I come back here every so often. Just to hear her sing from 'I won't betray his trust'. That's what musical theatre is. Ripping out your heart and making you FEEL. ♥️
Ryan S the key change is favorite part of the song and this song makes you feel for Nancy, you know she deserves better but her station keeps putting her with men like Bill. So sad.
Me Too!!!! Sooooo ridiculously good......sigh I played Bill Sykes in a production about 20 years ago....and i played the Dodger 51 years ago. I played Bill in a way that gave the audience a chance to see that , as Bad as he was, the loved each other..... I dont think ive ever been moved so much by a song -- from the first time i heard Georgia Brown sing it (Judy Garland also has a pretty awesome version from her TV show)
I've always absolutely loved this performance, but am only just realizing that the impressive callibre of the orchestra is a major part of why it's so moving (particularly 1:50 onward). Unreal.
I saw Oliver in 2010 and I wasn't really (that) into shows then, and I am looking back and thinking about this and I realised that I saw Kerry play Nancy! Meaning I saw her sing this!!! I remember thinking Nancy was amazing, but now I remember why!!! (I was only eleven years old at the time!) :P
I always come back to the performance just because of the raw emotion in her voice. It’s not often that you get to hear such a talented singer AND actress.
Wow. That was incredible. First time I've ever heard her sing, and I think she is second only to Shani Wallis who will forever be Nancy to me. But that was incredible.
Amazing. Tonight I was in the first showing of our Oliver at the BAPAC. I was just a workhouse boy. But I can't wait to go back and do it again another two times!! This was awesome!
Jonathan Fleites agreed, everyone is entitled to their opinions but we also got to remember stage singing is different film singing, Kerry was singing live, Shani probably prerecorded vocals but both are excellent
2:55 This is how I want the moment to sound like when Courtney Stapleton does her final "Change in Me" in Beauty and the Beast coming in January 2023. I want her to growl after that "a change *in…*" and hold it for the orchestra to stop, and signal it for "ME" then the orchestra to end it with a big flourish so that the audience could give a big standing ovation
Interesting characterization. She starts out as if she (the character) is singing to herself, to make her believe that it's all right. But about the "when you've been lonely" stage, she seems to be selling the idea to the audience. Vocally, it all worked (I am a sicker for a Broadway or West End belt), but visually I was a little confused.
This song is doubly powerful because Nancy is singing about her boyfriend Bill Sykes who abuses her. Obviously those in the audience are judging her, wanting her to leave him; but she is basically saying "You have no idea what my life is like, this is what I've chosen, so leave me alone."
How the FUCK can people be so uncouth as to cough through a live performance like this?! If you’re sick with a cough- don’t go. If you’re having a coughing fit- leave the theatre and cough in the foyer. If you’re just coughing because you need to clear your throat, feel emotional or need something to do- HOLD IT IN!!! There’s no decorum.
Cut them some slack. Do realise that this was the end of the run, for Pete's sake. Also, this is the most powerful song in the entire show. I agree with a few of your points, but people were also crying. You're allowed to cry quietly during the show if something powerful or emotional touches your heart, as far as I know - besides, not everyone has access to a throat lozenge.

Even with this heads up I was completely overwhelmed!

OMG she deserved a standing ovation for that performance alone! Fantastic.
What a BEAST of a last note! epic
You can hear everyone crying in the theatre
It’s sad and then she does an amazing job acting which makes me sadder and then you realize this is her goodbye and then you’re sobbing
Still watching and loving this
This... wow... chills chills chills!!! Seriously, how can someone hate this woman?!
Love her signature groar.
She is the only performer who has ever made me cry during a song... she is absolutely amazing.
I've always absolutely loved this performance, but am only just realizing that the impressive callibre of the orchestra is a major part of why it's so moving (particularly 1:50 onward). Unreal.
this commentttttttt👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This performance shakes me to my utter core. It’s so powerful. This is why I love Kerry.
I love the way the emotion comes through ESPECIALLY at the end you can hear it in her in the orchestra and feel it the power she put into it.
The fact that everyone started cheering before the last 'Me' shows how amazing she is.
The tears are going! Just incredible!!!!
Outstanding!
Talk about a singer that can rise the audience up with her! She blew everyone INTO the park.
I usually get chills by that key change. (Even more from this video, because it was her last performance)
Best performance of this song ever, and a lot is down to that growl!
I beg to differ :

