i was very critical when i watched her sing on my own (although she did an equally amazing job) but this....i don't even need to see her perform to know that she is amazing!
awesome!
i would sell my soul to watch her in this
She's brilliant
The moving photo is annoying as well ad those who cough. But still. SAM. IS. AWESOME.
Paul McKinlay-Durning actually like Sam and Kerry Ellis better as Nancy
My sister said she sounds gross on this song. Clearly she needs to get her ears checked. Samantha Barks is PERFECTION!
does anyone know where I can see the show online ? :o I would LOVE to see her in this production !
I would love to see a video of this, because I'm loving the audio. The vibratto sounded a bit forced at the very top of the song but otherwise, yes, vocally accurate and impressive!
I love her :') i really do!
Samantha is a very talented young lady as well as being beautiful
Oh! Sam is soooooo good!!
Please, if you have and can, please upload videos of the play. I can't see her on stage because I live in Central America jajaja but I really want to see her as Nancy :D She sounds really great!
Cameron Mackintosh just announced in the Daily Mail plans to make a new Oliver movie!
And nana, love you to
AMEN TO THAT
i heard that in cam mackintosh's new movie (assuming it's going to be made), and also his **possible** bway production of the show, he was hoping to get samantha barks :) yay!
I agree... It's really odd... But We all still love her the same...(GO SAM!)
This is live.
That is definitely Sam. I am so proud of her and what she has achieved. I am glad that she has beat Taylor Swift to the role of eponine in the film version coming out at the end of the year. She has developed so much and is now so versatile with the roles she has done and everything that i am kinda glad she did not win even though i felt she deserved it.
does anybody have her singing it live!?!?
The feels Omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgong
thats what i thought but i saw her sing it somewhere on youtube and thats def her!
Amazing! She sounds a lot different in this role than as Eponine but she's still incredible, of course. Now I'm not sure, do I prefer her as Eponine or Nancy? Hard choice...
Do you have oom pah pah? Anyone know of any recorded scenes of Sammy in this? Please let me know(:
Love Sam (one of the bright spots in the film version of Les Mis as far as I’m concerned) but I feel this was almost too rushed but other than that it’s great.
I never meant to say that you felt that - I was just amazed they considered her for the role. I didn't know.
If there's any new movies of oliver the musical, sammy better get nancy
who knows, she's just incredibly gifted :D but she wasn't even 22 here! she was 21 i believe! it's crazy.
She's only 22!! How can someone sound that good at 22?!?!?!
Anyone at any age can sing good.
apparently the rights to make Jekyll and Hyde (musical of course) and since it probs wont be out until like...2015, maybe Sam might do it hopefully...
Love Sam in any part she plays
Went to see this at the Bristol Hippodrome last night! She was fantastic!! I must say I like her much more in the role of Nancy than as Eponine in les mis
Thanks so much! This is amazing! Do you have any more vids of Sam in Oliver??
i would love to see her play lucy in jekyll and hyde. shes perfect for it!

she is the perfect nancy! see her while you have the chance!
Love Sam a
Nancy Wilson & Shirley Bassey have done very good club version
OMG! SO MUCH COUGHING!
i thought she did?
THIS makes me excited for Les Mis - I was a bit worried as she's so capable of pulling off a perfect performance that it's a bit at odds with the gritty realism (like Anne's IDAD) that it seems Top Hooper's going for, but with moments like 4:41 she'll be fine!
*Oliver!!!
That's because it's live..
omg if she sung someone like you from jekll and hyde :O
Her voice sounds very mature for someone her age, imo- at age 22, the voice has definitely not reached its full potential, so imagine how she will sound at age 30 :D
she is 30 now and she is absolutely *incredible*
love her far more than jodie in the role... about tied with kerry ellis, but i think think shes absolutely fantastic. improved so much since the show!
Wow that is brilliant then, I could have sworn she was Kerry Ellis :D XX
I didn't think she was very good in the i'd do anything show. But the I saw her in the les mis anniversary show and now i think she's great.
Sam still looks young
There's only one thing for it: Elphaba next.
I'm very very impressed with this!! I didn't like Sam in the Les Mis 25th concert but this is really really good, not as nasal as she usually is. Well Done Sam :D
I know it's live. just usually even in live performances people don't talk so much.
Sam is perfect for Nancy because she's supposed to be 17
JUST STOP COUGHING!!
The picture moving is incredibly annoying...
Does all right with it, she doesn't really look like a Nancy though...
Annoying hearing talking/laughing in the background.
They consider TAYLOR SWIFT for Eponine? I'm sorry to those who think she could have done it, but I think she would have been awful for the part.