If I can see through my tears, I haven't watched this video enough times.
OMG! THAT ENDING WAS SUPERB!
Goosebumps 😮
Very good. The growl gave me chills..whew.
Amazing. Nancy is such a sympathetic character, and Oliver is such a great musical.
So much sobbing
I always come back to the performance just because of the raw emotion in her voice. It’s not often that you get to hear such a talented singer AND actress.
I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since I discovered this performance 😭
Wow. That was incredible. First time I've ever heard her sing, and I think she is second only to Shani Wallis who will forever be Nancy to me. But that was incredible.
Shani is always and forever the best Nancy!!
Kelli is second to NO One excpet Georgia Brown
😎😎😎
That was absolutely amazing!!
This lady gives me the goosebumps!!! I loved watching her in Wicked and now seeing this performance was just as jaw dropping.
Well done!!!
No one rocks a growl as well as this girl does. Kerry Ellis needs to come back to the stage.
Amazing, Kerry is my favourite Nancy!!
This is the best one out there. So remarkable.
Freaking OUTRAGEOUSLY Amazing!!!
😎😎😎
She Nailed It!!!
My favorite rendition of this song
I travelled by coach for half a day just to see Kerry in Oliver, watched the show and then back on a train home. Love her
Wow, this one gives you goose bumps at the end
wowowowowow that was incredible. Listen to the audience reaction!!!! Incredible
My Lord, she sang the hell outta that!
actual chills at the end omg
Amazing. Tonight I was in the first showing of our Oliver at the BAPAC. I was just a workhouse boy. But I can't wait to go back and do it again another two times!! This was awesome!
You can hear people crying ;-;
And yet by the end they erupted into applause, shows you how skilled she is to have the audience in the palm of her hand through the lows and highs.
Legendary
Her voice is great! But Shani Wallis is still the best Nancy no matter what always and forever
You honestly can't compare them...they are both amazing in their own ways...
Jonathan Fleites agreed, everyone is entitled to their opinions but we also got to remember stage singing is different film singing, Kerry was singing live, Shani probably prerecorded vocals but both are excellent
Wallis' voice was never that powerful. The ending here is jaw dropping.
That growl after Needs is perfect.
Amazing!!!!!!!!
Está canción me hace lllorar , es tan bella
I love her so much

everyone’s sobbing in the audience 😭😭
wow.
When Kerry Ellis sings, one mustn't make a sound!
2:30 - 2:59 Chills!!
Oh My God !!!
Is she channelling Shani Wallis? She's great! (She's even got Shani's dress!)
Mind you, she's got Georgia's passion, too.
+SteveZodiac2001 Shani Wallis is the best Nancy ever!
Think Cameron Mackintosh was trying to the movie in this version
I will always love Georgia Browns version, and Shani Wallis was very good in the movie, Kerry has a bit of both when preforming this song ❤️
Fucking outstanding.
She should of done the growl all the time, it fits so well
I'm in Oliver!

And the full show video going around UA-cam???
Do you or anyone have I'd do anything from this very performance or be back soon from broadway, London or west end?
This song is doubly powerful because Nancy is singing about her boyfriend Bill Sykes who abuses her. Obviously those in the audience are judging her, wanting her to leave him; but she is basically saying "You have no idea what my life is like, this is what I've chosen, so leave me alone."
Can u pls give me the full recording if u have it 🥰
Is she implying that she's pregnant? She's holding her stomach a lot - I guess it could be broken ribs...
Ever wear a corset before?
is this September 2010???
No it's January 2011
Listen to jazmine Sullivan’s version of this

FAV NANCY better than jodie prenger
So it took her practically the entire song to remember what accent she was supposed to have?
The accent did seem to vary a bit, didn't it? Nothing too bad, though.
Not impressed with her voice. Very nasal.
She putting on a cockney accent that's why and anyway Nancy isn't supposed to have a "pretty" (btw I love her voice) voice.
